2016 Toyota Prius c problems

The Toyota Prius c (c stands for "city"), also known as the Toyota Aqua (Japanese: トヨタ・アクア, Hepburn: Toyota Akua); "aqua" is Latin for water) in Japan, is a full hybrid gasoline-electric subcompact/supermini hatchback manufactured and marketed by Toyota. The Prius c is the third member of the Prius family, and combines the features of a Yaris-sized car with a hybrid powertrain. The Prius c is priced lower than the conventional Prius and has a higher fuel economy in city driving under United States Environmental Protection Agency test cycles. The Prius c was ranked by the EPA as the 2012 most fuel efficient compact car when plug-in electric vehicles are excluded.
The production version of the Aqua was unveiled in the 2011 Tokyo Motor Show. The production Prius c was introduced in the U.S. at the January 2012 North American International Auto Show in Detroit. The Aqua was launched in Japan in December 2011 at a price of ¥1.69 million (US$21,700). Sales in several Asian markets began in January 2012. The Prius c was released in the U.S. and Canada in March 2012. Sales in Australia and New Zealand began in April 2012.
The Aqua is considered the most successful nameplate launch in Japan in the last 20 years. As of January 2017, the Aqua/Prius c is the second most sold hybrid of Toyota after the regular Prius, with 1,380,100 units sold worldwide. Japan as the market leader with 1,154,500 units sold through January 2017. The Aqua was the top selling new car in Japan for three years in a row, from 2013 to 2015.
The Prius C was discontinued in North America at the end of the 2019 model year. It was also discontinued in Australia in early 2020.

Common 2016 Toyota Prius c problems
The 2016 Toyota Prius C has been known to have several common problems, primarily related to its electrical system, hybrid propulsion system, and brakes.
- Electrical System Issues:
One of the most common problems with the 2016 Toyota Prius C is related to its electrical system. A recall was issued for the 2016 model due to an electrical issue that could cause the vehicle to stall without warning. Toyota dealers can fix this issue by updating the software or replacing the IPM.
Additionally, there have been reports of the tire pressure monitoring system not being calibrated properly, resulting in the driver not being warned when a tire becomes dangerously low. This issue was addressed through a recall, and Toyota dealers re-calibrated the system free of charge for affected vehicles.
- Hybrid Propulsion System Problems:
The 2016 Toyota Prius C's hybrid propulsion system has also been a source of complaints. Some owners have reported that the car suddenly loses power and stalls, especially when attempting to turn it on. This issue has been attributed to a faulty battery, which dealers have replaced in some cases.
- Brake Issues:
The 2016 Toyota Prius C is equipped with regenerative brakes, which are different from standard mechanical brakes and can react aggressively during wet weather, potentially causing the car to skid. Many Prius C owners have found that braking more gently in the rain solves this problem. However, this issue has led to complaints about the car's braking performance, particularly in adverse weather conditions.
In summary, the 2016 Toyota Prius C has several common problems related to its electrical system, hybrid propulsion system, and brakes. These issues have led to recalls, complaints, and concerns about the vehicle's overall safety and reliability. Owners of this model year should be aware of these problems and consider addressing them promptly to ensure the safe and efficient operation of their vehicles.

TIRES PROBLEM
- Date Of Incident: 2024-08-06
- VIN: JTDKDTB37G1
- Components: TIRES
- Summary: Prinx HiCITY HH2 175/65R15 84H Bought this tire in November 2022. About 15000 miles into it, on Aug 6, 2024, the passenger front tire just busted. After swapping with the spare tire, and upon inspection, there was no nail nor it hit the curb, but the side wall is busted. This is a manufacturing quality issue.
