Engine would no longer crank, and car had to be towed to nearest Lexus Certified Repair Facility. Technician scanned the system and found four Codes: P0335, P1603, P1604, P1605. After bore-scoping front three cylinders, technician tried to turn motor by hand and was unable to. The motor turned in reverse, but not forward. Technician removed oil pan to find pieces of valve spring broken and pieces of the piston rings and piston fragments from one of the rear three cylinders. Motor will need to be replaced or completely rebuilt after only 133,458 miles and regular servicing.

The Electronic Steering Motor has an internal 3 piece star-shaped green plastic gear in between two metal pieces used as a bushing/damper. That green plastic gear has become dry, hard, dehydrated, and has crumbled inside the electronic power steering motor. Diagnostic indicators include rattling and vibrations emanating from the steering column that sounds like something is broken inside the steering assembly. Which it apparently is. Moreover, I am particularly concerned about the implications of this denial. The faulty component in the electronic power steering system poses a significant risk, including the potential for complete loss of steering control. This not only jeopardizes my safety but could also lead to further damage to my vehicle or even bodily injury. Given these circumstances, I believe it is imperative that this matter be addressed with urgency.

- Summary: One early morning in November, I opened the rear door on my RX to remove my rollator walker. I am handicapped. I opened the door using the switch under the door handle. The door opened normally, and I reached in to remove the rollator and the door jerked down about a foot then continued to close with several jerking drops. It scared me, but I was able to jump out of the way of the door as it dropped. The temperature that morning was in the lower 40’s which was perhaps the lowest early morning temperature we had seen this fall. I feel that the low temperature may have contributed to the problem. I opened the door again with the switch. The door opened fully but closed again in a similar manner as described above. I was able to hold the door up with one hand and removed my rollator with the other, which was rather difficult due to my limited strength. Later in the day, after the temperature rose, the door opened and stayed open as it should. I discussed the problem with my local Lexus dealer, and they felt that the problem was most likely due to worn shocks which are used to hold the door open. I am familiar with this problem. I owned a 2002 Lexus RX and had a similar rear door shock problem after about 175,000 miles on the car. The rear door on that car was manually operated. If the door didn’t stay up on a manually operated door it was more of a poor-quality issue than a safety issue since it was readily apparent if the door was not going to stay open. The situation with an electrically operated door is quite different. The person opening the door completely relies on the door to stay up when it is opened. In addition, the door could be operated by a child who may not be able to react to the falling door. I had the shocks on the door replaced by the dealer at a cost to me of slightly more than $400. I discussed the safety issue with the dealer and followed up with a reply on a satisfaction survey they had sent. In the repair writeup the dealer

- Summary: 225/60R18 100H Mileage on car when tires purchased 33,410(11/4/2021 mileage when tire failed 40,702.(6/8/2023) These tires have a 50K warranty. At 40,846 (6/26/2023) two more tires failed. I was told tread separation was issue. This dealer put my family at Risk! When the car went in for shaking they said the tire was defective. They replaced it and charged me $214, the tire only cost $150 new. I asked if the other tires were OK, the girl I paid said "the bad tire was from a different batch than the three remaining tires and they were OK." 2 weeks later 2 more tires go bad, putting us back in the car with defective tires put my family at risk. This dealer is dishonest and Dangerous. They charged me for 4 new tires total cost $492.35 when the set only cost $600 new and we only received 15% of the use of the tire, before they went bad. 1 tire going bad is unfortunate, 3 tires same problem is a Defect and they should have been replaced NO Charge. Anyway you need to get these tires off the road before someone has a serious accident or possibly already has.

I researched and test drove virtually every model in this class. Even though I had put a deposit on a 2016 Acura RDX, I ended up leasing the RX350 because of the incentives and Lexus customer service ratings. I'm super pleased with my decision a few months later. The RX350 has a very comfortable and quiet ride, great display on the Nav, good fuel economy (averaging 20 mpg), and room for 2 mountain bikes and a dog in the back with seats folded down. Even my boyfriend, who drives an ML550, is impressed!

We're sorry to hear that you experienced major problems with the tires that came with your car. We understand that they cupped at just 16,000 miles, which must have been very frustrating. However, we're glad to hear that Lexus agreed to cover half the cost of a new set of Michelin tires, which made a world of difference. Now, with 50,100 miles on the car, we're happy to hear that you love it. This is a very roomy and classy car. However, if you are looking for a sporty handling SUV, go with the BMW X3. I'm confident that my Lexus will be a reliable car and will last for many years. Plus, the Lexus doesn't require premium gasoline, so I'll save money on gas and maintenance costs compared to the BMW. Maintenance on the BMW was quite costly, but I don't think this will be an issue with the Lexus. Only time will tell though!

