2011 Toyota Tacoma problems
The Toyota Tacoma is a pickup truck manufactured by Japanese automobile manufacturer Toyota since 1995. The first-generation Tacoma (model years 1995 through 2004) was classified as a compact pickup. The second generation (model years 2005 through 2015) and third generation (in production since 2015) models are classified as mid-sized pickups. The Tacoma was Motor Trend's Truck of the Year for 2005.
As of 2015, the Tacoma was sold in the United States, Canada, Mexico, Costa Rica, Bolivia, Bermuda, and the French overseas collectivity of New Caledonia. Most markets across the world receive the Toyota Hilux in lieu of the Tacoma.
The name "Tacoma" was derived from the Coast Salish peoples' name for Mount Rainier in the U.S. state of Washington.

Common 2011 Toyota Tacoma problems
Based on complaints from owners of the Toyota Tacoma 2011, several common problems have been reported:
- A/C Not Working: Owners have reported issues with the air conditioning system not functioning properly. This could be due to leaks in components like the A/C condenser or problems with the A/C compressor. One common area of concern is the blower motor and blower motor resistor, which can lead to the blower motor only working at the highest speed.
- Rusted Frames: There have been complaints about rusted frames in the 2011 Toyota Tacoma. Some owners have experienced rust on the frame, even though the warranty coverage has expired. Toyota has initiated Customer Support Program ZKA and Limited Service Campaign K0D related to frame corrosion, particularly in cold climate states. It's crucial for potential buyers to inspect the frame for rust and damage before purchasing a used Tacoma.
- Weak Rear Leaf Springs: Another prevalent issue is related to weak rear leaf springs. Toyota issued Safety Recall E02 for certain model year 2005-2011 Toyota Tacoma vehicles to replace rear leaf spring assemblies. Additionally, the rear leaf springs tend to squeak when driving over bumps, often due to worn-out or missing spacers. It's essential to check for sagging at the back of the truck, indicating a weak spring.
These problems highlight some of the key issues reported by owners of the Toyota Tacoma 2011. Regular maintenance and thorough inspections can help address these concerns and ensure the longevity and performance of the vehicle.

IT IS THE BRAKES!, THE MOST IMPORTANT SAFETY FEATURE ON ANY CAR. MY TRUCK HAS BEEN PARKED AND WILL STAY THAT WAY UNTIL SOMEONE (HOPEFULLY TOYOTA) FIGURES OUT WHAT IS WRONG AND WHY.

If the screws loosen completely, the seat belt pre-tensioner and the retractor spring cover could detach from the seat belt retractor.
- Consequence: If the seat belt pre-tensioner detaches from the seat belt assembly, the seat belt pre-tensioner will not perform as designed, increasing the risk of injury in a severe crash.
- Remedy: Toyota will notify owners, and dealers will inspect the seat belt assemblies. Based on the inspection, the seat belt assembly will be replaced or new pre-tensioner screws will be installed with thread-locking sealant and a retractor spring cover with stopper ribs to prevent loosening of the screws. These vehicles were sold with labels that were outside the allowable one percent of accuracy of actual weight added. Thus, these vehicles fail to comply with the requirements of Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard (FMVSS) Number 110, "Tire Selection and Rims."
- Consequence: An inaccurate label could lead to owners overloading their vehicles and tires. An overloaded vehicle can result in a tire failure which may result in a vehicle crash, personal injury, or property damage.
- Remedy: Southeast Toyota will notify owners and provide a corrected label with instructions concerning its installation. A small group of the affected vehicles will need additonal remedies which are still being developed. The recall began on May 28, 2013. Owners may contact Southeast Toyota at 1-800-301-6859.

This could increase the risk of personal injury during the event of a vehicle crash necessitating airbag deployment.
- Remedy: Southeast Toyota will notify owners, and dealers will test the sensitivity of the occupant detection sensors, and recalibrate them as necessary. The recall began on March 21, 2013. Owners may contact Southeast Toyota at 1-800-301-6859.

