2016 Mazda Mazda6 problems
The Mazda6 (known as the Mazda Atenza in Japan, derived from the Italian attenzione) is a mid-size sedan produced by Mazda since 2002, replacing the long-produced Capella/626.
The Mazda6 was marketed as the first example of the company's "Stylish, Insightful and Spirited" design philosophy, followed by the Mazda2 in December 2002, the RX-8 in August 2003, the Mazda3 in January 2004, the Mazda5 in the summer of 2005, the MX-5 in October 2005, and the CX-7 in November 2006. The 2003 Mazda6 is essentially the seventh-generation Mazda 626, part of the 'G' model code family.
First generation (GG1; 2002)
The first-generation Mazda6 was launched in Japan as the Mazda Atenza in May 2002. The model lineup consisted of a four-door sedan, a four-door hatchback and a five-door wagon, marketed in North America as the "Sport Sedan", "5-Door" and "Sport Wagon", respectively. In Australia, the lineup was first available in Limited trim, as a sedan; in Classic trim as sedan, hatch or wagon and in Luxury trim as a sedan and liftback — and Luxury Sports trim, as a liftback. In New Zealand, the lineup consisted of 2.0L GLX (sedan only), 2.3L GSX (sedan, liftback, and wagon), and 2.3L Limited (sedan and liftback).
The first generation was marketed as a 2003 model in the United States and as a 2004 model in Canada. In Europe, the luxury sports model was available as a 120 hp (89 kW) direct injection turbodiesel ("DITD") estate up until 2007. As of 2008, the European Mazda catalog listed only the "Sport" version of the 146 hp (109 kW) turbodiesel estate, while the "Luxury Sport" version had been dropped.
Drivetrain combinations included the Mazda MZR engine in configurations of 1.8 L (L8-DE), 2.0 L (LF-VE) and 2.3 L (L3-VE), initially with a five-speed manual or four-speed automatic transmission (with a sequential-automatic option, dubbed the "Four-Speed Sport AT"). In the US domestic market a 3.0 L Duratec 30 V6 engine was also available with a five-speed manual or five-speed automatic (with a sequential-automatic option, dubbed the "5-Speed Sport AT"). European and Australian versions also feature a four-cylinder turbodiesel that comes with a six-speed manual transmission and produces significantly more torque than the V6, with much improved fuel economy.
In North America, the 5-speed automatic optional on the V6 models were replaced by an Aisin 6-speed automatic for the 2005 model year. The four-cylinder model received a Jatco five-speed automatic in the following year. Power was directed to the front wheels in most markets, although full-time all-wheel-drive models were available in Japan, Europe, and Australia. Not all configurations were available in all areas – for example, the Mazda 6 as released in Australia was available in 2.3L four-cylinder guise only, when the 626 it replaced had been available with a choice of four- or six-cylinder engines. The MZI V6 engine was only fitted to vehicles manufactured at Mazda's Flat Rock Assembly Plant and destined for the U.S. and Canadian domestic markets.
Mazda's Hofu Plant in Yamaguchi Prefecture produced the Mazda6 for international markets from February 2002 to August 2007. In North America, Mazda6 production was handled at the AutoAlliance International plant in Flat Rock, Michigan. The first Mazda6 rolled off the AAI assembly line on October 1, 2002, one month after 626 production ended. There are also satellite plants building Mazda6 models in China and Thailand for local markets.
In September 2005, the Mazda6 received a facelift which introduced 5-speed auto and 6-speed manual transmissions, standard 16- or 17-inch alloy wheels, and minor bodywork upgrades.
In China, the Mazda6 was introduced by FAW Mazda in 2003. Despite the release of its successors, the first generation car, known locally as the Maliu (马六, "Horse 6"), continues to be manufactured at FAW's Changchun plant, having sold over 770,000 units as of 2014. This model is also used as the base for the FAW Benteng, also known as Besturn B70 or Hongqi C301.