POWER TRAIN,ELECTRICAL SYSTEM,ENGINE PROBLEM
- Date Of Incident: 2020-06-03
- VIN: JTDKBRFU2G3
- Components: POWER TRAIN,ELECTRICAL SYSTEM,ENGINE
- Summary: During summer months when temperatures are above 100 degrees when accelerating from a complete stop I can hear the engine rev and the RPMs increase but the vehicle will move at 1-2 mph. Even if the accelerator is to the floor. After 3-4 seconds the tires will squeal and the vehicle will be jolted forward then it will slowly accelerate. This happens occasionally and I have taken it to a Toyota dealership and a chain mechanic shop, neither have been able to recreate the problem. There are no warnings and no error codes. I have been stuck in the middle of intersections trying to turn left, I have not been hit, but I fear it will happen. There is a recall out for this issue on other Priuses and I believe the issue needs to be investigated further as there is another complaint on this site for the same issue and I have found it on other sites. I bought the car in fall of 2019 and this problem has been occurring since summer of 2020.
STRUCTURE PROBLEM
- Date Of Incident: 2024-03-01
- VIN: JTDKARFU1G3
- Components: STRUCTURE
- Summary: Paint is starting to peel around trunk, clear coat has peeled off of black triangle areas by rear passenger windows on both sides of vehicle. Other 2016 Prius have had a paint recall. My vehicle needs to be included in the recall.
SERVICE BRAKES PROBLEM
- Date Of Incident: 2024-06-05
- VIN: JTDKARFU2G3
- Components: SERVICE BRAKES
- Summary: We were driving in San Diego and had driven oven a bit pothole. About 50 miles after driving over the pothole, the brakes stopped working. We were pressing down hard on the brake, but the brake was soft and did not do its job. We almost rear ended the car in front of us. We brought the car right away to a close by auto shop and they said there were no leaks as the brake fluid was still close to the max and they did not find any indication of a brake fluid leak and sent us on our way. We are still unsure as to why the brake from this vehicle stopped.
STRUCTURE PROBLEM
- Date Of Incident: 2024-05-01
- VIN: JTDKBRFU9G3
- Components: STRUCTURE
- Summary: Starting in about 2019, the exterior black panel behind the rear right mirror began peeling. Soon, the blue exterior paint on the car began to show damaged spots, lining up with the parts of the car most exposed to the sun: the roof most of all, but the top panel behind the rear window and the top of the trunk showing signs of damage as well. The beginnings of this damage are also appearing on a couple of parts of the side doors, making it clear that the underlying problem applies to all of the blue exterior paint. It seems as if the exterior layer - some sort of sealant or finish - is not holding up properly in the sun. By contrast, our red-painted 2014 Prius, which has been exposed to the same conditions but for a longer period of time - shows none of this damage. The damage is quite extensive and visible, and it's unclear to what extent the protective qualities of the paint are now compromised. The service department at the dealership has inspected the paint, as has a third-party shop, and all agree that there is a serious paint problem. The issue is available for further inspection. The safety issue here is the potential for corrosion of the body due to the compromised paint integrity.
ELECTRICAL SYSTEM,SERVICE BRAKES PROBLEM
- Date Of Incident: 2024-04-22
- VIN: JTDKARFU2G3
- Components: ELECTRICAL SYSTEM,SERVICE BRAKES
- Summary: While driving vehicle on the freeway it stated braking power low, stop in a safe place, antilock brake system malfunction, pre-collision system malfunction, lane departure alert malfunction. I was almost in a major scary accident.
ELECTRICAL SYSTEM,HYBRID PROPULSION SYSTEM PROBLEM
- Date Of Incident: 2024-04-10
- VIN: JTDKARFU3G3
- Components: ELECTRICAL SYSTEM,HYBRID PROPULSION SYSTEM
- Summary: The contact owns a 2016 Toyota Prius. The contact stated while driving at approximately 70 MPH, the steering wheel stopped operating and the vehicle began to shut down. The contact stated that a yellow blinking light and a hybrid system malfunction warning light illuminated the instrument panel. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic where it was diagnosed that the hybrid battery was low and there was a failure of the engine wiring harness. The hybrid battery was able to recharge but the dealer stated that the electric wiring harness needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. A dealer was not contacted. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 159,141.
