BACK OVER PREVENTION PROBLEM
- Date Of Incident: 2024-03-01
- VIN: WP1AF2A57LL
- Components: BACK OVER PREVENTION
- Summary: the rear view (and front and side) cameras work intermittently. This makes parking very difficult and when backing out of the driveway you cannot see if there is an object in the vehicle's path. Issue started several months ago and has been getting progressively worse (more frequent). Have noted that other owners have same issue reported on various forums.
FUEL/PROPULSION SYSTEM PROBLEM
- Date Of Incident: 2023-09-16
- VIN: WP1AA2A57LL
- Components: FUEL/PROPULSION SYSTEM
- Summary: As I was stepping on the accelerator, I heard two pops and somehow the car lost its torque/pull. Check engine light came on. Went to the dealership and they said the high pressure fuel pump is broken and it cracked. There seems to be a recall for 2015 to 2018 models, but not 2020 models. My car only has 13000 miles too. Safety wise, I felt endangered since the car couldn't accelerate properly.
SERVICE BRAKES PROBLEM
- Date Of Incident: 2023-03-30
- Components: SERVICE BRAKES
- Summary: The contact owns a 2020 Porsche Macan. The contact stated while driving 35 MPH and depressing on the brake pedal, the vehicle started shaking abnormally. There was no warning light illuminated. The vehicle was taken to the dealer to be diagnosed. The contact was informed that the issue was due to wear and tear on the rotors and brake pads. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was contacted and stated the brakes and rotors were not under warranty. The failure mileage was 20,000. The VIN was not available.
STRUCTURE,AIR BAGS PROBLEM
- Date Of Incident: 2023-03-07
- VIN: WP1AA2A59LL
- Components: STRUCTURE,AIR BAGS
- Summary: A terrible drain design that has plugged drains emptying rain water into the car. The water from rear drain will fill into then Battery & Sub woofer compartment under under the spare. The drains are not easy to access for cleaning either. you have to be pulling off wheel liners and yanking/cleaning the plugs just so my car doesn’t flood itself. Porsche should modify the plugs so water does not flood into the car. This water damaged caused over $6,500 worth of damage. The main factor is the Airbag Sensors were faulted by the water damage. Might have effects the Airbag function if I was in an accident. That is what scares me
ELECTRICAL SYSTEM PROBLEM
- Date Of Incident: 2020-10-01
- VIN: WP1AA2A55LL
- Components: ELECTRICAL SYSTEM
- Summary: MY 2020 PORSCHE MACAN FROM DELIVERY NEW ON 10/2/2020 HAS EXPERIENCED FAILURE OF BACK-UP CAMERA SYSTEM (A DOT REQUIRED PIECE OF SAFETY EQUIPMENT). MANY TRIPS TO DEALER, BEING TOLD IT IS SOFTWARE PROBLEM AND I SHOULD JUST WAIT A FEW YEARS FOR A FIX AS PORSCHE HAS NONE AND REFUSES TO SPEND ANYTHING TO MAKE REPAIR OR REPLACEMENT. I AM AWARE OF OTHER SIMILAR VEHICLES WITH SAME PROBLEM WHEREIN PORSCHE IS NOT DOING A FIX, BUT TELING OWNERE TO WAIT A COUPLE OF YEARS! SOMETIMES HITTING REAR BUMPER WITH SOFT MALLET RESTARTS CAMERA!!!
SERVICE BRAKES PROBLEM
- Date Of Incident: 2022-10-24
- VIN: wp1aa2a5xll
- Components: SERVICE BRAKES
- Summary: The 2020 Macan developed extreme shakes with 14,000 miles. I had to replace rear brakes and rotors at 14,000 and fronts brakes and rotors at 21,000 at a cost of $3,000.00. Porsche has denied payment for these defective parts. They should recall and fix this ridiculous brake and rotor failures before someone is killed.
TIRES PROBLEM
- Date Of Incident: 2022-01-13
- Components: TIRES
- Summary: The contact owns a 2020 Porsche Macan equipped with Continental Tires, Tires Line: ContiSportContact, Tire Sizes: 265/40/R21, DOT Number: HW43D3JM4320 and 295/35/R21, DOT Number: HW7DD3JK4820. The contact stated while driving approximately 30-35 MPH, the front passenger's side and the rear passenger's side tires experienced blowouts, causing the vehicle to spin out. The contact was able to veer to the side of the road. The vehicle was towed to the dealer where it was diagnosed and a diagnostic report was sent to the manufacturer. The manufacturer sent a letter to the contact, stating that the tires experienced impact damage on the sidewall, which caused the tire blowouts overtime; therefore, they could not assist. The contact stated that the tires were brand new replacement equipment. The tires were not replaced. Additionally, the contact stated that the failure was a recurring failure and she had previously replaced tires 8 to 10 times. The tire failure mileage was unknown. The vehicle failure mileage was approximately 18,000. VIN was not available
AIR BAGS PROBLEM

