2009 Toyota 4runner problems

toyota logo

The Toyota 4Runner is an SUV manufactured by the Japanese automaker Toyota and marketed globally since 1984, across five generations. In Japan, it was marketed as the Toyota Hilux Surf (Japanese: トヨタ・ハイラックスサーフ, Hepburn: Toyota Hairakkususāfu) and was withdrawn from the market in 2009. The original 4Runner was a compact SUV and little more than a Toyota Hilux pickup truck with a fiberglass shell over the bed, but the model has since undergone significant independent development into a cross between a compact and a mid-size SUV. All 4Runners have been built in Japan at Toyota's plant in Tahara, Aichi, or at the Hino Motors (a Toyota subsidiary) plant in Hamura.

The name "4Runner" was created by copywriter Robert Nathan with the Saatchi & Saatchi advertising company as a play on the term "forerunner". The agency held contests to invent new names for Toyota's forthcoming vehicles. According to Toyota, the "4" described the vehicle's 4-wheel drive system while "Runner" was a reference to its all-terrain capabilities and how it could "run" off-road.

For some markets, the Hilux Surf was replaced in 2005 by the similar Fortuner, which is based on the Hilux platform.

As of 2021, the 4Runner is marketed in the Bahamas, Bolivia, Canada, Chile, Colombia, Costa Rica, El Salvador, Guatemala, Panama, Peru, the United States and Venezuela. Many markets that did not receive the 4Runner, such as Europe and the Middle East, instead received the similarly designed Land Cruiser Prado, another SUV that shared many of the same components.

The 4Runner came in at number five in a 2019 study by iSeeCars.com ranking the longest-lasting vehicles in the US. The 4Runner had 3.9 percent of vehicles over 200,000 miles (320,000 km), according to the study.

Common 2009 Toyota 4runner problems

Based on complaints from owners of the Toyota 4Runner 2009, several common problems have been reported:

  1. Door Lock Problems: Owners have frequently reported issues with door locks, particularly in the 2014 model, where failed door locks are a common complaint. This problem may also be present in the 2015, 2016, and 2017 models. The cause of this issue is often a defective actuator that controls the door locks, requiring replacement to resolve the problem.
  2. Car Accelerates By Itself: Some owners have experienced instances where the car accelerates on its own. This issue is attributed to either a floor mat getting stuck behind the pedals, causing acceleration, or problems with the vehicle's speed sensor. In some cases, this issue led to a Toyota recall, affecting models like the 2009 4Runner.
  3. Cruise Control Issues: The 2020 to 2022 4Runner models have been affected by problems with the cruise control system. Owners have reported issues such as the vehicle not going faster than 30 mph when cruise control is engaged or the cruise control disengaging in snowy conditions. Additionally, a 2020 4Runner owner reported stalling when the cruise control was activated, related to the start-stop system.
  4. Fuel Pump Issues: The fuel pump in the fifth-generation 4Runner has been a source of frustration for many owners, leading to recalls. Faulty fuel pumps have caused problems, with the fifth-generation 4Runner experiencing two fuel pump recalls due to these issues.
  5. Fuel Gauge Cluster Issues: Some owners have reported inaccuracies in the fuel gauge display, where the vehicle does not accurately show the remaining fuel in the tank. This problem has been observed in earlier 4Runner generations and occasionally in the fifth-generation models.

These problems highlight some of the challenges faced by owners of the Toyota 4Runner 2009, ranging from door lock malfunctions to issues with acceleration, cruise control, fuel pumps, and fuel gauge clusters. Addressing these concerns promptly is crucial to ensure the safety and performance of the vehicle.

UNKNOWN OR OTHER PROBLEM

  • Date Of Incident: 2022-04-08
  • VIN: JTEZU14R99K
  • Components: UNKNOWN OR OTHER
  • Summary: On 4/8/22, the rear window of our 2009 Toyota 4runner just shattered and fell apart for no reason. We took it to get replaced at Safelite on 4/13/22 and one of their techs asked if we knew what caused the glass to break and we told him we had no idea. We told him it just broke out of nowhere from some strange reason, and he told us that it looks like the window breaking was caused by the overheating of the rear defroster and that it was a common issue with 2009 4runners. We were in shock to find this out and are grateful that our son or dog was not in the back seat when this happened. I found out online that Toyota issued a recall for this issue (Warranty Program ZG7) and I spoke with a Toyota customer service rep to see if we could be reimbursed the $100 we paid out of pocket for this manufacturer's defect and they said the warranty program ended in 2018 so they couldn't help us. We were very disappointed to be told this because this is obviously still happening with these 4runners and it's a major safety issue as well.