UNKNOWN OR OTHER PROBLEM
- Date Of Incident: 2024-02-04
- VIN: JTDKBRFU7G3
- Components: UNKNOWN OR OTHER
- Summary: Coolant is leaking. There were no indicator that coolant is low. Suddenly while trying to get on the freeway the car would not get up to speed regardless how much pressure was put on the pedals. On the way back home, all of a sudden the engine temperature light flashed on then off twice. The car operated like normal but it was still concerning and we had it checked out. Coolant was leaking but no where to be found? It seems Toyota had previous recalls where coolant was leaking into the engine. I think my model is also affected.
STRUCTURE,UNKNOWN OR OTHER,VISIBILITY/WIPER PROBLEM
- Date Of Incident: 2018-08-01
- VIN: JTDKARFU6G3
- Components: STRUCTURE,UNKNOWN OR OTHER,VISIBILITY/WIPER
- Summary: I reported issues with this car in 2018. Clicking sounds under the car which is still happening, peeling paint on exterior and inside door areas, substandard windshield that spread in a very unusual pattern when hit by a small rock. The NHTSA ID Number that was assigned to these complaints is [XXX] . None of these problems have been addressed. There are other owners that have experienced the same problems, apparently their issues have not been addressed. These problems should have been sent by you to the Toyota Corporation, but apparently was not. I have owned many Toyota vehicles and have not experienced these problems. I also own a 2012 Toyota Prius which I drive when I when I am traveling on the interstate, because I feel that the clicking noises on the 2016 Toyota Prius is a safety issue that seems to be coming from the steering section underneath the car. When traveling the speed limit on the on Interstate highways, what would be the outcome if the steering mechanisms underneath the car did not work properly. It is a shame that this safety issue has not been addressed by you, and it is also a shame that I have to drive my older toyota at these times to feel safer when driving. ENGINE PROBLEM
- Date Of Incident: 2023-06-07
- VIN: JTDKBRFU1G3
- Components: ENGINE
- Summary: We were driving kids to camp and the thermometer light went on. It was blinking for a while, then turned off and then turned steadily on. We weren't sure what to do, so we called our trusty mechanic who said "bring it in right now." We did and it turned out that this was a broken head gasket. Our car is regularly maintained by a trusted Prius mechanic and has less than 78K miles, despite its age. From our mechanic: We found the engine coolant was low in the radiator. We filled the system and pressure-tested, found no external leaks. The thermostat and fans operate normally. We found 54 ppm HCs in the radiator initially, and after a test-drive we re-checked and found 110 ppm HC in the radiator. Combustion chamber gas is getting into the cooling system, typically a symptom of headgasket failure. The cylinder head needs to be removed to evaluate. FYI this is the first headgasket failure we have seen on the 4th gen Prius, but it is the same engine designation as the 3rd gen Prius, which has a pattern problem of headgasket failure. The expectation is that the failure is the same, but we need to open the engine to evaluate. Given the low mileage, it might be worth pushing Toyota for a goodwill warranty even though it is out of the official powertrain warranty period. I called Toyota and they refused to pass along a goodwill warranty.
TIRES PROBLEM
- Date Of Incident: 2023-03-24
- Components: TIRES
- Summary: The contact owns a 2016 Toyota Prius equipped with Cooper Tires, Tire Line: Mastercraft, Tire Size: 195/65/15, DOT Number: (Not Available). The contacted stated that while driving approximately 65 MPH, the vehicle began to violently shake and vibrated. After stopping to inspect the vehicle, it was discovered that the passenger’s side rear tire had experienced sidewall steel belt separation. The cause of the failure was not determined. The local dealer and manufacturer were not notified of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 20,000.