- Summary: I was involved in an accident October 12, 2021 in which the passenger side of my car was hit. The damage was from the front passenger door to the rear bumper. The total damage to date 02/18/2022 is approximately $25K. In the incident - not one single air bag deployed. I suffered a concussion as I hit my head upon impact. I reported the incident directly to Porsche within 2 weeks of the accident. I was transparent with all information and provided all requested documents to Porsche. However, I was advised in December that their engineers weren't able to inspect the airbags and the car worked as it was supposed to in the accident. Strangely enough - I am still waiting as of today 02/18/2022 for my car repairs to be completed by the body shop. So there was ample time for Porsche to inspect the airbag system - 4 months to be exact. Porsche touts it's safety as a top selling feature and I am yet to receive a resolution to the incident of the airbags not deploying during the accident.
BACK OVER PREVENTION PROBLEM
- Date Of Incident: 2021-12-18

To fully appreciate this car, it's important to understand the technology and the costs associated with its upkeep. That being said, it's an incredibly powerful and enjoyable driving experience. While it may not be the most fuel-efficient option, the thrill of the ride is well worth it.

This car is incredibly quiet, has excellent acceleration, and handles like a dream - just like my Cayman (which I also own). It replaced my 2017 Mercedes GL250, which I regret purchasing. The front seat comfort is exceptional, even for my 6’7” neighbor who went for a test drive (although you wouldn't want to be sitting in the rear seat behind him). Update 9-30-18: I've now driven over 13,000 miles in the Macan, which I primarily use for business, and I haven't had any issues with the car whatsoever. Even though it's the base model, the acceleration on the highway for passing is still impressive. The throttle response and grip from a standing start are excellent, thanks in part to the all-wheel drive. In contrast, the Mercedes GLA 250 was downright annoying; it required careful pressure on the throttle to avoid spinning the front tires, and once in motion, the throttle steer was terrible. Porsche's exceptional engineering eliminates these annoying factors. In July of this year, we took one of our grandkids with us on a road trip to the Smoky Mountains in North Carolina for a wedding. The car had plenty of room, even with the plug-in refrigerator in the back. Handling on the mountain roads, with a somewhat heavier load than normal, was superb. The 12-hour drive was very comfortable. We both love the seats and interior design. The lane change assist eliminates the blind spot and makes driving much safer and easier. The lane keep assist is something we both could live without, but when active, it's a rather subtle sound, so we've just learned to keep it on. I've had a few clients mention that “business must be good” when I arrive in the Porsche. My response is usually “don’t let the badge fool you, it’s cheaper than some pick-up trucks.” Service: The 10k mile service at Champion Porsche is a pleasure and a striking difference from the Pompano Beach Mercedes dealer across the street, which is terrible (even the service manager doesn’t return calls). One thing that we noticed about the factory roof racks is that they add considerable wind noise, but they are easy to install and remove. We have put over 25,000 miles on the car in 13 months and we still love the handling and comfort. In fact, we even won first place in the men's and ladies stock class at a Porsche 48 hours club race in Sebring. The Macan surprised us with its exceptional handling and we even drove faster than some 911's and Caymans! The 20K mile service cost about $1200.00, which included all of the factory recommended service, including windshield wipers. The tire wear is very good with no unusual wear. However, we did notice that the rear window and lift gate seem to collect more dust and dirt than other cars. Additionally, the lift gate can sometimes be finicky when closing with the push buttons, so we learned the hard way to watch and make sure it closes all the way before driving away. Despite these minor issues, we still love this little SUV. We now have about 44,650 miles on the Macan and have had no mechanical issues whatsoever. We did have to install two new rear tires due to nails and we're on the third windscreen. Road debris (we're on the interstate highways often) caused cracks. One thing that needs to be improved is the gas fill drain, as it gets clogged easily and will retain water. It's very easy to check and clean, however. Just wanted to give you a quick update on our Macan - it now has 69k miles on the clock and we are still very impressed with it! The comfort and sporty feel on the road and curves is outstanding, and we've had no issues with reliability. We drove the S model but found the 2.0 liter base model to be very fast and economical. For reference, we also own a 718 GT4 so we have a very fast car to compare it to. The reviews tend to push the S model as you'd expect, but if you're not sure, I suggest you drive both. Don't underestimate the base model Macan! We love it so much that we've even built our own to our spec and will have the new 2022 base model arrive in January 2022.

Other SUVs may get slightly better gas mileage and offer a bit more cargo space, but when it comes to drivability, nothing can beat the Macan S. It's incredibly fast, with no lean or lag, and provides a smooth ride without any bouncing. The steering is just right in terms of effort, road hold, and feedback, while the braking is impressively strong. I particularly love the dry sump oil pumps that make the car quieter and accelerate better, as well as the two turbos that provide extra torque and agility. Having tested all the luxury SUVs, the Macan S immediately stood out to me, and I was blown away when I drove it.

