The Volvo S60 is a compact executive car manufactured and marketed by Volvo since 2000.

The first generation (2000–2009) was launched in autumn of 2000 in order to replace the S70 and was based on the P2 platform. It had a similar designed estate version called Volvo V70 and a high performance engine and sports-oriented suspension version called S60 R. Styling cues were taken from the ECC concept car and the S80.

The second generation (2010–2018) was released in 2010 for the 2011 model year and has its own estate version, known as the Volvo V60.

The third generation joined the Volvo line-up in 2018 for the 2019 model year. It is built on a shortened version of the Scalable Product Architecture platform, in America's first Volvo factory in Ridgeville, South Carolina. The US became the sole global source of the S60 sedan after production in China was phased out in early 2019.

Summary: Volvo Car USA, LLC. (Volvo Car) is recalling certain 2019-2024 S60 vehicles. The passenger air bag may not be secured properly, which can cause the air bag to deploy improperly.
Consequence: An air bag that does not deploy properly in a crash increases the risk of injury.
Remedy: Dealers will inspect and tighten the bolts securing the passenger air bag, as necessary, free of charge. Owner notification letters were mailed January 5, 2024. Owners may contact Volvo Car customer service at 1-800-458-1552. Volvo Car's number for this recall is R10254.

The seat belt automatic locking retractors may deactivate early, which can prevent the child restraint system from securing properly. As such, these vehicles fail to comply with the requirements of Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard number 208, "Occupant Crash Protection."
Consequence: An unsecured child restraint system can increase the risk of injury during a crash.
Remedy: Dealers will inspect and replace the seat belt assemblies, as necessary, free of charge. Owner notification letters were mailed October 13, 2021. Owners may contact Volvo Car customer service at 1-888-458-1552. Volvo Car's number for this recall is R10111.

The 2019 S60 T6, being the first model year of the new S60, boasts an impressive interior and exterior finish. However, it has come to my attention that the car experiences some vibration issues, particularly at speeds of around 75 mph. While this issue seems to be well-documented online in Volvo forums, I am not certain if the T5 fwd suffers from the same problem. Despite Volvo's attempts to address the issue by balancing tires and replacing rims, the ride quality of this 45k automobile is still unacceptable. It is worth noting that there is a Technical Service Bulletin about the vibrations, but it appears to be ineffective in correcting the issue. It is important to acknowledge that there are numerous complaints online about the new Volvo SPA platform with vibration issues, particularly with the AWD vehicles.

I recently had an experience with the 2021 Volvo S60 T6 AWD Inscription, VIN digits 3850. I ordered the car in June of 2020 and it was delivered to the dealer from the factory on 10/23/2020. The car was equipped with all available options, including Polestar software, and had an out-of-door price of $57,450. Although the dealer was approximately 90 miles away from my residence, I received the car on 10/29/20 from Volvo Cars Mission Viejo. Unfortunately, the car experienced some issues at mile 28, with the odometer at 34 miles. When I contacted the dealer, they advised me that the car needed to be towed in since one should not drive without operational signals. Although it was a frustrating experience, I was able to schedule an appointment with San Diego Volvo and they were able to repair the car. Despite some initial difficulties, I am happy with the service I received from San Diego Volvo.When we attempted to collect the car the next day, we encountered the same fault (no signal, no 360 degree camera) and were sent back on our way (without the car), and were forced to leave the car over the weekend. The following week, we were called again to collect the car. This time, the car functioned for three full days before resuming the same fault. The situation then escalated, and the car refused to start at random intervals. Unfortunately, we are now stuck with a brand-new vehicle (with less than 500 miles on the odometer) and no recourse other than to hire an attorney. We advise against purchasing this car. Although it may look good on paper (which is why we bought it), it is the most unreliable vehicle we have ever owned, including the garage queen Audi Q5. When it does drive, it is inferior to the A4 and much, much worse than any Lexus sedan we have owned (LS and GS). Any comparison with the BMW 3 series (presumed competition) is just laughable – its handling is boat-like for anyone accustomed to BMW precision and stiff chassis. However, the worst part of the experience was the actual Volvo customer “support” – it turns out that there is no such thing in existence.

As a customer, I'm disappointed with my purchase, but I'm optimistic that the company will work to make things right.

I was considering purchasing the 2019/2020 Volvo S60 and decided to rent one for 2 weeks to test it out. Unfortunately, my experience was not great. While the engine and drivetrain were good, the car had some serious ergonomic issues. The driveshaft tunnel was too high and there was very limited storage space. The touchscreen menus were frustrating and the car only had one USB port, which is not acceptable for a luxury car. Additionally, the seating position was uncomfortable and the poor visibility was a safety concern. The trunk space was also limited, which made packing for a family trip challenging. During my rental, I experienced some issues with the car's workmanship and design. Overall, I was disappointed with my experience, especially since I used to own a Volvo 960.The transmission went out one day and the quote to fix it was $3500. After putting in a reconditioned transmission for $2200, I decided to sell. Unfortunately, I was disappointed that Volvo's quality had not improved in the last 20 years. Needless to say, I will not be buying, leasing, or recommending any Volvo in the future. It's just not worth the headache, frustration, and money.

