    • Owners have reported problems with the PDK transmission, including failure lights, rough gear changes, transmission faults, and emergency warnings on the dashboard. The PDK transmission, known for its performance, can experience issues with the electronic and hydraulic clutch sections, leading to operational issues and potential failures.

BACK OVER PREVENTION PROBLEM

  • Date Of Incident: 2024-03-01
  • VIN: WP1AF2A57LL
  • Components: BACK OVER PREVENTION
  • Summary: the rear view (and front and side) cameras work intermittently. This makes parking very difficult and when backing out of the driveway you cannot see if there is an object in the vehicle's path. Issue started several months ago and has been getting progressively worse (more frequent). Have noted that other owners have same issue reported on various forums.

FUEL/PROPULSION SYSTEM PROBLEM

  • Date Of Incident: 2023-09-16
  • VIN: WP1AA2A57LL
  • Components: FUEL/PROPULSION SYSTEM
  • Summary: As I was stepping on the accelerator, I heard two pops and somehow the car lost its torque/pull. Check engine light came on. Went to the dealership and they said the high pressure fuel pump is broken and it cracked. There seems to be a recall for 2015 to 2018 models, but not 2020 models. My car only has 13000 miles too. Safety wise, I felt endangered since the car couldn't accelerate properly.

STRUCTURE,AIR BAGS PROBLEM

  • Date Of Incident: 2023-03-07
  • VIN: WP1AA2A59LL
  • Components: STRUCTURE,AIR BAGS
  • Summary: A terrible drain design that has plugged drains emptying rain water into the car. The water from rear drain will fill into then Battery & Sub woofer compartment under under the spare. The drains are not easy to access for cleaning either. you have to be pulling off wheel liners and yanking/cleaning the plugs just so my car doesn’t flood itself. Porsche should modify the plugs so water does not flood into the car. This water damaged caused over $6,500 worth of damage. The main factor is the Airbag Sensors were faulted by the water damage. Might have effects the Airbag function if I was in an accident. That is what scares me

  • Components: TIRES
  • Summary: The contact owns a 2020 Porsche Macan equipped with Continental Tires, Tires Line: ContiSportContact, Tire Sizes: 265/40/R21, DOT Number: HW43D3JM4320 and 295/35/R21, DOT Number: HW7DD3JK4820. The contact was able to veer to the side of the road. The vehicle was towed to the dealer where it was diagnosed and a diagnostic report was sent to the manufacturer. The manufacturer sent a letter to the contact, stating that the tires experienced impact damage on the sidewall, which caused the tire blowouts overtime; therefore, they could not assist. The contact stated that the tires were brand new replacement equipment. The tires were not replaced. Additionally, the contact stated that the failure was a recurring failure and she had previously replaced tires 8 to 10 times. The tire failure mileage was unknown. AIR BAGS PROBLEM

  • Date Of Incident: 2021-10-12
  • Number Of Injuries: 1
  • Crash: 1
  • VIN: WP1AA2A54LL
  • Components: AIR BAGS
  • Summary: I was involved in an accident October 12, 2021 in which the passenger side of my car was hit. The damage was from the front passenger door to the rear bumper. The total damage to date 02/18/2022 is approximately $25K. In the incident - not one single air bag deployed. I suffered a concussion as I hit my head upon impact. I reported the incident directly to Porsche within 2 weeks of the accident. I was transparent with all information and provided all requested documents to Porsche. However, I was advised in December that their engineers weren't able to inspect the airbags and the car worked as it was supposed to in the accident. Strangely enough - I am still waiting as of today 02/18/2022 for my car repairs to be completed by the body shop. So there was ample time for Porsche to inspect the airbag system - 4 months to be exact. Porsche touts it's safety as a top selling feature and I am yet to receive a resolution to the incident of the airbags not deploying during the accident.

Negative 2020 Porsche Macan car reviews

  1. Johnathon Mraz 2024-10-10

I hope you're doing well! I wanted to share my experience with the car. Overall, it's a good car. When we purchased it in Florida, the ride was smooth and enjoyable. However, when we returned to Wisconsin, we noticed that the ride was a bit rough and noisy due to the road conditions. The suspension could be a bit more forgiving, but it still has a sporty feel to it. We also have a 2018 BMW X3, and the difference in ride and smoothness is quite noticeable. While I'm not completely dissatisfied with the Mecan S, I do prefer driving the BMW 10 out of 10 times. Thank you for taking the time to read my thoughts on the car!

