2013 Cadillac Ats problems
The Cadillac ATS (ATS as an acronym for Alpha Touring Sedan) is a compact executive car (D-segment) manufactured by General Motors and marketed by Cadillac from 2012 to 2019, available in both four-door sedan and two-door coupé body styles. In the US, it is the brand's first locally-built entry-level premium car since the Cimarron, and in Europe, it is the successor of the Swedish-built Cadillac BLS. The ATS was developed at the General Motors Technical Center in Warren, Michigan and assembled the ATS at the Lansing Grand River Assembly plant in Lansing, Michigan.
The ATS is based on General Motors' Alpha platform and is offered in either rear- or all-wheel drive configurations. The ATS base engine had been a naturally aspirated 2.5-liter I-4 gasoline engine that produces 202 hp (151 kW), until the 2016 model year. Optional engines include a 2.0-liter turbocharged I-4 gasoline engine that produces 272 hp (203 kW) and a naturally aspirated 3.6-liter V6 gasoline engine that produces 321 hp (239 kW). The 2.0-liter engine replaced the 2.5-liter engine as the base engine for the 2017 model year. All versions were equipped with a 6-speed GM 6L45 Hydra-Matic automatic transmission as standard until the 2015 model year. An 8-speed automatic transmission was introduced for the 2016 model year. The 2.0-liter turbocharged, rear-wheel drive version can be mated to an optional 6-speed Tremec M3L TR-3160 manual transmission.
Prior to the debut of the ATS, Cadillac's smallest vehicle was the E-segment CTS. The CTS was comparable in price to D-segment competitors like the Audi A4, the BMW 3 Series, the Lexus IS and the Mercedes-Benz C-Class, however was comparable in size and weight to the more expensive BMW 5 Series. Although Cadillac believed that customers would favor a Mercedes-Benz E-Class-sized sedan at the price of a 3 Series, this assumption was proven to be incorrect. Cadillac's research found that target customers who already owned vehicles like the 3 Series or A4 did not want a larger vehicle.
Cadillac debuted the ATS to the press in the United States in January 2012, placed the ATS into production in July 2012 and began selling the ATS in the United States in August 2012 as a 2013 model. GM began selling the ATS in China in November 2013. Cadillac sold the ATS in the United States, Canada, Mexico, Europe, the Middle East, China, Japan, and South Korea. The ATS was replaced by the Cadillac CT4 in 2019 for the 2020 model year.

I was told that the roll pins that connect the axel to the rear differential had come out. POWER TRAIN PROBLEM
- Date Of Incident: 2022-06-04
- VIN: 1g6ab5sa4d0
- Components: POWER TRAIN
- Summary: While waiting for the car in front of me in the valet line, I put my 2013 Cadillac ATS in park. When it was my turn, I attempted to put the car back in drive to move forward, but the shifter was locked in the park position. I had my foot on the brake and when I took it off the car began rolling forward, even though the shifter was in the park position. The screen above the steering wheel as well as the light on the shifter indicated that my vehicle was in drive, even though the shifter was locked in the 'park' position. I powered the car off, and after that it would not start. The screen and on the shifter still indicated that the car was in drive. Ultimately, the vehicle had to be towed. After having the vehicle inspected by a mechanic, it was found that the transmission shift cable became detached/failed/malfunctioned. I discovered that there was a recall on certain Cadillac vehicles for the issue I experienced, (recall number 14V338000). However, my vehicle did not have the recall when my VIN was looked up, but my car experienced the recall issue nevertheless. My safety as well as several others were put at risk because the car would roll if my foot was not on the brake, which could have seriously injured anybody/anything in its path. There were no warning lamps/messages/symptoms of the problem prior to the failure. The vehicle component has not been inspected by the manufacturer, as they quoted me a price of over $1000, holding me responsible even when there is a recall that matches the failure that took place in my vehicle.