FUEL SYSTEM, GASOLINE PROBLEM

  • Date Of Incident: 2014-05-24
  • VIN: JT3GM84R9X0
  • Components: FUEL SYSTEM, GASOLINE
  • Summary: DRIVING ALONG A TWO LANE U.S. HIGHWAY AT THE POSTED SPEED, I NOTICED THAT MY FUEL GAUGE WAS SHOWING FULLY EMPTY, AND THE WARNING LIGHT WAS FLASHING. PUSHING THE ODOMETER TRIP BUTTON, I NOTICED THAT I HAD NOT YET REACHED THE MILEAGE FOR A "NORMAL" FILL UP, WHERE I ROUTINELY GET 20-21 MPG. AT THE END OF THAT TRIP,WHEN I TURNED THE VEHICLE OFF AND RESTARTED IT, THE FUEL GAUGE SHOWED HALF FULL. USING THE TRIP ODOMETER, I DROVE AN ADDITIONAL ESTIMATED 30 MILES TO HOME. THE FUEL GAUGE CONTINUED TO DISPLAY HALF FULL. THE NEXT MORNING, I DROVE APPROXIMATELY 3 MILES TO THE GAS STATION, AND WAS SURPRISED WHEN IT TOOK ALMOST 15 GALLONS TO FILL THE TANK. THE NEEDLE ON THE GAUGE THEN WENT TO FULL. SINCE THEN IT HAS ONLY COME DOWN TO ONE HALF, YET MY MILEAGE NOW IS AT THE POINT (261-270) WHERE I NORMALLY FILL UP WHEN THE NEEDLE NEAR THE EMPTY LINE. I BELIEVE THIS PROBLEM IS NO DOUBT WIDESPREAD. *TR

AIR BAGS PROBLEM

  • Date Of Incident: 2009-09-10
  • Number Of Injuries: 1
  • Crash: 1
  • VIN: JTEZU14R89K
  • Components: AIR BAGS
  • Summary: I WAS DRIVING IN THE LEFT/FAST LANE ON A TOLL ROAD WHEN ANOTHER VEHICLE WHO WAS SPEEDING IN EXCESS OF 55MPH ENTERING THE TOLL ROAD CROSSING AND CUTTING OFF THE OTHER LANES OF TRAFFIC RUNNING INTO ME ON THE PASSENGER SIDE FORCING ME INTO THE CONCRETE WALL/BARRIER HEAD ON. HIS VEHICLE SWUNG INTO AGAIN INTO MY PASSENGER REAR SIDE THEN BOUNCED OFF. I WAS STUNNED, IN SHOCK, UNABLE TO EXIT ON MY SIDE AND DIDN'T SEE IT COMING. I WAS THROWN LEFT INTO THE FRAME AND WINDOW AND JERKED AROUND EVEN THOUGH I HAD MY SEAT BELT FASTENED. THE AIR BAGS DID NOT DEPLOY. I HAD FRONT AND SIDE CURTAIN AIRBAGS AND HAD ONLY JUST PURCHASED THE 4RUNNER A FEW MONTHS PRIOR. IT WAS DECLARED TO BE TOTALED. I PERMANENTLY INJURED MY NECK, BACK AND BROKE MY NOSE. IN ADDITION, I HAVE ANXIETY AND PANIC ATTACKS ABOUT DRIVING. THE OTHER DRIVER WAS CITED AT FAULT FOR FAILURE TO CONTROL SPEED AND UNSAFE LANE CHANGES AND HIS INSURANCE PAID FOR MY TOTALED VEHICLE AND WHAT LITTLE INSURANCE COVERAGE HE HAD FOR MY PERSONAL INJURIES. I WAS JUST NOW NOTIFIED THAT THERE WAS A PROBLEM WITH MY VEHICLE'S AIR BAGS AND SENSORS (A RECALL), NOW THAT IT IS ALMOST EXACTLY 4 YEARS FROM THE ACCIDENT, THERE IS NOTHING I CAN APPARENTLY DO TO HOLD TOYOTA AT FAULT DUE TO STATUTE OF LIMITATIONS. THIS VERY UPSETTING. I AM FULLY DISABLED NOW AND WILL BE ON PAIN MANAGEMENT AND PERIODIC PHYSICAL THERAPY FOR THE REST OF MY LIFE, AND CAN NO LONGER EVEN PERFORM SIMPLE CHORES. *TR

