Volkswagen Cc problems

The Volkswagen CC, initially sold as the Volkswagen Passat CC, is a car built by German marque Volkswagen from 2008 to 2016. It is a variant of the Volkswagen Passat that trades headroom and cargo space for a coupé-like profile and sweeping roofline. The CC debuted in January 2008, at the North American International Auto Show in Detroit and was discontinued after the 2017 model year.
Volkswagen said the name CC stands for Comfort Coupe, recognizing its combination of a coupe-like profile with four rather than two doors. While based on the Passat, and sharing its wheelbase, the CC is 27 mm (1.06 inches) longer, 50 mm (1.97 inches) lower, and 36 mm (1.42 inches) wider than the Passat.
While the CC has been replaced by the Arteon in most markets, the latter vehicle retains the CC nameplate in China.

Common Volkswagen Cc problems
The Volkswagen CC has been known to have several common problems, primarily related to its engine and timing chain. According to CarComplaints.com, the worst problem category for the Volkswagen CC is engine problems. This issue is particularly prevalent in the 2012 model year, which has the highest number of complaints regarding engine problems. The most frequently reported problem is the check engine light turning on, which can be a sign of various engine issues.
One of the primary concerns with the Volkswagen CC engine is the defective timing chain, which has been reported in multiple model years, including 2011 and 2012. The timing chain is designed to last the lifetime of the vehicle, but in the Volkswagen CC, it has been known to fail prematurely, causing significant engine damage. The main concern is the failure of the timing chain tensioner, which can lead to the timing chain slipping and causing the engine's pistons and valves to collide, resulting in severe engine failure. This issue has led to a class-action lawsuit against Volkswagen, with allegations that the company knew about the problem and should have informed consumers.
Another common problem with the Volkswagen CC is the frequent timing belt failure, which can also lead to engine issues. This problem has been reported by drivers and has contributed to the car's low reliability rating.
The Volkswagen CC has also been known to have problems with the transmission, which can lead to issues with the car's driving dynamics. This problem has been reported by drivers and has contributed to the car's low reliability rating.
In addition to engine and transmission problems, the Volkswagen CC has also been known to have issues with the brake lights, which can be a safety concern for drivers. This problem has been reported by drivers and has contributed to the car's low reliability rating.
Overall, the Volkswagen CC has been known to have several common problems, primarily related to its engine and timing chain. These issues have contributed to the car's low reliability rating and can lead to significant repair costs for drivers. It is essential to be aware of these problems when considering purchasing a Volkswagen CC, particularly for the model years with the highest number of complaints.
Is the Volkswagen CC reliable?
Repairpal.com indicates that the average annual repair cost of a used Volkswagen CC is $880, which is higher than average in terms of ownership costs for similar vehicles. Given this fact, it's imperative that you take your used Volkswagen CC to a repair shop if you notice any problems with it.
What problems does VW CC have?
The CC, among other VW models, is known to have timing chain issues. Designed to last the car's lifetime, the timing chain has been reported to fail early, causing significant engine damage. The main concern is the failure of the timing chain tensioner, leading to the timing chain slipping.
How many miles can a VW CC last?
You can expect a typical Volkswagen to last around 200,000 miles, which is solid for any vehicle. The Volkswagen CC matches up with this average on the higher end, though it could come in lower in some cases.
Why did VW stop making the CC?
Now, Volkswagen has cast off the aging, underperforming model as it seeks to reclaim lost market share and revenue with the CC's shadowy replacement. Sources tell Britain's Autocar that assembly of new CCs has ceased as the automaker preps an all-new entry to slot above the midsize Passat.

- Summary: Started having problems with the fuel tank at around 65,000 I had an extended warranty on the vehicle and around 80,000 they replaced the entire fuel tank… recently, I started smelling gas very strongly inside my vehicle and took it to a honest mechanic who was able to find the fuel pump which is located behind the backseats he told me the pump is sweating and there’s a puddle of gas in it and that’s why I have the strong smear smell of gas in my vehicle. He says that it’s not even safe for me to drive the vehicle at this time and at this time, I’m trying to buy another car because I have to keep the windows down, so I don’t pass out from the smell of gas … I called Appleton Volkswagen of Sanford as they switched out the whole fuel tank at 80,000. The vehicle has about 190,000 now … there was just a recall put out for the fuel pump for certain Volkswagen year 2015 and above, but the CC is not on this.? I I feel like it should be in the recall because my car is very unsafe to drive and I’m scared that I’m gonna blow up a fire of flames right now just driving it to the repair they’re not because this is very unsafe ……

- Components: ENGINE
- Summary: Hi, I’ve had my turbocharge replaced in October of 2020 at the Volkswagen dealership in Wichita, KS. Just recently my car started driving funny again such as not accelerating like it should with a slight whining noise. I can only get up to 25-30 mph then the whining noise starts up to where I have to take my foot off the gas, let my speed drop itself then proceed to accelerate again which is very dangerous. Since I had already experienced this problem not even 3 years ago I knew but I still went to get the car diagnosed and again it is the same exact problem not even 3 years later.