Common 2016 Mazda Mazda6 problems
The Mazda6 2016 has been reported to have several common problems based on complaints from owners. Here are some of the issues in detail:
- Boot struts: Mazda issued a recall in early 2017 for boot struts that could fail due to water ingress. This affected 6 Tourers built from the start of production up to 2 April 2015. You can find out whether your car has had this work carried out by contacting your local Mazda dealership.
- Brake discs: The Mazda6 2016 can be quite hard on its brake discs, which can lead to vibration under braking. If you detect this on a test drive, it will need a new set of brake discs and pads to sort.
- Satellite navigation system: The live traffic service provided by the TomTom satellite navigation system has a few issues, with some owners reporting that it doesn’t seem to work all the time.
- Diesel particulate filter system: On diesel models, it's worth keeping in mind that the particulate filter system can cause problems, especially if you accidentally shut it off part-way through its regeneration cycle. The result is contamination of the oil system with fuel, which results in the oil level rising gradually over time. If this is happening, some damage to the engine may already have been done, so it’s worth getting the car checked out.
- Driver's airbag: Continued exposure to high levels of absolute humidity may cause the driver’s front airbag inflator housing to rupture and deploy abnormally in the event of a crash necessitating deployment of the driver’s front airbag. Should the inflator rupture it could result in metal fragments striking the driver or other vehicle occupants. On affected vehicles replace airbag inflator.
- Stalling engine: There are two recalls that relate to the possibility of the engine stalling. The first is for a problem with the engine not restarting after the start-stop system has engaged on cars made between 30 October 2013 and 28 February 2014 and will require a software update at the dealer to solve the problem. The second is for another software issue, but with the fuel injection system on examples built from 26 January 2012 to 21 January 2016. Again, you will need to go to a Mazda dealer to have the software updated in order to prevent future issues.
- Vacuum pump: The vacuum pump that works as part of the braking system could wear out on examples made from 26 January 2012 to 21 January 2016 and could result in reduced braking assistance. If your Mazda 6 is affected by this, it will need to have a new pump fitted.
- Soot build-up: A soot build-up in the intake shutter valve in the engine could cause problems on models made from 26 January 2012 to 30 June 2018. Contact a Mazda dealer to find out if this applies to your car, because the valve will need to be cleaned out and a software update performed to prevent this from recurring.
- Fuel injectors: The fuel injectors on some examples that were made between 26 January 2012 and 21 January 2016 might not have been tightened down correctly. Any Mazda dealer will be able to tell you if your car is affected by this and will check the tightness of the injectors for you if it is.
- Fire: There is a small possibility of a vehicle fire due to an issue with the DC-DC converter that forms part of the engine start-stop system. It only applies to early cars manufactured between 31 July 2012 and 3 March 2013, so speak to a Mazda dealer to find out if this applies to your example, because it will need a new DC-DC unit.
- Corrosion on the parking brake assembly: Corrosion on the parking brake assembly of cars built from 31 July 2012 to 18 November 2014 could affect the operation of it and result in not enough force being applied to the brakes, potentially leading to the car rolling away. Find out from a Mazda dealer if your example is affected by this, because it will need to be inspected if it is.
- Thin paint: The paint is thin and tends to chip easily. This is not a safety issue but can affect the car's appearance and value.
- Auto hold: Auto hold was made available for the 2017s.
- Heated steering wheel: The 2017 GT has a heated steering wheel, while the 2016 doesn't.
- Engine temperature gauge: The 2017 includes an engine temperature gauge on the dash display, while the 2016 only has a warning light for the engine temp.
It's important to note that not all Mazda6 2016 models will have these issues, and some problems may have been addressed under warranty or through recalls. However, potential buyers should be aware of these common problems and consider getting a pre-purchase inspection to check for any issues specific to the car they are considering.

