- Summary: There is rapid pecking noise / vibration when traveling during all right directional curves in the road. When I head in to a slight curve where the steering wheel only needs to be moved a few degrees to the right, the noise is such that I can feel it around the firewall and footwell of both driver and passenger side not to mention it is very loud and annoying. I notified Bill Jacobs BMW along with the brakes squealing while backing up) where I bought the vehicle and they said to take it to an Audi dealer. I went to Audi of Lexington KY and they were wanting to charge me over 8K to replace the exhaust. I did have the exhaust replaced and new front brakes completely replaced and the issue for both are still present. Very disappointed since I found TWO TSB's relating to my vehicle after paying so much for the work. There is a TSB for the Exhaust downpipe and mounts as well as a TSB for squealing brakes. Being told, all German cars have squeaky brakes is BS.

- Summary: I researched this issue and noticed a widespread problem with the light detection of the 2017 modes and the 2018 Audi Q7 left front-side marker light. I have had this issue with my vehicle twice, resulting in over 4,000 dollars in repairs each time. I noticed that the 2018 models were left off, but I am sure there are more owners with this exact problem, and I believe this recall should be granted to 2017-2019 owners since the vehicles are in the same generation and have the same vehicle components on them. This is a widely known issue and a clear cash grab for Audi as the repair process to fix this is over $4,000 dollars each time, and the issue has not been resolved and is not covered under many warranties.

- Summary: My 8-year-old's finger was in the door frame and the door came close enough to engage the soft close feature and she tried to pull her finger out as we watched the door slowly continue closing on it. After 4 x-rays the doctor determined it was not fractured, but it is badly bruised, swollen, and was cut. This should not be possible that it doesn't sense her finger. On a car not equipped with soft closing, this incident wouldn't have occurred.

- Summary: Audi Quattro (differential) noise is being heard while turning the car. The problem was identified to be due to different speeds between the front and rear differential, the locking effect of the center differential can differ significantly in tight bends. – unless there is a design flaw, there should be no noise coming from the differential . this is totally unheard of from any car I have owned. Problem was reported to Audi dealership and no definite solution was offered other than changing the oil for the center differential oil and checking to see if the problem goes away. if it does not, they would do further investigation. This is an Audi Quattro differential design fault that can be very dangerous if it fails on highways or under adverse weather or at high trafficked areas. I started an incident case (Reference #06217801) with Audi USA and Regional Case Manager (MR) told me that "our responsibility is to service the vehicles within the parameters of the New Vehicle Limited Warranty. This covers manufacturer’s shortcomings on parts and labor for 4 years or 50,000 miles (whichever occurs first) from the vehicle’s in-service date. Once these parameters have been exceeded, repairs do become the responsibility of the owner of the vehicle. Any diagnostic cost would be customer pay." This is why Audi has more class action law suits against them than any other auto brand. Keep in mind Audi has had more class action lawsuit (and lost) against them than any other Auto company. I have received 5 notices of Class Action lawsuit that Audi decided to settle in the last 6 years - just on one model. Needless to say, Audi (VW) puts faulty dangerous products on the road, hoping NHTSA has no appetite to go after them.

In both cases, I immediately lost power and put myself and cars around me at risk because I had to pull over onto the side of the road to re-start the car. After the second incident, I now have no confidence in taking my car, only 6 years old and with 74K miles on it, out of the city and into the countryside. The symptoms of this issue include frequent oil burn / oil top-offs. My car requires a quart of oil every 200-300 miles. There are no leaks in my driveway. The leaking all seems to be coming from the cylinders. I am taking my Q7 into a mechanic, again, next week and I am concerns the solution will be "new engine" which costs more than the car is worth.

