Common 2014 Acura Tsx problems

The Acura TSX, a compact luxury car produced from 2003 to 2014, is known for its dependability but still faces several common problems. This article will discuss the most frequently reported issues with the 2014 Acura TSX, based on owner complaints.

  • Faulty Tire Pressure Sensors: Owners of the 2012 Acura TSX have reported problems with tire pressure sensors. The low tire warning light activates despite accurate tire pressure, causing inconvenience and unnecessary worry for drivers. Replacing the faulty tire pressure sensors with new ones is a common fix for this problem.
  • Engine Problems: Some owners of the 2010 Acura TSX have complained about engine problems, particularly during winter when the engine becomes colder than usual. Affected vehicles may refuse to turn on at cold starts, produce rattling noises, and require a jump start to get going. A bad VTC actuator is often the culprit, and replacing it is a common fix for this issue.
  • Excessive Oil Consumption: Problems with oil consumption are common in the 2009 Acura TSX. Some owners have noticed their check oil and engine light activating often, signaling a need for engine oil checks or refills. In some cases, the oil percentage may read 70/60, while the dipstick underneath the hood reads no oil at all. Others report burning as much as a quart and a half of oil every 1,000 miles. Although there have been no recalls to address this issue, some Acura dealerships may cover repairs related to excessive engine oil consumption.
  • Brake Issues: The 2009 Acura TSX had some brake issues, and the grille may peel if not properly cared for. However, after the 2009 model year, there are no known common problems or defects.

In conclusion, while the Acura TSX is generally a reliable vehicle, it is essential to be aware of these common problems, particularly for the 2012, 2010, and 2009 model years. Proper maintenance and inspection can help prevent or address these issues, ensuring a safe and enjoyable driving experience.

Negative 2014 Acura Tsx car reviews

  1. Afton Balistreri 2024-10-08

The TSX is a great luxury car, but unfortunately my experience with Acura of Ocean has been disappointing. The dealership could improve their customer service as they have been difficult to work with and not very attentive to customer needs. After a very expensive service, my car broke down on the Garden State Parkway due to a dead battery, which was supposed to have been checked by Acura of Ocean just a day before. This experience has left me feeling frustrated and disappointed. I hope that Acura of Ocean can improve their service in the future.

I purchased this car last December and after two weeks of driving, I noticed a whistling noise coming from the dash. The noise only occurred when the AC was on and the car was in motion. It was a high-pitched noise that came and went in intervals of seconds, which was very annoying. I contacted the dealer, who was great and did everything in their power to fix the issue. It took three attempts to identify the problem, but finally, they heard it. To cut a long story short, my car was out of commission for 60 days, 30 of which were consecutive. The dealer replaced the expansion valve and evaporator, performed a recovery/vacuum/charge of the system, and even replaced the Bluetooth as it was not working. After several phone calls and sending letters, the issue was finally resolved.

  3. Cristina Howe 2024-04-08

Although the experience with this car has been disappointing, it is important to note that it has only been driven for 5k miles in 19 months. While there have been some issues with the car's performance, it is important to consider the potential factors that may have contributed to these issues. It is also worth noting that the writer has owned several other car brands in the past, which may have influenced their expectations. Overall, it is important to approach this situation with a balanced perspective and consider all factors before making a final judgement.

Positive 2014 Acura Tsx car reviews

  1. Wellington Marks 2025-08-18

I completely understand the frustration of getting only 17.5 mpg on premium gas around town with my 2009 Acura TL. I considered other brands such as BMW, Mercedes, and Audi, but the extra cost just didn't seem worth it. Everything seemed to come with an additional price tag. However, when I went back to Acura, I was pleasantly surprised to find a Milano Red Limited Edition loaded TSX on the showroom floor. I immediately fell in love with its looks and decided to buy it on the spot. In my opinion, it is the most aggressive looking Acura with the body kit, and it just looks sexy and strong. Although I am giving up some power compared to the TL, I am also getting about 6 miles more per gallon down the road. Moreover, I hardly ever found a time when I could 'drive' the TL aggressively. At this point, I am not missing it much.

