Rattles in the cabin/hatch back area are another common problem reported by 2019 Kia Stinger owners. This issue can be caused by various factors, such as loose components or worn-out materials. Is a Kia Stinger a reliable car?

Reported problems with the Stinger are few, so far, with most relating to non-engine electrics, and most models in the Kia range have a good reputation for reliability.

Does Kia Stinger have transmission problems?

If you don't routinely and consistently change your fluids at least every 30,000 miles or so, you may find that your Kia Stinger transmission will quickly slip.

Why is the Kia Stinger not selling well?

However, as shown by sales figures on GoodCarBadCar, the Stinger has not been the sales success that Kia would have hoped it would be. This is likely down to the high price tag for the V6 model when a comparable BMW, Mercedes or Audi is available for the same money or less.

What is the engine issue on the Kia Stinger?

Kia is recalling certain 2019-2020 K900 and 2018-2023 Stinger sedans with a 3.3-liter turbocharged engine due to concerns that the left turbocharger oil feed pipe and hose assembly may deteriorate and leak oil. Over time, that pipe and the assembly may break down because of exposure to heat from the exhaust manifold.

UNKNOWN OR OTHER,ENGINE PROBLEM

  • Date Of Incident: 2024-05-08
  • VIN: KNAE35LC4K6
  • Components: UNKNOWN OR OTHER,ENGINE
  • Summary: I called the Vanguard Kia dealership in Arlington (3:22pm), TX the date I received the recall letter on 5/7/2024. The service rep (I didn't get his name) put me hold and confirmed the work would only take 3 hours, I would take a shuttle home, I should arrive first thing at 7am the following morning. I arrived at the dealership to drop my car of 7am on [XXX]. There was no service scheduled for me, but since I get there early I was only 3rd in line to be seen. As I was about to leave in the shuttle, and the Zach (second service rep to help) advised they didn't have the part or the tools to perform the work need to complete my recall. I was upset because I was assured by the service rep I spoke with the day prior that I'd didn't a loaner and I'd drop my car off and get it back same day since it was a 3 hour job. I inquired about getting a loaner vehicle and I was told my job wasn't big enough to qualify for loaner; even my car was still under the original warranty and this was recall related work. I was told I "should" be ok driving the car, even though I express concern about the catching fire as stated in the recall letter. After call Kia Customer Relations, they give the dealership a call and they still refused to accommondate me. I was told "if any happened Kia would take responsiblity", "I was concerned, just don't park the car close to the my home" (Zach's peer), and that I could pay out of pocket up front for a rental and they reimburse once I got my car back. I don't feel I needed to have to come out of pocket anything consider this is warranty / recall work. They gave me the car and had me drive back home, and now I have get it back up there whenever they get my parts. I've been accommodated in no way for the misleading instruction, and lack of consideration driving a car back and forth that had a active recall; INFORMATION REDACTED PURSUANT TO THE FREEDOM OF INFORMATION ACT (FOIA), 5 U.S.C. 552(B)(6)

ELECTRICAL SYSTEM PROBLEM

  • Date Of Incident: 2024-01-12
  • VIN: KNAE55LC7K6
  • Components: ELECTRICAL SYSTEM
  • Summary: I have gone to Joe Myers Kia no less than 5 times in the last 4 years asking them for assistance in performing the repairs for the recall associated with my vehicle (NHTSA Recall Number 20V518000). The first two times in 2020, they claimed supply chain issues and said they couldn't get the part(s) for the repair. The next 2 times, the took down my VIN and phone number and said they needed to order the part and they'd call me when it came in. They never called. The last time I was there, they insisted that they needed an 8 hour appointment to simply verify that my car was eligible for, and needed, the recall, and then another 8 hour appointment to do the repair. I am not able to give up my car for 2 days, without a loaner, for a 2-3 hour repair job (as approximated in the recall text).

SERVICE BRAKES PROBLEM

  • Date Of Incident: 2022-08-05
  • VIN: KNAE35LCXK6
  • Components: SERVICE BRAKES
  • Summary: I only have 16,2000 miles on this car and for a while now after driving for 10-15 minutes I get a good shaking out of the front end and steering wheel when I use the brakes. I have no problems when the car is cold (less then 10 miles). I gets to the point I am worried there is something wrong with the car. I have started using the paddle shifters to downshift to help slow the car down because I don't want to use the brakes so much. I am not sure if this is a maintenance issue that requires new brakes pads or rotors. Are there any known issues with the brakes on 2019 KIA Stingers that I need to be worried about? Am I required to replace pads or rotors at a certain mileage? Is this something I need to take to a dealer to have inspected? I don't recall when I first noticed this issue so I will add today's date and today's mileage on the car but it has been happening for many months before I started to get concerned.