The level of effort put into designing, creating, and testing this car is evident from the moment you start driving it. It feels surprisingly well-built, and the plush American cabin adds to the overall experience. The car performs exceptionally well, with the adjustable Magnetic Ride Control being a standout feature. While we won't be taking this car to the track, it will certainly make driving in traffic much more enjoyable. Although it may not be spacious, it's still a great option for those looking for a smaller car. So, why not make your buddies drive separately and enjoy the ride in this fantastic car?

I love the technology and style of this car. It's pretty good on gas. If you need a kick for speed, the 2.0 and higher models are the best.

Before owning the ATS, I had two BMWs, both bought new: a 2002 325i and a 2005 Z4. When I traded in my 325i in 2013, I didn't want another BMW, but I did want a rear-wheel-drive car that would give me a ride similar to the BMW. Truth be told, when compared to my 325 and the newer BMW 3-series cars, I found the ATS' steering, road holding capabilities, road comfort, dashboard panel, and interior to be superior. This car took turns without leaning, and considering its great suspension, it rarely felt jittery on regular roads. Its 2L turbo was quick enough for me. However, I must say that although the BMW's turbo engine and transmission were smoother, the ATS was still a more enjoyable car to toss around. The car's touch screen infotainment system got a lot of bad raps, but I didn't have any problems with it. Nonetheless, it does appear that over the years, the negative reviews of the infotainment system seem to have had precedent over the car's excellent road performance and have undeservedly decreased the car's resale value. Good news for those who are looking at the ATS (but bad for me when I will sell the car in another 2-3 years). My overall recommendation to anyone interested in this car is to not waste any time and just buy it. You'll have a great car at a very great price.

I had the rear differential leak fixed in February 2019, and now I need to have the axle fuel seal fixed in July 2019. While it is uncommon for cars to require these repairs, I am confident in my decision to address these issues promptly. I understand that the total cost of both repairs will be $1,400, but I am willing to invest in the maintenance of my vehicle to ensure its longevity and reliability. Thank you for your attention to this matter.

I purchased my Cadillac in March of 2013 and have put 25,000 miles on it since then. Unfortunately, I have experienced several issues with the car, including problems with the steering, stalling on hills, and a banging noise from under the hood during acceleration. Additionally, the glove compartment and trunk have had trouble closing, and there is an annoying rattling sound coming from the steering wheel and back seat speaker. Despite bringing the car back to the dealer multiple times, they were unable to find any issues. Unfortunately, the steering locked up again in April, and the entire power steering column had to be replaced. Ultimately, the engine failed and the car was totaled after hitting a pole. While my experience with Rj Burne on Scranton was not ideal, I would like to emphasize that this car is not worth purchasing and I would not recommend it to anyone.

I have a Cadillac ATS 2.54 cyl. that shakes and trembles during routine stops at stop lights. I have taken the vehicle to the dealer for software fixes and updates, but unfortunately, the problem still persists. I am disappointed with this vehicle, Cadillac, and GM. Despite the advanced technology in the Cue and radio, a vehicle that trembles and shakes is extremely annoying and leaves a sour taste. I have not received any response from Cadillac or GM yet, but I will repost if there is an update.

The car had some electrical problems, including the CUE system which had to be replaced twice, and several sensors that did not work properly. Additionally, there was a blown head gasket at 40k and a split radiator hose that needed to be replaced at 25k due to the plastic cracking from the heat. Despite these issues, I really enjoyed driving the car.

I purchased my 2013 Cadillac in 2015 from Hudson Cadillac in Poughkeepsie, NY. Unfortunately, I was not informed about the touch screen computer, which can sometimes stop working. As a result, I have been unable to control the radio or temperature using either the steering wheel or the touch screen. However, I am pleased to say that Cadillac has agreed to replace the part and will only charge me for the labor. If they hadn't done that, the part would have cost me around $1600.00. I have spoken to several people who own the ATS to get their feedback, and while some have had issues, others have had a great experience. While the car's warranty only covers up to 36,000 miles, it's important to note that many other car manufacturers have similar warranties. Additionally, the car does not come with a spare tire, which can be inconvenient. While I have had some issues with my Cadillac, I am hopeful that the replacement part will solve the problem. If not, I may consider other options in the future.