  • VIN: JTEZU14R49K
  • Components: POWER TRAIN
  • Summary: TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2009 TOYOTA 4RUNNER. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE DRIVING AT LOW SPEEDS AND TURNING, THE VEHICLE LOST ACCELERATING POWER. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER FOR DIAGNOSTIC TESTING. THE TECHNICIAN WAS UNABLE TO DIAGNOSE THE FAILURE. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT CONTACTED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 24,000. UPDATED 03/21/13*LJ THE CONSUMER STATED THE TRANSMISSION SLIPPED (REVVED TO HIGH RPMS) WHILE ATTEMPTING TO ACCELERATE AFTER SLOWING DOWN BELOW 15 MPH (WHILE MAKING TURNS OR SLOWING FOR TRAFFIC). THIS HAS CAUSED DANGEROUS SITUATIONS WHERE SIGNIFICANT LAG TIME BETWEEN DEPRESSING THE GAS PEDAL AND WHEN THE TRANSMISSION ENGAGED WHILE MAKING A LEFT TURN ACROSS ONCOMING TRAFFIC OR WHEN A QUICK ACCELERATION WAS NEEDED AFTER SLOWING DOWN. THE POTENTIAL FOR AN ACCIDENT IS HIGH. TOYOTA SHOULD ADDRESS THE SITUATION BEFORE SOMEONE GETS INTO A SERIOUS ACCIDENT AS SEVERAL OTHER REPORTS OF THIS CONDITION HAVE BEEN REPORTED. THERE ARE A NUMBER OF COMPLAINTS ON THE INTERNET WITH THE SAME PROBLEM.

ENGINE AND ENGINE COOLING,POWER TRAIN,ELECTRICAL SYSTEM PROBLEM

  • Date Of Incident: 2009-09-01
  • VIN: JTEBU14R89K
  • Components: ENGINE AND ENGINE COOLING,POWER TRAIN,ELECTRICAL SYSTEM
  • Summary: I PURCHASED MY 2009 4RUNNER NEW LAST YEAR. FROM THE MINUTE I DROVE IT OFF THE LOT I NOTICED A PROBLEM WITH THE TRANSMISSION. ANY TIME THE VEHICLE SLOWS BELOW 15MPH AND THEN THE ACCELERATOR IS DEPRESSED, THE ENGINE REVS TO A HIGH RPM AS IF SEARCHING FOR A GEAR AND DOES NOT ACCELERATE AS COMMANDED. THIS IS VERY PREVALENT IN SLOW TRAFFIC, SLOWING FOR A YIELD SIGN OR TURNING CORNERS. THE BIGGEST SAFETY CONCERN IS IN SLIPPERY ROAD CONDITIONS. WHEN THE VEHICLE FINALLY DOES FIND A GEAR TO SHIFT INTO, IT LURCHES FORWARD. THE SHIFTING INTO GEAR FROM A HIGH RPM ON SLICK SURFACES COULD CAUSE THE WHEELS TO SPIN OUT. I ALMOST EXPERIENCED A LOSS OF CONTROL OF THE VEHICLE BECAUSE OF THIS. I'VE BROUGHT IT IN TO GET REPAIRED AT THE DEALERSHIP TWICE. ALL THEY DO IS FLASH THE ECM AND THE PROBLEM PERSISTS. MOST IMPORTANTLY, TOYOTA HAS ACKNOWLEDGED THIS EXACT SAME PROBLEM ON THE 2010 MODEL BY ISSUING A TSB. (TSB-0166-10) FROM READING SEVERAL TOYOTA 4RUNNER FORUMS, THIS TSB FIXES THE PROBLEM. PLEASE PUT PRESSURE ON TOYOTA TO ISSUE A FIX FOR THE 2009 MODEL BEFORE SOMEONE GETS INJURED OR KILLED. *TR