Firstly, I want to make it clear that the Base is an exceptional car - it truly is. I personally owned a 2018 model for two years and absolutely adored it. Having owned many cars in the past, I can confidently say that I have only ever repurchased a car twice, and this is the first time I have done so back-to-back. The build quality and interior fit and finish are simply fantastic, and nothing else on the market can compare - regardless of price. While it may not be the ideal choice for families due to its size, this is precisely why I love it so much. Despite being a larger individual, I still prefer smaller cars, and the Macan feels like a bigger, higher-end version of my all-time favourite car, the GTI. Although they may be expensive and charge extra for certain features that other manufacturers include in their base prices, I believe that the Macan is well worth the investment. I considered other models such as the x3 M40i, Stelvio, and Velar, but none of them come close to the Macan's build quality, handling, and overall performance. If you're not a performance junkie, the BASE model is absolutely good enough. However, if you can afford it, the S model is a great all-around choice that you won't regret. For the true Porsche experience in a CUVT, the GTS is definitely the one to get. While the Turbo is certainly appealing, in my humble opinion, it's only worth it if you load it up with the performance and handling features that come standard in the GTS but are optional in the Turbo. If you're considering a Macan, I highly recommend going for it - you won't regret it.

I purchased this vehicle in October 2015 and have primarily used it for highway driving and touring with a couple of golden retrievers. Although the Macan is a sports car with a hatch, it can easily handle a girlfriend (if she's low maintenance) and a couple of 70lb pups. The interior is top-notch, and the base hi-fi is just fine. Bluetooth and music (iPod) connectivity are flawless. When it comes to the seats, I recommend going for the middle package (Premium package) and sticking with 19-inch tires. The 20-inch tires may look cool, but they wear faster and add to the cost, in my opinion. I also chose the sunroof and rails. As for the ride, the car handles like a well-behaved sports car (I also have a 997 C2S and 996 GT3) and can get you in trouble when going from 70 to 100 in a flash... it's effortless. Although I also have an X5 and two X3's in the stable (kids and dog/beach mobile), they're great trucks... the Macan is not that. I would definitely buy it again when this one hits 150k and I give it to my daughter...

I hope you're doing well! I wanted to share my experience with the car. Overall, it's a good car. When we purchased it in Florida, the ride was smooth and enjoyable. However, when we returned to Wisconsin, we noticed that the ride was a bit rough and noisy due to the road conditions. The suspension could be a bit more forgiving, but it still has a sporty feel to it. We also have a 2018 BMW X3, and the difference in ride and smoothness is quite noticeable. While I'm not completely dissatisfied with the Mecan S, I do prefer driving the BMW 10 out of 10 times. Thank you for taking the time to read my thoughts on the car!

My Macon Turbo recently had a complete brake job at 3500 miles. However, I have found that many of the features are not very intuitive or commonsense based. For example, the wipers work poorly in mist, the heat blower is unpowered, and an air vent constantly blows air in your face. Additionally, the Bluetooth is of an archaic design and must be re-set to your phone often, and the seats 'forget' to re-set. The trunk cannot hold golf clubs, and the lane change design is almost fatally dangerous in the Turbo with 20 Pirellis on. The in-lane warning works sporadically, among other inexplicable failures. It takes at least 6 tries to get the electronic outside finger-touch door lock to work. However, this car has one and only one feature that does not drive you angry: it can handle speeds up to 135 on the Pennsylvania Turnpike with almost no effort. The transmission is incredible and the only real reason to buy this car is simply because of that transmission and the experience that you get from it in manual. You can't buy it anywhere else. Because if you could, I would. I would advise caution when considering this car for any other reason than going really fast in a very fat hatchback. As someone who has owned 10 Porsches over 40 years, I can say that this car is not up to par.

Hello! I hope you're doing well. I wanted to share my experience with my 2020 Porsche Macan that I purchased from Greenwich Porsche on 4/21. Unfortunately, I've been having some trouble with the brakes. They make a loud squealing noise, almost like an 18 wheeler, especially in stop and go traffic. When I reached out to Greenwich and Fairfield Porsche, they told me that this is a common issue with high performance brakes. However, I'm not convinced as none of my friends who own Porsches have ever mentioned this issue, and I haven't read about it in any Porsche writeups. I'm feeling a bit frustrated and concerned for my safety, especially since I paid cash for this vehicle. I'm hoping to find some information or advice on whether this is a common issue with Porsche Macan 2020 brakes or any Porsche brakes in general. Thank you for your help!

I hope you're doing well! I noticed that you mentioned your 2017 Macan GTS had a smoother and more refined ride due to its electronic air suspension. Since there was no GTS available at the time, you decided to go for the 2020 S instead. Living in New York, you've experienced that most roads have a brutally harsh ride quality, but on the highway at high speed, it's a true sports car. It's fast and very well built. Without the GTS suspension, you wouldn't have made the deal or paid much less for the base Macan, not the S.
