2001 Acura Nsx problems
The Honda NSX, marketed in North America as the Acura NSX, is a two-seater, rear mid-engined, rear-wheel drive sports car manufactured by Honda.
The origins of the NSX trace back to 1984, with the HP-X (Honda Pininfarina eXperimental) concept, for a 3.0 L (180 cu in) V6 rear mid-engine, rear-wheel drive sports car. Honda, with the intention of meeting or exceeding the performance of the then V8 engine Ferrari range, committed to the project, aiming at both reliability and a lower price. The concept evolved and had its name changed to NS-X, which stood for "New", "Sportscar" "eXperimental", although the production model was launched as the NSX.
Gordon Murray, the designer of the McLaren F1 supercar, stated that he used the NSX as the inspiration after test driving many high-performance cars and finding that the NSX chassis performed the best. Murray found the design was "monumental" for sportscar design. He claimed the car could "easily" have handled more power and attempted to convince Honda to develop a more powerful engine, but Honda declined. This resulted in Murray developing his F1 with a BMW engine, but he was so fond of the NSX that he bought one for personal use - and drove it for 75,000 kilometres (47,000 mi). Murray said the NSX was "dear to his heart".

Common 2001 Acura Nsx problems
The Acura NSX, produced from 1990 to 2005, is known for its reliability. However, there are a few common problems that owners have reported, particularly with the early models.
- Clutch Health: Another issue to consider when purchasing an NSX is the health of the clutch. If the clutch needs to be replaced, it can be quite expensive. Therefore, it is advisable to check the clutch's condition and determine if it needs to be replaced soon.
- Tire Condition: Checking the tires is another important factor when buying an NSX. If all the tires match in brand, it is a good indication that the owner has taken care of the car. Additionally, checking for service records, including timing belt records, is crucial.
- Maintenance for Daily Driving: For those planning to daily drive an NSX, it is essential to be aware of the maintenance requirements. A post on Reddit mentions that someone daily drove their NSX for three years, but there is no information on the specifics of the maintenance.
- Labor Costs: Labor on the NSX can be expensive for various jobs. Therefore, it is recommended to check if any major mechanical work needs to be done and factor in the labor costs when considering purchasing an NSX.
In summary, while the Acura NSX is known for its reliability, potential buyers should be aware of these common issues, particularly with the early models. Checking the snap ring, clutch health, tire condition, maintenance requirements, and labor costs can help ensure a smooth ownership experience.
Is the Acura NSX reliable?
The nature of the question, “Which NSX has the most miles,” makes it an ever-changing, and difficult-to-settle one. However, with two examples racing towards 500,000 miles (804,672 km), it's safe to say that the NSX is no exception to the legend of Honda reliability.
Is NSX expensive to maintain?
1 Acura NSX
The average annual maintenance cost of the Acura NSX is about $354, which is basically half the maintenance cost of an average vehicle.
Why did the Honda NSX fail?
The NSX's powertrain, with its one-off hybrid setup, was simply too much for the world at the time. The gimmick was cool, but no one wants to say they have a V6 under the hood. Everyone wants the status quo or something similar to it. Acura's VTEC was mainly meant for Honda Civics and the tuned-out Fits.
Why is Acura NSX not selling?
The Acura ILX has been discontinued because the company plans to focus on the Acura Integra for the sedan market in the United States. The Acura NSX, on the other hand, has been discontinued due to declining sales and the company's focus on electric vehicles.

This silver NSX-T has been our daily driver for ten years and we absolutely love it! It's the perfect car for two people to get around in and we've found it to be the most satisfying car we've ever owned. We've had over a dozen cars in our fifty years together, with more than half of them being sports cars, but this one takes the cake. Even though getting out can be a bit of a challenge at our age, we've never had a car that's been so enjoyable in every way. As someone who has raced Formula Ford and is an aerospace engineer, I can confidently say that this is a superbly designed car in all aspects. While we only get 21 mpg, our Corvette friends still grimace at that. The clutch has been a pleasure to use and our first one lasted an impressive 97K. Additionally, the headroom is perfect for someone who is 6 feet tall and someone even did a tall mod. Overall, we highly recommend this car to anyone looking for a reliable and enjoyable ride!

This car is really cool! You can't find anything better for that price. It's like a Lamborghini, but more affordable.

For anyone reading this, let me tell you that this is simply a car enthusiasts' dream. This is the best sports car I have ever owned. Everything you read and hear about this car is true. It handles better than any car, it is unbelievably reliable, and exceptionally fast. It turns heads at every corner.

This is the best car I have ever owned, and I've owned 79 cars! It's beautiful from every angle, and everyone who sees it up close wants to ask about it. Even though many people have never heard of it, most assume it's 2 or 3 years old and costs 100K or more. It's often confused with a Ferrari. Not only is it comfortable, but it also handles like it's on rails, has a great stereo, and is a convertible. When we drove from Colorado to Austin, we never went below 75 mph and never got less than 26 mph. It's a surefire investment, and its value is going up fast since the new model came out this year. The market value is now in the low 50s for mine.