Volkswagen Cc 2016
- Date Of Incident: 2020-02-22
- Date Complaint: 2023-05-05
- VIN: WVWBN7AN2GE
- Components: AIR BAGS
- Summary: I purchased my Volkswagen CC in 2019. It hasn't been officially 4 years of owning the vehicle, and the clock spring or air bag light comes on in which it seems every 1.5 years. It costs over $800 to repair, and the first repair was replaced by certified VW OEM parts. I can't get an inspection and pass because the horn will not work. My safety is put at risk as I can't warn other drivers who aren't paying attention that I am close by. I actually ended up getting a ticket for switching lanes so fast due to getting out of the way of a vehicle on the interstate who almost ran into me. There is no warning when this happens, it just decides to stop at any given time. This page will not allow me to upload the other scanned diagnosis that was repaired from 2020. Please advise.
Volkswagen Cc 2013
- Date Of Incident: 2023-04-01
- Date Complaint: 2023-04-14
- VIN: WVWBP7AN5DE
- Components: STEERING,ELECTRICAL SYSTEM,AIR BAGS
- Summary: While I was driving I notice my steering wheel making a crumbling of plastic noise when I made any kind of turn . A few days later my Airbag error lamp started to blink. I parked and restarted my engine then the airbag became solid . My dash read “Airbag Error” . I notice all my steering wheel buttons do not work . Came home and neither does my horn . My car has never been in accident , but I feel it’s a safety hazard . I’m basically driving mute and I’m sure my airbag will not deploy in case of accident . Also, Vw does have a recall on the Clock spring but was never completed due to not hearing back from manufacturer . That was a few years back and do not understand how recalls work , but a recall was started for a reason and NOT completed. Is that even possible? This a serious safety issue if I’m in an accident without an Airbag . Also the horn will not work in case to warn other drivers of a possible fatal hazard

- Date Complaint: 2023-02-10
- VIN: WVWBP7AN4FE
- Components: AIR BAGS,FORWARD COLLISION AVOIDANCE
- Summary: My Cruise Control unit will not engage. And I have (6) six warning lamps showing every time I operate the car. With these lamps showing on the info system screen, the cruise control Will not engage! I asked the dealership about it. And was told that the wheel bearing unit has moved away from where it is bolted on. And now it is touching the Air Bag control module. That's why I've got six lamps showing up on the center info screen, every time I operate the car. And on another incident. I was traveling on the interstate and their was some water that had collected in a dip between hills. And when I traveled through it, the force of the water flowing into the engine department, knocked the cruise control OFF. Disengaged it. I'm am available for inspection of said vehicle. Oh yes, this happened once before, but all of a sudden all the warnings lamps turned off. But I'm not so lucky now. It doesn't seem to affect the Air Bags any, But I could be Wrong! The dealer explained what has happened within the components of my problem. But, since I wasn't forth coming to pay them to check or repair it, nothing got done. And it has been going on for about 6 - 8 months.

This is my second VW CC. I traded my 2011 CC Sport 2.0 for a 2014 CC V6R 4Motion. I also researched and priced Audi A6 3.0, Audi A5 Cabriolet, and BMW 535. In my opinion, the CC V6 AWD Executive offers nearly all the same features and quality with exceptional styling, comfort, and ergonomics. It drives very similarly to the Audi A6 3.0 Quattro for nearly $20k less.

The 2015 CC is a fantastic car that offers excellent value for money. It comes with many of the same options as a BMW, Audi or Mercedes, but at a much lower cost and with equally stunning looks (if not better!). The car is built to last and has great handling and acceleration. If you're a Baby Boomer, make sure the dealership walks you through all of the amazing technology. It's definitely worth it!

I bought this car after researching and test driving several models that fit my budget of under $40,000. I am thrilled with the great features, powerful engine, and amazing handling. It can go from 0 to 60 mph in just 5.53 seconds, and the fuel consumption is excellent. The design is sleek and modern, and the headlights are a standout feature. The navigation system is top-notch, and the Bluetooth is extremely reliable with voice commands. You can even watch videos on the screen and save music to the radio's hard disk. It's a blast to drive, and the Sport mode really lets you feel the power when you accelerate. I test drove several other models, including the BMW 325 and 335, Audi 2.0T and 5, and Infiniti G37, but ultimately chose this car because it felt the best to drive.