- VIN: JM1GJ1T52G1
- Components: UNKNOWN OR OTHER
- Summary: Moonroof explosion Moonroof had spontaneous explosion while driving on highway. No objects were seen flying towards front of car prior to explosion. Driver and 1 passenger in front seat. VEHICLE SPEED CONTROL,FORWARD COLLISION AVOIDANCE PROBLEM
- Date Of Incident: 2024-05-22
- VIN: JM1GJ1W50G1
- Components: VEHICLE SPEED CONTROL,FORWARD COLLISION AVOIDANCE
- Summary: When driving, after a period of 10 - 20 minutes usually, of the adaptive cruise being on (not necessarily in use), the buttons on the steering wheel will re-map. That is, the + button for adjusting the cruise speed up by 1 mph increments will switch with the - button that adjusts the cruise speed down by 1 mph increments. This happens reliably... if I've driven the car with adaptive cruise on for more that 10 - 20 minutes, the buttons will re-map. + slows the car down or doesn't work at all (does nothing). - speeds the car up. Also, rarely, the cancel button will speed the car up. Often the cancel button will not work and the only way to disengage the adaptive cruise is to tap on the brake pedal. Less frequently--maybe about 1/3 - 1/2 of the time, the "off" button, which turns the adaptive cruise off entirely, will not work. Note, that this is not the "engage" or "enable" button. These are the buttons that just turn on and off the adaptive cruise and show that it is now ready to be set if on. I discussed this with the dealer. I believe it is a software problem, they cannot find a software problem as they patched the software in the car up to the latest version. They want to replace the steering wheel where the switches are. This is a $750 repair. (I'm not sure if it's the whole steering wheel or the switch cluster on the wheel.) I cannot afford it and I'm not convinced it will work. I believe they are just guessing at a solution. Nothing to my knowledge has ever spilled on the steering wheel to potentially damage the switchgear. Also, this, to me, does not explain how it always works correctly for the first 10 - 20 minutes of driving, then fails reliably after that. This problem has existed for over two years. Since the car has had about 100,000 miles on it.
ENGINE PROBLEM
- Date Of Incident: 2023-11-30
- VIN: JM1GJ1W51G1
- Components: ENGINE
- Summary: There is a bearing in the crankshaft that looks like it’s not up to spec. No warning lights came on, car suddenly lost power on the highway. Fortunately no one was injured though it was a very scary situation. Mechanic took a look inside the engine and said a main bearing stud broke off and busted a hole through the short block. He said I’m lucky the engine didn’t turn into a grenade. Upon looking up the failure many other people have had the same issue with this engine. The exact same failure on the exact same bolt. Here are some links to some posts: [XXX] [XXX] [XXX] [XXX] Clearly I’m not the only one with this issue, and there are more examples of the same problem that you can find online through out different Mazda models that use the same engine. I can definitely have the vehicle inspected if needed, my mechanic took video of the damage as well. I could only imagine if this happened while there was more traffic on the road, it’s not safe. And the fact I can find more examples means there are probably more that never posted or reported the issue. the vehicle has less than 100k miles which a lot of the examples have the same issue at less than 100k INFORMATION REDACTED PURSUANT TO THE FREEDOM OF INFORMATION ACT (FOIA), 5 U.S.C. 552(B)(6)

Even when doing this the car does not slow down at the rate expected and stopping distance has increased by more than 50 percent. Have been told there is Cracked/leaking bore diameter to the master brake cylinder housing is causing pressure and fluid loss, into other internal parts of the braking system. Not visible externally. Mechanic states that they have encountered this problem with several of this year make and model with this exact issue. The shop was able to top off the brake fluid which slightly improved performance but the issue still remains. Car is at 104K miles.

