The Xterra is an exceptional SUV, however, the tires could be improved. During my first 4-wheeling experience, I lost a tire and I believe that the soft, jelly bean tires are not suitable for such a rugged vehicle. Additionally, these tires negatively impact the gas mileage. I highly recommend switching them out as soon as possible to enhance the overall performance of the Xterra.

The 2011 Nissan Xterra S is our first Nissan, and we couldn't be happier with our choice. We are so impressed with the Xterra's performance both on and off the road, making it the perfect SUV for us. The exterior design is fantastic, and the interior is just as impressive. Overall, we feel that we got an amazing deal for the price we paid!

I've owned several SUV brands over the years, but this one is by far the best. It's a true SUV, not a crossover, with lots of space and is just generally a great car to drive. It's been very reliable, and I've driven it back and forth down South several times without any problems whatsoever. When I purchased it, it was a year old and certified new. Now, after 7 years, it still runs as if it's brand new. I've only performed regular maintenance such as oil changes and tire rotations, but otherwise, the car runs great without any problems. I would definitely purchase another Nissan, although cars are changing each year and I can't say the newest ones are made as well. As of 10/21, the car is still running great! I took it from FL to UT, changed out the tires, did some recommended maintenance, and the car is doing great! I will definitely consider another Nissan when looking to buy. As of 4/22/22, the car is still going strong! I keep up with routine maintenance, take it up the hills of UT, and it gets me through the snow. It's the best car ever! As of 10/2023, the car is still going strong! I've even had offers from others to purchase it, but it runs great, I keep up with maintenance, and it's doing great. Even the mechanics comment on how well this SUV runs.

Hi there! It's great to hear about your experience with your Xterra! It sounds like you really enjoyed owning it and got a lot of use out of it. It's always tough to say goodbye to a reliable car like that. From what you've said, it seems like the Xterra is a great value for the price, especially when it comes to capability and livability. It's good to know that it performed well in all conditions, too. Thanks for sharing your thoughts on this SUV!

Looking for a powerful and sturdy SUV with reasonable off-road capabilities, I chose X due to its fair pricing, solid BoF construction, great outward visibility, and cute look. I have put 5K miles on it so far, including a 2500 mile trip in 1 week, and I am really impressed with the acceleration and handling. The tight turn radius and perfect size make it a great fit for a single guy like me. I find X's firm seats very comfortable and the high seating position makes me feel confident. With high ground clearance, I don't need ramps when changing oil. I felt far less tired driving the X for a full day than my previous car, a Civic. Although the manual is not clear about gas octane, I use #89 since the engine is VQ.

So far so good! It hasn't left me stranded on the road yet. I did the radiator bypass when I bought the car in 2015 with about 53K miles just in case. I had to replace the cam and crankshaft sensors at around 95K miles, but other than that, just regular maintenance - fluids, filters, tires, and brake pads change. I average around 19.3 mpg. I hope to keep this car until 250K miles!
Miles Reinger 2024-08-21
I purchased my Xterra specifically for its off-road capabilities and wanted to share my thoughts after driving it for 36k miles. I opted for the manual transmission model because I was unsure if Nissan had resolved the automatic transmission issue. The first gear on the 6-speed is well-suited for crawling around technical rocky terrain, which is prevalent in my home state of Nevada. However, the stock tires were not suitable for hard wheeling conditions and performed poorly in snow and mud. I had to pull the fuse to allow the front wheels to spin in the snow, which unfortunately resulted in the front axle blowing up. Towing can be a bit sketchy, but overall, the vehicle's functions performed above average. The Rockford Fosgate sound system was excellent for a stock radio, and the fuel economy never exceeded 17 mpg, even when cruising down the highway in 6th gear. The paint on the Xterra was impressive, as it withstood scrapes from bushes and buffed out nicely during detailing. Overall, I enjoyed my Xterra. It's not perfect, but it's pretty good off-road and has enough room for camping gear and other awkward items since the seats fold down.
