RAV4 for the Japanese market were sold at two different Toyota dealership chains, Corolla Store and Netz.
In 2019, the RAV4 was the best-selling SUV of any type in the world, and the fourth best-selling passenger car overall. North America is the largest market, with 535,000 units sold in 2019, followed by Europe (133,000) and China (127,000). By February 2020, a total of 10 million RAV4s had been sold globally.

When the car is turned on, the center console displays a "safe driver" warning, then after a number of seconds, a message instructing driver to sign up for connected services for navigation appears and won't display a default screen or last screen displayed until driver selects another display option. I was never on the navigation menu, nor do intend to ever use the navigation menu, and yet the solicitation appears. This is not only annoying, but distracts the driver from other information that the driver intends to see on the center console. If Toyota motor sales wants to not allow navigation except for subscriptions, it should be limited to when a driver presses the navigation button, but not distract the driver by spamming when the center console should be displaying whatever the driver has selected and forcing the driver to "cancel" by finding the button on the center console to what was originally displayed when the car was turned off or a default screen of user choice.

- Summary: Driver was parking the car in a parking lot at a very slow speed. The car suddenly shot forward at a very high rate of speed, requiring evasive steering from trees and a fence, until the car crashed head-on into another vehicle. The driver is very certain the brakes only were applied during the entire time the car shot forward. Airbags were not deployed. Bystanders were within six feet of the car at one point during the acceleration, prior to the crash. There were no injuries. Earlier, on the day of the crash, the car had a sudden, strong, yet brief acceleration of the vehicle during normal braking while approaching a rotary, unlike normal ABS. ABS itself seemed unneeded (the approach to the rotary was well within the speed limit, on dry condition roads). This issue occurred twice in the two months prior to the accident. There were no known warning messages in the car or the phone app for the car in any of these cases or at the time of the crash. The manufacturer has been notified of the crash, a product liability case has been opened, and an engineer was sent to look at the car. A data download from the airbag event data recorder (Bosch CDR) was done, a report was generated, and the report was provided to the car owner. No data in the formatted report is provided regarding Vehicle Speed, Accelerator Pedal, Cruise Control Status, Brake Torque, etc. Unformatted hexadecimal data is included in the report, without a data schema to decipher the data. It is not known if any other analysis or information about the car was reported by the engineer, beyond the Bosch CDR report. The owner is not aware that the problem has been reproduced or confirmed by anyone involved, or of any other inspections than the one described here. Manufacturer has not yet provided the owner with a report response. The car is currently at an auto repair shop and no repairs have begun. The shop is awaiting an appraisal by the insurance company before doing the repairs.

The Dealer/Certified Toyota service center replaced the glass under warranty after inspecting the broken sun roof glass.

I had the best experience ever buying a new car! My partner and I went in just to look and try sitting in a new Rav 4. We liked it, but decided we wanted a Plug-in hybrid in a color they didn't have. We were told that hybrids have a 3 month wait list, and the plug-in even longer. However, our sales rep was amazing! He checked inventory before he left home and found exactly what we were describing had just arrived on the dock from Japan in the model, color, and features we wanted if we were to special order. We bought the car with no wait! This car is quick and we've already driven almost 2000 miles on it. We plug it in when it's down to 0 and we finally got our first tank of gas at 1625 miles, taking exactly 8 gallons. It's not a cheap car by any level, but it's a smooth-riding and peppy little great gas saver car. The first 51 miles are all EV, then it swaps over automatically, no muss, no fuss.

The vehicle is everything I hoped for and more. The ride is smooth and comfortable. I have driven 550 miles and have only used a quarter of a tank of gas so far. The vehicle feels solid and is quiet even when it switches over to gas operation. Most of the mileage has been on the battery, which lasts for 44-48 miles before needing to be recharged. I am extremely pleased with the vehicle.