VEHICLE SPEED CONTROL,ENGINE PROBLEM
- Date Of Incident: 2023-03-01
- VIN: JTDKBRFU8G3
- Components: VEHICLE SPEED CONTROL,ENGINE
- Summary: On September 2022 (at 46K) Dealer did TSB related fix on my 2016 Prius. PFA for service record. They replaced Exhaust Front Pipe, which is suggested work from Toyota PFA for Toyota Technical Bulletin. T-SB-0135-19 At 51,747 on March 1st 2023 around 8 40 am, while we are driving on highway at 70 mph suddenly Check Engine Light, Coolant light, Hybrid related lights were on Vehicle lost the control, speed was dropping luckily we could safely stop the vehicle on the shoulder no Vehicle hit us from behind. Sudden stop of engine while driving on highway at 51K miles is safety issue. Toyota dealer could not provide additional details except Engine is over heating.
VISIBILITY/WIPER PROBLEM
- Date Of Incident: 2022-10-20
- VIN: Jtdkdtb3xg1
- Components: VISIBILITY/WIPER
- Summary: The original windshield has a “rippling distortion” where the windshield has ripple/bubble from defective glass or installation mistakes, making seeing traffic signs or streets very hard. I just bought this vehicle and noticed the problem. It created poor road vision, especially at night. Toyota needs to recall and replace all these windshields before it causes more accidents due to poor visibility looking through the glass.
ENGINE PROBLEM
- Date Of Incident: 2022-08-13
- VIN: JTDKARFU0G3
- Components: ENGINE
- Summary: Shortly after having my Toyota serviced, I had an engine coolant warning sign appear. I checked and noted the coolant was gone. I bought coolant and filled the coolant tank. A week later, I see the light again. I have seen no leakage at all on the ground. I refilled the coolant and checked again the next morning. Again the tank is empty. I took the car to a local reputable service person and thus far, he sees no leakage outside of the car. This suggests to him a bigger problem, where the coolant is going somewhere it should not. If it is to the engine, I will have to replace that!!
STRUCTURE,VISIBILITY/WIPER PROBLEM
- Date Of Incident: 2022-07-18
- VIN: JTDKARFU0G3
- Components: STRUCTURE,VISIBILITY/WIPER
- Summary: At the beginning of this week, I was checking fluid levels and upon dropping my hood, I watched a crack in the windshield extend up from the base of the windshield. Then, while I was driving, I watched the crack extend and branch into a second crack. Upon further inspection, it appears cracking started under the windshield wiper and arched downward to the base of the windshield and another a new crack extend upward. I am the only person who drives this car. I do not park under a tree or anything that might fall on the windshield. I have not experienced any rocks hitting the windshield recently. I have not driven in the rain in several weeks. The only time the windshield wipers moved recently is when I cleaned my windshield over the weekend and lifted the wipers to reach underneath. Best as I can tell, the crack started due to the windshield wiper being picked up and let back down. This concerns me a great deal considering that is not a great amount of force.
POWER TRAIN,ELECTRICAL SYSTEM,VEHICLE SPEED CONTROL PROBLEM
- Date Of Incident: 2022-06-13
- VIN: jtdkbrfu7g3
- Components: POWER TRAIN,ELECTRICAL SYSTEM,VEHICLE SPEED CONTROL
- Summary: When the battery cooling fan is running, the car is slow to accelerate or will not accelerate at all. The incident has happened multiple times over the past year when the temperatures are above 90. If at a complete stop, the car will not accelerate, it will only jerk forward. The car has to be turned off and restarted to be able to accelerate. If braking or reducing speed, the car will be sluggish, and I have not been able to get the speed over 40 mph. I have taken it to the dealership, but they said they could not recreate the issue, though I do not believe that they followed the directions I gave them to recreate the problem. No warning lights appear when the issue occurs, so they did not have an answer. The first time the incident occurred, I had just had the scheduled maintenance completed two days earlier and they did not find anything in the inspection that needed to be repaired. The first time the incident occurred, I was at a stop light trying to make a right turn. The incident has occurred twice when trying to pull on to the highway and accelerate up to speed.
