2010 Bmw X6 problems
The BMW X6 is a mid-size luxury crossover SUV by German automaker BMW. The BMW X6 is the originator of the sports activity coupé (SAC), referencing its sloping rear roof design. It combines the attributes of an SUV (high ground clearance, all-wheel drive and all-weather ability, large wheels and tires) with the stance of a coupé (styling featuring a sloping roof). It is built in BMW's North American plant in Greer, South Carolina alongside the BMW X5, whose platform it shares. Prior to the release of the X7, the X6 was considered a flagship SUV for BMW.
The first generation (E71) was released for sale in April 2008 for the 2008 model year, while the second-generation X6 (F16) was launched at the Paris Motor Show in 2014. The third-generation X6 was revealed in July 2019.
BMW Concept X6 (2007)
The concept model debuted at the 2007 Frankfurt Auto Show and the production X6 officially debuted at the 2008 North American International Auto Show in Detroit and Montreal International Auto Show. While slightly longer and wider than the X5, it is significantly lower and seated initially only four, and since 2011, optionally five.

Common 2010 Bmw X6 problems
The BMW X6, produced in 2010, is known for several common problems that have been reported by its owners. These issues are primarily related to the engine, electrical system, and mechanical components.
- Electrical Problems: There have been reports of electrical gremlins in the 2010 BMW X6, mostly relating to starting, battery life, air-con, and sat-nav issues, as well as electrical warning lights.
- Tailgate Spoiler Problems: The tailgate spoiler on the BMW X6 has been known to wobble or vibrate excessively, and in extreme cases, it may come off entirely. This issue is caused by an incorrectly bonded rear spoiler, which tends to come loose on the top edge of the tailgate on the right-hand side, where it meets the rear of the roof.
- Diesel Engine Problems: The swirl flap on the diesel-engined BMW X6 is prone to breaking, which can allow metal debris into the engine, potentially leading to serious consequences, including the need for a new engine. The best way to check for this problem is by checking around the intake manifold for signs of oil leaks.
- Handbrake Actuator Failure: This issue is caused by a software failure in the handbrake actuator, which can prevent the handbrake from being released. A software update is required to fix this problem.
- Rattling Noise from Doors: A rattling noise coming from the doors when driving is caused by poor fitment of the door cards, which can be resolved by adjusting the door cards slightly to ensure they are fitted correctly.
- Transmission Problems: While there are no specific complaints about the transmission quality of the 2010 BMW X6, the transmission is known to be a weak point in BMW vehicles of this era, and it is not uncommon for the transmission to require replacement or rebuilding .
In summary, the 2010 BMW X6 has several common problems related to the engine, electrical system, and mechanical components. These issues can be costly to repair, and it is essential to be aware of them before purchasing a 2010 BMW X6.

- Summary: WITHOUT ANY WARNING, MY LATE MODEL 2010 BMW X6M BURST INTO FLAMES, EXPLODED AND WAS COMPLETELY TOTALED. I PICKED THE CAR UP FROM CENTER BMW IN SHERMAN OAKS, CA, ON THE EVENING OF FRIDAY, NOVEMBER 2ND, AFTER THE CAR HAD BEEN SERVICED FROM 10/25 THROUGH 11/2. CENTER BMW DESCRIBED THE REPLACEMENT OF ALL EIGHT (8) FUEL INJECTORS AND SPARK PLUGS FOLLOWING AN ENGINE MALFUNCTION, AMONG OTHER ITEMS. ALL WORK WAS DONE UNDER WARRANTY. ON THE LATE AFTERNOON OF NOVEMBER 3, 2012, AFTER LEAVING AN AFTERNOON MOVIE WITH MY CHILDREN (THEY ARE 9 AND 12 YEARS OLD), I CAN BEST DESCRIBE THE EVENT AS A LOUD BANG WHILE GOING APPROXIMATELY 10 MILES PER HOUR IN A RESIDENTIAL AREA FOLLOWED BY AN IMMEDIATE ENGINE MALFUNCTION LIGHT AND ACTUAL FLAMES COMING OUT FROM THE FRONT AND UNDER THE CAR ? THERE WAS NO DELAY WITH THE FLAMES, IT HAPPENED IMMEDIATELY. MY FAMILY AND I IMMEDIATELY ATTEMPTED TO GET OUT OF THE CAR, HOWEVER, THE FRONT PASSENGER DOOR WOULD NOT OPEN AND I HAD TO DRAG MY DAUGHTER OUT OF THE CAR OVER MYSELF AND FORCE MY DOOR OPEN WHILE BURNING MYSELF ON MY RIGHT HAND FROM THE FLAMES. THE CAR WAS ENGULFED IN FLAMES AND EXPLODED OVER THE NEXT 3-4 MINUTES. CENTER AND BMW N.A. HAVE DONE VERY LITTLE (EFFECTIVELY NOTHING) TO ATTEMPT TO DETERMINE THE SPECIFIC CAUSE OF THE FIRE AND EXPLOSION NOR TO ALLAY ANY FEARS THAT MAY APPLY TO MYSELF OR THE SAFETY OF THE GENERAL PUBLIC - INDEED, THEY WON'T EVEN AGREE TO AN INSPECTION TO DETERMINE THE CAUSE. MY REPEATED QUESTIONS TO BMW N.A. AND CENTER BMW HAVE BEEN - IS THIS LIMITED TO JUST MY CAR OR IS THIS SYSTEMIC ACROSS MANY LATE-MODEL HIGH PERFORMANCE BMW?S CONSISTENT WITH THE MANY RECENT RECALLS CONCERNING WATER AND OIL PUMP FAILURES. - Consequence: An inflator rupture may result in metal fragments striking the vehicle occupants resulting in serious injury or death.
- Remedy: BMW will notify owners, and dealers will replace the passenger frontal air bag inflator or air bag module, free of charge. The recall began July 28, 2017. Owners may contact BMW customer service at 1-800-525-7417.