  2. Fernando Stanton 2024-09-20

My Macon Turbo recently had a complete brake job at 3500 miles. However, I have found that many of the features are not very intuitive or commonsense based. For example, the wipers work poorly in mist, the heat blower is unpowered, and an air vent constantly blows air in your face. Additionally, the Bluetooth is of an archaic design and must be re-set to your phone often, and the seats 'forget' to re-set. The trunk cannot hold golf clubs, and the lane change design is almost fatally dangerous in the Turbo with 20 Pirellis on. The in-lane warning works sporadically, among other inexplicable failures. It takes at least 6 tries to get the electronic outside finger-touch door lock to work. However, this car has one and only one feature that does not drive you angry: it can handle speeds up to 135 on the Pennsylvania Turnpike with almost no effort. The transmission is incredible and the only real reason to buy this car is simply because of that transmission and the experience that you get from it in manual. You can't buy it anywhere else. Because if you could, I would. I would advise caution when considering this car for any other reason than going really fast in a very fat hatchback. As someone who has owned 10 Porsches over 40 years, I can say that this car is not up to par.

Hello! I hope you're doing well. I wanted to share my experience with my 2020 Porsche Macan that I purchased from Greenwich Porsche on 4/21. Unfortunately, I've been having some trouble with the brakes. They make a loud squealing noise, almost like an 18 wheeler, especially in stop and go traffic. When I reached out to Greenwich and Fairfield Porsche, they told me that this is a common issue with high performance brakes. However, I'm not convinced as none of my friends who own Porsches have ever mentioned this issue, and I haven't read about it in any Porsche writeups. I'm feeling a bit frustrated and concerned for my safety, especially since I paid cash for this vehicle. I'm hoping to find some information or advice on whether this is a common issue with Porsche Macan 2020 brakes or any Porsche brakes in general. Thank you for your help!

  4. Antwan Hermiston 2024-02-06

I hope you're doing well! I noticed that you mentioned your 2017 Macan GTS had a smoother and more refined ride due to its electronic air suspension. Since there was no GTS available at the time, you decided to go for the 2020 S instead. Living in New York, you've experienced that most roads have a brutally harsh ride quality, but on the highway at high speed, it's a true sports car. It's fast and very well built. Without the GTS suspension, you wouldn't have made the deal or paid much less for the base Macan, not the S.

Positive 2020 Porsche Macan car reviews

  1. Flavio Legros 2024-10-21

I'm so excited about my new car! As a loyal Lexus customer for 20 years, I was hesitant to switch, but so far, I'm loving it. While the Porsche dealers could improve their service area with amenities like food, massage chairs, and drinks, the Lexus dealer has always been professional and accommodating. I'm looking forward to seeing how the car holds up, but overall, I'm extremely happy with my purchase!

