1994 Buick Roadmaster problems
The Buick Roadmaster is an automobile built by Buick from 1936 until 1942, from 1946 until 1958, and then again from 1991 until 1996. Roadmasters produced between 1936 and 1958 were built on Buick's longest non-limousine wheelbase and shared their basic structure with the entry-level Cadillac Series 65, the Buick Limited, and after 1940, the Oldsmobile 98. Between 1946 and 1957, the Roadmaster served as Buick's flagship.
It became the marque's largest vehicle when it was resurrected for the 1991 through 1996 model years. The Roadmaster sedan, a C-body vehicle over its eight previous generations, shared the B-body for the first time in its history. It was 10 in (254 mm) longer with a 5 in (127 mm) greater wheelbase than the C-body Buick Park Avenue. It was also larger both in wheelbase (2 in (51 mm)) and overall length (6 in (152 mm)) than the K-body Cadillac DeVille.
A Buick Roadmaster Estate station wagon was introduced in 1947 and was manufactured in several generations through 1996.

- Components: TIRES
- Summary: I PURCHASED 4 NEW GOODYEAR TIRES APPROXIMATELY 3 YEARS AGO. WHILE DRIVING ON FLORIDA TPK ON 1/4/04 I COULD HEAR A THUMPING SOUND FROM THE LEFT FRONT TIRE. I GOT OFF AT THE NEXT EXIT TO LOOK AT TIRE AND I COULD SEE THAT THE TREAD HAD SEPARATED FROM THE TIRE. WE STAYED AT A LOCAL HOTEL THAT NIGHT AND BROUGHT THE CAR TO A NEARBY GOODYEAR DEALER. HE CONFIRMED THAT IT WAS A TREAD SEPARATION AND REPLACED THE TIRE AT A DISCOUNTED PRICE. HE SAID THAT HE HAS NEVER SEEN SUCH A THING ON THIS BRAND, INTEGRITY P225/70R15. I DON'T HAVE THE DOT NUMBE, BUT THE DEALER DOES. GOODYEAR AUTO SERVICE CENTER 30100 S DIXIE HWY HOMESTEAD, FL 33030. THE ORIGINAL TIRES WERE PURCHASED AT POMPANO TIRE AND AUTO, POMPANO BEACH, FL. WHILE WE ARE DISAPPOINTED THAT GOODYEAR DID NOT REPLACE THE TIRE AT NO COST, WE JUST CAN'T BELIEVE THAT THEY DENIED ANY LIABILITY OR RESPONSIBILITY FOR THE DEFECT IN THIS TIRE. IF I DID NOT PULL OFF THE ROAD WHEN I HEARD THE NOISE, THE TIRE WOULD HAVE BLOWN AT HIGH SPEED AND WE COULD HAVE BEEN KILLED OR KILLED SOMEONE ELSE. WHEN I CHALLANGED GOODYEAR THEY RESPONDED WITH THEY DON'T FULLY REPLACE TIRES ACCORDING TO THEIR GUARENTEE. I KNOW THERE HAVE BEEN RECALLS BY GOODYEAR IN THE PAST BECAUSE OF THIS PROBLEM WITH OTHER TIRE MODELS. SOMEONE SHOULD LOOK INTO THIS TO MAKE SURE THAT IT DOES NOT HAPPEN AGAIN OR THAT THEY RECALL THIS MODEL. I'VE INCLOSED PICTURES AND A COPY OF THE INVOICE FROM THE DEALER. I HAD TO REPLACE THE OTHER FRON TIRE ALSO TO HAVE THE SAME TREAD WEAR ON THE FRONT BUT ARE FEARFULL THAT ONE OF THE OTHER TIRE MIGHT DEVELOP THE SAME PROBLEM. MY BEEF IS WITH GOODYEAR, NOT THE LOCAL DEALER. HE DID THE BEST HE COULD BASSED ON GOODYEARS POLICY.*AK