POWER TRAIN,ENGINE PROBLEM
- Date Of Incident: 2022-05-21
- VIN: jtdkarfu9g3
- Components: POWER TRAIN,ENGINE
- Summary: Overheating light began flashing while driving 5/21/22. Drove to Napa Auto Parts and saw coolant reservoir was empty. Bought anti-freeze and filled reservoir. Upon arrival at destination, reservoir was empty again. Filled it again. Upon the next morning, reservoir was empty again. Took it to an auto-shop which found that the exhaust heat exchanger in my car has failed and is leaking coolant. Please see Applicable technical service bulletin, T-SB 0135-19. While the car is less than 96 months old, it is above 80k miles. I see this issue has been escalated in California, where the warranty is for 96 months and 150k miles. Want to report that the change in miles between states is disappointing. This issue is common and should be handled as a known recall, not just a known issue.
AIR BAGS PROBLEM
- Date Of Incident: 2021-04-22
- VIN: JTDKBRFU5G3
- Components: AIR BAGS
- Summary: My steering wheel controls, including odometer, cruise control, horn, and airbag light is on. I took it to the dealership and they said it is the spring (clocking) cable in the steering wheel. Looking up a recall there are quite a few years and models where this exact issue has been recalled on Toyotas, but the dealership says my 2016 Toyota Prius is not cover (same exact issue). I submitted a ticket through Toyota customer service but they have done nothing about this safety issue for the 2016 Toyota Prius. I see lots of blogs and complaints because the airbag default warning light stays lit, so I assume airbag is not functional. I found a site that says to put the complaint through here.
UNKNOWN OR OTHER PROBLEM
- Date Of Incident: 2022-03-01
- VIN: JTDKBRFU1G3
- Components: UNKNOWN OR OTHER
- Summary: Our car has approximately 65K miles on it. THREE of the door lock actuators have failed already. This is terrifying that we might not be able to lock or unlock doors in an emergency particularly with our kids in the back seat. We have had our Prius serviced regularly by an independent well regarded local hybrid car mechanic and they think it is very odd that these have all failed so quickly.
UNKNOWN OR OTHER PROBLEM
- Date Of Incident: 2022-02-13
- VIN: JTDKARFU2G3
- Components: UNKNOWN OR OTHER
- Summary: The active grille shutter system failed due to debris. There is a bulletin already that references error code P05A072 - active grille shutter stuck open. The code I got was P059F73 - active shutter grille stuck closed. Not sure why it wasn’t included in the original bulletin when the cause and part are the same. This seems to be a known problem with this vehicle that can lead to engine overheating. Bulletin referenced was T-SB-0319-17.
SEATS PROBLEM
- Date Of Incident: 2021-12-02
- Number Of Injuries: 1
- Crash: 1
- VIN: jtdkbrfu5g3
- Components: SEATS
- Summary: The contact owned a 2016 Toyota Prius. The contact stated that while switching lanes, the vehicle was rear-ended by another vehicle driving at 30 MPH. The contact's front driver's side seat backrest inadvertently moved backward, which caused her shins to hit the dashboard under the steering wheel during impact. None of the air bags deploy upon impact. The contact later received medical attention at the hospital for injuries to her shins. A police report was filed. The vehicle was towed to a tow yard and deemed totaled by the insurance company. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 88,000.
POWER TRAIN PROBLEM
- Date Of Incident: 2020-01-01
- VIN: JTDKARFU9G3
- Components: POWER TRAIN
- Summary: Over the course of the last year, I have noticed an increasingly louder clicking noise coming from the front left (driver side) wheel area upon breaking. The noise goes away if I shift into neutral, so I'm nearly positive that this is related to the axle/CV joint. I've also conducted extensive research on this issue and it is a common problem encountered by other Gen4 Prius owners. Toyota even issued a TSB for this issue in December of 2018 (T-SB-0157-18), NHTSA No. 10153229. My car had its powertrain warranty lapse earlier this year, but I know for a fact that this has been covered out of warranty because I've corresponded with other Prius owners who had Toyota cover the repair of this defect/glitch. I am trying to avoid a catastrophic breakdown of my CV joint if I'm driving on the highway and I'd appreciate it if NHTSA would be able to compel Toyota to help with the repair of this issue. I've had no luck dealing with either the dealership, or the corporate office at Toyota. They do not seem to be taking any ownership of this issue nor taking demonstrating any accountability.