POWER TRAIN,ELECTRICAL SYSTEM PROBLEM

  • Date Of Incident: 2010-09-15
  • VIN: JTEZU14R09K
  • Components: POWER TRAIN,ELECTRICAL SYSTEM
  • Summary: I AM FILING THIS, MY SECOND, COMPLAINT ABOUT MY 2009 TOYOTA 4RUNNER. MY FIRST COMPLAINT WAS FILED IN FEBRUARY 2010. I COMPLAINED TO MY DEALERSHIP ABOUT THE PROBLEM SINCE RIGHT AFTER PURCHASING THE 4RUNNER WHICH WE BOUGHT BRAND NEW IN MAY 2009. THE PROBLEM OCCURRED WHEN SLOWING DOWN TO TURN CORNERS TO ABOUT 15 MPH, AND THEN STEPPING ON THE ACCELERATOR TO SPEED UP, THE CAR REVS, SOMETIMES 2500-3000 RPMS BEFORE THE TRANSMISSION ENGAGES AND WE LURCH FORWARD. NOW, 17 MONTHS LATER AND MANY TRIPS AND E-MAILS TO MY DEALERSHIP, WHO CAN'T GET A RESPONSE FROM TOYOTA THAT MAKES SENSE, AND MY 4RUNNER STILL EXHIBITS THE SAME PROBLEM. MY HUSBAND HAD A KIDNEY TRANSPLANT IN AUGUST 2009, WHICH REQUIRES TRAVEL TO A BIG CITY ABOUT 90 MILES FROM HOME SEVERAL TIMES A MONTH, THAT HAS HEAVY TRAFFIC FLOW. LAST WEEK, I HAD TO MAKE A QUICK ACCELERATION TO MERGE INTO ONCOMING TRAFFIC, AND FOR THE FIRST TIME, THE 4RUNNER ACTUALLY DID THE SAME THINK IT DOES ON TURNS. WHEN I STEPPED ON THE GAS TO MERGE INTO ONCOMING TRAFFIC, THE 4RUNNER JUST REVVED FOR A FEW SECONDS AND THEN LURCHED FORWARD INTO TRAFFIC. LUCKILY NO ACCIDENT RESULTED, BUT WE WERE VERY SCARED. I PARTICIPATE IN FORUMS ON DIFFERENT CAR SITES AND THERE ARE MANY, MANY OF US HAVING THE EXACT PROBLEMS AND YET TOYOTA HAS NO ANSWER OR PUTS US OFF WITH SOME LAME EXPLANATIONS OR WORSE, TELLS US THAT IS JUST THE WAS THE 4RUNNER IS BECAUSE OF THE COMPUTER. MY DEALERSHIP HAS RESET THE COMPUTER AND DID NOT REMEDY THE PROBLEM. I AM REPORTING THIS NEWEST INCIDENT FOR DOCUMENTATION IN CASE THIS PROBLEM ACTUALLY CAUSES AN ACCIDENT, MY COMPLAINT WILL BE ON FILE. THANK YOU *TR

  • VIN: JTEBU14R69K
  • Components: POWER TRAIN
  • Summary: 2009 4 RUNNER TRANSMISSION: SAME AS OTHER COMPLAINTS ABOUT SLIPPING AND LAG TIME IN ENGAGING INTO GEAR AT LOW SPEEDS (LIKE WHEN SLOWING DOWN TO MAKE TURNS OR GO OVER SPEED BUMPS). OBVIOUSLY NOT SHIFTING CORRECTLY AND IS A SAFETY ISSUE WHEN TURNING ACROSS TRAFFIC AND THE VEHICLE DOES NOT RESPOND PROPERLY WHEN THE ACCELERATOR IS DEPRESSED. • Fire: 1
  • VIN: JTEBU14R49K

  • Summary: MY GRANDDAUGHTER WAS DRIVING A 2009 THAT I BOUGHT HER FOR GRADUATION IN MAY 2010. IN JUNE 2010 SHE AND SOME FRIENDS WERE DRIVING AND A FIRE STARTED IN THE CONSOLE AREA. THERE WERE FLAMES AND SMOKE. THEY STOPPED THE CAR, WENT UP TO SOMEONE'S HOUSE AND GOT WATER TO POUR INTO THE CAR AND PUT OUT THE FIRE OUT. IF THEY HADN'T BEEN QUICK THINKING, THE CAR WOULD BE TOAST. ALSO, IF THEY HAD WRECKED AND COULD NOT GET OUT OF THE CAR, THEY WOULD HAVE HAD SEVERE BURNS OR DEATH. WE WANT THE CAR FIXED UNDER WARRANTY RATHER THAN OUR INSURANCE. IT WAS SEVERAL WEEKS BEFORE TOYOTA FINALLY HIRED AN INDEPENDENT ENGINEERING FIRM TO DETERMINE THE CAUSE AND WE STILL DON'T HAVE A SOLUTION. THE CAR HAS BEEN AT THE DEALER ALMOST 2 MONTHS. *TR