ELECTRICAL SYSTEM PROBLEM
- Date Of Incident: 2021-08-30
- VIN: JM1GJ1V56G1
- Components: ELECTRICAL SYSTEM
- Summary: The vehicle infotainment system in this 2016 Mazda 6 no longer works and has what is called a rolling reboot. This seems a common problem with Mazda's based on a service alert SA-011/20 as well as a TSB 09-020/18. When broken I can't use the hands free to make or receive calls, nor can I modify preferences, service warnings, use the radio etc. The car is out of warranty and the part known as a connectivity master unit (CMU) is over $1000 including tax. I think Mazda should at least provide a replacement part for this very common problem, which effects many models.
STRUCTURE,WHEELS,UNKNOWN OR OTHER PROBLEM
- Date Of Incident: 2021-04-16
- VIN: JM1GJ1W58G1
- Components: STRUCTURE,WHEELS,UNKNOWN OR OTHER
- Summary: WATER LEAK IN TRUNK AREA LEADING TO ABOUT A 2-INCH PUDDLE OF WATER ACCUMULATION INSIDE THE TRUNK AT THE LOCATION OF THE SPARE TIRE AREA. ISSUE WAS NOTICED ON APRIL 16, 2021. THE WATER ACCUMULATED ON TOP AND AT THE BOTTOM OF THE SPARE TIRE. THE PARTS OF THE VEHICLE ARE BEGINNING TO BE NEGATIVELY AFFECTED --MOLD, ETC. THERE WERE ITEMS STORED AROUND THE SPARE TIRE 'E.G. FLAT TIRE REPAIR KIT, EMERGENCY BLANKET, ETC. THAT DEVELOPED MOLD DUE TO THE ACCUMULATED WATER AND WERE THROWN AWAY UPON INSPECTION. IN ADDITION TO THE SPARE TIRE AREA ACCUMULATING SEVERAL INCHES OF WATER, THE SPARE THE COVER (I.E.PLASTIC HONEYCOMB TYPE THAT SITS DIRECTLY ON TOP OF THE SPARE TIRE) IS AFFECTED WITH THE EVAPORATION/CONDENSATION OF THE ACCUMULATED WATER. ALL OTHER PARTS OF THE TRUNK AND VEHICLE ARE WERE NOT WET TO THE TOUCH. THE SOURCE OF THE WATER IS UNKNOWN. AND IT WAS NOT A USER ERROR TYPE OF ISSUE 'THE VEHICLE HAS BEEN STORED WITH ALL WINDOWS, DOORS, TRUNK, AND HOOD CLOSED. CONCERN IS THAT THE ACCUMULATION OF WATER WILL LEAD TO THE DEVELOPMENT OF MOLD INSIDE THE VEHICLE AND AN UNHEALTHY ENVIRONMENT FOR THE DRIVER AND PASSENGERS OCCUPYING THE CAR. ADDITIONALLY, IT WILL LEAD TO VEHICLE CORROSION SINCE THE AREA WHERE THE WATER ACCUMULATES IS NOT INTENDED TO BE CONSISTENTLY HOLDING WATER. ATTACHED ARE SEVERAL PHOTOS SHOWING THE AFFECTED AREA. NOTE THAT THE PHOTOS ONLY SHOW THE ACCUMULATED WATER THAT WAS UNDERNEATH THE SPARE TIRE AFTER THE WATER ACCUMULATED ON TOP OF THE SPARE TIRE (INNER SECTION OF THE SPARE TIRE METAL WHEEL WHICH LAYS UP WHEN STORED IN THE VEHICLE'S TRUNK), CLOSE TO 2-INCHES WORTH, WAS REMOVED ALONG WITH THE SPARE TIRE ITSELF. I DID NOT THINK OF TAKING PHOTOS OF THE ISSUE UNTIL AFTER I REMOVED THE SPARE TIRE AND THE ACCUMULATED WATER. PLEASE LOOK INTO THE MATTER AND CONSIDER ISSUING A RECALL THAT WOULD ALLOW MAZDA TO CORRECT THE PROBLEM.THANK YOU.

I TOOK IT TO THE DEALER AND THEY TOLD ME IT WOULD BE 1500 DOLLARS. I SEE A LOT OF PEOPLE WITH THIS PROBLEM IN MY RESEARCH. I THINK THIS SHOULD BE A RECALL BECAUSE IT IS A SAFETY ISSUE SINCE I CANNOT ACCESS MY CAR SETTINGS, MY CAMERA IS NOT WORKING AND MY ALERT FOR WHEN SOMEONE IS BEHIND ME IS ALSO NOT WORKING. I HAVE A VIDEO OF THE REBOOT. IT IS ALSO VERY DISTRACTING TO BE DRIVING WITH A COMPUTER THAT IS CONSTANTLY REBOOTING. THE SYSTEM IS REBOOTING WHEN THE CAR IS ON, WHILE DRIVING AND WHILE SITTING STILL. I REACHED OUT TO MAZDA WHO SAID IT IS NOT A RECALL YET BUT IF I PAID FOR THE FIX AND THEY DID CALL A RECALL I WOULD GET REIMBURSED. A 1500 DOLLAR FIX FOR RADIO IS RIDICULOUS AND A CAR THAT IS ONLY 4 YEARS OLD. THE COMPUTER MALFUNCTIONED IS MY ONLY GUESS AND THEY SHOULD HAVE TO REPLACE IT SINCE IT IS A SAFETY ISSUE AND MULTIPLE PEOPLE ARE HAVING THE SAME ISSUE. PLEASE HELP. I HAVE A SAFETY INSPECTION DUE AT THE END OF THIS MONTH AND IM NOT SURE IT WILL PASS.

