2012 Cadillac Escalade hybrid problems
The Cadillac Escalade is a full-size luxury SUV manufactured by General Motors and marketed by their luxury division Cadillac. It was the luxury brand's first major entry into the SUV market. The Escalade was introduced for the 1999 model year in response to an influx of new luxury SUVs in the late 1990s such as the Mercedes-Benz M-Class, Range Rover, Lexus LX, and (especially) Ford's 1998 debut of the Lincoln Navigator. The Escalade project went into production only ten months after it was approved. The Escalade is built in Arlington, Texas. The term "escalade" refers to a siege warfare tactic of scaling defensive walls or ramparts with the aid of ladders or siege towers. More generally, it is a French word which is the noun-equivalent form of the French verb escalader, which means "to climb or scale".
The Escalade is currently sold in North America and select international markets (Europe and Asia) where Cadillac has official sales channels. The Escalade ESV (Escalade Stretch Vehicle) is sold in North America, Russia, and the Middle East, but is only available by special order in some international markets. The right-hand-drive Escalade and Escalade ESV are available through third-party conversion specialists without official agreement with Cadillac in Australian, Oceanic, and Japanese markets.
On August 8, 2023, GM unveiled the Escalade IQ, an all-electric version of the Escalade, and the third model in Cadillac's EV line, after the Celestiq, and Lyriq. It is expected to go on sale in late 2024 for the 2025 model year, with a starting price of $130,000.

Common 2012 Cadillac Escalade hybrid problems
The 2012 Cadillac Escalade Hybrid is a full-size SUV that offers good fuel economy for its class and ample cargo space. However, it has some common problems that owners have reported.
One of the most significant issues reported by owners is a ruptured transmission cooler line. This problem occurred in a 2012 Escalade Hybrid after only one month and 1500 miles of driving. The owner reported that the car died due to a lack of transmission fluid, which was caused by a cracked rubber main transmission cooler line. The dealership replaced the lines, which took several hours due to the need to clean the undercarriage and engine bay of the car.
Another common problem reported by owners is the lethargic acceleration of the Escalade Hybrid. The car's V8 engine and electrically variable transmission (EVT) are designed to provide smooth and efficient power. However, reviewers have noted that the Escalade Hybrid accelerates somewhat sluggishly from a stop, and the transmission can be slow to respond to throttle inputs. This can be frustrating for drivers who expect quick acceleration from a large SUV.
The brakes of the 2012 Cadillac Escalade Hybrid have also been a source of frustration for some owners. Several reviewers have noted that the regenerative braking system can feel spongy and give uneven feedback. This can make it difficult to stop the car smoothly and can be a safety concern for some drivers.
The third-row seat of the Escalade Hybrid has also been criticized for its lack of legroom and comfort. The seat has a thin cushion and lacks legroom, making it uncomfortable for adults. Additionally, the third-row seat has to be tumbled forward or removed to maximize cargo space, which reviewers have disliked. Most other large SUVs have third-row seating that folds flat into the floor.
Finally, the 2012 Cadillac Escalade Hybrid has been reported to have a high rate of theft. This can be a concern for owners who live in areas with high crime rates or who park their cars in public places.
In conclusion, while the 2012 Cadillac Escalade Hybrid offers good fuel economy and ample cargo space, it has some common problems that owners have reported. These include a ruptured transmission cooler line, lethargic acceleration, spongy brakes, uncomfortable third-row seating, and a high rate of theft. Prospective buyers should be aware of these issues and consider them when making their purchasing decision.

Offering a Cadillac-estimated 450 miles of range1, the ESCALADE IQ elevates the driving experience with a curved pillar-to-pillar 55-inch total diagonal LED display, available Super Cruise® driver assistance technology2, vehicle-to-home bidirectional charging technology with GM Energy's available Ultium Home products, ...
How much horsepower does a 2012 Cadillac Escalade hybrid have?