  2. Jevon Torphy 2025-08-18

It's great to read reviews from those who have traded 'down' from a European brand. I did the same, and my monthly lease payment is $120 lower than the Mercedes C300 AWD Sport I traded in. My family actually prefers the Acura for a lot of reasons... the only things I miss are the 6-cylinder refinement and the Mercedes bank vault build quality.

  3. Evan Wyman 2025-08-05

I absolutely adore my 2012 Acura TSX CU2 (4 cylinder)! It's hands down the best car I've ever owned. I've had a variety of vehicles in the past, but none of them compare to this one. What I appreciate most about this car is how versatile it is. It's quick, sporty, stylish, practical, efficient, luxurious, spacious and reliable. It's rare to find a car that excels in so many areas. Although it may not be the fastest, most practical, or most luxurious car out there, it does everything well and few other cars can say the same. I'm thrilled with it as a complete package. I love how fun it is to drive, the ample power it provides, and all the standard tech features that come with it (which are often extra in other cars). The fuel economy is also impressive (I get an average of 31.5 mpg in a 60/40 mix of highway/city driving - Honda really underrates their mpg). The trunk is spacious, and I've had no issues with reliability (I bought mine used with 110K miles and have had zero issues, including no oil burning). I even love the styling, especially after blacking out the beak with vinyl. Of course, the car isn't perfect. As I mentioned earlier, it's not particularly great at any one thing. If you're looking for a car that excels in a specific area, the TSX may not be the best fit for you. Additionally, the back seats are a bit cramped for a mid-sized sedan, and I wish my passengers had a bit more leg room.Secondly, I find it a bit bothersome that the car runs best on premium (91+ octane) fuel. Although it adds to its sportiness, I don't think it's powerful enough to require premium. Fortunately, premium is optional if you don't want to pay extra (although the car's character is noticeably different when running on 87 octane). Overall, I absolutely adore this car and I have never been happier with any other car (and I have owned many cars). My research showed that this was the best all-round sport sedan available and it really paid off. As a 2012 Acura TSX owner, I am extremely satisfied. I hope this information is helpful. :)

  4. Garnett Mosciski 2025-07-19

I recently traded in my Honda Accord with 199,000 miles on it. I really appreciated the reliability and fuel efficiency of the 4-cylinder Accord, and I was able to find a TSX for about the same price. I'm not quite sure if it's a sporty, economical car or an economical, sporty car, but it's definitely smaller than the Accord and comparable in size and appointments to the BMW 3 series. While the engine performance isn't quite up to par with the BMW, it's still a great car. The 'Technology' package is fantastic, and even though there are a lot of features I don't use, the stereo is amazing! I'm looking forward to driving it for another 199,000 miles. In another review, someone mentioned that with 93 octane gas and a K&N air filter, the car runs like a dream even with over 60,000 miles on it. They also added a pair of front slotted rotors and pads from Tirerack. The only downside is that the backseat is a bit tight for adults, and taller drivers over 6'2 might feel cramped. In yet another review, someone mentioned that even with over 70,000 miles on it, the car is still running great. They're getting a bit tired of paying for premium gas, but the performance difference is definitely noticeable.

  5. Korbin Haag 2025-06-15

I absolutely adore this car! I fell in love with it so much that I decided to buy it after my lease ended 2 1/2 years ago. Even now, I still can't find anything comparable that would convince me to replace it. The little 4 cylinder engine packs a surprising punch and the tech package stores all the songs I've loaded in via CD or auxiliary device. The interior is simply stunning. While the new TLX has gaudy, shiny buttons on the dash and corny wood grain on the console, my 2012 model has a sleek and sophisticated design. Although the back seat is a little small, I've managed to fit three teens in it without any complaints. The trunk is also a bit small, but let's be honest, I'm not planning on bringing home an elephant in this car! I do wish that Acura had continued some of the compartments that I use in my 2012 model, but that's a minor issue. The one thing that makes me consider a new car is the fact that Acura finally offers heated steering, which is a luxury that's highly desirable in the East. Overall, I find the front seat to be incredibly comfortable and the car itself to be very reliable. I can confidently say that Acura values their loyal customers and I'm proud to be one of them!