VISIBILITY/WIPER PROBLEM
- Date Of Incident: 2021-10-20
- VIN: JTDKARFU4G3
- Components: VISIBILITY/WIPER
- Summary: Moments ago, I entered my 2016 Toyota Prius to find that my windshield had mysteriously cracked while parked over night. The crack was not present when I last drove the car last night. Based on some online research for windshield replacement cost, I've learned that Toyota was faced with a class action lawsuit regarding 2016-17 Toyota Prius containing defective windshields; in which these windshields are known to unexpectedly crack while parked or under ordinary driving conditions. Furthermore, my Toyota Prius is equipped with safety features (such as pre-collision system, lane departure alert with steering assist, automatic high beams and full-speed dynamic radar cruise control) that require a front camera to function properly. The cracked windshield now interferes with the camera's visibility, line of sight and perceived orientation, thus causing me to feel unsafe while driving the vehicle. I am filing this compliant because I am now faced with not only an unsafe vehicle to operate, but also the cost to fix a windshield that is known to be defective from Toyota.
STEERING,UNKNOWN OR OTHER PROBLEM
- Date Of Incident: 2021-10-01
- VIN: JTDKARFU9G3
- Components: STEERING,UNKNOWN OR OTHER
- Summary: I bought my 2016 Prius brand new in November of 2016. Over the past 2 years or so my OEM leather like steering wheel wrap started to wrinkle. it is now cracking and starting to peel. it hasn't caused any stealing control issues, it is just ugly an slight distracting on the palm of the hand. I do worry that if might start causing gripping issues on that side of the steering wheel if the wrap becomes loose.

Hi there! I'm a recent college graduate in my 20s who works in the film industry and loves to drive across the country. When it comes to cars, I prioritize functionality and pragmatism. That's why I fell in love with my 2014 Prius C, which I affectionately call '-3P0'. It was the first new car I ever bought, and in just 12 months, I put 45,000 miles on it driving from Albuquerque to Los Angeles, Seattle to Oklahoma City, and more. Despite not being a luxurious ride, I always felt safe and the vehicle consistently performed as expected. Plus, the flawlessly integrated Bluetooth system was a massive boon on those long drives! If you take care of this car as instructed (and I don't mean hand-polishing your paint job once a week), but simply driving smart and providing regular maintenance, it'll work very hard for you. Let's talk about size for a moment. Inside, the fold-down seats provide you with substantial storage space for a vehicle in this class. Transporting grip equipment like tripods and steadicams is generally no problem as long as you organize your cases appropriately. And my *favorite* aspect of this car? PARKING! I'm simply smitten with the profile of this vehicle. Maybe it's because I'm a European living in the States, but I can't imagine driving a car larger than this and still being able to find parking in downtown LA--or almost anywhere in LA--on short notice during any given day. Now, for some exaggerated criticism. I've had friends tell me that driving this car is not unlike riding a large turtle (I, for one, happen to respect the longest-living mammal on this planet). Merging onto the highway? Either slam on that gas pedal and listen to your engine scream as the acceleration meter runs red, or stay in the green and ignore the scowls of zooming passerby's blaring their horns. But don't worry, it's not a big deal. At the end of the day, I absolutely loved my little C-3P0 and don't regret choosing it over the Yaris, Fiesta, Sonic, or Dart for one second. But since I'll be driving less in the future, I decided to trade him in for a fresh start. After looking at all the new 2016 models, including a very attractive crimson Scion iA, I drove off the dealership with another Prius C. I have no regrets (I mean, just look at that gorgeous front bumper). Now I just have to find a good name...