We recently purchased a 2023 plug-in Subaru Crosstrek, but found that it was too small and had limited trunk space due to the batteries. As seniors, we wanted a reliable vehicle for travel, and after some consideration, we decided to switch it out for a 2023 RAV4 Prime Plugin. The RAV4 SE Prime has exceeded our expectations, and we have not had to buy gasoline yet, even after driving over 1,800 miles on 3 longer round trips. The functional space inside the vehicle is not compromised, and we are very happy with our decision. Our son, who recently bought an all-electric car, is now considering the RAV4 SE Prime due to the lack of charging stations in all the places he and his wife go. We must say, the RAV4 Prime is a bolder and good-looking car. We are very pleased with our purchase and the fact that we were able to work out a deal to switch out of the Crosstrek Plugin. It has made our CEO, CFO, and COO very happy, and that makes life better.I filled the gas tank to the brim with 5 gallons, thinking it would require more gas. However, after driving the RAV4 Prime in winter conditions, we only managed to go 2,500 miles before needing to refuel with 10.5 gallons of gas. In the winter, the RAV4 Prime requires the gas engine to warm up to aid in defrosting and heating, resulting in increased gas usage. On the other hand, the Crosstrek Plugin has a much lower EV range and switches to gas much more frequently, resulting in 90% more gas usage. Additionally, the Crosstrek Plugin's batteries reduce the rear storage area by 40%, making it difficult to carry shopping bags and our standard poodle. The RAV4 Prime's total cost per mile is significantly lower than the Crosstrek Plugin's. I find it hard to understand why Edmund's would rank the Crosstrek Plugin higher than the RAV4 Plugin, as I own both and the RAV4 Plugin's 650-mile total range with a full charge and full tank of gas is hard to replicate with any Hybrid Plugin cars. In terms of ROI and total cost of ownership, the RAV4 Prime SE Plugin is a Best Buy. My wife, who is not a slow driver and frequently drives on freeways, enjoys the RAV4 Prime's performance and handling. As a small person, she appreciates the ability to adjust the seat and the good visibility of the road.Hi there! I hope you're doing well. I just wanted to share my thoughts on the RAV4 Prime. While it's a great car, I did notice that the passenger seat isn't as adjustable as the driver's seat. My wife and I have had some amazing cars in the past, like her Porsche 944, but unfortunately, it wasn't practical for our grandkids. Recently, I had an Audi Q7 which had these amazing memory seats that could be adjusted in any way you wanted for both front seats. It was so convenient! My wife could get into the Q7 and press one button to restore the seat to her preferred position, and I could do the same. I recently purchased my RAV4 prime XSE in silver, just before gas prices started to skyrocket. Unfortunately, it’s currently $4.35 for the gallon in my area. However, I'm thrilled that I bought it! The week before, I had my solar electricity on my house activated, so it’s costing me pennies to charge the vehicle. In pure EV mode, I’m getting about 39 miles before I have to recharge. In HV mode, I’m averaging between 70 and 80 miles to the gallon. I can’t wait to take a road trip when the weather gets better and have the flexibility of using EV or hybrid mode in my travels. Kudos to Toyota!

