Common 2006 Acura Tsx problems
The Acura TSX 2006 is known for several common problems that owners have reported. One of the most prevalent issues is a seat squeak in the driver's side seat, which can also feel a bit loose when accelerating or driving. This problem seems to be more common in the 2004 to 2006 models.
Another common problem is a click in the clutch pedal during travel, which can be felt when the clutch pedal is depressed, particularly in warmer weather. This issue may be resolved with extra lubrication of the plastics associated with the movement of the clutch pedal, but some TSX owners may need a new clutch pedal cylinder replacement.
The window motor module failure is another issue that appears to occur most often on 2005 TSX models before the 20,000 mile mark. Symptoms may include failure of the passenger's side door lock, and there is not much in the way of preventative maintenance here, just have to pony up and replace it.
Some TSX owners have also reported a dash light failure, which appears to be most common on 2004 models. Repairing this can be troublesome, as removal of the instrument cluster will be required, and in more severe cases, it's an issue of the wiring and board setup powering the cluster, that can require repairs.
The windshield wiper on the passenger side may squeak, especially during rain. Many owners who experienced this issue simply had the windshield wiper blade replaced, and the problem was resolved.
In addition to these issues, the 2006 Acura TSX has steering problems, and the 2009 version suffered from engine failures, which are costly to fix and tend to recur in a faulty vehicle.
Overall, while the Acura TSX 2006 has some common problems, many owners agree that vehicles built in this time frame are generally quite solid. However, it's essential to be aware of these issues when considering purchasing a used TSX or already owning one.
What is the most common problem with the Acura TSX?
Some common problems of the Acura TSX include power steering failure, faulty tire pressure sensors, and brake problems.
Is the 2006 Acura TSX a good car?
The TSX competes mainly with lower-end versions of the Audi A4 and BMW 3 Series, as well as the Lexus IS 250 and Volvo S40. While it doesn't really have the prestige of the German cars, the Acura TSX rates highly with us because of its premium interior and very impressive standard features list.
Is Acura TSX a reliable car?
The Acura TSX Reliability Rating is 4.5 out of 5.0, which ranks it 2nd out of 31 for luxury midsize cars. The average annual repair cost is $415 which means it has excellent ownership costs. The severity of repairs is low while frequency of those issues is average, so major issues are uncommon for the TSX.

STEERING PROBLEM
- Date Of Incident: 2018-12-29
- VIN: JH4CL96876C
- Components: STEERING
- Summary: I RECENTLY EXPERIENCED A COMPLETE FAILURE OF THE POWER STEERING RACK DUE TO A MAJOR LEAK OF FLUID TO THE POINT I COULDN'T MOVE THE STEERING WHEEL. THANK GOD IT HAPPENED RIGHT AFTER I GOT HOME FROM DRIVING ON THE HIGHWAY. JUST WHEN I PULLED TO PARK IN THE DRIVEWAY AND FOUND OUT THE FLUID IN THE RESERVOIR WAS COMPLETELY DRAINED AND EMPTY. I ADDED NEW POWER STEERING FLUID AND WITHIN AN HOUR IT LEAKED ALL OUT. TOOK IT TO AN INDEPENDENT SHOP A FEW DAYS LATER DUE TO THE HOLIDAYS AND FOUND OUT THE RACK AND PINION NEEDED TO BE REPLACED DUE TO THE BREAKDOWN OF THE SEAL ON BOTH SIDES. A WEEK BEFORE THIS HAPPENED, I TOOK MY CAR ON A 1200 MILES ROAD TRIP. I CONSIDER MYSELF LUCKY THAT IT DIDN'T BREAK DOWN WHILE I'M DRIVING ON THE FREEWAY AS THE RESULT COULD HAVE BEEN FATAL. CONTACTED ACURA CLIENT SERVICE MANAGER AND I WAS TOLD THERE WAS A RECALL ISSUED FOR THE POWER STEERING BUT IT WAS FOR A DIFFERENT PART, A HOSE, AND THAT MY REQUEST FOR REIMBURSEMENT FOR A DIFFERENT PART WOULD NOT BE COVERED. EVEN THOUGH IN MY OPINION THIS IS THE SAME SAFETY ISSUE FROM THE SAME COMPONENT, THE POWER STEERING. I QUESTIONED THE LOGIC OF THE MANAGER'S REASON FOR DENIAL AS THE BOTTOM LINE IS THE SAFETY OF THE PERSON DRIVING THE VEHICLE SHOULD THE POWER STEERING FAILS, REGARDLESS OF WHICH PART WITHIN THAT COMPONENT WAS RECALLED. UNFORTUNATELY, SHE DIDN'T SEEM TO UNDERSTAND THE SERIOUSNESS AND THE GRAVITY OF THIS PROBLEM. THEREFORE, I AM HERE WRITING THIS COMPLAINT SO HOPEFULLY, SOMEONE CAN UNDERSTAND AND RELATE TO WHAT HAS HAPPENED IN MY CASE.