EXTERIOR LIGHTING,VISIBILITY/WIPER PROBLEM

  • Date Of Incident: 2019-01-01
  • VIN: KNAE55LC9K6
  • Components: EXTERIOR LIGHTING,VISIBILITY/WIPER
  • Summary: ****BIG safety issue. Headlights low visibility- doesn't shine far enough ahead to avoid any possible collision w/ pedestrian/vehicle. Headlights seem to shine down more and not far enough up ahead. I've avoided driving at night all together due to this safety issue. I do NOT have vision issues- it is the vehicle itself. There is no way to adjust headlights unless the car is physically taken apart and manually done. I've almost hit a pedestrian at high speed and barely stopped. There was no extended visibility up ahead to react and stop more safely. Very dangerous. I don't understand why the headlights were positioned in this manner.

VISIBILITY/WIPER PROBLEM

  • Date Of Incident: 2021-04-09
  • VIN: KNAE45LCXK6
  • Components: VISIBILITY/WIPER
  • Summary: EARLIER TODAY WHILE DRIVING ON THE TOLLWAY I HEARD A LOUD NOISE(SOMEWHAT LIKE A BLOW OUT) I PUT ON MY HAZARDS AND PULLED OVER. I EXITED THE TOLLWAY TO FIND THE SUNROOF SHATTERED WITH A HUGE HOLE!!! THANK GOD I HAD THE SHADE CLOSED! THIS IS THE SUNROOF, NOT ONE OF THE WINDOWS OR WINDSHIELD!! THERE WAS NOT MUCH TRAFFIC AND I KNOW NOTHING HIT THE CAR AT ALL. I VISITED THE DEALERSHIP WHERE THE ADVISOR INFORMED ME THAT THE MANAGER SAID THIS IS COMMON AND SHOULD BE UNDER WARRANTY AND THEY WOULD TAKE THE CAR IN TO INSPECT IT. THERE WAS AN HOUR AND A HALF WAIT SO THEY SHUTTLED ME HOME. AFTER ABOUT 5 HOURS I CALLED TO CHECK ON THE STATUS AND WAS NOW TOLD THAT IT WAS NOT COVERED AND I WOULD HAVE TO FILE A CLAIM WITH MY INSURANCE, AND NO EXPLANATION OF THE REVERSAL, SO I DID CALL TO FILE A CLAIM WITH MY INSURANCE COMPANY. I ALSO DID AN INTERNET SEARCH AND FOUND OUT WHAT THE SERVICE RECEPTIONIST SAID WAS TRUE! THIS HAS HAPPENED BEFORE WITH KIA AND OTHER VEHICLES WHICH IS UNBELIEVABLE!!! BECAUSE, IN THIS CASE, KIA KNOWS ABOUT THIS PROBLEM, THEY SHOULD BE HELD RESPONSIBLE, AT LEAST BY HAVING IT REPAIRED UNDER WARRANTY EVEN IF THERE IS NO RECALL YET. THIS SHOULD NOT BE THE RESPONSIBILITY OF MY INSURANCE OR ME! PLEASE DO NOT ALLOW THEM TO WAIT UNTIL SOMEONE IS SERIOUSLY HURT OR WORSE.

CHECK ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON AND CAR WENT INTO LIMP HOME MODE AND PULLING ERROR CODES P061B, P0172, P2178, P2180 WHICH WERE THE SAME CODES FROM FEBRUARY 18, 2020. CAR WAS TOWED TO DEALER JANUARY 27, 2020, AND FOR TWO DAYS THE DEALER HAS NOT BEEN ABLE TO FIND THE ISSUE. I DO NOT CONSIDER THIS CAR SAFE TO DRIVE. THERE'S AN ELECTRICAL ISSUE THAT CAN NOT BE FOUND AND NOT KNOWING IF CAR IS GOING TO STALL OR GO INTO LIMP HOME MODE IS A TERRIFYING WAY TO DRIVE.

I CONTACTED MY DEALERSHIP TO ASK FOR ANY OTHER INFORMATION, AND WAS SPECIFICALLY TOLD TO BRING MY CAR IN TO THEIR DEALERSHIP (WHERE I PURCHASED THE CAR BRAND NEW JUST A YEAR PRIOR). UPON ARRIVING AT THE DEALERSHIP, I WAS TOLD THAT THERE WAS NOTHING THAT COULD BE DONE, AND I SHOULD DRIVE MY FLAMMABLE, 2019 VEHICLE HOME. THE VEHICLE HAS NOT EXPLODED YET, BUT I'M CAUTIOUS TO DRIVE IT NOW, FOR FEAR OF BURNING ALIVE ON MY WAY TO WORK ANY GIVEN MORNING. Negative 2019 Kia Stinger car reviews

I hope you're doing well! I wanted to share my experience with my 2019 Stinger GTS. I absolutely love this car and take great care of it, only driving it on nice days and storing it indoors during the winter. Unfortunately, I did experience some issues with the car that required some attention. When I took it in for an oil change at 7,000 miles, the technician noticed an oil leak at the rear of the engine. KIA decided to replace the entire engine, which took some time but was covered under warranty. After storing the car from October to March, I noticed some issues with the turbos or gaskets, which KIA was able to fix after a couple of weeks. Recently, I took the car in for service at 13,000 miles and the engine light came on. While it took some time to diagnose the issue, KIA was able to determine that it was a computer problem and is working to resolve it. While it has been a bit of a journey, I am confident that KIA will be able to resolve the issue and get me back on the road soon. Thank you for taking the time to listen to my experience!

