- Consequence: An improperly tightened seat belt buckle may not restrain an occupant as intended, increasing their risk of injury during a crash.
- Remedy: Dealers will inspect and tighten the second-row seat belt buckle anchorage bolts, as necessary, free of charge. Owner notification letters were mailed January 19, 2024. Owners may contact Volvo Car customer service at 1-800-458-1552. Volvo Car's number for this recall is R10259.

I recently traded in my 2021 XC90 T8 for a 2024 T8 and I must say, it's even better than the previous model! All the little quirks have been ironed out and the charging pad that I previously complained about is no longer an issue. The navigation has been replaced with Google Maps, which is a great improvement. The dashboard has been upgraded and the touch screen is now much easier to use. The XC90 was already a very comfortable and fast car, but the battery now has almost double the range, which is over 36 miles! The Bowers Wilkins sound system has also been upgraded and it sounds amazing. After looking at all the cars in this class, I can confidently say that the XC90 is currently the best three row SUV to choose.

This is a lovely vehicle in many ways. My wife and I had to choose between the T8 and a Mercedes GLE450, and we ultimately went with the Mercedes. While we didn't need the XC90's third row and weren't fans of the cargo space floor with the seats down, we could have made do. Although we found the Mercedes to be more powerful, we could have been content with the T8's power. While we preferred Mercedes' interactive tech, we could have been satisfied with Volvo's. However, the deciding factor for us was the sun visor! Volvo's sun visor is small, cheap, and doesn't telescope, and that was a dealbreaker for us.

I recently purchased a 2022 XC90 Recharge and drove it from Oregon to Seattle on the same day. I must say, I thoroughly enjoyed every aspect of the car. Here are my first impressions: The lane assist and auto pilot features are surprisingly handy. The drivetrain is powerful and efficient, delivering 30.5 mpg over 180 miles of mostly highway driving. Although the touch screen control has a lot going on, I found it fairly easy to navigate and much more intuitive than any Audi I've owned. The ride quality is quiet and confident for such a large car, and the interior is nicely appointed and uncluttered. Some controls may require a review of the manual to fully understand, as there are many options available.

There are limited choices for 3-row PHEV SUVs. However, we found the perfect fit for our needs. We live in a city and charge at home but do regular road trips to our vacation house, so we wanted a vehicle that can do both. After considering several options, we decided on the Volvo. Even though it's an older design, it still feels like the right choice. We got the Ultimate with the optional air suspension, which I think is worth it. The seats are amongst the best I've ever sat in for comfort, and the seating position is high, providing excellent ride quality. The pure electric range is decent, and the electric-only acceleration is adequate, making it practical to use in Pure EV mode. In hybrid mode, it is FAST because of the combined power of the engine and electric motors. This car is something of a sleeper - 0-60 in less than 5 seconds. In a straight line, it's on par with the BMW, Audi, and Mercedes performance trims. The switch between pure electric mode and hybrid is actually quite smooth, and the 3rd row seats are comfortable for kids and small to mid-sized adults. Overall, it's big and roomy enough for us - no need to step up to a true full-size, truck-based SUV like an Escalade/Yukon/Tahoe/Navigator/Sequoia. The only downside so far is that Apple CarPlay is wired only, which can be a bit of a pain when you're used to wireless in other cars.- The built-in Google system is okay, but there are certain apps that don't work well. For example, we've never figured out how to get the built-in Waze app to work properly. The dream is that the built-in Waze would display the map on the screen behind the steering wheel, like it does for Google Maps. So, we have to use Apple CarPlay for Waze, which is fine, but it only shows the map on the central screen. Many of the built-in Android apps are just not on par with the Apple iOS equivalents.- Sirius satellite radio is implemented as an app in the Google system, rather than being integrated into the car directly. This is mostly fine, but it means you can't see anywhere what station you're on, what song is playing, etc unless you have the Sirius app in the foreground on the screen. In most other cars, this info is shown somewhere even when you're on other apps.- The charging port has 2 covers - inner and outer, and it is manual. This is a PHEV, so the battery is quite small, and you need to charge it pretty much daily if you want to avoid using gas. So, it seems an odd choice to add both an outer and inner flap that needs to be opened and closed each and every time. It's just an extra pain every day. Our Audi Etron has a nice, motorized EV charging port flap.- The car developed a rattle from the backseat after only 500 miles, which is annoying for a new car, especially one that is so quiet that you can hear everything.Overall, it's close to a 5/5, but not quite there yet.

The air suspension can be unreliable at times, and there are some issues with the controls on the seats, as well as accessing the heat and air. The car may not feel as luxurious as expected, and there are some discomforts such as lack of storage space and cup holders. However, the Bowers and Wilkins stereo and massage seats are definite highlights. If you are considering this car, I would recommend taking it for a test drive to see how much it can hold. I do want to note that we have had some issues with this Volvo, and have contacted the company several times to resolve them. Our saleslady Sara has been wonderful and has documented everything, including videos. While the car may not always understand our commands and there have been some safety concerns, we are working with Volvo to address these issues. Overall, I still believe that Volvo is a safe and reliable brand, and I hope that our experience can help improve the car for future drivers.The door on the driver's side turns off the vehicle when opened, which can be inconvenient. Additionally, the seats are uncomfortable and can cause discomfort during long drives. However, it is important to note that these issues may not be apparent until after driving the car for a while. It can also be frustrating when voice commands are not understood by Hey Google. Last week, we traded in our Audi Q5 for an XC90 Ultimate. After driving it for a little over a week and about 150 miles, I can share a few comments. Firstly, if you don't have 20/20 vision, you may find the key difficult to use. The controls on the FOB are too small to see, which can be frustrating. Additionally, I found it inconvenient that all the controls are on the screen, as it can be distracting to take your eyes off the road while driving. Thankfully, many of the controls can be verbally controlled by Google. Even the vibrating seat needs to be controlled from the screen and doesn't have a timer to turn it off. The car drives very loosely, like a boat, which is different from our BMW or Audi that have much better road feel. However, there are many positives to this car! The interior is stunning, and the seats are super comfortable. The Bowers & Wilkinson stereo may be the best I've ever heard. The $1800 air ride will take some getting used to, so I won't comment on it yet. There are a ton of amenities in the car, and the GPS is great. The ride on a straightaway is okay, and I guess on a long ride, it won't tire you out. I highly suggest involving some older individuals in the design and controls, as they will probably be 75% of the buyers at $78,000. I'll follow up at a later date once my mind can wrap around all the IT features. I miss my Audi! However, we do feel VERY safe driving this huge machine. Update after 6,000 miles: I'm starting to think that the lousy dealer prep may have been the reason I didn't love this beast. So much for the $1000 prep charge. After rotating and balancing the tires (which the dealer never did), the car drives much better. Electronics are still a pain, but I can deal with it. Would I ever buy another Volvo? No!