1994 Buick Roadmaster recalls
The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) has issued 5 recalls for different components of the 1994 Buick Roadmaster.
- Manufacturer: GENERAL MOTORS CORP.
- Components: SUSPENSION:FRONT:CONTROL ARM:LOWER BALL JOINT
- Summary: DEFECTIVE LOWER CONTROL ARM BALL JOINT ATTACHMENT NUTS WERE NOT PROPERLY TORQUED AND CAN LOOSEN.
- Consequence: IF THE LOWER CONTROL ARM BALL JOINT LOOSENS, FATIGUES AND SEPARATES FROM THE FRONT SUSPENSION KNUCKLE, IT COULD CAUSE LOSS OF VEHICLE CONTROL.
- Remedy: DEALERS WILL INSPECT BOTH FRONT LOWER CONTROL ARM BALL JOINT ATTACHMENT NUTS FOR PROPER TORQUE. IF THE BALL JOINT HAS LOOSENED FROM THE KNUCKLE, BOTH THE BALL JOINT AND THE KNUCKLE WILL BE REPLACED.
- Manufacturer: GENERAL MOTORS CORP.
- Components: VEHICLE SPEED CONTROL:SPRINGS
- Summary: THESE VEHICLES FAIL TO CONFORM TO FMVSS NO. 124, "ACCELERATOR CONTROL SYSTEMS." AT LOW TEMPERATURES, EXCESSIVE FRICTION CAN OCCUR IN THE ACCELERATOR PEDAL ASSEMBLY.
- Consequence: CONSEQUENCE OF NON-COMPLIANCE: IN THE EVENT OF A FAILURE OF THE TROTTLE RETURN SPRING, IF THERE IS EXCESSIVE FRICTION IN THE PEDAL ASSEMBLY, THE ENGINE SPEED MAY NOT RETURN TO IDLE INCREASING THE POTENTIAL FOR A VEHICLE CRASH.
- Remedy: DEALERS WILL REPLACE THE ACCELERATOR PEDAL ASSEMBLY.
- Manufacturer: GENERAL MOTORS CORP.
- Components: FUEL SYSTEM, GASOLINE:STORAGE:TANK ASSEMBLY:MOUNTING
- Summary: THE FUEL TANK ATTACHMENT STRAP FASTENERS WERE NOT PROPERLY TIGHTENED. THE FASTENERS CAN COMPLETELY DETACH, EVENTUALLY ALLOWING THE FUEL TANK TO SAG AND THE BOTTOM OF THE TANK TO STRIKE THE ROADWAY.
- Consequence: THIS CAN RESULT IN A FUEL TANK LEAK AND FIRE IF THE LEAKING FUEL IS EXPOSED TO A SOURCE OF IGNITION.
- Remedy: DEALERS WILL RETIGHTEN THE FUEL TANK STRAP FASTENERS.
- Manufacturer: GENERAL MOTORS CORP.
- Components: WHEELS:LUGS/NUTS/BOLTS/STUDS
- Summary: PAINT ON THE WHEEL MOUNTING SURFACES CAN ACT AS A SHIM BETWEEN THE WHEEL AND THE ROTOR/DRUM. AS THE VEHICLE IS DRIVEN, THE WHEEL IMBEDS INTO THE PAINT, LOOSENING THE LUG NUT AND CAUSING A LOSS OF CLAMP LOAD.
- Consequence: ONCE CLAMP LOAD IS LOST, ALL TIRE LOADS ARE TAKEN BY THE WHEEL STUDS RESULTING IN A FRACTURE OF THE WHEEL STUDS. THIS COULD CAUSE THE WHEEL TO SEPARATE FROM THE VEHICLE AND COULD RESULT IN A VEHICLES CRASH WITHOUT PRIOR WARNING.
- Remedy: DEALERS WILL CLEAN THE WHEEL MOUNTING SURFACES FOR ALL FOUR WHEELS. ALSO, THE WHEEL STUDS WILL BE INSPECTED FOR DAMAGE AND WILL BE REPLACED AS NECESSARY.
- Manufacturer: GENERAL MOTORS CORP.
- Components: ENGINE AND ENGINE COOLING:COOLING SYSTEM:HOSES/LINES/PIPING/FITTINGS
- Summary: THE ENGINE OIL COOLER INLET HOSE MAY HAVE BEEN INSTALLED TOO CLOSE TO THE STEERING GEAR CAUSING CHAFING. THE CHAFING CAN EVENTUALLY WEAR THROUGH THE HOSE'S PROTECTIVE SLEEVE RESULTING IN ENGINE OIL LEAKING ONTO THE ENGINE.
- Consequence: IF THIS OCCURS, THE OIL LEAK ONTO THE ENGINE CAN RESULT IN AN ENGINE COMPARTMENT FIRE.