POWER TRAIN PROBLEM

  • VIN: JTEZU14R89K
  • Components: POWER TRAIN
  • Summary: I HAVE A 2009 TOYOTA 4 RUNNER, PURCHASED NEW IN NOVEMBER '09. THE CAR CURRENTLY HAS 1800 MILES ON IT, HOWEVER I NOTICED THE PROBLEM AT ABOUT 400 MILES. THE PROBLEM IS THE TRANSMISSION SLIPS WHEN SHIFTING UP AT ABOUT 10 MILES PER HOUR. IT DOES NOT DO THIS FROM A COMPLETE STOP, ONLY AFTER DE-ACCELERATING (EXAMPLE, SLOWING DOWN TO MAKE A RIGHT TURN) AND ACCELERATING BACK UP, THEN IT WILL SLIP. NOTHING HAS BEEN DONE TO CORRECT THIS DEFECT BECAUSE THE DEALERSHIP SAYS THEY HAVE NEVER HEARD OF THIS PROBLEM WITH THE 4 RUNNER AND TOYOTA HAS NOT ISSUED A TECHNICAL SERVICE BULLETIN. *TR

POWER TRAIN PROBLEM

  • Date Of Incident: 2009-05-14
  • VIN: JTEZU14R09K
  • Components: POWER TRAIN
  • Summary: I AM FILING THIS CLAIM TO REPORT A POTENTIAL SAFETY PROBLEM WITH THE TRANSMISSION IN THE 2009 TOYOTA 4RUNNER. I BOUGHT MY 2009 4RUNNER NEW IN MAY OF 2009 AND FROM THE FIRST WEEK NOTICED A PROBLEM WITH THE TRANSMISSION SLIPPING, AND IT IS PROGRESSIVELY GETTING WORSE. IT HAPPENS CONSISTENTLY EACH TIME I SLOW DOWN (BUT DON'T STOP COMPLETELY) TO TURN CORNERS AND THEN CONTINUE TO ACCELERATE,. THE TRANSMISSION DOESN'T RESPOND, THE CAR JUST SITS THERE, AND THE ENGINE GOES FROM 1500 RPMS TO UP TO 2500 RPMS BEFORE THE TRANSMISSION CATCHES UP WITH THE ENGINE AGAIN AND THE CAR THEN MOVES. I AM CONCERNED EACH TIME THIS HAPPENS, ESPECIALLY WHEN THERE IS TRAFFIC FOLLOWING BEHIND ME IN THE TURN. I BROUGHT IT IN TO THE DEALERSHIP TO CHECK IT OUT RIGHT AFTER WE BOUGHT IT. THEY RAN A DIAGNOSTIC AND TOLD US THAT EVERYTHING CHECKED OUT OK. I HAD THE TECHNICIAN DRIVE IT, AND I WENT WITH HIM. HE SAID THAT HE COULDN'T FEEL WHAT I WAS TALKING ABOUT, EVEN THOUGH I FELT IT WHEN HE SLOWED TO MAKE A TURN. HE THEN TOLD ME THAT IT WAS PROBABLY BECAUSE IT TOOK THE NEW ELECTRONIC TRANSMISSION A FEW SECONDS TO COMMUNICATE WITH THE CAR'S COMPUTER. SOUNDED LIKE HE WAS GUESSING AT WHAT MIGHT BE CAUSING THE PROBLEM. I HAVE SINCE CONTACTED CUSTOMER CARE AT TOYOTA, AND RECEIVED A RESPONSE IN E-MAIL TELLING ME TO CONTACT THE DEALERSHIP IN MY AREA, AND THAT TOYOTA HAD ALREADY DONE SO ON MY BEHALF. HE SAID IF I DIDN'T HEAR FROM THE MANAGER AT MY DEALERSHIP BY FEB. 11, 2010, TO CONTACT TOYOTA AGAIN. I HAVEN'T HEARD FROM MY DEALERSHIP AS OF FEB 13. I HAVE TALKED WITH OTHER OWNERS OF THIS MODEL, AND THEY EXPERIENCE THE SAME THING, AND THEY HAVE GOTTEN THE SAME RUNAROUND FROM THE COMPANY. *TR

