Common 2016 Lexus Rc f problems

Based on the information gathered from various sources regarding the Lexus RC F, here are some common problems reported by owners of the 2016 Lexus RC F:

  • Reliability Concerns: While Lexus is known for exceptional build quality, some owners have raised concerns about the reliability of specific components in the RC F, particularly as the cars age. Issues related to reliability can impact the ownership experience and maintenance costs over time.
  • Limited Availability of Parts: Due to the unique design and features of the Lexus RC F, some owners have faced challenges with the availability of specific parts or components for repairs. This can lead to longer repair times and potentially higher costs for maintenance.
  • Suspension and Steering: Certain owners have reported issues related to the suspension and steering systems of the Lexus RC F. Problems with these components can affect the handling and overall driving experience of the vehicle, highlighting the importance of regular maintenance and inspections.
  • Depreciation Concerns: While not a mechanical problem, depreciation has been a topic of discussion among Lexus RC F owners. Understanding how the value of the car depreciates over time is crucial for potential buyers and current owners looking to make informed decisions about their investment.

These common problems highlight the importance of thorough research and maintenance when considering or owning a Lexus RC F. Regular inspections, timely repairs, and awareness of potential issues can help mitigate these challenges and ensure a positive ownership experience.

Are RC F reliable?

The RC F has been remarkably reliable, although there was a minor recall for 2020-2022 models that concerned a missing weight capacity on the tire label. 2016-2018 models were also recalled for a possibly faulty fuel pump.

Why did Lexus discontinue the RC?

Following the introduction of stricter crash safety regulations, the RC, along with the IS sedan and the CT hatchback, were pulled out from the Australian market in November 2021.

What is the life expectancy of a Lexus RC car?

With proper maintenance, a Lexus car last around 250,000-300,000 miles. So, it indicates that the car can easily last for around 17-20 years. The normal lifespan of a car is around 150,000-200,000 miles. So, buying a Lexus car can be a very good investment.

Is RC F faster than LC 500?

Perhaps this is why the LC 500 does the sprint in 4.4 seconds. That's a bit longer than the RC F with 4.2 seconds or the RC F Track Edition with 3.96 seconds. The RC F has Launch Control.

If you're in the market for a car that offers 'Snap your Head Back performance', excellent build quality, and an interior that reflects an attention to detail, then you should definitely take a close look at this car. Better yet, take it for a drive and you'll be suitably impressed. Before purchasing this car, I owned my first Lexus, an RC 350 F Sport, which was a nice car no doubt. However, the six cylinder just didn't do it for me. I looked at the M4 and then came back to look at the RC-F. Yes, the M-4 is a nice car and has a lot going for it, but so does the RC-F. While the RC-F is heavier, there were four things which won the day. Firstly, the V-8. When you fire this up in the morning, you know you're riding a rocket as this baby really rumbles to life. Secondly, the overall design and lines of this vehicle are really attractive. I see all kinds of BMW's and the body shape and size all look very similar, not the RC-F, this has a very distinctive look to it. Thirdly, the interior and seating. The attention to detail in this interior is flawless, something I think Lexus has dialed in. Finally, let me say the overall performance of this car is truly breathtaking. Dial this into Sport+ mode and it's ready to rip. Now, I will never take this on a track, but let's just say when you put your foot into it, the rocket ship takes off. Are there faster cars out there? Yes, no doubt. And while you could look at any one thing and say it's no big deal, I think when you put them all together, they make a compelling reason for me to purchase the RC-F. Okay, as with all things, there are some things I don't like or feel could be drastically improved on. The first is the Navi Screen. I would like to see a bigger one. The M-4's Navi looked nicer. The other thing I would like to see improved is a faster shifting transmission. When you're in Sport plus mode, the RC-F shifts faster, but in my opinion, it could still be improved. However, this is not a deal breaker for me. At the end of the day, the RC-F delivers great performance and quality. What's not to like? I just wanted to give a quick update. I've had this car for almost two years now and I haven't had any mechanical problems. On long distance trips, I've gotten 28 miles to the gallon, which is pretty respectable if you keep your foot off the accelerator. Lexus did a software update on the transmission last year, which made it shift faster and anticipate how you drive better. It's not a dual clutch tranny, so don't expect that, but it's still a thrill ride. To sum up this update, I really like this car and wouldn't hesitate to buy another one. I'm not a grand prix driver, but I love the acceleration and fine handling characteristics. This is a fun car to own and drive with minimal problems.

Exactly as advertised! It was such a joy to drive - smooth, fast, and perfect for long drives with the three of us. Ollie, our Frenchie puppy, absolutely loves the back seat!

  3. Uriel Gutmann 2025-05-06

I've owned my RC-F for about a year now and I absolutely love it! I've tracked it a few times and it's also my daily driver. First, let me tell you about my daily driving impressions: When you start it up cold, it sounds like a muscle car V8 should sound - amazing! Not too loud to annoy your neighbors, but just right. If this car doesn't put a smile on your face when you start it, you're already dead and can't possibly be reading this. As a daily driver, the car is a bit stiff, so if you drive on rough roads, it might get old. But I will say that I have grown to love the stiffness of it - and the seats are even more important than the suspension. The seats in this car are so amazing that even all day drives in the seat will leave you feeling great. They are truly a work of art - I would drive this car across the country without hesitation. In keeping with Lexus tradition, the car is exceptionally refined, with great fit/finish and excellent materials throughout. Now, let me tell you about my track impressions and spirited mountain road driving: A lot is made of this car's weight, but let me tell you: this car is exceptionally balanced and it is absolutely track ready. I've got 3 separate track days under my belt, some of which in mid 80 degree weather - the car never gets too hot, the brakes never die on you and you simply drive it home when you're done. This car will hang with all but the fastest of sports cars. On twisty mountain roads, you simply can't approach the car's limits. Braking, shifting, steering feel are all excellent; plus you get the amazing (and now, RARE) sound of a naturally aspirated 5.0 V8 roaring when you press the skinny pedal. If you can find another naturally aspirated V8 GT luxury coupe, buy it! Just kidding, you won't, because there are literally no other choices. This car is special. Lastly, it's worth mentioning that this car will get attention. If you spend $150k on a Porsche 911, no one will look twice at you.If you spend $100k plus on a Tesla, people will casually comment on your nice car. But if you pull up in a Lexus RC-F, people will be amazed and want to talk to you about it. This car is truly impressive.

This car is a great balance between luxury and performance. If you're looking for either straight luxury or straight performance, this may not be the car for you. Personally, I own a Lexus LS and a Porsche Carrera 4, and the RC F fits somewhere in the middle. Overall, I'm very happy with this car.

  5. Laron Frami 2025-03-16

Lexus did a fantastic job with their 'racing coupe'. The sheet metal has a flowing, sexy shape that sets it apart from other cars on the road. In addition to the unique styling cues, the engine sounds as amazing as it performs. The technology inside is overflowing, from the infotainment system to the instrument cluster that changes from Economy to Normal to Sport to Sport+ (or 'beast mode'). Who would have thought that Lexus had such an aggressive side?