- Summary: I WAS BRAKING TO A STOP AFTER DECELLERATING, DRIVING ORIGINALLY ABOUT 45 MPH. TRAFFIC WAS STOPPED IN FRONT OF ME. I WAS IN MOTION ON A HIGHWAY, GOING STRAIGHT AHEAD. MY CAR SLOWED BUT RESISTED STOPPING. I PRESSED ON THE BRAKE PEDAL HARDER UNTIL I CAME TO A COMPLETE STOP. MY RIGHT FOOT WAS ENTIRELY ON THE BRAKE, AS I ONLY USE MY RIGHT FOOT TO OPERATE THE PEDALS. THE ENGINE WAS REVVING LIKE IT WAS ACCELLERATING. THE CAR WAS IN DRIVE. NO WARNING LIGHTS CAME ON THE DASH. THE ENGINE CONTINUED TO REV HIGHER IN INTENSITY. I PUT THE CAR INTO PARK, AND THE ENGINE REVVED MUCH HIGHER. I PUSHED THE START/STOP BUTTON TO TURN OFF THE CAR. THE WARNING LIGHTS CAME ON THE DASH. I WAS ABLE TO ROLL DOWN THE POWER WINDOW EVEN THOUGH THE CAR WAS TURNED OFF. I TRIED TO RESTART THE CAR AFTER ABOUT A MINUTE. THE STARTER ENGAGED, BUT THE CAR DID NOT START. I TRIED TWICE AGAIN AND IT DID THE SAME THING. I TRIED A FOURTH TIME AND IT REACTED AS IF THE BATTERY WAS ALMOST DEAD, SOME SOUND BUT NO MOVEMENT. I COULDN'T PUT THE CAR IN NEUTRAL TO HAVE THE ATTENDING POLICE OFFICER PUSH IT OUT OF THE LANE OF TRAFFIC, AND WE NOTICED THE EMERGENCY BRAKE WAS ENGAGED. I DID NOT ENGAGE THE EMERGENCY BRAKE MYSELF! MY HUSBAND ARRIVED, AND HE AND THE OFFICER WERE ABLE TO PUT THE CAR IN NEUTRAL, HOWEVER, THEY WERE UNABLE TO DISENGAGE THE EMERGENCY BRAKE. THE CAR HAD TO BE LOADED ONTO A ROLL-OFF WRECKER TO BE TAKEN TO THE DEALERSHIP.

TO MY SURPRISE THE AIRBAGS DID NOT DEPLOY (PARTICULARLY MY SIDE AIRBAGS). LATER I LEARNED THAT MAZDA (MANUFACTURE) REPORTED A RECALL FOR MY VEHICLE RELATING TO A POTENTIAL MALFUNCTION OF SIDE AIRBAGS. UPON MY DISCOVERY I LEARNED THAT MAZDA HAD LEARNED OF THE DEFECT AROUND AUGUST 2019, BUT HAD NOT ISSUED A RECALL NOTICE ON THEIR WEBSITE UNTIL JANUARY 1ST 2020. MY ACCIDENT TOOK PLACE DEC 4TH 2019, AND I SHOULD ALSO ADD THAT AS OF YET MAZDA STILL HAS NOT MADE ANY DIRECT ATTEMPTS (EMAIL, MAIL, PHONE) TO NOTIFY ME OF THE POTENTIAL HAZARD. HAD IT NOT BEEN FOR MY OWN INQUIRIES I STILL MAY HAVE NOT KNOWN THAT THERE WAS A SAFETY ISSUE WITHIN MY VEHICLE ESPECIALLY WHEN I NEEDED IT THE MOST. I DON'T WANT TO COME OFF AS BEING DRAMATIC BUT THAT ACCIDENT I WAS INVOLVED IN COULD OF COST MY WIFE AND I OUR LIVES. FOR THAT REASON I AM SEEKING TO RETRIEVE THE EVENT DATA RECORDS (EDR) OF MY VEHICLE SO THAT I MAY DETERMINE IF THE AIRBAGS FAILED TO DEPLOY AS NOTED AS A POTENTIAL HAZARD OR IF THE IMPACT AND DAMAGES WHERE SIMPLY NOT SUBSTANTIAL ENOUGH TO CAUSE THE AIRBAGS TO DEPLOY. I ASKED MY INSURANCE COMPANY IF THEY COULD ASSIST ME IN GATHERING THAT DATA WHICH THEY FIRST CLAIMED TO BE POSSIBLE, BUT SHORTLY AFTER I WAS INFORMED THAT THEY DID NOT HAVE THE SOPHISTICATION TO DO SO, HENCE FORWARDING ME TO THIS WEBSITE. PLEASE ADVISE ON HOW I MAY RETRIEVE THAT INFORMATION, ANY HELP WOULD BE GREATLY APPRECIATED. THANK YOU.

