2009 Porsche Cayenne problems
The Porsche Cayenne is a series of automobiles manufactured by the German company Porsche since 2002. It is a luxury crossover SUV and has been described as both a full-sized and a mid-sized vehicle. The first generation was known internally within Porsche as the Type 9PA (955/957) or E1. It was the first V8-engined vehicle built by Porsche since 1995, when the Porsche 928 was discontinued. It is also Porsche's first off-road variant vehicle since its Super and Junior tractors of the 1950s, and the first Porsche with four doors. Since 2014, the Cayenne has been sold alongside a smaller Porsche SUV, the Macan.
The second-generation Cayenne (Type 92A or E2) was unveiled at the 2010 Geneva Motor Show in March. The Cayenne shares its platform, body frame, doors and electronics with the similar Volkswagen Touareg and Audi Q7. It received a facelift in 2014 with minor external changes, and introduced a new plug-in E-Hybrid version, with its public launch at the Paris Motor Show. Since 2008, all engines have featured direct injection technology. The third generation (Type PO536) was unveiled in 2017 at Stuttgart.
First generation (E1 9PA; 2002)
The original Porsche Cayenne entered into the global market to a mixed reception, but it proved itself to have excellent performance for an SUV and had comparably good handling as well as powerful engines. The lineup initially consisted of the V8-powered Cayenne S and Cayenne Turbo. Later in the model cycle, VR6 and diesel-powered versions joined the lineup. In the eight model years of the E1 generation, a total of 276,652 units were produced.
The base model Cayenne is powered by a 3.2-L VR6 engine producing 250 PS (184 kW; 247 hp). The intake manifold is unique to Porsche, but otherwise the engine is largely the same as the VW engine. Acceleration from 0–100 km/h (0–62 mph) is 9.1 seconds with the manual transmission and 9.7 seconds with the Tiptronic S.

This is an amazing vehicle! It has the Dynamic Ride Control, which eliminates body roll in turns. It's fast as hell and drives more like an SL 55 than a truck. The lines are gorgeous and it's so much fun to drive. If you're looking for an SUV and you have the money, I highly recommend buying the Cayenne Turbo!

You've had quite the collection of cars! From Mercedes to BMW to Lexus and more. But it's clear that your 2008 Porsche holds a special place in your heart. While repairs can be costly, they are few and far between. It's understandable that you regret selling your Porsche Cayman, but it's great to hear that you plan on driving your Cayenne for a few more years.

I'm glad to hear that you've had a positive experience with this car! It's great to know that it has the best handling out of all the SUVs you've driven. While it may not be the most spacious option for families, it's still impressive that it can comfortably fit a family of five. I understand that you would prefer more power and better mileage from the V6 engine. Thank you for sharing your thoughts on this car!

I have owned Porsche 911s for over 25 years. The Cayenne turbo is by far the fastest car I have owned. It handles fantastically and the interior computer, once mastered, provides all the information one would need. The handling is far superior to any previous SUV I have owned. I highly recommend this car to anyone.

The 2008 Cayenne is an impressive vehicle. I really like everything about it. In fact, I liked it so much that I bought a Boxster just a couple of weeks after purchasing the Cayenne. Porsche is truly a quality automobile, way above the rest. I have owned BMW, Audi, and Mercedes, and there is simply no comparison.

I purchased this car back in March of 2007. Although I have had a few issues with it, the dealer has been helpful in resolving them. Initially, there were some paint runs on both sides of the license plate, but the dealer was able to wet sand them off. There is a puttering sound that comes from the rear passenger area, which the dealer and Porsche have explained is normal for all 2008 models due to something with the fuel pump. I did have to return to the dealer again when I discovered some splotches under the clear coat on the entire hood, but they were able to fix it with wet sanding. While the acceleration is not as good as the S model and the gear shifting can be sluggish, overall I still enjoy driving this car.

Overall performance is good. However, there have been some issues with oil burning and various components breaking within the warranty period. Despite these challenges, the car remains powerful, responsive, and fun to drive. It is worth noting that I have owned BMW X5 and some Japanese cars, but this car has had more issues than any of them.
Omer Hamill 2024-02-15
The 2008 model of the car has a puttering sound coming from the rear passenger side, which is a normal occurrence. However, this is not the case with previous models and is caused by the fuel pump. The back of the car had two areas of horrible paint runs, which were wet sanded off. Additionally, the entire roof was wet sanded due to flaws left in the clear coat by the protective wrap. There is a great deal of road noise and in-cabin noise caused by creaking back seats and various rattles. Excessive air noise is also coming in from the front passenger window, which can be stopped by pressing against the lower inside window. The dealer has confirmed that these issues are normal. Rest assured, we have taken care of all the necessary repairs and maintenance to ensure that the car is in top condition.