I bought my 2022 SE just over a year ago and have driven 15000 miles so far. I absolutely love my Prime! It's spacious on the inside without being too big, and it's sportier than many other CUVs. The ride is smooth and it has plenty of power. The transition between EV mode and HV mode is seamless, making for a comfortable and enjoyable driving experience. Best of all, it's easy on gas, which is great for both the environment and my wallet. I charge it every night with minimal impact on the environment or my finances, thanks to our solar-powered home. Overall, it's a fantastic car that I would highly recommend. The only downside is the inflated price, but luckily prices are coming down now that the tax incentive is going away. While the battery may be a major expense down the road, it's supposed to have a pretty long lifespan. Right now, I can drive over 50 miles on EV alone, depending on driving conditions including speed, hills climbed, use of air conditioner/heat, and temperature. It remains to be seen how that range will change over time, but I'm optimistic. While the AC depletes the battery range slightly, using the heat has a huge effect, so I try to use the heated steering wheel and forego the heat as much as possible in order to make it to work and home on a single charge. Unfortunately, during winter, my range dips to about 33 miles if I want the comfort of a nice warm car to and from work. It seems that this car may be best suited for mild climates. During warm weather, the dash usually tells me I have 56 miles EV when I start up, during winter it usually starts around 50. I could probably increase my range if I were to keep my speed around 40 and avoid hills. I've learned to switch out of EV when on the interstate and when climbing mountains, as they are a huge drain on the battery. Overall, I'm thrilled with my Prime and all the benefits it brings. It's cutting down on CO2 emissions, saving me over $1,000/year on gas, and starting conversations about better fuel economy.The car is spacious and comfortable for family trips. Although it has a robotic appearance, it still looks sharp. There are a few things that could be improved, such as the average miles per gallon display on the dash only going up to 99.9. It would be great if Toyota could update this feature since it is an EV and some drivers get over 100mpg. The ICE motor can be quite loud at times, and there can be an excessive amount of valve clacking when it first starts up. The cloth interior seems a bit cheap, and the red stitching is not to everyone's taste. The heated steering wheel button is in a weird, hard-to-find place, and it would make more sense to put it on the steering wheel or beside the heated seat button. The dash is a little busy, and it would be great if there was a physical on/off button for the entertainment display. The automatic trunk open button is also hard to locate on the trunk. The spaceship sound it makes at low speeds is a bit weird, and the dual exhaust seems unnecessary for an eco-friendly car. The most annoying thing is that there is no way to disable the seatbelt warning sound. Although I am an avid seatbelt wearer, I live on a farm with multiple gates that must be opened and closed on the driveway. That means I have to put on and take off my seatbelt three times as I creep down the gravel driveway to get to the road, or else listen to the incessant beeping. The tires that came with the car are not great in wet conditions, and after a year, they will need to be replaced soon. It's important to note that most tires are not recommended for EVs due to friction, weight, and efficiency. I'm hoping to find a better tire that doesn't compromise efficiency too much. Overall, I'm happy with the car, but I would have been a lot happier if I hadn't paid over MSRP just to get my hands on one. It's not a luxury car, but it's still a really cool car that needs to be plugged in every night. Before you buy, consider these things:This car may not be the best fit for cold climates as the heat can use up the EV quickly. Additionally, it may not be ideal for high-speed interstate driving as this can also use up the EV quickly. It is important to have a regular schedule and a place to charge the car daily, as it takes approximately 11 hours to charge with a regular charger. It is also important to consider whether your commute falls within the EV range or if you will need to use gas every day. The cost to charge the car will vary by location, so it is worth researching this beforehand. If you have solar panels, this can be a plus. Depending on your individual situation, the regular hybrid model may be a more suitable option.

The steering also seems to jerk across the road instead of initiating a turn smoothly. Overall, it's not a pleasant experience for passengers. In comparison, my well-driven 2000s BMW far exceeds the ride quality of this vehicle.

I have tried both the 2022 and 2023 models, as well as several trim lines. Unfortunately, as someone who is 6'1'', I have found that the top of my legs rub against the steering wheel and the bottom of my thighs won't rest on the seat, no matter how far back I adjust it. This has resulted in cramped legs and hip pain on long trips. The driver legroom is only rated at 41'', which I find to be quite inadequate. As a result, I have decided to look for other options such as the Subaru Outback, which I have found to be a better fit for me.

I recently purchased the 2022 Rav4 prime and initially loved everything about it. Unfortunately, last week I encountered an issue with a check engine light. Upon taking it to the dealership, I discovered that some wires had been chewed off by mice. It turns out that the wires are soy-based, which is a material that mice are attracted to and tend to chew on. This has become a common problem and the repair cost is around $5000. While I am disappointed with this design flaw, I hope that Toyota will address this issue soon. In the meantime, I suggest considering other options before making a purchase.
