- Summary: Mazda North American Operations (Mazda) is recalling certain 2011 Mazda2 and 2010-2011 Mazda3 and Mazdaspeed3 vehicles equipped with a manual seat lifter. In the affected vehicles, the seat height adjustment lifter links may break or detach from the seat frame and the seat angle may incline causing the driver to not be able to maintain an appropriate driving position.
- Consequence: If the driver cannot maintain an appropriate driving position, there is an increased risk of a crash.
- Remedy: Mazda will notify owners, and dealers will inspect the seat lifter links and install a reinforcement bracket to the lifter links, or replace the entire seat adjuster unit, free of charge. The recall began April 7, 2017. Owners may contact Mazda customer service at 1-800-222-5500. Mazda's number for this recall is 0917B.

It was surprisingly spacious and even accommodated my large international-traveler suitcase in the back. The car seemed to be well-built, and the doors had a satisfying 'thunk' when closing. It's worth noting that my family has had no reliability issues with the car.

I just purchased the car tonight from a dealer who just received delivery of them on Saturday. I bought it for my wife, and she loves the look and color. We chose the green one. It's so sporty and nimble that she loves driving it, and I love the way it makes her feel. So far, everything is good. I have a 2011 Mazda 2 Touring with 51k miles. I just retired my Mazda Protege with 300k miles on it. The Protege had a 1.5-liter engine with only 90hp, while the Mazda 2 also has a 1.5-liter engine. Have you ever gone to see the Christmas lights and found that you can't turn off your headlamps? Well, the Mazda 2 doesn't have daytime running lamps. It also has a self-adjusting timing chain instead of a timing belt, which saves you around $500 to $600 every 60k miles that you have to change on most imports. As someone who works at a big dealership and gets to drive every make and model, I can say with certainty that this Mazda is the most fun car out there. The 5-speed transmission is smooth, and the engine isn't loud. So what if it only has 100hp? That's an upgrade for me from the 90hp I had for many years. Update: as of February 2016, my Mazda now has 77,000 miles and is still running great. I need to correct the fuel mileage that I previously wrote in my review. The car is averaging about 35 combined and can get a little better on the highway if it's babied like a Sunday driver. Overall, I have no complaints with the car as it's a great car all around.

I read a lot about this car before the purchase and I found the following to be true: The car handles very well, but does have some roll. The steering and brakes are great and the engine has enough pep for me. I had a Yaris prior to this car and I find this an all-around better vehicle.

I commute about 100 miles per day. I was looking for an economical yet fun car. I decided on the Mazda 2 w/5sp based on reviews, and past experience with Mazda products. This car is comfortable, responsive and economical. My commute is 60% highway, 40% local and I have been averaging 38-40mpg. I highly recommend it!

Hi there! I hope you're doing well. I wanted to share my experience with my cars. I had a 2002 Protege5 for nine years, which was the longest I've ever had a car. I really enjoyed it and it still looked good, but I was ready for a change, so I decided to buy the 2011 Mazda 2 hatchback. Unfortunately, it hasn't been the best fit for me. It's a bit too light and skips all over the road, and the trunk and back seat are too small. The fuel economy hasn't been great either, but I'm hoping to trade it in before any major issues arise. Despite these challenges, I've only put 12K miles on it and have taken two round trips, each less than 1000 miles. I'm actually planning another 800 mile round trip in two weeks! I'm a bit disappointed that the 2011 model hasn't lived up to my expectations, especially compared to my trusty 2002 Protege5. Thanks for listening!

My wife and I were in the market for a smaller car with better gas mileage than our 96 Maxima. We considered several options, including the Toyota Yaris, Prius C, Honda Fit, Nissan Versa, Mazda 2, Ford Fiesta, and Chevy Sonic. Ultimately, we chose the Mazda 2 because it and the Fit were the only two assembled in Japan, and I value Japanese quality. While we've only had the car for 5 weeks and I'm not thrilled with the dealership, I'm hopeful that things will improve. I did experience some discomfort after a 2-hour drive, but I understand that it's not a car designed for long road trips. Additionally, the gas mileage hasn't quite lived up to the advertised numbers, but I've always gotten better mileage than the window sticker suggests.

I purchased my 2011 Mazda 2 brand new in November 2010 and initially wrote a glowing review about how fun it is to drive. However, I have had some issues with it, especially with the brakes, since hitting 15k miles. The dealer tells me that the brakes are safe and that the squeaking is due to the brake pad composition, but it's still embarrassing when it squeaks at both low and high speeds. Additionally, I had to flush the transmission at 20k miles because the fluid it comes with is cheap junk. Despite these issues, I have decided to trade it in for a Honda Fit this weekend. As a buyer, I have decided to avoid Mazdas in the future. I would recommend considering a car with a better warranty and saving your money for a bigger payment.