I've been driving this car for several months now and I must say, I'm really pleased with its performance. As a driving enthusiast, I was looking for a midsize sedan with a well-engineered manual transmission, which is not an easy find these days. I'm not a fan of CVT transmissions as they tend to be unresponsive and the fake shift points can be quite annoying. However, this car delivers the goods with a real 6-speed manual transmission that is very well thought out and extremely fun to drive. The car handles well, accelerates adequately and is quite comfortable. The seating position is critical when you have a manual transmission, and the 6-speed offers excellent positioning. It took me a while to find the best seating position, but with all the different controls on the power driver's seat, I finally found my sweet spot. The transmission works extremely well, and you can tell that Mazda did their homework and engineered a fantastic six-speed box, even though they know that not many Americans will choose the manual. It's great that this car is offered internationally in countries where people still seek out and buy manuals. I'm surprised to see others on this site getting mileage in the mid-30s as I average about 25mpg. However, I do live in an urban area and do a lot of city driving, so that could be one reason why. I love the dual exhaust and the resulting growl you get from it when accelerating. You won't get that with an Accord or Camry. The car has been extremely reliable so far, and I have over 6000 miles on it already, all trouble-free. Inside the car, the dual-zone climate control works flawlessly, and the stereo is pretty good, though not excellent. The driver's seat takes some getting used to as it has aggressive thigh and side bolsters that you would expect in a sports car but not a mid-size sedan. However, once you get used to them, they are extremely comfortable and supportive.I'm not sure if people who are on the heavier side will find the seats comfortable. A friend of mine, who is 5'7So, despite a few electronic glitches, I absolutely love this car! As someone who has owned over 20 cars in the last 30 years, I can confidently say that this car is one of my favorites. It's a great car! I really appreciate the fact that it was assembled in Hiroshima, Japan. In my opinion, Japanese cars that are engineered and built on the continent are the best examples of what Japan has to offer in the automotive world. Call me a purist, but if you're looking for a midsize sedan that is different and a little quirky compared to the bread and butter Camry, Accord, Altima, and Fusion, do yourself a favor and test drive a 6. You may very well be pleasantly surprised!