Negative 2011 Toyota Tacoma car reviews
Positive 2011 Toyota Tacoma car reviews
-
I love the 2011 Tacoma! It's great that I was able to get the biggest 2WD available. Surprisingly, the 4.0L V6 gets better mileage than my old 4 cyl car did. The truck is very nice and has a smooth ride. The features and creature comforts are wonderful. Although it's pretty large, it almost feels like you're driving a Tundra. The ride is still comfortable even through California traffic and on California highways.

You'll never find a more reliable and versatile vehicle.
-
Best 4-cylinder truck I ever had.

I'm so glad I decided to take a look at Toyota when I was in the market for a new vehicle. Even though I wasn't initially considering it, I'm now a proud owner of one. It's perfect for my needs as I needed a vehicle that could tow, haul passengers, and equipment. The back seat is incredibly spacious and beats out any of its competitors. I've had no issues towing my boat and trailers, and the ride is smooth without any bouncing in the short-bed. The power is more than enough, and the shifts are seamless. While the city MPG could be a bit better, I'm still getting a decent 22+ mpg. The tie-down rails in the bed work great, and there are plenty of drink holders, although the center ones could be a bit bigger. Overall, it's a very quiet ride and I'm extremely satisfied with my purchase.

I love my Tacoma. This is actually my second Tacoma. I've owned Chevrolet Silverados and S10s before. The Tacoma offers behind the passenger seat storage that is unmatched by any other small truck. It also has two storage compartments under the passenger seats, as well as gas storage compartments in the bed of the truck.

I have owned 4 Toyotas in the past. Unfortunately, this latest one has not met my expectations. The materials used in the interior feel cheap and the space is cramped and awkward. I have experienced several mechanical failures which have been frustrating. Despite this, I am still open to considering Toyota in the future. During my last visit to the dealership, I spent some time discussing the Cruise Control issue which was not resolved to my satisfaction. However, I understand that there may have been some extenuating circumstances. I have had some issues with the engine, but these were resolved by the dealership. I have also had to replace two rear bearings, a differential and a front strut. Overall, this car has spent more time in the shop than my last 3 cars combined.

I had a few issues with my previous vehicle, including a broken rear spring pack and headlights that caught on fire. I also received a letter stating that the airbag needed to be replaced, but I am still waiting for that to happen. Additionally, my air conditioner was leaking Freon overnight and no one could seem to find the problem. Despite replacing the evaporator, which cost $1800 for a $190 part, the issue persisted. Overall, I was disappointed with the poor design of the vehicle. When I contacted Toyota Corp, they were less than helpful and only made a note of my complaint. As a result, I decided to sell the vehicle. After researching my options, I ultimately chose to purchase a Ford F150, which has proven to be a much better fit for me. The difference between the Tacoma and the full-size Ford is truly amazing, with the F150 boasting 4-wheel disc brakes, a V8 engine, and a 6-speed automatic transmission. In comparison, the Tacoma felt like a tin box.

The Tacoma has its limitations, but it can take some time to get used to if you're coming from a full-size Ford F-250. I purchased it because I was tired of getting only 11 mpg with my Ford. During the test ride, I found the automatic transmission to be unacceptable due to the constant shifting up and down every time I touched the gas pedal. However, the salesman offered me a 6-speed manual shift 4-door, which I initially declined. He then made a comment about my ability to drive a manual, but I decided to take it for a ride anyway. To my surprise, I loved it and ended up taking it home.

I hope you're doing well! I noticed that you're interested in the 2011 Tacoma 4x4 5 spd std. While it is an affordable option, I would like to suggest considering other options as well. In my experience, this truck may not be the most durable and may not be suitable for heavy work. However, if you're looking for a truck for light use and are on a budget, this could be a good option for you. Let me know if you have any questions or if there's anything else I can help you with!

Hi there! I recently purchased a beautiful 8-week-old Tacoma truck, but unfortunately, I've been experiencing some engine trouble. It's been a bit frustrating because the issue seems to be intermittent - sometimes when the truck is in neutral, the RPM jumps between 1 and 2000 and the engine roars. I took it to the dealer, but they couldn't find any issues with the computer chip. I'm feeling a bit disappointed, as I expected better quality control from Toyota. Has anyone else experienced a similar problem? Thanks for your help!
