- Summary: After getting the air bag control module reprogrammed per the recall, I was on a dirt road and the rollover airbags deployed when they shouldn’t have. The dealership I got the recall done at is claiming the airbag system registered “rollover conditions”. When I asked what the conditions were they told me they were unable to provide them. I am concerned either their reprogramming didn’t fix the issue or that they never actually reprogrammed it. Either way my airbags deployed when I was no where near a roll over situation and luckily no one was injured in this instance

- Summary: My air bag quit working. The light started going off. I took it to Nissan and they said I had to pay to have the light turned off before they would fix the recall. I could not afford to pay to have the light turned off. The line connecting to my transmission and radiator has failed. Transmission fluid is leaking into my radiator and coolant is leaking into my transmission. Both must be replaced. The repair shop looked up the recall and said that was why this happened. I cannot afford thousands of dollars to have this repaired. My car is 10 years old with 163k miles.

THE VEHICLE START TO SLOW DOWN, LOST POWER STEERING AND ALL DASHBOARD LIGHTS WERE ILLUMINATED (CHECK ENGINE, BATTERY, AIRBAG, SEATBELT, ETC.) BUT THE RADIO AND HEADLIGHTS REMAINED ON. PLACED THE VEHICLE IN PARK AND TURNED THE KEY IN THE OFF POSITION. RESTARTED THE VEHICLE AND IT STARTED UP IMMEDIATELY WITH NO DASHBOARD WARNING LIGHTS. WAS DRIVABLE WITH NO OTHER ISSUES FOR SEVERAL DAYS. THE VEHICLE STALLED A SECOND TIME ABOUT A WEEK OR SO LATER, WHILE IT WAS STATIONARY, AT A STOP LIGHT ON A CITY STREET. AGAIN, ALL THE DASHBOARD LIGHTS ILLUMINATED WHILE THE RADIO AND HEADLIGHTS REMAINED ON. TURNED THE KEY TO THE OFF POSITION AND ATTEMPTED TO RESTART THE VEHICLE. THE VEHICLE STARTED WITH NO PROBLEMS AND NO DASHBOARD WARNING LIGHTS. THE VEHICLE WAS OPERATIONAL AND WAS ABLE TO DRIVE HOME WITH NO ISSUES. I TOOK IT TO A TRUSTED MECHANIC AFTER BOTH INTERMITTENT STALLS. HE RAN DIAGNOSIS TESTS AFTER BOTH INCIDENTS AND NO CODES SHOWED UP. THE MECHANIC BELIEVES IT IS THE ECM RELAY THAT IS CAUSING THE ISSUE AFTER DOING SOME RESEARCH. A NEW BATTERY WAS INSTALLED BETWEEN STALLS THINKING THIS WAS THE CULPRIT. THE SECOND STALL OCCURRED THE DAY AFTER THE NEW BATTERY INSTALL.

WHEN I TOLD THEM I DIDN'T HAVE THE $460 THEY SAID MAKE SURE YOU WEAR YOUR SEAT BELT BECAUSE YOUR AIR BAGS WILL NOT WORK. THE IRONIC THING IS THAT I WAS AT THE DEALERSHIP BECAUSE OF A SAFETY RECALL BECAUSE THE AIR BAGS WOULD AUTOMATICALLY DEPLOY WHILE DRIVING DOWN THE ROAD. - Summary: MY ECU ON MY NISSAN XTERRA WAS SUPPOSEDLY SHORTED DUE TO A LOOSE OR DAMAGED CABLE. WITH MY INITIAL INSPECTION OF THE VEHICLE, THE CABLE WAS NOT LOOSE, YET I STILL HAD PROBLEMS. THE ISSUE HAPPENED WHEN I HAD PARKED MY VEHICLE TO RUN AN ERRAND. WHEN I RETURNED, I STARTED UP MY VEHICLE AND ATTEMPTED TO DRIVE. THERE WAS NO POWER AND THE ENGINE WOULD NOT ACCELERATE OVER 5 MPH. NOT WANTING THE VEHICLE TO BREAKDOWN ON A BUSY ROAD, I BACKED UP AND PARKED THE VEHICLE. I ATTEMPTED TO RESTART THE VEHICLE, BUT THIS TIME THE STARTER WOULD CRANK, BUT WOULD NOT TURN OVER. AFTER ATTEMPTING TO START IT A FEW TIMES, I DISCONNECTED THE BATTERIES AND RECONNECTED THE BATTERIES. STILL, THE VEHICLE WOULD CRANK AND NOT TURN OVER. I CALLED A TOW TRUCK, AND THEY BROUGHT THE VEHICLE TO FIRESTONE. FIRESTONE TOLD ME THAT THE BATTERY CABLES HAD SHORTED AND DESTROYED TEH ECU/ECM. I WAS QUOTED 1500 FOR A PIECE OF EQUIPMENT THAT SHOULD LAST THE LIFE OF THE VEHICLE. THE VEHICLE IS ONLY 5 YEARS OLD. THIS SOUNDED LIKE A VERY INTENSIVE PROCESS, SO I HAD THE VEHICLE TOWED TO NISSAN. AGAIN, THEY SAID IT WAS THE ECU/ECM. NISSAN TOLD ME THAT THE CABLES, THE BATTERY AND THE ECU NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. NISSAN HAS HAD PAST ISSUES WITH 2010 VEHICLES SHORTING OUT AND DESTROYING THE ECU'S. I BELIEVE THAT IT IS NISSAN'S FAULTY ELECTRICAL SYSTEMS OR POORLY CONSTRUCTED ECU'S THAT IS CAUSING THE DAMAGE. FOR SUCH AN EXPENSIVE PIECE OF EQUIPMENT TO BE RENDERED USELESS BY HAVING AN IMPORPER BATTERY CONNECTION SEEMS PROBLEMATIC AND POTENTIALLY UNSAFE. IT IS PROBLEMATIC, DUE TO TEH HISTORY OF NISSAN'S CABLES BECOMING CORRODED DUE TO THEIR BATTERY POSITION. LIKEWISE, THERE HAVE BEEN MANY CONSUMER COMPLAINTS THAT THE BATTERY TERMINALS ARE POORLY MADE, RESULTING IN VEHICLE FAILURE. THIS CAN BE DANGEROUS, FOR IF THE BATTERY TERMINALS FAIL, IT CAN CAUSE THE VEHICLE TO STOP FUNCTIONING, EVEN WHEN IT HAS BEEN STARTED.