I really love the X6! In my opinion, it's definitely worth the extra money for the V8 engine. The residuals are better and the money factors were too. If I had to make a wish list, I would ask for a manual transmission option (BMW, are you listening?), a 5th seat in the middle of the back row, and handles above the seats. I know it's supposed to be a 'coupe', but come on, we need handles! I get more 'stares' in this car than I did in my M6 convertible. Surprisingly, it also feels faster than that vehicle. Overall, it's a really fun car/SUV, whatever it is, and I absolutely love it!

You're so lucky! You've owned over 250 vehicles, that's amazing! Out of all the cars you've driven and owned, the BMW X6 is definitely your favourite. You purchased a BMW X6 50i with the V8 twin turbo, but unfortunately, the design of having the twin turbos in the V of the engine caused some issues with the valve guides. This resulted in using a litre of oil every 500 kilometres. You went to get it fixed and were told it was better to put a new engine in, so you did. You were so happy with it until 2 days ago when someone tried passing you over a double yellow line and took out your driver front fender and front end. Unfortunately, it was a right off. But don't worry, you're going to buy a BMW X6 35i to avoid any engine problems and continue enjoying the best ride of your life!

By far the best BMW I have driven yet! I've had two X5s and a 328ix. I got Black Sapphire on Black, loaded. The X6 3.5i has lots of power, is good looking (a real head turner), rides like a car, has the sportiness of a coupe, and the utility of an SUV. It's a quality build, quality ride and really fun to drive! You should definitely get one... it's worth it!

I waited for a whole year to upgrade my car from X5 to X6. During the weekends, my family and I love to drive long distances and we had a great time with our X5. However, driving the X6 is a truly exciting experience. Our car is an xDrive 35d with a 6-cylinder turbocharged diesel engine that delivers 293 HP. I feel very comfortable and secure while driving it, thanks to its advanced safety features and control systems. We love its unique exterior design that sets it apart from other cars, as well as its excellent interior design. In conclusion, waiting for a year was definitely worth it.

I've owned or driven a range of xDrive BMWs, but this one is truly exceptional. The fit and finish is above and beyond BMW's already high standards, with a handcrafted feel on the inside and a futuristic look on the outside. I opted for the 5.0 V-8 engine and it did not disappoint - the roar alone was worth it. While it may not have much cargo space, this car is perfect for a single person looking for a fun and exciting ride. I highly recommend the Sport and Technology packages, as well as the Logic 7 premium sound system. Overall, this car is a must-have for anyone looking for a thrilling driving experience.

It seems quite expensive. While the Acura MDX may not be as fast, it is a better car and costs half as much. I hope to grow to like it, but right now I can't help but think that I could have gotten more for so much less!

Although I love this car, it was disappointing to experience oil leaks at 85,000 miles. However, it is important to note that this is a common problem with BMWs. The cost to fix the issue is $5000. In my professional opinion, it may be wise to consider selling the car before incurring further expenses on repairs.