- Summary: We have had major problems with our 2018 Audi Q7 that are consistent with allegations made in various lawsuits against Audi and Volkswagen Group of America for alleged defects with Audi piston rings and piston ring assemblies. The defects have purportedly caused excessive oil consumption, engine damage, and engine failure. As noted in one such lawsuit (that apparently settled), the engine failure caused by the defective Audi piston ring and piston assemblies could result in sudden loss of power to the engine. “It goes without saying that a sudden loss of power poses a clear-cut safety risk—it can prevent the driver from accelerating, maintaining speed, and even adequately controlling the steering wheel, engaging the brakes, all of which drastically increase the risk of collisions …” [XXX] v. Volkswagen Group of America, Inc. {XXX]) The problem with our Audi is consistent with the reports by plaintiffs in these lawsuits, as well as other Audi owners—including Q7s—who have shared their experiences online. Starting at around 60,000 miles, our vehicle increasingly consumed oil until eventually, we needed to add a quart of oil less than every 600 miles. And that’s despite our: 1) having followed all of the required oil change and other related maintenance standards published by Audi; and 2) having replaced the car’s CCV valve and PCV breather, which we were told sometimes corrects the problem. Most recently, in December 2023, I was driving with my children in the vehicle, and the engine started sputtering and laboring. Then the check engine light appeared. I was able to drive the car home but have been advised that, in order to make the car drivable, we’d have to replace the engine. Obviously, even if we have the engine replaced, the rebuilt Audi engine could have the same problems. Given the risk that the affected Audi engines will fail in vehicles traveling at high speeds on U.S. highways, the NHTSA should investigate this matter immediately. We have been the proud owners of our 2018 Audi Q7 Prestige for 9 months and have driven nearly 12,000 miles. We are absolutely thrilled with the vehicle! We have taken two cross country trips (2000 miles; 1200 miles) and several shorter (200 - 400 miles) journeys, and the car has been nothing but quiet and comfortable. It has reasonable visibility for a car its size and good storage capacity with third row seats folded. We have not experienced any mechanical issues at all. Living out West, we have found that the car cruises comfortably at 75 - 85 mph with good mileage for the vehicle's size, making our longer trips an absolute dream. Our only minor complaints are the infant-only sized third row seats and the lack of a spare tire. My wife has even hit 100 mph while passing other vehicles, but wasn't aware of her actual speed until I pointed it out to her! Overall, the vehicle is a bit pricey, but definitely worth it. We cross-shopped the usual suspects (Acura MDX, BMW X5, Jeep Grand Cherokee, Lexus RX 350, and Mercedes), and while the new generation BMW X5 is probably an equal or better car, it comes at a higher price for a comparably equipped vehicle.

The best driving car you'll ever own! It has a sleek exterior and a thoughtfully lush interior. The third row accessibility is the best on the market, with no impediments to climbing in or out of the vehicle. It also affords very good headroom from front to back. Plus, it's the quietest vehicle you'll ever drive. What a solid luxury SUV!

This is basically a well-made car. However, it could benefit from more storage capacity for tools and road gear. Additionally, the start-stop system should be optional as it could potentially cause an accident. On the positive side, this car looks great and has comfortable second-row seating. It also boasts good mileage for its horsepower.

If you're planning to use the Q7 mainly for city driving and occasional road trips, it's important to note that the mileage figures on the sticker may not be entirely accurate. Our experience with the car has shown that with a 2/3 city, 1/3 highway split, we've been getting an overall mileage of 14.7 mpg, even without using the Sport mode. We've been driving carefully, coasting and gliding on downhills, accelerating slowly, and letting off the gas well in advance of stop signs and stop lights, but we still haven't been able to achieve the 19/25 mpg figures advertised on the sticker. Our last tank of gas, which was mostly city driving, gave us 11.2 mpg. While we weren't expecting to be environmentalists, we did hope to get around 20-21 mpg combined. If you're looking for a more environmentally friendly option, you might want to consider waiting for the electric Audi SUV or going with the I PACE or Tesla X. Additionally, we've noticed some performance declines in the car in just the few months we've owned it, such as more lean in the corners, less responsive braking, and less absorption of bumps on the road. The braking has always been a bit odd, taking a while to really grab hold, and even then, it takes some serious time and distance to bring the car to a halt if you have any significant speed or momentum.

I waited a year into the remodel of the Q7 and was thrilled to own my first Audi. Although my excitement has waned, I have enjoyed the spaciousness of the 7-seater without the large footprint of an Escalade or Mercedes G series. The turbo 6 performs well with multiple occupants and cargo, and the seats are extremely comfortable. The ride is smooth even on rough surfaces. Coming from a BMW X6, I appreciated the additional space. However, the technology takes some getting used to, as it constantly changes Bluetooth connections between phones even though the main paired phone is actively playing music. The biggest issue has been the amount of oil I have had to add to this car over the 2+ years of driving it. The system seems to ask for a quart of oil every 3 months or so, which has been a bit of a hassle. Despite these minor issues, I have enjoyed my time with the Q7 and would recommend it to others.

I experienced several issues with my Audi, including squeaky steering, a faulty computer system that required two replacements, and excessive tire wear. Despite taking my car to Audi seven times, the steering issue was not resolved. Additionally, I found Audi's extended warranty to be challenging to work with, as they were unwilling to cover certain repairs without a legal dispute. Unfortunately, my experience with Audi WPB's service department was also unsatisfactory. However, I remain confident in my assessment of these issues and hope that Audi will take steps to address them in the future.