Congratulations on your purchase of a 2010 Xterra S 4X4! The Xterra is a ruggedly built vehicle with plenty of power, making it a great choice for those who love adventure. While the Xterra may not offer a luxury ride, the seats are very comfortable and it drives like a truck. With great stopping power and acceleration, along with decent gas mileage for its size, it's a smooth ride all around. At 19 MPG, the Xterra may not be the most fuel-efficient option, but it's worth it for the power it provides. For the price, compared to other SUVs in the same category, you just can't go wrong with it! I highly recommend this car to anyone in the market for a reliable and powerful vehicle. Original owner since 2010. I'm absolutely in love with it! I've had no issues, just regular maintenance, and it's already at 180000km. In the winter time, it's hands down the best SUV to drive.

I recently purchased an OFF ROAD package and managed to negotiate a great deal at $23,600. The total cost, including taxes and fees, came to around $27,700. As someone who is 6'4, I find the Xterra to be very comfortable. Although I haven't had the chance to take it off-road yet, I'm really looking forward to it. One of the features that sold me on the package was the rear locking differential and the off-road lights, which come as standard. Additionally, my wife is thrilled with the Bluetooth, portable Garmin navigation system, and Rockford Fosgate stereo. If you're in the market for a car, I highly recommend the Xterra, especially if you can find one at a good price.

My wife and I traded in our 08 Toyota Rav4 and we are already very pleased with our new car. The leather seats, XM radio, ride, performance, and handling are all great. We are also enjoying the optional navigation system, which is both cool and easy to use. While there are a few things we will need to get used to, such as the lack of automatic headlights and the unusual placement of the tire jack, we are overall very happy with our purchase. We did notice that the trip computer is faded and will need to be returned for a replacement, but we are confident that this issue will be resolved quickly.

I bought this vehicle 15 months ago and it has been great! Although it wasn't my first choice, it has performed perfectly and drives well. I haven't had to do much to keep it running smoothly. One thing to keep in mind is that the value of these vehicles drops quite quickly, so be aware of that when buying and negotiating with dealerships.

The ABS system has already been replaced on this 7-8 year old car with 80000 miles, and there have been issues with stalling as well as brake noise and loud sounds when going over bumps, resulting in an unsatisfactory driving experience. It is clear that improvements need to be made to the Xterra.

I recently traded in my 08 Pathfinder for a brand new Xterra Off Road. I was hoping to avoid the rattles that I experienced with my previous vehicle and thought that an off-road vehicle would be a good choice for durability. Unfortunately, I have only had my Xterra for a month and it is already rattling badly in the door panels and dash. I am hoping that my warranty will cover this issue. I am disappointed that a new vehicle would have such noticeable rattling. Even my 2000 Pathfinder had fewer rattles. I hope that Nissan can fix this issue, but if not, I may have to consider other options for my next purchase.

Hello, I am an older woman with a disability. Unfortunately, I recently purchased a car that has a major defect. The cooling line from the transmission into the radiator ruptures and fills the transmission with water. Although this has not happened yet, I was disappointed with Nissan's response when I asked them to remedy the defect. To make matters worse, the dealer let me drive the car for several days with 70 pounds of air in the tire when they were supposed to fix a flat on the Xterra. This has not only caused a financial hardship for me, but it has also put my safety at risk. I hope that Nissan and the dealer will take my complaint seriously and work with me to find a solution.

My parents just surprised me with this car and while I'm grateful, I have a couple of concerns. Firstly, there doesn't seem to be an outlet where I can plug in my phone to play music. Additionally, the car has a unique design that some may find unconventional. As a guy, I've noticed that this car is more commonly driven by women, which can be frustrating at times. I've even received comments about driving a 'chick car'.
