The Porsche 911 (pronounced Nine Eleven or in German: Neunelf) is a two-door 2+2 high performance rear-engined sports car introduced in September 1964 by Porsche AG of Stuttgart, Germany. - Summary: Porsche Cars North America, Inc. (Porsche) is recalling certain model year 2014-2015 Porsche 911, Boxster, and Cayman vehicles manufactured May 7, 2014, to September 23, 2014. The front hood upper lock components were not manufactured to specification and may fail to securely latch the vehicle's hood during operation.
- Consequence: A failure of the hood latching mechanism may cause the hood to suddenly open during vehicle operation and will severely impede the driver's ability to see out the front windshield, increasing the risk of a vehicle crash.
- Remedy: Porsche will notify owners, and dealers will replace the lock on the front hood, free of charge. The recall began December 12, 2014. Owners may contact Porsche customer service at 1-800-767-7243. Porsche's number for this recall is AE04.

Driving my 911 is the highlight of my day! I absolutely love it. My first Porsche was a 1995 Porsche 993 and my 991 is every bit as fun to drive. I don't buy a Porsche for comfort, tech gimmicks, nor appropriately sized cup holders, I get that from my Lexus sedan. I own a Porsche for its racing history, performance, and responsiveness. The 991 handles superbly on a road trip at 100 mph as well as on the streets in traffic. The acceleration for this base model is more than enough for where I live in the suburbs. I've been a proud owner of 911's for years. It has the highest resale value of any sports car and most cars in general, so you won't have to worry about any financial burden. The unique rear engine has been perfected over the years, making it an iconic and instantly recognizable car with its curvy and beautiful body. It's also very serviceable and doesn't require any more maintenance than a normal car. The performance is on point, with sports car handling and superb comfort, making it perfect for long road trips. It also has decent mileage and solid, vault-like quality. I especially love the all-wheel drive, which can even seat my kids in a pinch. The sound is incredible, and there's nothing I don't love about my 911. I highly recommend getting one, as you'll be hooked!

They talk about heritage, everyday daily driver, prestige, bla bla bla. But did you know that there are certain 911 models that are worth looking into, even though they may be unaffordable to the typical middle-class business person like myself? My particular car was packaged with 20-inch S wheels, 14-way seats, Bose, and a sunroof. As a BMW person, I wanted to try something different. After test driving the base 911, it seemed more than adequate. However, I later learned that this car was not for me. While it may be a fantastic car for some, I found the lack of tech, comfort, service, and performance to be disappointing. Here's the breakdown:TECH: The car has none. The user interface is outdated, making it difficult to navigate. Comfort: It would be challenging to take this car on a long-distance trip. Service: There is no complimentary service, and the warranty only lasts for two years. Performance: The base 911 is not what it claims to be. At 350 HP and a light body weight, it is underachieving. Don't get me wrong, if you're in the market for a Porsche 911, it's a fantastic car. But just be sure to do your research and consider all of your options before making a purchase.It's actually a smarter choice to buy a pre-owned S or Turbo. Nowadays, the competition easily outperforms base 911's. There are other factory-tuned cars that are cheaper, smarter, faster, more comfortable, and nicer looking. In conclusion, it's better to buy used instead of leasing or purchasing new. And don't forget to test drive the competition!

Lease this car and take advantage of Porsche's 12-month pull-ahead program. During my 15 months of ownership, I experienced a few issues such as my front seat coming unstitched twice, PCM being replaced twice, low oil light coming on, engine overheating, poor Bluetooth connectivity (only works with iPhone), and no heat. However, I was able to quickly resolve these issues with the help of the dealer. I ultimately decided to switch to the Boxster S, which is more fun to drive and has a quieter ride. Additionally, it is priced at 40K less than the previous car and has 50% more trunk space. If you're interested, there are great deals on Boxsters in Connecticut and New York. I was able to lease mine for only $114.00 down and $844.95 per month, which includes maintenance through Porsche and all taxes. The residual value is $50,400.00. I was able to get this deal from two different dealers at this price (1200.00 cost).