You've got to hear about my car! It's got 240,000 miles on it, but I've only had to change the starter, radiator, and an air conditioning hose. Other than that, just the usual tire, battery, and lube maintenance. And get this, it still gets 20 miles to the gallon and runs so quietly you can barely tell it's on when it idles!

I was considering selling my Buick because I purchased a Mercedes 380SEL for my wife. However, after driving the Benz, I decided to keep the RoadMonster. It has a plush ride without sacrificing handling and feels like it can handle hauling a trailer and taking a beating due to its durable ladder frame. The power is great and it gets good gas mileage on regular fuel. It's important to note that we're talking about a car that weighs 4500 lbs, while the Benz weighs 4600 lbs. The ride on the Benz is okay, but you do feel the road and bumps due to its European design. If you're looking to upgrade your car, consider the Impala SS. We've put 45,000 commute miles on it since we bought it 19 months ago with no major repairs needed or in sight.

I purchased my 1994 Roadmaster back in August of 2003. This car has a loyal following, much like its 'B Body' siblings: the Impala SS and Caprice. The Roadmaster, Impala SS, and Caprice all share the same chassis, LT1 V8 engine, 4L60E transmission, and more. My particular car boasts a comfortable grey leather interior that has proven to be both durable and long-lasting. On the road, this car is simply amazing. It offers plenty of power, a comfortable ride, and the secure feeling that only a large rear-wheel-drive car can provide. These cars were built to last, and mine is almost twelve years old now. It has never burned or leaked a drop of oil! They are truly a bargain, offering an exceptional ride, performance, and safety.

Dear decision makers at GM, I hope this message finds you well. I wanted to express my sincere appreciation for the Buick Roadmaster. I purchased one back in 1994 and it has been performing wonderfully ever since. As I am now in the market for a new car, I was hoping that GM could consider restarting production on this model. The Corvette engine that GM modified and put in this car is truly impressive and makes it fly. Additionally, the price point is very reasonable. Thank you for your time and consideration. Best regards.

Love the car! It's such a throwback to the big cars of the 60's & 70's. Although the gas mileage isn't great, the ride more than makes up for it. It's like gliding down the road.

This vehicle has had some issues since I purchased it, but I have taken care of all necessary repairs. Despite some challenges, I have driven it for 30,000 miles over the past 4 years. While I have had to replace certain parts, such as the starter and water pump, I have taken care of these issues promptly and efficiently. I have also addressed problems with the suspension and electrical system. Overall, I have been able to maintain the vehicle and keep it in good condition.

Hi there! I hope you're doing well. I wanted to share a recent experience I had with my car. Unfortunately, as I was backing out of my driveway, the throttle suddenly raced to full and I couldn't stop the car. It ended up crashing into my house, causing some damage and even injuring me. It was definitely a scary situation, but I'm grateful that I was alone and that it wasn't any worse. I'm just wondering if anyone else has had a similar experience? For context, my car is a '94 wagon with 100k miles on it and is in great shape overall. Take care!

This car was actually an inheritance, but unfortunately it was left to rot in the Florida sun. The damage was hidden by the dealer who sold it to the heir. It's a shame that someone would treat their grandfather's last car like that. In the future, I will definitely have a car inspected by someone local to the seller to avoid any surprises.