I absolutely love the car's looks, both inside and out. I have noticed that some people have complained about the infotainment system, but I personally find it very easy to navigate. The voice controls are also very responsive. While many people don't typically associate Volvo vehicles with speed, I have found that it can easily outpace aggressive drivers on the freeway, much to their surprise! The car handles beautifully and is both fun and relaxing to drive. The suspension is just firm enough to provide a sporty feel without being jarring, and the seats are incredibly supportive and comfortable. While I am still unsure about the long-term reliability of the vehicle, everything has been running smoothly so far.

The all new S60 is a fantastic ride, satisfying and sure-footed. It comes with so many features as standard equipment that are only available as upgrades in its competitors (BMW 3 series, Audi A4, AR Giulia, MB C-class), such as paddle shifters and blind spot monitoring. The premium package includes equipment that would cost much more in other brands. My wife and I traded in our 2017 S60 Inscription for this new R-Design, and this is her daily driver, so we can make a fair comparison to the prior model, which we think is a wonderful automobile. What we noticed first about the 2019 model is that Volvo listened to its owners and responded with greater attention to details, such as the seat memory buttons. In the 2016 model, you would have to hold the memory button down while the seat moved to its position (yes, I know, a tedious First-World problem). In the 2019 model, one press of the button and the seat re-positions (along with the mirrors), allowing you to do other things to get ready and go. The stereo system (600 watts Harmon-Kardon with 14 speakers) is vastly improved and can stand up to just about any other sound system in the segment. The leather seats and the bolstering are incredible, and having nappa leather seating is so much nicer than having the chemical odor of faux leather so pervasive in the BMW 3 and Mercedes C classes. The T5 power plant is superb. With butter-smooth shifting, almost no turbo lag, and more than enough horses and torque to get up and go, the punchy response and acceleration will please most around-town drivers--and the car MOVES gracefully on the highway. The S60 is not large, but it feels solid and connected to the road at low and high speeds. Comfort and interior styling get an A+. A tall adult will fit fine in the back seat, having far more legroom than in the BMW 3 series and far more headroom than the MB CLA.The standard panorama sunroof is a great feature that sets this car apart from the competition. Although some critics have raised concerns about the large touch screen control interface, it is not difficult to become adept at interacting with the car. The inclusion of both Apple CarPlay and Android Auto as standard features is a welcome addition that was missing in the 2017 model. We found the steering to be responsive and the car to be whisper quiet. Contrary to some reviews, the suspension and 18 inch wheels handle urban highways with ease. Driver visibility and confidence are superb. If you are in the market for a compact luxury ride (although it is hard to imagine the S60 as compact), we highly recommend putting the S60 on your test drive list. It is a uniquely Volvo car that stands out from the crowd, offering a driver's car experience while also being an executive's show horse. Volvo has definitely arrived in the small luxury sedan line-up with a car that exceeds the competition in so many ways. This is a car that lets you run in the pack without running with the pack.

I've owned many Volvos over the years, and I must say that this (along with the 2019 XC60 I leased a week earlier) is an exceptional vehicle. I was so impressed with the features of the XC60 that I went back to the dealer to test drive the S60, and within an hour traded in my 2015 Acura TLX for this car. I really like everything about it, and I couldn't be happier with my decision. The safety features, the technology, the design, and the spaciousness are all fantastic. There are times when I feel like I must have picked up the S90 by mistake, because there's a great sense of roominess inside. I also love the color, Pine Grey with a Blonde/Charcoal interior. I'm very, very happy with my decision.

I'm thrilled to share my experience with Volvos! My family has been driving Volvos for generations, and I recently purchased my third one - a 2021 T6 R-Design S60 in Pebble Grey Metallic with Slate interior. This car is fully loaded with every available option, including the Bowers & Wilkins audio system and the Polestar Engineered software upgrade. I couldn't be happier with my purchase! As someone who used to race motorcycles and ski, I appreciate a car that is both fast and comfortable, and this Volvo delivers on both fronts. While I considered several comparable BMWs, Mercedes-Benz, and Genesis cars, I ultimately chose the Volvo for its combination of style, performance, and technology. The Polestar option gives the car a nice little rumble from the exhaust, and I can't wait to take it on some long trips once it's safe to do so. The car's gorgeous looks, sporty handling, and comfortable interior make it a joy to drive. The Bowers & Wilkins sound system is absolutely the best I have heard in a car, and the touchscreen system is very intuitive. While there are a couple of minor cons, such as the lack of approach lighting and a power tailgate, overall, I'm extremely satisfied with my purchase.All in all, I absolutely love this car. If you are in the market for a great sports luxury sedan and want something you won't see at every stoplight, it deserves a look.

Hi there! I just wanted to share my experience with Volvo cars. I recently purchased my second Volvo S60 in a row and I must say, I'm really impressed with the driving experience, transmission, and safety features. I opted for a white T5 Momentum with the premium package, heated seats, and blonde leatherette interior. It's definitely an upgrade from my 2013 S60, with much more rear legroom and a smoother driving experience. If you're considering the blonde leatherette interior, I highly recommend it as it looks and feels exactly like the leather model. On the other hand, black leatherette feels and looks different. One thing I learned during my purchase is that you can add the adaptive cruise control after the fact, which was a must-have for me. This option saved me from having to buy the multimedia and advanced driving packages, which would have cost me a few thousand more. I found that the T5 drove better than the T6, as it was smoother and quieter but still had plenty of power. Although I would have liked the 4-wheel drive, I've had FWD Volvos in the snow in the past and they were fine. Overall, I'm really happy with my purchase and I hope this advice helps you too!
