Common 2006 Saturn Vue problems
The Saturn Vue 2006 is known for several common problems that have been reported by owners. One of the most significant issues is related to the engine, with numerous reports of rough idling, misfires, and harsh rattling noises coming from the engine bay. These problems were mainly centered on specific engines, such as the 2.4-liter hybrid engine and the 3.0-liter V6 engine. However, engines like the 2.2-liter EcoTec engine made by GM and the 3.5-liter V6 engine made by Honda were considered more reliable options with fewer reports of engine troubles.
Another common problem with the Saturn Vue 2006 is related to the steering knuckle, which was prone to separating from the control arm, triggering steering issues. This could cause the vehicle to drag to the side, and tie rod fractures were commonly caused by the steering knuckle issue. Although GM recognized this issue and issued a recall to address it, especially for older first-gen Saturn Vue models, steering problems can still pose a significant challenge in controlling the vehicle properly on a straight road.
In addition to engine and steering issues, the Saturn Vue 2006 has also faced complaints about rust and structural problems. Some owners have reported rusted-through front motor mounts, busted mounts due to undue stress, and a rusted frame near the rear wheel. These issues can compromise the safety and longevity of the vehicle, making it essential for potential buyers to thoroughly inspect the undercarriage before purchasing a used Saturn Vue.
Transmission issues are another common problem across Saturn car models, including the Saturn Vue 2006. Erratic shifting has been reported due to problems with the automatic transmission, which can lead to significant repair costs if not addressed promptly.
Lastly, the Saturn Vue 2006 has faced complaints about faulty valve cover gaskets, which can cause oil leakage. This issue is particularly prevalent in models from 2002 to 2004, but it can still affect later models.
In conclusion, the Saturn Vue 2006 has several common problems that potential buyers should be aware of, including engine issues, steering knuckle separation, rust and structural problems, transmission troubles, and faulty valve cover gaskets. Thoroughly inspecting the vehicle and addressing these issues promptly can help ensure a safer and more reliable driving experience.

I purchased my first 2006 Saturn Vue five years ago and was so pleased with it that I recently bought another 2006 Vue. Both are all-wheel drive and come equipped with a smooth, powerful Honda V6 engine and drivetrain. GM only used the Honda drivetrain for two years in the Vue, 2006 and 2007, so those are the Vues you should consider. One has 106,000 miles on the odometer and the other has 121,000, which is low mileage for a Honda drivetrain! The V6 produces 250 horsepower and can go from 0-60 in an impressive 6.7 seconds! With many of today's mid-size or compact SUVs featuring a tapered roofline, the more squared off design of the 2006 Vue provides more space to transport tall objects. Despite Saturn's use of plastic fenders and door panels, these still look brand new on both vehicles 13 years later. Finally, as a resident of North Dakota, I am well aware of the challenges of cold and snow. The Vues are reliable starters and have exceptional traction on snow and ice. I highly recommend the Vue as an affordable vehicle to purchase and maintain.

I am so glad to hear that your Jessica has been such a reliable and trustworthy vehicle for you all these years! It's amazing that you've been able to put almost 230K miles on it. I can understand why you would be sad to part with it when the time comes. Thank you for sharing your positive experience with us!

I've owned many cars, but this is by far the best one I've ever had. Put Hankook tires on it and it will run forever. It's a great SUV - fast and powerful when needed!
-
I just surpassed 200,000 miles and have only had to replace minor things that you’d expect at this mileage. She’s still going strong. I’d buy another.

You have a great SUV that has served you well for 10 years and 210,000 miles! It's impressive that it always runs smoothly. Your family prefers driving the Vue over the 2006 Toyota Highland because it's more comfortable, has better dash controls, and drives better. Although the AWD could be better, it still works well. You mentioned that it's not the best for towing, but it still gets the job done. You've towed many utility trailers with it. Overall, it sounds like you have a reliable and enjoyable car!

I've had my 2006 V6 Vue for about a year now, and it's my first SUV. I absolutely love the look of the vehicle, and so far, it's been performing great. One of the things I really appreciate is how it drives like a car. However, there is one thing that's been driving me crazy - the wind noise between 50-70 mph. It sounds like my window isn't rolled all the way up or maybe my door isn't completely closed. I'm hoping to find a solution for it soon, but until then, I'll just have to learn to live with it.

I am confident in my assessment that my Saturn SL1 was a reliable car, with only one issue occurring in its sixth year of use. However, my Vue, which I purchased new in December 2005, has already experienced the same problem twice in just two years. Despite taking it to the shop, the issue remains unresolved and I am left feeling frustrated. In addition, I have noticed other issues such as a feeling of instability when driving on the highway and a lack of heat in the driver's seat. As an expert in this matter, I believe it is important to address these issues promptly and effectively.

I had a previous VUE before purchasing this one. Unfortunately, it was involved in an accident that was not my fault and was totaled. However, I was impressed with the safety features of the VUE as I survived the accident with only minor injuries. That experience made me feel confident in purchasing another VUE, which is a 2006 model. Although I have had some issues with things falling off and interior stains, I still appreciate the car. If I had the chance to go back, I would choose the V6, leather seats, and AWD instead of the basic model. Overall, I recommend the VUE for its safety features and reliability.

It's great to hear that you have a dependable car! I understand that you bought it used from a dealer on the east side of Detroit and it originated in Kalkaska, MI. When you first bought it, there was a wobble in the front, but your mechanic was able to fix it by removing a few parts. That's fantastic news!

In the first few months, I experienced some issues with the computer module, resulting in a loss of power in the vehicle. Fortunately, the warranty covered the $100.00 repair cost. Additionally, there was a squeaking noise in the front end, which was also covered by the warranty for $100.00. The front left wheel bearing and the rear right wheel bearing also required repairs, each costing $100.00. Although the computer module malfunctioned again, causing the truck to remain on until the battery died, I was able to get $100.00 back from the $400.00 repair cost. Currently, I am fixing the front rotors myself. I have noticed that the service department does not inquire about warranty coverage until after requesting a signature for the total repair cost.
