2013 Buick Lacrosse problems
The Buick LaCrosse is a four-door, front-wheel-drive sedan manufactured by Buick since model year 2005, and marketed variously across four generations for the North American and Chinese markets.
The first-generation LaCrosse replaced the Century and Regal in North America beginning for model year 2005 as a five- or six-passenger, four-door, front-wheel-drive, V6-powered sedan using GM's mid-size W platform—and marketed in Canada as the Buick Allure. Notably, the first generation was also offered with a V8 engine, as a high-performance sub-model marketed as the LaCrosse Super (2008–2009). LaCrosse production and marketing began for China with model year 2006.
The second-generation LaCrosse was introduced for 2010 as a larger premium sedan for North American and Chinese markets using a long-wheelbase (LWB) variant of the Epsilon II platform shared with the Cadillac XTS—and available solely as a five-passenger sedan with a range of four- and six-cylinder engines.
The third generation was introduced for North America and China for model year 2017 using the GM Epsilon platform shared with the Chevrolet Impala, notably offering a mild hybrid powertrain combining 20-kilowatt (27 hp) electric and 2.5-liter Ecotec gasoline engine. North American production ended with the third generation, with model year 2019; however, it continued to be offered in China, with a 2019 facelift.
The fourth-generation LaCrosse, launched in 2023, is currently manufactured and marketed solely in China. It is powered by a turbocharged 1.5-liter or 2.0-liter four-cylinder engine.

Common 2013 Buick Lacrosse problems
The Buick Lacrosse, a full-size sedan produced by General Motors, has been known for its comfortable and quiet cabin, but it has also had its fair share of issues. Here are some of the most common problems with the Buick Lacrosse, specifically the 2013 model, based on complaints from owners.
- Check Engine Light Due to Gas Cap Issues: One of the most common complaints about the 2013 Buick Lacrosse is the check engine light coming on due to a loose or worn-out gas cap. This issue is relatively minor, but it can be frustrating for owners. The check engine light may come on even when there is no significant problem with the vehicle, leading to unnecessary trips to the mechanic.
- Door Lock Mechanism Sticks: Another common issue with the 2013 Buick Lacrosse is the door lock mechanism sticking, making it difficult to open or close the doors from both inside and outside. This problem can be particularly inconvenient and may require replacement of the door lock actuator.
- Steering May Develop Clunk Noise From Upper Intermediate Steering Shaft: Some owners of the 2013 Buick Lacrosse have reported a clunking noise coming from the steering column, specifically from the upper intermediate steering shaft. This issue can be caused by wear and tear in the steering system and may require replacement of the affected parts.
- Power Steering Hose Leaks: Owners of the 2013 Buick Lacrosse have also reported leaks in the power steering hose, which can lead to fluid leaking into the cabin. This issue can be caused by wear and tear in the power steering system and may require replacement of the affected hose.
- Computer Problems: Some owners of the 2013 Buick Lacrosse have reported computer problems, where the car sometimes doesn't start, and the battery has to be disconnected to reset the computer. This issue can be frustrating for owners and may require replacement of the affected computer components.
It is important to note that while these issues are common, not all 2013 Buick Lacrosse owners will experience them. Additionally, some of these issues may be covered under warranty, and it is always recommended to consult with a professional mechanic or the dealership for any repairs or maintenance.

- Summary: The first time this happened the power steering service warning light came on after I started the car. I was unable to move or steer the car. After about an hour, I started the car and the light did not come on and the car could be driven. About 2 days later, the same thing happened but the light stayed on. The car was towed to the dealership and after an evaluation it was determined that the steering gear/rack and pinion assembly had to be replaced. (See the uploaded invoice from Thompson Automotive Group and photos of the parts that were replaced.) The car is a 2013 that I purchased in August 2020. The original mileage at that time was 600 miles. When the incident occurred with the power steering, the car had been driven 44,571 miles. The car was purchased from a private owner so there was no warranty, but even without a warranty this type of failure should not have occurred when the car had been driven less than 50,000 miles.