SECONDLY I AM HAVING AN ISSUE WITH WHAT THE DEALER SERVICE STATED IS A RACK IN PINION ISSUE. THEY SAY IT NEEDS TO BE REPLACED DUE TO POWER STEERING SEEPING/LEAKING AND THAT THIS WOULD BE THE REASON FOR STEERING PROBLEMS. AGAIN ON NHTSA THIS SEEMS TO BE AN ISSUE WITH THIS MODEL YEAR. I NOTICE VIBRATION AND SLIGHT PULLING TO RIGHT WHEN DRIVING AND DROPS OF LUBRICANT IN MY GARAGE. WHEN I REACH EXCESS SPEEDS OF 55 I HAVE THE PULLING AND VIBRATION. 2006 Acura Tsx recalls
The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) has issued 4 recalls for different components of the 2006 Acura Tsx.
- Manufacturer: Dorman Products, Inc.
- Components: VEHICLE SPEED CONTROL:ACCELERATOR PEDAL
- Summary: Dorman Products, Inc. (Dorman) is recalling certain Accelerator Pedal Assemblies part numbers 699-114 and 825-5029-1, sold as replacement parts for 2003-2006 Acura MDX, 2004-2008 Acura TL and TSX, 2003-2007 Honda Accord, 2005-2006 Honda CR-V, 2007-2011 Honda Element, 2005-2008 Honda Pilot and 2006-2014 Honda Ridgeline vehicles. The rotating portion of the accelerator pedal assembly may bind. As such, these vehicles fail to comply with the requirements of Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard (FMVSS) number 124, "Accelerator Control Systems."
- Consequence: If the accelerator pedal binds, the engine may not quickly return to idle after the pedal is no longer pressed, increasing the risk of a crash.
- Remedy: Dorman will notify owners, and qualified service facilities will replace the affected accelerator pedal assemblies, free of charge. The recall began December 9, 2019. Owners may contact Dorman customer service at 1-800-523-2492, using option 5. Dorman's number for this recall is AS1019XXXX.
- Manufacturer: Honda (American Honda Motor Co.)

In states that use corrosive materials for deicing, driver's footwear may bring in materials that saturate the vehicle's carpeting, which is in contact with the vehicle's engine Electronic Control Unit (ECU). As a result, the ECU case may experience rust or corrosion. This damage may potentially cause the engine to stall.
- Consequence: A vehicle stall increases the risk of a crash.
- Remedy: Honda will notify owners and Acura dealers will inspect the vehicle and replace any damaged ECU, free of charge. All vehicles will have a waterproof cover installed onto the ECU, free of charge. The recall began during April 2013. Owners may contact Acura Client Relations at 1-800-382-2238 and select option 4 or go to www.recalls.acura.com.

- Consequence: OIL LEAKING ONTO A HOT EXHAUST PIPE WILL GENERATE SMOKE AND A BURNING SMELL, AND COULD POTENTIALLY RESULT IN AN UNDER HOOD FIRE.
- Remedy: HONDA WILL NOTIFY OWNERS AND DEALERS WILL REPAIR THE VEHICLES FREE OF CHARGE. THE SAFETY RECALL BEGAN MAY 28, 2010. OWNERS MAY CONTACT ACURA CLIENT SERVICES AT 1-800-382-2238.

It's great to hear that you're enjoying your TSX! Although it may not have all the luxury features of your previous Saab, it sounds like the TSX is still a great value. The car drives great and it's wonderful to hear that the voice recognition and bluetooth features are working flawlessly. It's interesting to note that you had to adjust your driving style coming from the Saab, but it's great to hear that the TSX never feels underpowered.

This car was purchased second hand with approximately 15,000 miles near model year end. It has provided dependable transportation around towns and on the highway and has had no major issues other than replacing the battery. I highly recommend this vehicle to anyone!

I love this car! Congratulations on your new purchase! It's great to hear that you found the perfect car after such a long search. Acura is a fantastic brand and it's wonderful that you were able to find a car that met all of your needs. It's clear that you're really enjoying your new car and that it's making your daily commute more enjoyable. Thank you for sharing your positive experience with us!

I really like the fact that this car comes with everything the TL has now. The DVD audio is the only exception but that's trivial. I can't live without the Homelink system to open my security gate and garage door. I truly appreciate the heated seats for my sore back. The navigation is fantastic. I don't know how I ever survived without HID headlights! I had a chance to borrow a Samsung A940 Bluetooth phone to try out the pairing and it worked great, even though the phone is not supported. My only concerns right now are the squeaking and creaking front seats, which I heard is some sort of seat rail issue.

Congratulations on your recent purchase of a used 2006 TSX! It's great to hear that you're enjoying the car and getting better gas mileage than your previous Nissan Altima. While there are a few convenience features that the TSX lacks compared to the Altima, such as the ability to view total mileage and outside temperature at the same time, the car's build quality and fun driving experience more than make up for it. It can be a bit tricky to get used to the location of the sunroof controls, but with time, it will become second nature. Thank you for sharing your thoughts on the car!
