1992 Buick Roadmaster problems
The Buick Roadmaster is an automobile built by Buick from 1936 until 1942, from 1946 until 1958, and then again from 1991 until 1996. Roadmasters produced between 1936 and 1958 were built on Buick's longest non-limousine wheelbase and shared their basic structure with the entry-level Cadillac Series 65, the Buick Limited, and after 1940, the Oldsmobile 98. Between 1946 and 1957, the Roadmaster served as Buick's flagship.
It became the marque's largest vehicle when it was resurrected for the 1991 through 1996 model years. The Roadmaster sedan, a C-body vehicle over its eight previous generations, shared the B-body for the first time in its history. It was 10 in (254 mm) longer with a 5 in (127 mm) greater wheelbase than the C-body Buick Park Avenue. It was also larger both in wheelbase (2 in (51 mm)) and overall length (6 in (152 mm)) than the K-body Cadillac DeVille.
A Buick Roadmaster Estate station wagon was introduced in 1947 and was manufactured in several generations through 1996.

Common 1992 Buick Roadmaster problems
The 1992 Buick Roadmaster is known to have several common problems based on complaints from owners. One of the most frequently reported issues is an idling problem, where the car idles fine when started after sitting for a day or two, but begins to rev itself after being driven for at least 15 minutes and then parked for about 10 minutes. This issue could be caused by a valve leak, a malfunctioning mass air flow sensor (MAFS), or weak fuel pressure. The best way to diagnose the problem is to have the car hooked up to a diagnostic at a shop or a parts store to check for engine codes.
Another common problem with the 1992 Buick Roadmaster is related to the check engine light coming on due to a gas cap issue. This problem is often caused by a loose or missing gas cap, which can cause the car to run poorly and increase fuel consumption. To fix this issue, simply tighten or replace the gas cap and clear the engine codes.
The 1992 Buick Roadmaster's 5.7 liter V8 engine is also known to have issues with loss of power and almost stalling. This problem can occur when driving at high speeds and backing off the gas, causing the check engine light to come on. The issue could be related to the fuel filter, fuel pump, or the air-fuel mixture. Checking the fuel pressure and timing can help diagnose the problem.
Additionally, some owners have reported issues with the coolant temperature gauge, the harness to the coolant temperature gauge, the map sensor, or the idle oxygen sensor. These issues can cause the car to run poorly or stall, especially when the engine is cold. Checking the electrical connections and sensors can help diagnose and fix these problems.
Finally, some 1992 Buick Roadmaster owners have reported issues with the fuel gauge, which can read above full even when the tank is not full. This issue can be caused by a faulty fuel sender unit or a problem with the fuel pump. Checking the fuel pressure and replacing the fuel sender unit can help fix this problem.
In summary, the 1992 Buick Roadmaster is known to have several common problems, including idling issues, check engine light problems, loss of power and stalling, coolant temperature gauge issues, and fuel gauge issues. These problems can be caused by a variety of factors, including faulty sensors, electrical connections, and fuel system components. To diagnose and fix these problems, it is recommended to have the car checked by a professional mechanic or dealership.

Love the car! It's such a throwback to the big cars of the 60's & 70's. Although the gas mileage isn't great, the ride more than makes up for it. It's like gliding down the road.

This has been an amazing automobile for your family. Purchased used in 1996, it served as the 'Mother Wagon', a cross between the mother of all wagons and mom's daily duty hauler.

I hope you're doing well! I just wanted to share that I've had this car for 5 years and I've really enjoyed driving it. It has plenty of room for kids and vacation luggage. I'm happy to report that it's on its second engine with 200,000 miles on it and it's still running great!
-
Since I bought this car, I have been enjoying driving it a lot. As a father of three kids, I needed a car with extra seating capacity and storage room, and this car fits the bill perfectly. It runs very quietly and smoothly, despite its mileage. It is loaded with every feature you could want, and at a price that is affordable for everyone. I really love this car and affectionately refer to it as 'the beast'. It rides as smooth as silk and is tough as a tank. Although it may use a little too much fuel, the ride is well worth it. Additionally, maintenance and repair on this car is easy and inexpensive, which I think makes up for the fuel cost. If I had the money to buy a Hummer, I would still choose this car instead.

Other than back road handling, everything is good!

This car was actually an inheritance, but unfortunately it was left to rot in the Florida sun. The damage was hidden by the dealer who sold it to the heir. It's a shame that someone would treat their grandfather's last car like that. In the future, I will definitely have a car inspected by someone local to the seller to avoid any surprises.