SUSPENSION PROBLEM
- Date Of Incident: 2021-11-28
- VIN: 1G4GH5E30DF
- Components: SUSPENSION
- Summary: I purchased the vehicle in 07/2021 through the Drive time Dealership. The first concern is that as you go over the agreement the cost of the vehicle is well over the actual blue book value which $24,000 plus. But then there is the blinded words which cover the interest rate and the false mathematics that is used to confuse you. I realized that in the end of that process it is stated that I would owe $70,000 plus which one can buy 3,4, vehicles or a home. I ask that this transaction be investigated. My ethnicity was the motivating factor to become victimized just the commission. My second complaint which also support my reasonings as to this filing is due to the lack of reply towards the recall ( NHTSA- 20V764) Manufacture Recall Number:N202308930. I called the GM Manufacture on 07/27/2021 and was told that the Remedy was not yet available. It has been over a month period . According to the initial date the Recall came effect which was Dec. 10/2020 it has now been 2 years 14 days sense recall and I have yet to receive relief about this serious safety issue. I am asking for an investigation to initiated. It is not good the way consumers are being manipulated for monies we work hard for as good unfortunate Citizens. The 3rd incident occured when I was traveling east on 40-E going to work I felt the rear of the vehicle drop low( downward) which caused me to lose traction i need the recall completed Thank you.
ELECTRICAL SYSTEM PROBLEM
- Date Of Incident: 2021-01-04
- VIN: 1G4GG5E34DF
- Components: ELECTRICAL SYSTEM
- Summary: The climate control systems have stopped working. The temperature is locked to the last set temperature and blower zone (blowing lightly on feet only). It is available for inspection upon request. This is a significant safety issue as the climate control panel will not power on, affecting defrost for all windows. This is especially dangerous in Michigan during the winter months due to the need for defrost during spontaneous/lake effect snow. No defrost can cause significant visibility issues, which put the safety of the driver, passengers and others at risk. This malfunction also creates a safety issue because the vehicle is unable to be heated up properly when temperatures drop. This problem has not been reproduced or confirmed by an independent service center, nor has it been inspected by anyone. There were no warning lamps. My son (Ralph) has been helping me with this issue.

I recently traded in my 2008 BMW 528i for this model and I must say, I am absolutely loving it! The interior fit and finish is just as good as the BMW, if not better. It's also more comfortable and quieter on the highway than my old BMW ever was. I was able to customize it exactly the way I wanted with the driver confidence package, entertainment and navigation package. It's a huge plus that I can get it serviced locally, rather than having to drive an hour to a BMW dealer. The car looks awesome and I'm hoping for good luck with it. Although the rear visibility isn't great, the blind spot monitor is very helpful and the V6 has terrific passing power. Even my friend, who is 6'2, was able to sit comfortably in the back. Overall, I think this car is awesome!

I've owned this car for 2 years now and it has been a reliable, comfortable, and fun ride. Before this, I had a Mercedes Benz E350, but I must say that my Buick is just as good as the MB. The only issue I had was with the front passenger seat sensor, which unfortunately failed. My mechanic couldn't fix it, so I had to take it to the Chevy dealer. I was a bit hesitant because of my past experiences with dealership service departments. However, I was pleasantly surprised with the service I received. I've had negative experiences in the past, where they lied about the service my car needed, and even shorted me on fluids during routine service. But this time, everything was great. I wouldn't hesitate to buy another Buick Lacrosse.

But you used to get a better deal. Can't beat the car though. I hope our 16 is as good.

I'm glad to hear that you're enjoying your 2013 Lacrosse! While I agree with the Edmunds review about the limited truck space and rear visibility, it's important to note that the latter is due to the rear-view camera placement. Unfortunately, the Lacrosse doesn't offer much storage space, and the existing storage areas are quite small. This can be frustrating, but there are solutions available such as a Rubbermaid front seat organizer. Additionally, the hump in the middle of the back-seat floor may seem unnecessary, but it's likely there for structural reasons. Overall, I hope you continue to enjoy your Lacrosse despite these minor inconveniences.

The car I own the longest and love the most! It drives smoothly, is quick and responsive, and has a nice, quiet cabin. The interior is of high quality and it has been very reliable. However, the cooling system could be improved, and the visibility and trunk space are a bit limited.

I had an unfortunate experience with my Buick La Crosse where the transmission went out while I was driving. I had it towed to a shop in Dickinson, Texas on a Friday evening. After calling them the next Wednesday, I was informed that they had pulled the transmission. However, when I went there the next day, I was told that the transmission had not been pulled and would be pulled the next day (Friday - a week after being towed in). Finally, I found out that the 'wave plate' 3rd & 5th gears were broken and that this has been a problem with many of the GM transmissions. I wish I had known this before buying the 2016 La Crosse. The parts were 'back ordered' and I am currently waiting. Although I was provided with a 'loaner' vehicle (a GMC SUV), it is a 'minimal' vehicle and I would not consider buying one of these. Overall, I am disappointed in the quality and reliability of the Buick La Crosse.

I had a 2010 which I traded for the 2013 Buick Lacrosse. Unfortunately, the 2013 model has a noise when you accelerate and slow down. Despite consulting with the dealer and factory, they have informed me that there is nothing they can do about it.