I recently leased a GT AWD, which I thought was my dream car, after trading in my 16 optima lease a year early. Unfortunately, within a month of purchase, the rear defroster unit shorted out and was supposedly fixed by the dealership where I bought the car. However, on my way to work on 5/14, the rear defroster shorted out again. I immediately called the dealership to schedule another appointment to fix it. On my way back home, I noticed smoke coming from the back of the car. I pulled over and opened the hatchback to see that the entire right side of the truck was on fire and flames shot out of the car, burning my hand. The car burned to the frame within 3 minutes. An investigation was done on the car with the NHTSA, fire investigators, Kia's engineers, and the dealership, and Kia accepted responsibility for the cause of the fire, which was a faulty rear defroster assembly unit. However, I have been struggling to get a response from Kia and my case manager has refused to reply to my emails or phone calls. Kia's offer to make things right was my initial down payment on the lease only if I signed a gag order to never discuss what happened. I have tried numerous times to escalate the issue, but I am told that my case worker at Kia doesn't have a boss and then they just hang up on me or my wife. This car has a fatal defect and Kia needs to take responsibility before someone dies in this car! I have contacted several legal firms and I am also contacting every local news investigation team in the state to try and save people's lives. At this point, it's not just about the money. Kia is selling vehicles that they know are not safe and can kill people.

I was hesitant about spending $48k on a Kia, but my wife really wanted it, so I bought it for her. Unfortunately, I haven't been too impressed with it. The depreciation is quite high and I had to replace the front pads and rotors with aftermarket parts at only 14k miles. The OEM pads are substandard and create hot spots on the rotors, which is a common issue among owners. Recently, the car went into limp mode at 16k miles while I was driving on the highway, which was quite concerning. Although the dealership couldn't find anything wrong, it was difficult to find information on Kia roadside assistance trip interruption. I've had some trouble with customer service as well. I offered to sell the car back to the dealership, but unfortunately, they declined without even discussing the price. I'm planning on selling the car as soon as possible, assuming it doesn't break down again. Overall, my experience with the Stinger has been disappointing and I wouldn't recommend it to others.

Positive 2019 Kia Stinger car reviews

I am absolutely loving my Stinger GT2 RWD with 1000 miles on it! I have been following the Kia brand for a while now and even bought my daughter a used 2017 Kia Optima 12 months ago. I was really impressed with the car, even though it was pretty much the base model. Since the Stinger's introduction in 2018, I have been interested in it. Like most people, I had trouble thinking about paying $50k for a KIA. However, I finally decided to go for it and got a ceramic silver with red leather interior. The color combination is fantastic! You can actually get some great deals on the Stinger if you look for them. It is hard to find any negative road test reviews on this car. I scoured all of the YouTube reviews and everything I could find to complete my research. People absolutely love this car! Since I bought the second model year, I am hopeful that any problems have been fixed. There were some rattle issues on the 2018 model in the hatch and sunroof, but most are being rectified by the dealers under warranty. Luckily, I have not experienced any squeaks or rattles in my 2019 model. I have owned Audi's and BMW's, and I can confidently say that this car is the real deal. It has a luxury-oriented ride and can be sporty when you want it to be. The engine is an absolute blast! This car moves! You might find yourself getting more speeding tickets if you are not careful. Slamming the accelerator down to merge on an on-ramp is too much fun. The torque is great, and this thing pulls like a train. However, be careful, as you will pay at the pump for this type of driving style. During my break-in mileage, I averaged 24.2 MPG with mixed highway and city driving, which is not too bad for 365HP. However, putting your foot down will put you closer to 19-20 MPG. The interior build quality and materials are on par with the Germans. If you really do your research and drive this car, I think you will end up buying one. I also have a 2006 Porsche 911S for my fun weekend car, but I can tell you that the Stinger is keeping me out of my weekend drives in the 911 since it is so much fun!

My 2019 Stinger Premium AWD is amazing! I've owned an 11-15-16 Optimum 2.0, but the 2019 Kia Stinger is definitely the best one yet! I highly recommend this Kia to everyone. It has all the bells and whistles, including a roll bar with an airbag in the roof - now that's what I call safety!

  3. Jimmie Padberg 2024-11-07

Good speed and handling for a 4 cylinder. The gas mileage of 29.4 on the highway is not bad at all. I am retired but now I look forward to running errands and going on occasional dates. I plan to upgrade to a 2023 4 cylinder with 300 horsepower in 2025. I have only owned it for 4 weeks, but I will keep you updated!

  4. Oren Hayes 2024-10-28

After driving it for a few days, I must say that it's an excellent vehicle. I had so much fun with it and would definitely recommend it to anyone who would like to try a Kia.

  5. Solon Harber 2024-09-29

Quality and attention to detail are five-star! Considering what you get for the price point versus the competition, it's a no-brainer. I've owned it for almost 2 years and have no complaints. Period.
