Common 2007 Acura Tsx problems

The Acura TSX, produced from 2003 to 2014, is a compact luxury car known for its beautiful simplicity. However, some model years have common problems that potential buyers should be aware of.

  • Power Steering Failure (2012 model year): Power steering failure is a common problem for the 2012 Acura TSX, with owners reporting that their power steering stops abruptly while driving or the check power steering system light illuminates before the vehicle becomes difficult to steer. Replacing the EPS unit or the circuit board has fixed this problem in some affected vehicles.
  • Faulty Tire Pressure Sensors (2012 model year): Some owners of the 2012 Acura TSX have reported problems with its tire pressure sensor. The low tire warning light activates despite the tire pressure being accurate. Replacing the faulty tire pressure sensors with new ones is a common fix for this problem.
  • Engine Problems (2010 model year): Owners of the 2010 Acura TSX have complained about a variety of engine problems, especially during winter when the engine becomes colder than usual. Affected vehicles may refuse to turn on at cold starts, produce rattling noises, and need a jump start to get going. The noise is often caused by a bad VTC actuator, and replacing the failed actuator is a common fix for this issue.
  • Oil Consumption Issues (2009 model year): Some owners of the 2009 Acura TSX have reported problems with its oil consumption. The check oil and engine light are activated often, signaling a need to get the car's engine oil checked or refilled. Some drivers report burning as much as a quart and a half of oil every 1,000 miles. Although there have been no recalls to address this issue, some Acura dealerships may cover repairs related to excessive engine oil consumption.
  • Transmission Failure (2004, 2005, 2006, 2009, 2010, and 2012 model years): These models have been reported to have engine problems and transmission failure, with the 2010 model in particular dealing with excessive oil consumption. Interior accessory issues also appeared as secondary troubles in most of the models, providing inconvenient and occasionally expensive repairs.

When considering purchasing a used Acura TSX, it is essential to research the specific model year's common problems and consider the costs of potential repairs. The 2007, 2008, 2011, 2013, and 2014 model years are considered the best years for the Acura TSX, with fewer problems and a more reliable driving experience.

POWER TRAIN PROBLEM

  • Date Of Incident: 2011-02-24
  • VIN: JH4CL96867C
  • Components: POWER TRAIN
  • Summary: I HAVE A 2007 ACURA TSX AUTOMATIC AND THE TRANSMISSION MAKES A CLICKING NOISE WHENEVER YOU COME TO A COMPLETE STOP AND THEN START TO MOVE AGAIN. ACURA HAS STATED THAT ALL OF THEIR TRANSMISSIONS MAKE THIS CLICKING NOISE ALL THE TIME, HOWEVER IT IS NOT NORMAL FOR AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSIONS TO DO THIS AND NO OTHER CAR I HAVE EVER OWNED MAKES THIS NOISE. I'VE ALSO DONE MY RESEARCH AND ALL ACURA TSX AUTOMATIC OWNERS FROM THE 04-08 MODEL YEARS EXPERIENCE THIS CLICKING PROBLEM. THE PROBLEM SEEMS TO BE A BAD SHIFT LOCK SOLENOID AND BUSHING. SOME OWNERS HAVE HAD ACURA FIX THE PROBLEM ONLY FOR IT TO COME BACK IN 10K - 20K MILES. THERE SHOULD BE AN INVESTIGATION INTO A RECALL FOR THIS. I AM SURE IT COULD LEAD TO MORE ISSUES WITH THE CAR FURTHER ON. *TR

I HAVE TO BELIEVE THAT ACURA AND SAFETY ADMINISTRATION COULD SEE THE HARDSHIP THIS CREATES. WHY CAN'T THEY AUTHORIZE A DEALERSHIP LIKE MARKLEY MOTORS HERE IN FT. COLLINS TO PROVIDE THIS SERVICE. THEIR WAY COST ME TIME AND RESOURCES AND WASTES ENERGY!. IS THIS AN EFFORT TO DISCOURAGE PEOPLE FROM ADDRESSING THEIR PROBLEM? PLEASE LET ME KNOW IF YOU CAN ASSIST. 2007 Acura Tsx recalls

The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) has issued 3 recalls for different components of the 2007 Acura Tsx.