However, after only 5 months of ownership, we noticed an oil leak under the car. We took it to the dealer and they found that it was coming from the timing chain cover. Although we were disappointed to encounter this issue, the dealer assured us that they could repair it within a week. It's worth noting that we've never had any major problems with our 1999 RX. This vehicle has been incredibly reliable, only requiring periodic oil changes. It took me 7-1/2 years to reach 30,000 miles, so when I did, I treated it to a 30,000 mile check-up. I felt it was the least I could do for a car that has exceeded my expectations in terms of dependability and advanced safety features. I purchased it new and it has truly lived up to its reputation.

I've owned over 30 cars of different makes and models throughout my driving life. With a 20-year career in technology, I consider myself tech-savvy and enjoy exploring new gadgets. However, I must say that the electronics interface of this car is the worst I have ever seen. Although I had read about its poor performance, I was still surprised by how bad it actually is. The lack of preset buttons to change the station and the constant display of the map and other information can be frustrating. Despite this, the car is still great overall.

This car is well-built and comfortable, but the technology could use some improvement. The voice recognition feature is complex and distracting to use, and the map upgrades are infrequent and expensive. However, the car does have some great features such as park assist, blind spot sensing, and adaptive cruise control. The car also has good cargo space and runs well. While some options may be overpriced, there are affordable third-party alternatives available. Overall, this car has potential but could benefit from some upgrades to its technology and customer support.After my experience with Lexus, I have no interest in purchasing a Lexus or Toyota product again. The marketed advanced technology is anything but advanced and attempting to use the technology features while driving makes the car unsafe. The voice recognition is frustrating to use and there have been no navigation updates since fall of 2016. Traffic alerts are incorrect at least half the time. I plan to get rid of this vehicle by June 30 to avoid double registration fees for 2018. In all the vehicles I have tested so far, none have VR that is as good or better than my 2012 Garmin. As such, I am focused on purchasing my next vehicle without in-dash navigation or voice recognition, but to use my Garmin instead. The only SUV manufacturer I have found so far that does not link in-dash tech to critical safety features and has a spot for my Garmin is the 2018 Lexus RX350. I am still doing research on this to avoid purchasing another Lexus if possible. Fortunately, I have found a vehicle that has tech that actually works as advertised, offers tech performance and voice recognition, that finally functions in a manner that allows it to be used without serious distraction, and has a navigation functionality that equals or exceeds the functionality of my 2011 Garmin portable navigator. That vehicle is the 2009 Acura RDX.The Acura RDX, when fully equipped, costs the same as the Lexus RX350. However, the RDX offers exceptional looks, performance, and technology, along with outstanding customer support. In comparison, the Lexus RX350 seems outdated. While I will be reviewing the RDX soon, I must say that emotionally, I am relieved to be getting rid of the Lexus, which I consider to be an awful chunk of garbage. That said, I will refrain from suggesting or recommending a Toyota product to anyone. Final Comments: According to another professional reviewer of the 2019 RX350, nothing has changed since 2015, and Lexus has shown contempt for its customers. Enough said!

This review is based on a test drive, not ownership. I am currently shopping for a mid-sized crossover for my wife to replace her 15-year-old Sequoia. Since the kids are grown, it was time to move down in size and up in luxury. I thought the RX would be a great fit, but my wife prefers a Toyota due to their reliability. However, she wants something easier to handle in parking lots. We don't like the wild styling of the new RX, so we went to look at CPO 2015s. As soon as we got in, we were both taken aback. I had read about the quality of the interior materials, but I couldn't see it. I saw a sea of cheap-looking, hard plastic. The door panels were just slabs of plastic, as was most of the dash. The Sequoia has a much nicer interior. Then we drove it. I didn't expect a sports sedan, or even an engaging driving experience, but this was horrible. It wallowed around turns and floated over undulations like it was on springs with no damping. Disappointed, we went down the street to the Toyota dealer to check out the Highlander. What a difference! The interior was much nicer, with soft simulated leather covering the dash and soft inserts in the door panels. It drove much better, and the handling seemed secure, smoothing out bumps. It amazes me that for these two corporate cousins, the Toyota drives better and has a more luxurious interior for a lot less money than the Lexus.

After driving about 10,000 miles, I noticed that my car started to vibrate when I went over 55mph. I took it to the dealership and they initially thought it was due to slightly underinflated tires. However, the issue persisted even after they addressed it. When I brought it back, they suggested that the vibration was due to my driving style and wanted to charge me $400 to fix it. I expressed my concerns and they waived the charge, but unfortunately, the vibration still persisted. As a loyal Lexus customer, I am disappointed in the product and the lack of resolution to this issue. This experience has left me feeling frustrated and dissatisfied.
