2011 Volkswagen Cc problems
The Volkswagen CC, initially sold as the Volkswagen Passat CC, is a car built by German marque Volkswagen from 2008 to 2016. It is a variant of the Volkswagen Passat that trades headroom and cargo space for a coupé-like profile and sweeping roofline. The CC debuted in January 2008, at the North American International Auto Show in Detroit and was discontinued after the 2017 model year.
Volkswagen said the name CC stands for Comfort Coupe, recognizing its combination of a coupe-like profile with four rather than two doors. While based on the Passat, and sharing its wheelbase, the CC is 27 mm (1.06 inches) longer, 50 mm (1.97 inches) lower, and 36 mm (1.42 inches) wider than the Passat.
While the CC has been replaced by the Arteon in most markets, the latter vehicle retains the CC nameplate in China.

Common 2011 Volkswagen Cc problems
The 2011 Volkswagen CC has been reported to have a significant issue with its timing chain, which is designed to last the lifetime of the car. However, it has been found to fail prematurely, leading to severe engine damage. The main concern is the failure of the timing chain tensioner, causing the timing chain to slip and resulting in the pistons and valves colliding, leading to catastrophic engine failure. This problem is prevalent in VW vehicles produced between 2008 and 2013, including the 2011 CC, and Volkswagen faced a class-action lawsuit over this issue.
In addition to the timing chain issue, the 2011 CC has also been reported to have engine stalling problems. Owners have reported that their check engine light came on, and the car ran poorly. After multiple repairs and replacements, including the intake manifold and spark plugs, the car still didn't run. In some cases, the engine had to be replaced before reaching 100,000 miles.
The 2011 CC also received complaints of engine stalls and a broken fuel pump.
The 2011 CC has received 147 complaints and four recalls, making it one of the Volkswagen CC years to avoid when shopping for a used car. The timing chain issue is the most common problem, and it has caused significant engine damage to many 2011 CC vehicles. The engine stalling and transmission issues have also been reported, making the 2011 CC a problematic car model.

- Summary: I WAS LEAVING THE STORE WHEN I NOTICED MY VEHICULAR WOULDN'T GO OVER 30 MPH. I PULLED INTO ANOTHER STORE TO ASSESS THE SITUATION. WHEN I TURNED MY CAR BACK ON AND WAS ATTEMPTING TO LEAVE MY CAR STOPPED WORKING. I HAD IT TOWED TO THE SHOP AND THEY ADVISED ME TO CALL VOLKSWAGEN BECAUSE THIS ISSUES WAS LIKELY COVERED UNDER A WARRANTY. I CALLED VOLKESWAGEN AND THEY SAID MY WARRANTY WOULD COVER IT UP TO 120K MILES AND TO TAKE IT TO THE LOCAL DEALERSHIP. I HAD THE CAR TOWED AGAIN TO THE DEALERSHIP AND THEY INFORMED ME THAT THE TIMING CHAIN WAS BROKEN AND THEY SAID MY WARRANTY JUST EXPIRED AT 100K MILES. MY CAR HAS 108K MILES. AFTER DOING A LOT OF RESEARCH I FOUND THIS TO BE A FREQUENT PROBLEM WITH THIS MANUFACTURE. I NEVER RECEIVED NOTICE OF THE RECALL OR I WOULD HAVE TAKEN IT IN TO GET LOOKED AT BEFORE THE 100K MIKE CUTOFF. BECAUSE THEY SAID THIS WASN'T COVERED IN THE WARRANTY, I LOOKED INTO BUYING ANOTHER CAR FROM THEM. THEY INFORMED ME THAT THEY COULD GIVE ME $250 FOR MY VEHICLE. NOW I KNOW VOLKSWAGEN IS TRYING TO AVOID PAYING FOR THIS BECAUSE THEY KNOW THEY CAN MAKE MONEY.

THE INFORMATION ALSO STATES THAT THIS COULD AND DOES HAPPEN WHEN THE VEHICLE IS MOVING WHICH COULD PROVE TO BE VERY DANGEROUS. THIS NEEDS BE INVESTIGATED AND THE SIMPLE FACT THAT DEALERS, SERVICE DEPARTMENTS AND VW CALL CENTER PERSONNEL ARE NOT AWARE OF THIS ISSUE AND BASICALLY DENY ANY KIND OF LIABILITY IS EXTREMELY UNJUST.

2011 Volkswagen Cc recalls
The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) has issued 4 recalls for different components of the 2011 Volkswagen Cc.
- Manufacturer: Volkswagen Group of America, Inc.
- Components: AIR BAGS:FRONTAL:DRIVER SIDE:INFLATOR MODULE
- Summary: Volkswagen Group of America, Inc. (Volkswagen) is recalling certain 2009-2014 Volkswagen CC, 2010-2014 Golf, 2010-2014 Eos, 2007-2010 Passat Sedan and Wagon, and 2012-2014 Passat vehicles. Upon deployment of the driver's frontal air bag, excessive internal pressure may cause the inflator to explode.
- Consequence: In the event of a crash necessitating deployment of the driver's frontal air bag, the inflator could explode with metal fragments striking the vehicle occupants potentially resulting in serious injury or death.
- Remedy: Volkswagen will notify owners, and dealers will replace the driver's frontal air bag inflator with an alternative inflator, free of charge. The recall began March 16, 2018. Owners may contact Volkswagen customer service at 1-800-893-5298. Volkswagen's number for this recall is 69Q9. Note: This recall partially supersedes recall 16V-078.
- Manufacturer: Volkswagen Group of America, Inc.
- Components: FUEL SYSTEM, GASOLINE:DELIVERY:FUEL PUMP
- Summary: Volkswagen Group of America, Inc. (Volkswagen) is recalling certain 2009-2016 Volkswagen CC, 2006-2010 Passat and Passat Wagon vehicles. Interruption of electrical power to the fuel pump control module may cause the fuel pump to fail.
- Consequence: If the fuel pump fails, the engine will stall, increasing the risk of a crash.
- Remedy: Volkswagen will notify owners, and dealers will replace the fuel pump control module, free of charge. The recall began June 26, 2018. Owners may contact Volkswagen customer service at 1-800-893-5298. Volkswagen's number for this recall is 20AE.