2019-10-10
  • Manufacturer: Dorman Products, Inc.
  • Components: VEHICLE SPEED CONTROL:ACCELERATOR PEDAL
  • Summary: Dorman Products, Inc. (Dorman) is recalling certain Accelerator Pedal Assemblies part numbers 699-114 and 825-5029-1, sold as replacement parts for 2003-2006 Acura MDX, 2004-2008 Acura TL and TSX, 2003-2007 Honda Accord, 2005-2006 Honda CR-V, 2007-2011 Honda Element, 2005-2008 Honda Pilot and 2006-2014 Honda Ridgeline vehicles. The rotating portion of the accelerator pedal assembly may bind. As such, these vehicles fail to comply with the requirements of Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard (FMVSS) number 124, "Accelerator Control Systems."
  • Consequence: If the accelerator pedal binds, the engine may not quickly return to idle after the pedal is no longer pressed, increasing the risk of a crash.
  • Remedy: Dorman will notify owners, and qualified service facilities will replace the affected accelerator pedal assemblies, free of charge. The recall began December 9, 2019. Owners may contact Dorman customer service at 1-800-523-2492, using option 5. Dorman's number for this recall is AS1019XXXX.
2013-03-15
  • Manufacturer: Honda (American Honda Motor Co.)
  • Components: ENGINE AND ENGINE COOLING
  • Summary: Honda is recalling certain model year 2004-2008 Acura TSX vehicles originally sold in, or currently registered in, Connecticut, Delaware, Illinois, Indiana, Iowa, Kentucky, Maine, Maryland, Massachusetts, Michigan, Minnesota, Missouri, New Hampshire, New Jersey, New York, Ohio, Pennsylvania, Rhode Island, Vermont, Virginia, West Virginia, Wisconsin and the District of Columbia. In states that use corrosive materials for deicing, driver's footwear may bring in materials that saturate the vehicle's carpeting, which is in contact with the vehicle's engine Electronic Control Unit (ECU). As a result, the ECU case may experience rust or corrosion. This damage may potentially cause the engine to stall.
  • Consequence: A vehicle stall increases the risk of a crash.
  • Remedy: Honda will notify owners and Acura dealers will inspect the vehicle and replace any damaged ECU, free of charge. All vehicles will have a waterproof cover installed onto the ECU, free of charge. The recall began during April 2013. Owners may contact Acura Client Relations at 1-800-382-2238 and select option 4 or go to www.recalls.acura.com.

  • Summary: HONDA IS RECALLING CERTAIN MODEL YEAR 2004 THROUGH 2008 ACURA TSX PASSENGER VEHICLES MANUFACTURED BETWEEN SEPTEMBER 25, 2002 AND FEBRUARY 13, 2008. PROLONGED HIGH UNDER HOOD TEMPERATURES MAY CAUSE THE POWER STEERING HOSE TO DETERIORATE PREMATURELY AND MAY CAUSE THE HOSE TO CRACK AND LEAK POWER STEERING OIL.
  • Consequence: OIL LEAKING ONTO A HOT EXHAUST PIPE WILL GENERATE SMOKE AND A BURNING SMELL, AND COULD POTENTIALLY RESULT IN AN UNDER HOOD FIRE.
  • Remedy: HONDA WILL NOTIFY OWNERS AND DEALERS WILL REPAIR THE VEHICLES FREE OF CHARGE. THE SAFETY RECALL BEGAN MAY 28, 2010. OWNERS MAY CONTACT ACURA CLIENT SERVICES AT 1-800-382-2238.

Positive 2007 Acura Tsx car reviews

  1. Charley Torphy 2024-11-03

Wow, I can actually take a nap while waiting for it to start! When I first bought it, I didn't realize it would take this long. Sometimes, when it rains overnight or if it's cold all day, or if I don't start it for over 8 hours, it takes 6-8 cranks. Does anyone else have this issue, or is it just me? I get a bit worried that it won't start at all and I'll be late for work. On a positive note, they were able to fix the issue with my steering wheel vibrating when I applied the brakes after I took it back.

  2. Kamron Watsica 2024-10-20

I love the car, but I'm not a fan of the gas mileage. It only gets 16.5 MPG in the city, even with premium fuel. However, the car does drive well. I used to have an SUV with a V8 that did better on gas, but I still love the way this car looks and drives. Just be prepared to pay a lot for gas, as it does tend to drink it up.

  3. Jermey Nader 2024-08-06

I'm so glad to hear that you love your car! It's fantastic to know that you're getting over 30 mpg on the highway and that it's comfortable even on a 10 hour trip. It sounds like you made a great choice!

  4. Omari Gleichner 2024-07-02

I have had this car for a week, but I have been lusting after it ever since it debuted in 2004. My wife bought it for me as a birthday present, and I have been ecstatic behind the wheel every day. The car handles the twisties with minimal body roll, and the engine is eager to rev. The steering is precise, and Honda does the best shifters in the business. The interior has the quality of cars costing 10K more.

  5. Jan Hoppe 2024-06-13

Great vehicle so far! I'm really impressed with the excellent MPG at 50-65 mph, averaging around 33-34 mpg. It runs smoothly and has a pretty quiet ride. Overall, it's an excellent car for the money. The only downside is that it could use more room in the backseat. I also want to mention that Acura has great service and makes a great car!
