1995 Lincoln Town car problems
The Lincoln Town Car is a model line of full-size luxury sedans that was marketed by the Lincoln division of the American automaker Ford Motor Company. Deriving its name from a limousine body style, Lincoln marketed the Town Car from 1981 to 2011, with the nameplate previously serving as the flagship trim of the Lincoln Continental. Produced across three generations for thirty model years, the Town Car was marketed directly against luxury sedans from Cadillac and Chrysler.
Marketed nearly exclusively as a four-door sedan (a two-door sedan was offered for 1981 only), many examples of the Town Car were used for fleet and livery (limousine) service. From 1983 to its 2011 discontinuation, the Town Car was the longest car produced by Ford worldwide, becoming the longest mass-production car sold in North America from 1997 to 2011. While not a direct successor of the Town Car, the Lincoln MKS would become the longest American sedan until 2016 (overtaken by the Cadillac CT6).
From 1980 until 2007, the Lincoln Town Car was assembled in Wixom, Michigan, (Wixom Assembly) alongside the Lincoln Continental, LS, and Mark VI, VII, and VIII. After Wixom's closure, Town Car production moved to Southwold, Ontario, (St. Thomas Assembly) alongside the similar Ford Crown Victoria and the Mercury Grand Marquis. The final Lincoln Town Car was produced on August 29, 2011.
Within the Lincoln model line, the Town Car was not directly replaced; the nameplate was used from 2012 to 2019 to denote livery/limousine/hearse variants of the Lincoln MKT. For 2017, the revived Continental replaced the MKS, closely matching the Town Car in wheelbase and width.

1995 Lincoln Town car recalls
The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) has issued 9 recalls for different components of the 1995 Lincoln Town car.
- Manufacturer: Dorman Products, Inc.
- Components: STEERING
- Summary: Dorman Products, Inc. (Dorman) is recalling certain model Dorman Steering Shafts, part number 425-359, Solutions Steering Shafts, part number 7-0359, and OE Solutions Steering Shafts, part number 425-359, manufactured April 17, 2014, to September 28, 2015. These aftermarket replacement steering shafts are sold for use in 1995-2002 Ford Crown Victoria, Mercury Grand Marquis, and Lincoln Town Car vehicles. These steering shafts may separate during operation if the integral fastener is loose or missing and if the interfacing vehicle shaft is compressed in length.
- Consequence: If the shafts separate during vehicle operation, a loss of steering control would result, increasing the risk of a vehicle crash.
- Remedy: Dorman will notify owners, and dealers will replace the steering shaft, free of charge. The recall began on October 28, 2015. Owners may contact Dorman customer service at 1-800-523-2492, option 5.

- Consequence: THIS COULD RESULT IN AN UNDERHOOD FIRE.
- Remedy: DEALERS WILL INSTALL A FUSED WIRING HARNESS. OWNERS OF THE PASSENGER CARS INCLUDED IN THIS CAMPAIGN WILL BE INSTRUCTED TO RETURN THEIR VEHICLES TO THEIR DEALERS TO HAVE THE SPEED CONTROL DEACTIVATION SWITCH DISCONNECTED AS AN INTERIM REPAIR. AS SOON AS REPAIR PARTS ARE AVAILABLE (EXPECTED OCTOBER 2007), OWNERS WILL BE INSTRUCTED TO RETURN TO THE DEALERS FOR INSTALLATION OF A FUSED WIRING HARNESS. It sounds like you have a great car! From your description, it seems to ride similarly to your Lexus 2013 ES 350.

I have always wanted a luxury car and after looking at every American and import, I finally got my 95 Town Car from a dealership. Although I may have paid too much, it was still a lot less than any new car. The Town Car was in immaculate condition with only 62k original miles and had been garaged, making the exterior and interior look like new. The car rides and drives like a dream with its gorgeous red leather interior and performance white exterior. Before purchasing, I read a review from EDMUNDS.COM and it was very helpful. After getting the car, we took a road trip to New Mexico and were pleasantly surprised to average 28mpg for a V-8, especially while driving at 85-95mph.

The interior and trunk room are fantastic! The performance is very good, especially considering the engine size (4.6L V-8) and weight. These cars can be found in good condition for well under $10,000 since most of the previous owners were older and took great care of their vehicles. Only Mobil One synthetic oil is used every 5000 miles. It is easy to drive. The only issues are that the transmission thunks slightly when shifting into overdrive (a fluid change may help?) and the driver side window does not work. Overall, not bad for an 8-year-old American car.

I really enjoy used cars and the 1995 Town Car is a great choice. I have only had to replace the usual wear items such as tires and oil, but overall it has been a fantastic purchase. This particular year of Lincoln has a newer dash and interior which is a nice touch. I purchased this car two years ago for $5200 and it has been one of the best used cars I have ever owned. With 90,000 miles on it, there are no leaks under the car. If you are able to find the Signature or Cartier models, I highly recommend them. As someone who is 6'2', I can attest to the fact that there is plenty of room in this car without having to put the seat all the way back. Thank you for considering this great option!

Hi there! I noticed that you're interested in the bulletproof car you mentioned. I just wanted to let you know that while the engine parts may be cheap, it can be a bit difficult to find interior parts. However, you can find grilles and other obscure parts if you need them. My car has 160k miles on it and I've noticed that the horn is giving out and the e-brake fell apart. It definitely needs some love and attention, but it's easy to give it the care it needs. One major issue I've noticed is that the electronic brake control in snow is not the best and can make the brakes feel unusable. It's definitely not a great feeling when you're sliding around! Let me know if you have any other questions or concerns.
