Common 2023 Audi E-tron problems

The Audi e-tron 2023, Audi's electric SUV, has been reported to have several common problems by its owners. These issues span across software, brakes, and battery systems.

One of the most frequently reported problems is software-related, with the infotainment system freezing or crashing. The TSB states that a software update is necessary to optimize the function of the control unit with respect to balancing and stabilizing cell voltage in the battery system.

Another issue that has been reported is related to the regenerative braking system. The regenerative braking system is responsible for recovering energy from the braking process and storing it in the battery for later use. However, some owners have reported that the regenerative braking system has been failing, causing the vehicle to switch to manual braking after a few initial brake uses.

Battery problems are also a concern for Audi e-tron 2023 owners. Moisture entering the battery compartment can cause damage to electrical components and pose safety risks for drivers. Audi issued a recall in 2019 due to the potential for moisture to enter the high-voltage battery compartment through a wiring harness, which could cause electrical system malfunctions. The recall offered free repairs to affected customers, including the replacement or repair of electrical system components and the sealing of the affected areas.

In addition to these issues, some owners have reported problems with the vehicle's battery system modules. A small number of e-tron electric vehicles have experienced thermal overload, which is associated with battery modules exhibiting a critical self-discharge behavior. Audi has instructed dealers to install advanced onboard diagnostic software to detect potentially critical modules and advise owners to charge the vehicle at 80 percent capacity until the module can be replaced by a technician.

In conclusion, the Audi e-tron 2023 has been reported to have several common problems, including software issues, regenerative braking problems, and battery-related issues. While Audi has acknowledged many of these issues and taken steps to address them, it is important for potential buyers to be aware of these problems and consider them when making a purchasing decision.

Negative 2023 Audi E-tron car reviews

  1. Rodger Bauch 2024-10-29

The car itself would be nice... if it did what it was advertised to do. However, I have experienced some issues with the range being much shorter than advertised, the battery not charging properly and a current recall relating to fire issues. Unfortunately, Audi has not been very helpful in remedying the situation and seems to be taking a hands-off approach. It's disappointing to feel like they don't care about their customers. I hope they can improve their customer service in the future. As for me, I have decided not to buy another Audi.

  2. Bennett Lowe 2024-10-12

Let's start by discussing the range of this vehicle. It seems to be quite low, especially if you use the AC or interface, which can drain the battery. It would be great if Audi could improve the range to at least 320 miles. Additionally, some customers may be disappointed by the lack of software upgrades available. While the ride is comfortable, some may find the seats to be lacking in cushion and quality. For a car that costs $74k, the interior could be better, especially when compared to top-tier Toyota Camry models. Overall, there is room for improvement, and I hope Audi takes customer feedback into consideration. Thank you for your attention to this matter.

  3. Keith Stamm 2024-10-10

This is my 4th Audi and unfortunately, I have had some issues with the AudiConnect feature. It has been difficult to connect and the app has not been working as expected. Despite this, the car itself is reliable and gets me where I need to go. I have been in touch with the dealership and Audi to address the issue, but unfortunately, it has not been resolved yet. As a long-time customer, I am disappointed that I have not been able to fully utilize the features I paid for, but I remain hopeful that a solution will be found soon.

  4. Adolf Mueller 2024-09-19

This car exudes luxury! The seats hug you and even give massages! The technology is phenomenal and very intuitive. The only downside is the battery life, which doesn't quite reach the advertised 224 miles yet. According to Audi, it needs about 3,000 miles, so I'm still waiting.

  5. Jedediah Stanton 2024-08-14

Although this is not my first EV, I must say that I am disappointed with the Audi Etron. While it is a very nice car with great fit and finish, the critical reviews are correct in that it has a very limited range of only 220 miles per charge under ideal conditions. Unfortunately, I have not even been able to approach the 180 mile range. Additionally, the charging network in California is not always reliable, and the home charging with the 220 mobile chargers is very slow. Currently, there is a recall that prohibits charging at greater than 50% speed, which makes the car almost useless (think 9 miles per hour charge). Furthermore, my Etron has been in the shop for three weeks due to a charging problem. Despite these issues, I still love Audi and have owned two of their cars. However, they may want to reconsider their approach to the EV game.

Positive 2023 Audi E-tron car reviews

  1. Prince Considine 2024-11-07

The ride and handling are exceptional, receiving a 10/10 rating. The interior is impressively quiet, making for a peaceful driving experience. The range is perfectly suited for most uses, and charging stations are conveniently located everywhere. Why carry extra battery weight when it's not necessary? In terms of aesthetics, it's the best-looking all-electric SUV on the market. It also provides ample space for a family of four and a furry friend, making it just the right size. It's easy to park and manoeuvre, and the powertrain is both powerful and nimble. Overall, it's a very calming drive. My wife absolutely loves it!

  2. Nikolas Graham 2024-08-15

I recently purchased a PreOwned vehicle from Mercedes Benz Clearwater FL and I must say, they did a great job posting and selling it at a fair price. My brother, who is an avid researcher, purchased his 2019 eTron from Audi Omaha. As first-time owners of a PreOwned EV, my wife and I were looking for a mid-sized SUV with the best safety features. We test drove a PreOwned Kia EV 9 and were impressed with its dash layout, trim, and price. We also waited for the new Hyundai Ioniq 5 to arrive at our local dealership, but it didn't arrive before we test drove 2 eTrons. We were blown away by the Audi eTron and the technical expertise provided by Emily, one of the sales team members at Audi Omaha. We were confident in our decision to purchase the eTron due to its quality of design, safety technology, and workmanship, as well as the support provided by Audi Omaha. Although there is a learning curve to owning an eTron, the Audi App, including the owner's manual and video tutorials, has been a great help. We find that the eTron fits us very well and we continue to be impressed by its quality of design and safety features. Overall, we are very satisfied and pleased with our eTron purchase. We should learn more about regenerative deceleration/braking to help recharge and extend battery capacity between charges. When we look for a new EV, we will again consider the latest and greatest, and the eTron will be high on our list.

  3. Rylan Padberg 2024-08-07

    The vehicle drives great! :)

  4. Johnnie Crist 2024-07-15

I love the etron! The fit, finish, ride and performance are all fantastic. However, I do feel that the range of 200 miles (depending on conditions) is a bit low. Of course, as battery technology improves, we can expect to see longer ranges in the future. Unfortunately, the car in question won't benefit from these advancements.

  5. Stephan Rau 2024-06-12

This is a wonderful car to drive, and very comfortable. Unfortunately, it has limited range, so it's best for around town travel. The range declines quickly at 70 mph with the A/C running. Luckily, we have a comfortable IC car for overnight trips.