Preface: I travel frequently and rent cars every month. Over the years, I have driven a range of cars from Cadillacs to the 600 to a new Camry. They are all great cars, but nothing compares to my 2016.5 Mazda6 Grand Touring that I purchased 22 months ago. Saying the car is impressive is an understatement. My vehicle came standard with all the upgrades a GT brings (19The infotainment system could use an update to make it more user-friendly with better graphics, but overall, the car is reliable and easy to maintain. The Dunlop tires that come stock on the 19-inch wheels are a bit loud and expensive, but they offer great handling and wet traction. The dealership maintenance is also affordable. The Mazda6 is known for its reliability, and this car is no exception. With original brake pads and battery still intact, it has proven to be a 5/5 in terms of reliability. The heads-up display is a nice feature, but it could have had more functionality and options. The car's ride is decent, although the high-performance tires make every bump noticeable on Houston's notoriously bad roads. The MPG is not as good as expected, but it's still decent for a car with 174 hp. The resale value is not great, but that shouldn't deter anyone from buying this underrated car. Overall, it's a 4/5 car and my personal favorite out of the 16 cars I've owned. I highly recommend test driving one for yourself! The only issue I've had with my 2016 M6 GT are the rims. When they were new, they looked beautiful, but within 12 months or so, they would lose their clear and the paint would just fall off. This happened twice on two sets of rims, so I don't know what causes that. However, Mazda South refinished all four rims in 7/19, and since then, I haven't had any issues with them. In fact, I ended up having all four diamond coated in black metallic since the car was out of its warranty and the paint flaked off for the third time. Everyone (but me) likes the black diamond coat better. I've owned Toyota, Honda, and two Mazdas, and it's still my honest opinion that a Mazda is an underrated value for the money. I've gotten much better overall customer care from the dealership as well as Mazda of North America about stitching that came apart from my driver seat - it was covered! My Mazda is hands down 10 times the car my Accord was, and if I didn't live in flood-prone Houston, I would get another. However, I will move to the CX line due to this, which breaks my heart.

I'm so glad to hear that you're enjoying your Mazda! It's such a great car and it's surprising that more people haven't discovered it yet. Even with just under 1000 miles, you're already getting an impressive 32mpg. Plus, it's definitely the best looking mid-size car on the road. You made a great choice and got an amazing value for the price. After months of research, it's great to see that you're happy with your decision.

I hope you're doing well! I wanted to share my experience with my Soul Red Metallic 2016 Mazda 6 I Touring. I have been driving it for six months now and I must say, I am thoroughly enjoying it! The Soul Red paint is absolutely gorgeous and really emphasizes the sporty sheet metal. The car looks great from any angle! The interior is very well done and the fit and finish is tight with every element blending together handsomely. The leatherette seats are quite comfortable and provide very good support and comfort. Although it took me a while to get used to the Commander Control, after learning how to use the control knob and associated buttons, I like the system except for tuning to radio stations. Contrary to most reviews, I do not find that the P255/45 R19 tires give the Mazda 6 a harsh ride. And those tires have provided great grip and traction on both dry and wet pavement. Yes, the pavement imperfections will be more noticeable than in a Camry, but that is part of the driving experience that makes a Mazda a Mazda. The steering allows the driver to feel the road and helps to make for a satisfying driving experience. Even with the black interior, the A/C has been up to the task of quickly making the interior comfortable on the many 95+ degree days of this summer. Overall, I am very much pleased with this car and six months later, I still hold true to all of the above. I still find the Mazda 6 to be a fun car to drive and to date am very pleased with my decision to purchase this fun, sporty car.

I wanted to provide an update to my previous review: I ended up selling the car. While my previous review still stands, I must admit that I never found the car to be particularly enjoyable to drive. The power/gas mileage trade-off really takes away from the fun factor, and the handling is only average at best. After a year and a half without the car, I can honestly say that I don't miss it at all. As a big Mazda fan, it's unfortunate to say that the new Toyota Camry is actually more fun to drive than the Mazda 6. (I had a 2018 Camry rental car for a week.) That being said, the 2016 Mazda 6 GT is still a fantastic car, with only a few features missing that would make it equal to any Audi, BMW, or Mercedes. Here are some of the things I love about it: 1) It's one of the most beautiful cars out there. 2) The interior (2016+) is on par with or even better than luxury brands. 3) The gas mileage is phenomenal. 4) The build quality is top-notch - the best of any car I've ever owned. 5) The adaptive LED headlights are absolutely amazing! I can't imagine ever owning another car without them.

I have experienced repeated brake issues with my car, which have been covered under warranty. However, despite my efforts to resolve the problem, it has persisted. Unfortunately, the resale value of the car is lower than expected, making it difficult to recoup my investment. While I have been a loyal Mazda 6 customer for over a decade, I am disappointed with the gas mileage of my latest purchase. Additionally, the climate control system could be improved to allow for better air circulation. Finally, changing the radio station requires a few extra steps. Overall, I believe that these issues could be addressed to improve the driving experience for Mazda 6 customers.
