2001 Suzuki Grand vitara problems
The Suzuki Vitara is a series of SUVs produced by Suzuki in five generations since 1988. The second and third generation were known as the Suzuki Grand Vitara, while the fourth generation eschewing the "Grand" prefix. In Japan and a number of other markets, all generations have used the name Suzuki Escudo (Japanese: スズキ・エスクード, Hepburn: Suzuki Esukūdo).
The choice of the name "Vitara" was inspired by the Latin word vita, as in English word vitality. "Escudo", the name primarily used in the Japanese Domestic Market, refers to the "escudo", the monetary unit of Portugal before adoption of the Euro. The original series was designed to fill the slot above the Suzuki Jimny. The first generation was known as Suzuki Sidekick in the United States. The North American version was produced as a joint venture between Suzuki and General Motors known as CAMI. It was also sold as the Santana 300 and 350 in Spain and in the Japanese market, it was also sold as the Mazda Proceed Levante.
The second generation was launched in 1998 under the "Grand Vitara" badge in most markets. It was accompanied by a still larger SUV known as the Suzuki XL-7 (known as Grand Escudo in Japan). The third generation was launched in 2005.
The fourth generation, released in 2015, reverted to the original name "Vitara" in most markets, but shifted from an off-road SUV towards a more road-oriented crossover style. It shares the platform and many components with the slightly larger SX4 S-Cross.
The model introduced in 2022 for the Indian market only reuses the "Grand Vitara" nameplate. It is slightly larger than the SX4 S-Cross.

Great auto to drive.
-
Very happy. Great vehicle with great service. Excellent value.

I've owned this vehicle for two years and it has been trouble-free. It gets between 21 and 25 miles per gallon and the engine is powerful enough for this car. If you're looking for a small SUV, this is a great choice. However, if you're looking for a sportscar or an SUV that rides like a Caddy, this may not be the car for you. I believe the person who rated this car a 1.1 may have had a bad experience and should have considered a more expensive, larger car. Overall, this is a fantastic car for the money! I've never had a car that held its value like this one. In the past, I've had to sell or trade in my cars at a loss, but not with this one!

Hi there! I'm glad to hear that you've had a great experience with your Suzuki XL-7. It's unfortunate to hear about the rusting exhaust system, but it's great to know that the engine has been reliable. It sounds like you take good care of your vehicle, which is important for ensuring its longevity. Thanks for sharing your thoughts on the 2001 units, it's always helpful to hear from someone with firsthand experience. Take care!

When you first bought your Limited Grand Vitara, you must have felt like it was designed just for you. And even a year and a half later, it still feels the same, doesn't it? It's such a cute little ute, with some really nice features. For driving from point A to point B, it's just the perfect little package.

The Grand Vitara did not meet my expectations due to its poor performance on wet pavement, windy days, and gas mileage compared to other mini-SUVs. Additionally, I faced challenges when trading it in due to its low resale value. It is important to note that the safety-level of the Grand Vitara is not up to par for families with children. Overall, I would not recommend this vehicle.

This car was a decent buy for the money. Although it has an annoying squeaking that the dealer can't seem to fix, it has good amounts of power with 5 speed. The car also has very good lights and provides a smooth driving experience on the interstate. While it may not be the heaviest car on the road and can bounce a bit, it is an inexpensive SUV that provides good value for its price.