I bought my cc brand new and it has been a very reliable and great value entry-level luxury car. It comes with all the bells and whistles that you could want. The seats are firm but comfortable on long trips. The car handles and corners beautifully and has a solid feel overall. Occasionally, the navigation fails and gets confused about which road I'm on, but I just ordered a map update that I hope will fix it. The grill is made with plastic and has a cheap feel, which is a bit disappointing for an entry-level luxury car. However, the cost savings may have come from this area. The resale value is not great, but that's not necessarily a bad thing if you're buying used. UPDATE: With 31,000 miles, the driving experience just seems to be getting better. The car has a nice balance of smooth cruising and sporty acceleration when needed. The navigation has been fixed with a new update and the overall MPG on the highway has improved to 35 MPG. The DSG transmission is very smooth and there are no squeaks or rattles in the interior. I can't recommend this car enough. It feels more like an Audi than a VW to me.

I hope you're doing well! I wanted to share my experience with my car. I've had it for 13 months and have really enjoyed the ride comfort, power, and fuel economy. However, I did notice that it was burning oil at about 15,000 miles. I brought this to VW's attention and they tested it, confirming that it is burning 0.29 quarts every 1000 miles, which translates to 2.9 quarts between recommended change intervals. While VW says this is okay, some automotive engineers believe it is evidence of an engine defect. I still think the car is a marvel in many ways, but I do want to warn you about the oil burning. Unfortunately, VW does not disclose this to buyers until after they have bought the car, which I think is a bit sleazy.

You can find the model specifications and technical details on the VW website, so I won't go into that. Instead, I'd like to share my personal impressions of the car. I recently purchased a 2014 CC sport in black for my daily commute, which is a 9-mile drive one way, five days a week, and I also take it on two road trips a year. This is my third VW, having previously owned a Jetta and a GTI. The buying experience was typical, but I was happy with the fair deal I received. The interior and exterior design, fit, and finish are all top-notch. The seams are close and even, the textures are supple, and the ergonomics are well thought out. Driving the car is a pleasure, with a softer ride than the GTI but still very firm. The engine is very responsive, and driving is effortless. However, I must mention that within 30 days of owning the car, the interior developed several squeaks and rattles, which the dealer was unwilling to fix. The driver's mini glove box even cut my hand, and the blower fan made a squaking noise in the morning. The blower eventually died and was replaced under warranty. When I turned the car in with 18,000 miles on it, at least two of the tires were worn out. The dealer said it was due to the steering angle from VW. Twice, I was stuck at a gas station with the fuel door frozen shut (even though there was no recent moisture or snow), and one of the rear seats was locked in the up position, making it impossible to load any long items from the trunk. Despite these issues, the car's comfort, powertrain, and driveability are its strong points, and it's no wonder they were giving them away.

It's been a great 4 years with my car, having driven it for about 80K miles. When everything is working correctly, it's an absolute pleasure to drive. However, I have had to replace the steering column lock, have the heads cleaned, and attend to several other minor issues. These are things that I would expect to happen after the car has well over 100K miles. Unfortunately, the maintenance costs have been quite high. Additionally, I've learned that it's a bit fragile. I was going about 8 miles/hour when I put it into a snow bank at the bottom of the driveway, and the damages are in excess of $4K. Despite this, I've enjoyed driving it. However, I've decided to replace it with a more cost-effective vehicle.

I purchased this car as a commuter vehicle about 2 years ago and have put over 50k miles on it. Unfortunately, my experience with this car has not been great. The speedometer is 5 mph off, which VW informed me is acceptable in their vehicles. Additionally, the trunk opens when putting the car into gear unless you lock the doors beforehand. The car also idles quite roughly when first started, and the small engine paired with a turbo makes pulling out into traffic a bit of a challenge due to the lag before the engine responds to the gas pedal. To make matters worse, the air conditioner sensors have gone out twice. While there are other issues I could mention, I will simply say that this will be my first and last VW.

Vehicle year: 2011
I purchased this car because it had the look and feel of a low-end luxury car for a reasonable price and handled well. However, maintaining it has been a challenge for the past 2 1/2 years. Despite having relatively low mileage for a 2011 model, at just over 56K miles, I have had to pay bills of $1,600, $2,100, and $3,100 during the last three regular services. This has been a bit of a shock as I have never had to pay such high repair bills on a car with such low mileage. I also had to replace my tires at around 22K miles due to a problem with the CC that caused them to wear out quickly. Although one of the repairs was covered by a recall, the others, including issues with the electrical system, airbag slot, water pump, and an expensive repair to address the tire issue, were not. I have had a few repairs covered by the extended power train warranty, but it is about to expire, and I am concerned about future expenses. I have decided not to purchase a VW again. Now, I am trying to decide whether to keep the car and get more value for my money or sell it before I incur more expenses.