- Summary: Volkswagen Group of America, Inc. (Volkswagen) is recalling certain model year 2010-2014 Golf, 2007-2010 Passat sedans and wagon, 2012-2014 Passat sedan and Eos, 2009-2014 CC, 2009-2012 Audi Q5, 2010-2012 S5 Cabriolet and 2010-2012 Audi A5 Cabriolet vehicles. Upon deployment of the driver's frontal air bag, excessive internal pressure may cause the inflator to rupture.
- Consequence: In the event of a crash necessitating deployment of the driver's frontal air bag, the inflator could rupture with metal fragments striking the vehicle occupants potentially resulting in serious injury or death.
- Remedy: Volkswagen will notify owners, and dealers will replace the driver's frontal air bag inflators, free of charge. Volkswagen issued an interim notification to owners on April 12, 2016, and will send a second notification when parts are available. Volkswagen will notify owners again once parts are available. In the affected vehicles, debris may contaminate the air bag clock spring, a spiral wound, flat cable that keeps the air bag powered while the steering wheel is being turned. This contamination may tear the cable and result in a loss of electrical connection to the driver's frontal air bag.
- Consequence: A loss of electrical connection to the driver's frontal air bag will prevent the air bag from deploying in the event of a vehicle crash, increasing the risk of injury.
- Remedy: Volkswagen will notify owners, and dealers will install a protective cover over the steering wheel clock spring if the air bag light is off. If the airbag light is on and the steering wheel clock spring requires replacement, dealers will install a new steering wheel clock spring. These repairs will be performed free of charge. The recall began on January 15, 2016. Owners may contact Volkswagen customer service at 1-800-822-8987.

I love this car! It looks cool, functions well, and satisfies all my needs. It's like having a BMW/Benz but at a much lower price.

I see that you haven't owned a VW since the Carman Gia, Beetle, and Squareback. I've been a Honda owner for many years and they are great cars, but I agree that their looks are starting to fall behind. I recently switched from a Honda Ridgeline to a VW CC and I must say, it looks sexy and drives excellently. VW has really improved their reliability as well.

I'm so glad to hear that you found a car that meets your needs and budget! It sounds like the 2011 VW CC Luxury Plus is a great choice, especially with all the features it comes with as standard. It's always a bonus to save money while still getting the quality and engineering you're looking for. Thank you for sharing your positive experience with us!

My wife hates 4 door sedans, but she said she would drive this car every day. I previously owned a 200 Toyota Camry with 215,000 miles. Needless to say, this car feels like and drives like a Ferrari...I'm guessing haha

I have owned VWs for 20 years, including an 86 Jetta, 92 Jetta, 98 Jetta, 2002 Passat, and most recently a 2011 CC 2.0T. Out of all the cars I have owned, I have loved my CC the most. However, I understand that you are here for advice. As someone who grew up as a VW gear head, I believe I know a lot about these cars. I purchased my 2011 CC in 2014 with about 40k on it and ran it HARD up to 180k. Despite never changing the antifreeze or flushing the transmission fluid, the car has been amazing. As long as you plan and take care of it reasonably, you will have no issues. When it comes to tires, I recommend paying up for the OEM ones as they are worth it and will save you money in the long run. Coil packs will fail at around 90-100k, so replace them all when one fails and plan to do it again at 150k. I never had any problems with the suspension, even when driving in New England where the roads are full of potholes. The turbo was bulletproof and I loved it every single day. You can't kill it. One thing to keep in mind is that the rear main seal can become an issue, so plan for this and put away the money for when it needs replacement. Overall, this is a great car that is fast and fun. As long as you do the normal maintenance, you will enjoy it. Plan on spending about $1100 per year on maintenance costs, and set it aside in a separate account so that you are prepared when it needs work. Enjoy! By the way, I am buying a newer CC as I write this because I like them that much.

Let's start with the issues I've had with my new vehicle. Unfortunately, I've experienced some problems with the power steering pump and water pump, which needed to be replaced. Additionally, the transmission performance has been comparable to an older model. However, I have found that using the manual shift mode has improved the experience. It's worth noting that the speedometer is slightly off, which can affect mileage. Lastly, I've had some trouble with the tail lights. Despite these issues, I'm hopeful for a positive outcome.

This is a great car and everything is still working fine. However, we did notice that the cost of maintenance is quite high due to the need for premium gas and low profile tires. We also had an issue with the trunk opener, which required a $100 diagnostic fee and an $800 repair cost. Additionally, a few warning lights came on. Overall, it's a pleasure to drive with its 200 HP engine, but the gas mileage could be better. Leasing may be a better option than owning for some. Thank you for sharing your experience!

Although the exterior and interior styling of the CC is fantastic, the DSG transmission may not meet the expectations of those who have driven a well-built, thoughtfully engineered car or truck from a reputable manufacturer. The transmission causes a significant hesitation from a stop and the shifts are jerky and unpleasant, which can turn every city trip into a manic journey along the torque curve. However, once the car is up to speed, everything settles down, making the CC an enjoyable highway car.

This car requires regular maintenance to ensure optimal performance. It is recommended to have it serviced before reaching 80,000 miles to avoid any potential issues. In my experience, neglecting this maintenance resulted in costly repairs, such as a $400 radio replacement. However, with proper care, this car can provide reliable transportation.