What is the gas mileage on a 2012 Cadillac Escalade Hybrid?
If you're trying to be environmentally friendly, then the 2012 Cadillac Escalade Hybrid is not the way to do it. AT HIGHWAY SPEED WE EXPERIENCED SUDDEN AND REPEATED LOSS OF ELECTRICAL POWER AND RELATED POWER SYSTEMS. THIS WAS EVIDENCED BY DOOR LOCKS REPEATEDLY CLICKING ON AND OFF, NAVIGATION SYSTEM FAILURE, AIR CONDITIONING FAILURE, STABILITRACK FAILURE AND LACK OF POWER STEERING. MY WIFE WAS ABLE TO CONTROL THE VEHICLE AND AFTER SEVERAL CALLS TO ONSTAR AND THE USE OF OUR CELL PHONES WE WERE ABLE TO LOCATE A DEALER IN ROLLA. WE ??LIMPED?? INTO THE DEALER AFTER EXPERIENCING SEVERAL MORE ADVERSE FAILURE INCIDENTS. THE DEALER CHECKED OUT THE VEHICLE AND COULD NOT IDENTIFY THE CAUSE THROUGH RUNNING HIS DIAGNOSTICS. HE CONCLUDED THAT THE BATTERY WAS DEFECTIVE AND REPLACED IT ALLOWING US TO CONTINUE OUR TRIP. UNFORTUNATELY THIS EXACT SAME ISSUE RECURRED ON JUNE 21, 2014 WHILE DRIVING AT HIGHWAY SPEEDS IN THE DALLAS, TX AREA AND AGAIN, TWICE, DRIVING AT APPROX. 40 MPH IN FRISCO, TX ON JUNE 23, 2014. DURING THE PAST SEVERAL WEEKS I HAVE HAD NUMEROUS CONVERSATIONS WITH GM CUSTOMER CARE SEEKING ASSURANCES THAT THIS WAS A KNOWN PROBLEM AND THAT THE LATEST ??FIX?? WAS GOING TO PERMANENTLY CORRECT THIS SAFETY AND RELIABILITY PROBLEM. UNFORTUNATELY, I HAVE NOT BEEN SATISFIED THAT THIS PROBLEM HAS BEEN PERMANENTLY FIXED. I AM CONCERNED THAT WE WILL HAVE A RE-OCCURRENCE OF THIS PROBLEM IN THE FUTURE. *TR

I'm glad to hear that you're enjoying your car! It sounds like the Escalade has been a great choice for you, with an increase of about 5 mpg and an impressive 200 miles between fill-ups. It's great to hear that the magnetic ride control has made it the best riding vehicle you've ever owned, and the tight turning radius makes it easy to park. Thank you for sharing your positive experience with us!

Great SUV! Even though it is a hybrid, it has considerable power. When compared to other vehicles such as the Range Rover and GL550, they just don't match up for the features and the price. Your wife will love this vehicle, it is perfect for your family.

I'll get straight to the point: I get an average of 18 MPG, the iPhone 3G pairs easily and Bluetooth works great. The kids can watch and listen to movies with the included Bluetooth headphones, while parents can listen to 6-disc CDs/XM. The rear console A/V jacks keep cables out of sight when hooking up to an iPhone or a 111 game Nintendo knock-off or PSP. The exterior styling says, 'yeah, I'm making money' and prompts jealous onlookers. I used to exclusively buy Japanese cars, but not anymore! I'm 33 years old and I'm grateful for what I have.

It's a pretty SUV with a nice drive. I love the hybrid. However, I noticed that the CD player cannot be used when the children are using the DVD. Additionally, the Bluetooth system is not very good as it does not pull up the contact list, does not allow you to use the car keypad number, and there is difficulty pairing the 3G iPhone from Apple.

I'm feeling a bit frustrated with my car at the moment. I was hoping for a smoother experience with the navigation and CD player, but unfortunately it's not functioning as well as I had hoped. Additionally, I've had a few issues with the quality management and some of the interior components. Overall, I'm finding it a bit difficult to enjoy my driving experience.

Be cautious of this model. I purchased the Escalade Hybrid used for my family with the hope of enjoying its large comfort, good sound, and power and pulling capabilities. However, I have experienced serious problems with the electrical system, hybrid system, and power steering. The car dash flashes with strange warnings and then shuts off. The power steering went out, and this problem ultimately bricked it. Despite replacing the hybrid battery, regular battery, auxillary transmission pump, auxilary transmission module, and electronic control module, the car still does not run. Unfortunately, GM discontinued the steering position sensor, which I now need, and no aftermarket versions exist. I have invested a lot of money in this car, but the dealership, GM, and Cadillac have not been able to help me. I am disappointed with my experience and will not be purchasing another Cadillac.

We traded in our Lexus GX for this car because my husband really wanted it. Although it looks great on the outside and turns heads, we have had some issues with it. The bumper is cheaply made and broke when it was bumped while parked. The seat belts are also flimsy, making it difficult for my kids and myself to buckle in. We have decided to trade it in as it has lost over 10 thousand in value in just one year. The factory remote start also doesn't work consistently, which can be frustrating. Despite these issues, we still appreciate the car's unique features. It's important to note that this car requires premium fuel, not regular as some may suggest.

Well, I understand your concerns about Cadillac. It seems like for the price, you were expecting more attention to comfort and convenience. It's surprising that there isn't a cabin air filter, especially when even low model Toyotas have them. Perhaps a slightly smaller wheel size, like 20 inches, would provide a smoother ride. Additionally, it would be great if Cadillac could redesign the 3rd row seating folding to allow for more storage space. I appreciate your feedback and hope that Cadillac takes it into consideration.

At 134,000 miles, my car has unfortunately experienced issues with the air suspension, catalytic converter, info-tainment center, and now a collapsed lifter. However, I am confident in my decision to invest in repairing the engine by replacing all the lifters and having the piston milled at a machine shop. Despite the setbacks, I still believe that my car is a great investment and worth the necessary repairs.