  2. Furman Blanda 2024-10-21

I ordered my 2019 base Macan and received it three months later in June 2019. Before making my decision, I test-drove many 2018 Macans with both the 4-cylinder and 6-cylinder engines. Coming from a 456-hp Panamera E-Hybrid, I found the 6-cylinder Macans to be underwhelming and not worth the extra expense above the base Macan. Additionally, the base Macan gets much better gas mileage. On long highway trips at speeds of 70 mph with ACC on, I typically get 27-28 mpg, but only about 21-22 mpg in local town driving. I decided to get the base Macan to save money, and especially on keeping options to a minimum. My final price was about $54k. My must-have options were 14-way seats, ACC, blind-spot monitoring, heated front seats, and a nifty dashboard rotating compass with altitude and time display. I wasn't going to spend money on getting a heated steering wheel, so my dealership threw that in for free, knowing they'd likely be selling it in the future after I trade in for another Porsche. Yes, all my selected options come standard on many much-cheaper cars, including our 2021 RAV4 Prime. This 2019 version of the Macan was the first year of the so-called The 2019 Macan and 2018 Panamera have a really nice feature that I love. There's a dial below the infotainment screen that allows you to zoom in or out on the map, which is much better than trying to pinch the screen with your fingers or tap the '+' or '-' buttons while driving. The right-side digital display in the instrument panel is also great, as it shows numerous important items while driving, including tire pressure of each tire in psi, a diagram showing how much power is going to each of the four wheels at any given time, phone contact list that you can select from to call from your steering wheel, trip and mpg info, map showing where you are, oil level, and a configurable screen showing five items that allows you to choose between a bunch of different data, including date/time, outside temperature, 12-volt battery level, oil temp, engine temp, altitude above sea level, compass heading, etc. The myriad of buttons in the center panel (below the screen and surrounding the gear shifter) is comforting to have in this era of putting too many climate controls and driving-mode controls into infotainment screens. This version is much better than the haptic buttons now present in new Porsche models today (2022+). Although I would have preferred having a drive-mode dial on my steering wheel to go back and forth between normal and Sport mode, the button awkwardly placed near the gear shifter is still manageable. Despite the only ca. 250 hp of my engine, acceleration in my base Macan is very good. The car's computers learn that I'm a fast driver and fast accelerator from stop, and it adjusts the mapping accordingly so that I have few complaints about the 4-cylinder not being peppy enough.I have found the PDK automatic or manual gear shifting to be very good but not excellent in both my 2018 Panamera and my 2019 Macan. I appreciate that Porsche offers the option of 18-inch wheels and an all-metal roof, which are areas where other car manufacturers tend to charge a premium for larger wheels and glass roofs. Additionally, I am glad that I was not forced to purchase auto-tinting rear-view mirrors, expensive quad tailpipes, all-leather seats, or other options that can easily double the starting MSRP, even in a base Macan. The overall driving stability of the base Macan (and all Porsches!) at high speeds is impressive and makes me feel very safe, similar to the Volvos that we've owned in the past. I also appreciate the 8-inch ground clearance in my Macan, which is one of the reasons why I traded in my second Panamera for it. The ability to put my own SD card of music into the storage box between the front seats is a nice touch, which I think Porsche is doing away with now, sadly, in its newer models. The standard LED headlights and tail lights are very attractive and excellent for night-time visibility. Although I wish Porsche would allow the infrared night-vision camera in the Macan (as it does in Cayenne and Panamera), my biggest wish of all is that Porsche would create a Macan E-Hybrid, as that would be the perfect vehicle for me. I have taken my Macan on multiple cross-country road trips (at least three of which were more than 6k miles roundtrip), and like my Panameras before it, it's a fabulous long road-tripper. Additionally, I can take the Macan off paved roads much more easily in places that I like to go in the unpopulated western US federal lands. There's a lot to like about my base Macan! The only thing I would prefer is a plug-in hybrid for local driving in all-electric mode, especially with the abysmal 21-mpg gas range in-town. However, the 20-gallon gas tank is a huge plus, as it means I don't have to go to gas stations as often. It's also great that there's a spare wheel/tire standard, which I have had to use once. Although, I do wish there was a full-size spare instead of the dinky temp spare that you can only go about 40 mph on and for only a few miles. Overall, I rate my 2019 Macan a 4.5 out of 5 stars. It gets an A+ for value for the money, with the limited options that I chose. It would be near-perfect and get a 5 out of 5 if it had an E-Hybrid (PHEV) drive train.

  3. Scottie Spinka 2024-10-18

Overall, the car is very good. The interior and exterior are great, and the infotainment system is also fantastic. The cornering and braking are fantastic for an SUV, even better than many sedans. The acceleration is good, but not great. If it is not in Sport mode, it has poor throttle response and not great shifting. However, in sport mode, it is super fun to drive, with quick throttle response and a fast CVT transmission with the option of quick paddle shifters. Even with the 4-cylinder turbo, it is a blast to drive and will always pull if you need it to. The car is extremely stable and comfortable, almost too stable because you can be going 90 and think you are going 50-60 on the highway. The trunk space is okay, but could definitely be better, same with the rear seats. However, the performance is worth it. You definitely notice the 0.3 seconds of turbo lag when flooring it from a stop, but otherwise, you won't. The front seats are comfortable, and the car is good in most weather, and great in the snow because of PSC and the good AWD system. It can do some basic off-roading if you need to (even has a mode for it). I would definitely recommend it, but keep in mind that it doesn't have the storage of most SUVs.

  4. Damon Dach 2024-10-11

Coming up on 4 years of ownership, and we can confidently say that this is the best car we've ever owned. Even though it's a base model, it's still fun to drive. It's incredibly reliable and always does what it's supposed to do. The only thing we would've loved is remote start.

  5. Rowan Bruen 2024-10-01

I've owned BMW, Mercedes, Lexus, Acura, and now my first Porsche. It has been the best experience I've ever had. I am now a Porsche convert!
