I DON'T KNOW WHO MADE THESE TIRE FOR SEARS. IN LIGHT OF THE CURRENT PROBLEMS WITH FIRESTONE TIRES, I AM CURIOUS IF THERE HAS BEEN OTHER PROBLEMS WITH THIS PARTICULAR TIRE. IN 1977, WHILE I WAS A POLICE OFFICER, IHAD A TIRE TOTALLY SEPERATE AND BLOW OUT, CAUSING LOSS OF CONTROL AND TOTALLING THE CAR. THESE TIRES WERE SHELL STEEL RADIALS MADE BY FIRESTONE. TWO WEEKS AFTER THE ACCIDENT, THE LEAA IN WASHINGTON SENT OUT A MEMO WARNING ALL AGENCIES TO RESTRICT SPEEDS OF VEHICLES WITH THESE TIRES TO LESS THAN 70MPH. I "AWOKE" AFTER 24 HOURS AND WAS MAINTAINED IN THE ICU FOR 5 DAYS. I HAVE SINCE RECOVERED BUT MISSED 4 MONTHS OF MEDICAL SCHOOL AND HAVE BEEN DELAYED THE OPPORTUNITY TO WORK FOR 2 YEARS. INVESTIGATORS HAVE SAID THAT THE WRECK WAS DUE TO TIRE FAILURE, WHICH CAUSED THE CAR TO CAREEN OUT OF CONTROL. I WAS VERY, VERY FORTUNATE. I absolutely love this vehicle! I got it about 2 months ago and put in $700 to get the brakes redone and some of my own man-hours to get it in top shape. I am 17 and don't have to make the payments, so I sort of drive it like that, and it takes it all. It creaks and groans, but nothing too major. We were looking at a 1991 Explorer, but it was sold before we could buy it. I'm so glad we got this one! It has plenty of room, loaded with features, and it looks good too.

I got this truck with 203,000 miles and have only had to replace the starter and battery. It always starts and has no trouble with my long bi-weekly drives. I'm excited to drive this truck in the Colorado winter.

I absolutely adore my 2000 Pathfinder! It has been such a reliable truck over the years, and I trust it more than some people I've met. Thanks to my amazing mechanic who takes great care of it, my Pathfinder still has excellent power, tight steering, and just the right amount of bounce (thanks to a 2: body lift) to make it an absolute joy to drive. The only minor issue I've encountered is that, as with any 17-year-old truck, rust has started to become a problem. But overall, I couldn't be happier with my beloved Pathfinder!

Your pathfinder has over 220,000 miles and is still running strong. The only problem you had was with the exhaust manifold gasket, but it was easy to fix.

Faults: Powers steering pump changed. Stock muffler changed; it was so clogged, small pieces of coal would come out of it. Driver's seat a bit worn out.

It's great to hear that you still own this Pathfinder and have driven it for 146 thousand miles! Although you've had to replace the brakes and rotors a few times, as well as the distributor and transmission (which could have been due to being hit in the rear end), it's good to know that the engine doesn't use any oil and that it's been a very dependable car. It's a shame that the body and frame are rusting out, but it's clear that you've taken good care of it. Thank you for sharing your experience with us!

I bought this truck when I started college and it has been great! The only thing that needed repair was the starter and the rear shocks due to a little offroading. It has lasted so well throughout the harsh ND winters and started every time. How amazing is that when we are talking about a 17 year old car?

This truck is the best vehicle you'll ever own! It was built to last and the great thing about it is that you can go offroad without any serious modifications! If you're a serious offroader, you can beef it up, but that would require swapping out the independent front suspension with a solid axle, which can be expensive. If you buy one used and maintain it well, it should last another 100K!