POWER TRAIN PROBLEM

  • Date Of Incident: 2009-11-02
  • VIN: JT3HN87R719
  • Components: POWER TRAIN
  • Summary: I HAVE A 2001 TOYOTA 4RUNNER. THE REAR DIFFERENTIAL LEAKS OIL THROUGH PIN HOLES, AND FROM WHAT I HAVE READ, MINE IS NOT THE ONLY ONE. THE CAR BARELY HAS 100,000 MILES ON IT, AND THE DIFFERENTIAL SHOULD LAST AS LONG AS THE CAR. THE RISK IS THAT IT WILL RUN DRY, SEIZE, AND THE REAR WHEELS WILL LOCK UP CAUSING AN ACCIDENT. THIS IS CLEARLY A DEFECT BY TOYOTA REDUCING THE COST OF THEIR MATERIAL THE CONSTRUCT THE DIFFERENTIAL HOUSING WITH. *TR

Negative 2009 Toyota 4runner car reviews

I bought this truck late in the season and have had it for 2 years now. It drives and handles well, and the fuel mileage is better than expected. Although there are a few little things left off for an upscale truck, such as no vanity lights and no power seats, the heat/ac controls seem a bit silly. The most annoying issue is a bump that you feel after you stop and let your foot off the brake, as if you are being bumped from behind. I have taken it to the dealer many times hoping they will come up with a fix, but unfortunately, no luck yet. The dealer is aware of the problem, which they call differential backlash, and it is a design defect. In the long run, it cannot be good for the transmission or my sanity. However, I am considering trading the truck for another make any day now. Thank you for considering my experience.

I have taken my '08 Toyota 4Runner to three different Toyota dealerships for service five times now. Despite having my catalytic converter changed, I am still experiencing issues with the exhaust and emission system of my car. Whenever I drive at speeds of 60 MPH or faster on the highway, I notice a strong and heavy sulfuric and ammonia scent entering the vehicle, which gives me a headache and bothers my newborn baby. Unfortunately, I cannot drive with my windows down. I would appreciate it if Toyota could help me resolve this issue. Thank you for your understanding.

I'm glad with most aspects of the car, but I have some concerns about the ergonomics. Despite being 5'9'', I only have a couple of inches of headroom even with the seat bottomed out, unless I recline the seat like I'm in a sports car. This worries me in case of an accident, as I might end up wearing the sun visor as a hat. Additionally, I think the steering wheel tilt needs an extra stop point between the lowest and first up position. I'm not sure who Toyota engineers had in mind when designing this, as I consider myself to have an average build.

Hi there! I hope you're doing well. Your work is good all around. :)

I drove two Pathfinders for almost 20 years and I wish I had stuck with them. While I agree with most of the reviewers about the SR5, I find it difficult to understand when they say it has a smooth ride. To the contrary, I find it stiff, bouncy, and very fatiguing, and nothing like the Pathfinders which were very smooth and non-fatiguing. One other thing that bothers me is that the displays for the radio/CDP and the stuff below are extremely dim. I can barely read them in daylight hours and there's no way to brighten them up. Additionally, the audio quality is mediocre. However, I will keep it for three years or less and then trade it in when I can afford to.

Congratulations on your first SUV! It sounds like you made a great choice for your cross-country travels. The 4Runner's body-on-frame with a solid rear axle provides excellent off-road capability, including true 4-wheel LO with the ability to lock up the axles. Even better, it rides much better than expected. The leather seats are comfortable and multi-adjustable, and the LTD comes with a back-up camera that plays through the nav system for a decent view behind you. Plus, the rear hatch closes electrically once you get close to avoid slamming. It's great to hear that you haven't experienced any rattles or squeaks. Happy travels!

  4. Vincenzo O'Conner 2024-11-09

Great build quality, excellent ride, good brakes, and comfortable seats. I am 6 ft 1 and fit easily. I couldn't be happier with my purchase. The V8 engine is silky smooth, and after 1 week, I was pleasantly surprised by the gas mileage - 20.3 combined city and highway (I drive it gently, though!). I can't wait to take it to the mountains in Arizona and find some snow!

  5. Tyler Gorczany 2024-10-17

I traded a Jeep Liberty for this SR5 4x4 V8 4Runner and I must say, what a difference! This vehicle rides like a Lexus on the highway and it also rides extremely well on dirt forest roads here in Arizona. I don't know why I waited so long to get one.
