The Nissan Altima is a mid-size car manufactured by Nissan since 1992. It is a continuation of the Nissan Bluebird line, which began in 1955.
The Altima has historically been larger, more powerful, and more luxurious than the Nissan Sentra but less so than the Nissan Maxima. The first through fourth-generation cars were manufactured exclusively in the United States and officially sold in North and South America, along with the Middle East and Australia. In 1992, Nissan discontinued the Stanza which was a Nissan Bluebird clone, replacing it with the US-built Altima, while remaining a compact car. The first Altima was produced in June 1992, as a 1993 model. All Altima models for the North American market were built in Smyrna, Tennessee, until June 2004, when Nissan's Canton, Mississippi plant also began producing the model to meet high demand.

THE DEALERSHIP AT WOODFIELD NISSAN CLAIMED THAT MY CAR WAS "UNSAFE TO DRIVE" AND LISTED EVERY OTHER PART OF MY SUSPENSION THAT NEEDED TO BE REPLACED OTHER THAN THE MAIN ONE IN THE RECALL. A SERVICE ORDER WAS CREATED THAT THE DEALERSHIP REFUSED TO GIVE ME WHEN THE SERVICE MANAGER LOST HIS TEMPER AND GOT PHYSICALLY INTIMIDATING TOWARDS ME. MY WIFE AND I ARE FRIGHTENED TO EVER GO TO THIS DEALERSHIP DUE TO THIS. NOW I AM DRIVING AN "UNSAFE TO DRIVE" VEHICLE THAT NISSAN LEFT ME WITHOUT ANY PAPERWORK TO ADVISE ME WHAT IS UNSAFE ABOUT IT. THIS, AND THE FACT THAT THE CORPORATION REFUSES TO HELP RESOLVE THIS, MAKES IT IMPOSSIBLE FOR US TO HAVE THE TAKATA RECALL WORK COMPLETED WITHOUT GOING THRU FURTHER STRESS WITH NISSAN AND LOCAL DEALERSHIPS. - Summary: CERTAIN EAGLE EYES HEADLAMP ASSEMBLIES, P/NOS. DS517-B001L AND DS517-B001R, SOLD FOR USE AS REPLACEMENT EQUIPMENT FOR THE ABOVE LISTED PASSENGER VEHICLES. THE OPTICEL SURFACE OF THE REFLECTOR IS CORRODED INHIBITING THE PERFORMANCE OF THE UPPER AND LOWER BEAMS WHICH FAILS TO CONFORM TO THE PHOTOMETRIC REQUIREMENTS OF FEDERAL MOTOR VEHICLE SAFETY STANDARD NO. 108, LAMPS, REFLECTIVE DEVICES, AND ASSOCIATED EQUIPMENT.

- Summary: ON CERTAIN PASSENGER VEHICLES EQUIPPED WITH A 2.5L ENGINE, THE CRANK ANGLE SENSOR IS AFFECTED BY TEMPERATURE VARIATIONS. UNDER CERTAIN DRIVING CONDITIONS, THESE VARIATIONS IN TEMPERATURE CAN BE LARGE ENOUGH TO CAUSE A BRIEF INTERRUPTION IN THE SIGNAL OUTPUT FROM THE SENSOR.
- Consequence: IF THE INTERRUPTION IN THE SIGNAL FROM THE SENSOR IS SO BRIEF THAT THE ELECTRONIC CONTROL MODULE (ECM) LOGIC DOES NOT HAVE TIME TO DIAGNOSE THE CONDITION, THE ENGINE MAY STOP RUNNING WITHOUT WARNING WHILE THE VEHICLE IS DRIVEN AT A LOW SPEED INCREASING THE RISK OF A CRASH.

I really love my Nissan! It makes me feel so safe because of its unique design (did you know it's made from one piece of steel, not many fused together?). I've never had any problems with it, and it even helped me avoid a wreck with a careless teenager. The price is much lower than its worth, and the value stays high. I'm sure anyone who buys one will love it too! I bought the 2.5, but I added all the features of the 3.5 and still saved some money!

I purchased the car used with 36,000 miles on it. The car feels solid and durable, and I have put it through its paces with 30,000 mostly highway miles per year. The only issue I have encountered is with the brakes, as the rotors do not seem to be well-built.

I really love this car! The interior has a unique style that reminds me of a motorcycle. Plus, the heated seats and steering wheel radio controls are unbeatable. It's amazing how it drives like a 6 cylinder despite only having 4. The pickup is also really good!

I've owned it for about 3 weeks now and I just love it! It's so much fun to drive and it's incredibly roomy. The mileage is also very good, getting 30-33 on the highway and 23+ in the city. The leather is of great quality and the Bose audio is simply awesome. It goes without saying that it's the sexiest looking car in its price-range.

I have had to have my car towed away twice due to starting issues, and unfortunately, I was never informed of the recalls, including one related to the engine. As a result, I have resorted to driving around with washable paint on my car, stating that it is a lemon with multiple recalls. Despite my attempts to trade it back, I have not received any satisfaction. I continue to drive it as is, parking it in the Trump Taj Mahal parking garage for five days a week where it is visible to everyone. Additionally, during my 45-minute drive to work, it is hard to miss. It is frustrating to have a brand new car that does not start.