I leased a 2012 Prius C Two and debated buying it when the lease was up. However, since it was November, I negotiated a deal on a 2015 model. The three years with the 2012 were trouble-free, but the 2015 upgrades are noticeable and impressive. The headlights now project a good distance ahead, making driving at night much easier. The new vents, vastly improved climate control interface, and updated taillights give the car a sleek and modern look. The Three includes Toyota's E-tune system, which has its pros and cons. While the voice recognition can be frustrating, the Bluetooth interface is seamless, and using apps like Pandora is great on long trips. One thing that has remained consistent across the years is the excellent fuel economy and trouble-free motoring. Overall, the Prius C Two and Three are both great options, and I highly recommend them!

I purchased this car as a secondary commuting vehicle to save a significant amount of money on gas, as I drive around 70-80 miles a day during the week. I thought it would simply be a way to get me from point A to point B, with four wheels, a steering wheel, and great gas mileage. However, I was pleasantly surprised, even during the test drive, and even more so after driving it daily for the past 5,000 miles. Let me start with my minor complaints: - The driver's seat could use some lower lumbar support, at least for my back. My Jeep has an adjustment on the seat that does that; this car does not. - The forward view from the driver's seat is excellent; however, there are significant blind spots on the side, and the rear windshield is small. This makes changing lanes in Chicago traffic quite interesting. - The front collision Driving this car at night is an absolute joy! The dashboard lighting and LED highlights are fantastic. Plus, driving the kids to a friend's house on a rainy day just a few blocks away in EV mode (all electric) is so much fun. Just be careful in parking lots as the gas engine doesn't usually turn on and you can sneak up on people! Anyways, I could go on and on. The point is, this car is much more than just four wheels to get you to your destination. At this price, for the gas mileage and Toyota quality you get, after a thorough test drive, it really was a no-brainer for me.

It sounds like you have found the perfect car for your needs! With two people and a dog, it's great that you have found a car that works well for all of you. Plus, the fact that it gets great gas mileage is a huge bonus and will save you money in the long run. It's always important to find a car that fits within your budget, and it sounds like you have done just that. The 1 was tempting, but it's great that you opted for the 2 with cruise control for those longer drives. Keeping things simple is always a good idea, and it's great that you can add any extras you need later on. Overall, it sounds like you have made a smart choice with this car and I hope it continues to serve you well!

I've driven Honda Fits before (07 and 2012), but I wasn't a fan of the new redesign. I never really considered the Prius (I was leaning more towards a Crz or Golf), but that was before I saw the c at a dealership one night. It was shining in the moonlight and looked so edgy and futuristic. I test drove it the next day and it was mine within the week! I really enjoy my c. It hugs the road through messy weather and brakes nicely. The interior is very stylish with blue instrumentation and a touchscreen at the front. The c is so quiet. One foggy night, we left the movies and before we hit highway speeds, it felt surreal - silently cutting through the fog, the futuristic interior/blue glow, and high powered LED lights - so memorable. The fuel economy is excellent! The acceleration takes some time getting used to, but now I know how it handles - it's not peppy like a Fit, but it isn't a sluggard either. Because it is a Hybrid, it is not a powerhouse, but I never feel intimidated merging or traveling on the interstate as the engine does have a little kick when needed! The c holds quite a bit too - flatten the rear seats in any combo and it almost gives the Fit a run for its money in storage space. I do wish it had more hidey-holes and cup holders like the Fit though. I truly feel blessed to have and drive such an amazing little car. Respect the Prius!

If you're looking for a car that's environmentally friendly, this one might be a good option. However, I had some trouble with the controls during my rental period. The pedals and steering wheel didn't provide much feedback, which made it difficult to brake smoothly. Additionally, the acceleration and handling left something to be desired. The ride was a bit rough and noisy, and the seats weren't very comfortable. Lastly, the car has a CVT which can be a bit loud. Overall, while this car may have some benefits, it may not be the best fit for everyone.

While the car does have great mileage in traffic and city driving, I would not recommend it for highway use. In my experience, the car's MPG falls short of the advertised amount when driving at speeds over 70 MPH. Additionally, the car's acceleration and power may not provide the safest driving experience. Even when fully pressing the accelerator, the car struggles to reach highway speeds and can lose momentum on hills. However, the car's performance in traffic is impressive.
