Common 2016 Porsche Macan problems

The Porsche Macan, introduced in 2014, is a popular sports utility vehicle known for its sleek design and performance capabilities. However, several common problems have been reported by owners of the 2016 model, which include issues with non-engine electrics, bodywork, interior trim, suspension, and fuel efficiency.

One of the most common issues reported by owners of the 2016 Porsche Macan is related to non-engine electrics, which accounted for 9.9% of all problems reported by owners. These issues can include electrical faults, engine warning lights, and servicing needs for engine control units. Most of these problems have been fixed under warranty and within a week, but they can still be a concern for potential buyers of used models.

Bodywork issues are another common problem reported by owners of the 2016 Porsche Macan, accounting for 5.6% of all problems reported. These issues can include scuffs and damage picked up in urban environments, as well as damage to expensive alloy wheels from kerbs. Checking the bodywork and wheels of a used 2016 Porsche Macan is important to ensure that it has been well maintained and not subjected to excessive wear and tear.

Interior trim and suspension issues have also been reported by owners of the 2016 Porsche Macan, accounting for 2.8% of all problems reported for each category. These issues can include problems with the rear seats, interior trim, and suspension components. Checking the interior and suspension components of a used 2016 Porsche Macan is important to ensure that it is in good condition and has been well maintained.

Fuel efficiency is another concern for owners of the 2016 Porsche Macan, with some reporting issues with fuel efficiency and the high cost of maintenance and parts. This can be a concern for potential buyers, as it can impact the overall cost of ownership and the vehicle's environmental impact.

In addition to these common problems, there have been several recalls issued for the 2016 Porsche Macan, including recalls for fuel leaks, brake servo issues, and front passenger airbags. These recalls can impact the safety and reliability of the vehicle, and it is important for potential buyers to check if their vehicle is affected and if any remedial work is required.

Despite these common problems, the Porsche Macan is generally considered to be a reliable vehicle, with a reliability score of 94.1% in the What Car? Reliability Survey. However, it is important for potential buyers to be aware of these common issues and to thoroughly inspect any used 2016 Porsche Macan before purchasing.

Negative 2016 Porsche Macan car reviews

I have owned my 2015 Macan S since new and it has been a great car. However, it has been at the dealer for almost 6 weeks now due to a known issue with the transfer case. Porsche has extended the warranty on Macans for 7 years, which is great, but unfortunately, my car has needed 3 transfer case replacements already. The latest replacement cost me $3,200, which was unexpected. Although Porsche has not covered the costs of the repeated repairs on the same part, I still believe that they make great cars. I understand that sometimes issues arise, but I wish Porsche would acknowledge the problem and work with their customers to find a solution. I have also had some issues with the coding of the modules in my car, which has been frustrating. Despite these issues, I still think that Porsche makes a great car and I would recommend getting an extended warranty for as long as you plan to own it. I hope that Porsche will continue to improve their quality and customer service in the future.

Positive 2016 Porsche Macan car reviews

I have a 2016 Macan S with over 40,000 miles and I am happy to report that I have not encountered any problems so far. While service costs can be high, I have found that most service instructions are available online, such as how to change air filters and plugs. My local dealer has been excellent in providing service. While other cars may offer more electronics and features, I purchased a Porsche for its performance and I have not been disappointed. Even with 57,000 miles, I am still impressed with the car's performance and drivability. I have not experienced any issues with the car. While service costs can be expensive, especially if you rely solely on the dealer, you can save money by performing simple services such as changing filters and plugs. I always get compliments on the car and it never fails to turn heads!

Although it may be a bit pricier than its competitors, this car is definitely worth the investment. My family and I have found it to be luxurious, comfortable, and high-performing. The base suspension is so well-tuned by Porsche that you won't need to spend extra money on PASM or air suspension unless you're planning on racing. The S model has plenty of power, so unless you're looking to drag race, the TURBO upgrade isn't necessary. I highly recommend upgrading to the BOSE stereo and sport seats for superior sound quality and comfort. If you're disciplined and avoid getting tempted by all the other options, you can get a reasonable price. While I achieved 29 MPG on the highway at 65 MPH for a 30-minute stretch, real-life mileage will be closer to 20 MPG. Three years later, the car is still a delight to drive with no rattles or shakes. The only downside is the high cost of service at Porsche dealerships, but thankfully, local garages can handle most of the maintenance for a fraction of the cost. Overall, I'm extremely satisfied with my purchase and am already dreading the day I have to replace it. June 2018 update: The dealership has reorganized its service department and is now offering specials to regain customers. The tires still have plenty of tread, and everything is still working well.Still don't see anything in the market which could be a worthwhile replacement. December 2019 update. Tires replaced September 18 with the same brand as they lasted 38k miles, not bad at all for an SUV. Brakes replaced at 40k miles. PDK fluids and filters also changed. The car has been super reliable. Everything still works. The market has finally caught up. Newer models have more technology. Everyone has made their SUV faster and better. The last five years have been trouble-free with this vehicle. It handled city highways and winding roads with aplomb. I could probably drive it for another five without breaking a sweat. However, my needs have changed, and I no longer need an SUV. The SUV craze gripping the country is making some beloved sedans disappear. I finally traded the Macan S in for a sports sedan. Best get one before those are gone.

Fast, sophisticated, reliable and a German masterpiece!

  4. Brody Mann 2024-11-26

I bought my Macan S a week ago and I love it! It rides so smoothly and quietly. Although I haven't been driving with gas mileage in mind, I'm currently getting 19 mpg. I love everything about it and I find myself looking for reasons to go places just to drive it around. I know my review may be premature, but so far it's been great!

  5. Scot Ortiz 2024-11-22

Owning a Porsche usually means sacrificing some practicality in terms of having a car that can be used as a daily driver. However, the Macan offers the opportunity to enjoy Porsche's legendary performance even for those of us with kids still in car seats. It is a vehicle that is just as comfortable at the mall as it is on the track. The GTS model offers the highest levels of performance, but the 'S' model provides plenty of acceleration and more capability than most drivers will ever need. The 18-way power seats are phenomenal and definitely worth the upgrade. With the 'premium plus' option, you get keyless entry and ignition, an upgraded sound system, and ventilated/heated seats. The 2017 model year features an upgraded touch screen navigation that is better than previous models, although not as user-friendly as some of the competition's. The packages can easily turn this $54,000 car into a $70,000-$90,000 car, but nobody expects to get a great value when making this purchase.
