2007 Land rover Range rover problems
The Land Rover Range Rover, generally shortened to Range Rover, is a 4x4 luxury SUV produced by Land Rover, a marque and sub-brand of Jaguar Land Rover. The Range Rover line was launched in 1970 by British Leyland and is now in its fifth generation.
Additional models have been launched under the Range Rover name, including the Range Rover Sport, Range Rover Evoque, and Range Rover Velar.
History
The Rover Company (originator of the Land Rover marque) was experimenting with a larger model than the Land Rover Series in 1951, when the Rover P4-based two-wheel-drive "Road Rover" project was developed by Gordon Bashford. This was shelved in 1958 and the idea lay dormant until 1966, when engineers Spen King and Bashford set to work on a new model.
The first Range Rover prototype was built in 1967 with plate number SYE 157F. The design of the Range Rover was finalised in 1969. Twenty-six Velar-badged engineering development vehicles were built between 1969 and 1970 and were road registered with the number plates YVB151H through to YVB177H.
Though being chassis no. 3, YVB 153H is believed to have been the first off the production line as a vehicle in that colour was urgently required for marketing. (The Range Rover with chassis no. 1 was a green model with the registration "YVB 151H", and is now on exhibition at Huddersfield Land Rover Centre, Huddersfield, West Yorkshire). The Velar name was derived from the Italian "velare" meaning to veil or to cover. Range Rover development engineer Geof Miller used the name as a decoy for registering pre-production Range Rovers. The Velar company was registered in London and produced 40 pre-production vehicles that were built between 1967 and 1970.
The Range Rover was launched in 1970. In the early 1970s, the Musée du Louvre in Paris exhibited a Range Rover as an "exemplary work of industrial design".
In 1971, ex-Cream drummer Ginger Baker used the unproven Range Rover to drive from Algeria to Lagos, Nigeria, to set up a recording studio and jam with Fela Kuti. Predating the Paris-Dakar rally the subsequent documentary is replete with such terrain, documenting the vehicle's endurance.
In 1972, the British Trans-Americas Expedition became the first vehicle-based expedition to traverse the Americas from north to south, including traversing the roadless Darién Gap. The specially modified Range Rovers used for this expedition are now on display in the British Motor Industry Heritage Trust collection at Gaydon, Warwickshire.
Range Rover sub-brands have been launched. In 2004, Land Rover debuted the Range Rover Sport, based on the Land Rover Discovery platform. Later models received the latest Range Rover platform. In 2011 came the Range Rover Evoque, and in 2017 the Range Rover Velar (re-using the name of the very first, pre-production Range Rovers).

Common 2007 Land rover Range rover problems
The Land Rover Range Rover 2007 is a luxury SUV known for its off-road capabilities and sleek design. However, like any vehicle, it has its share of common problems that owners have reported over the years.
One of the most common problems with the Range Rover is front differential failure. This issue is caused by the propshaft coupling wearing out, which leaves the car without drive to the front wheels. This problem can be resolved by checking the service history to ensure that the car has had this issue fixed under warranty.
Another common issue with the Range Rover is the standard air suspension, which can suffer failures due to leaks in the system. The compressor is often the cause of these failures. It's essential to check that the car responds when switching between the three settings and that it stays at the chosen height when parked. Leaks in the system will show if there are any issues with the air suspension.
All Range Rovers have automatic gearboxes, which are generally very robust. However, there have been a few reports of premature failures. It's essential to check the service history to ensure that the car has not had any gearbox issues.
The rear hub bushes can also wear out, causing a clonking noise over bumps. This issue is more common in cars with 20-inch wheels or bigger, as they are more prone to suspension wear.
The Range Rover typically needs new brake pads every 30,000 miles, which is 5,000 miles earlier than the average luxury SUV. However, it's usually more than 100,000 miles before the air conditioning needs re-gassing. Serviceable items such as bulbs, fuel filters, pollen filters, and brake fluid are all long-lasting.
The air suspension can also cause headaches due to aging air suspension components like air shocks, height sensors, or a compressor. The components aren't expensive, but the labor can be expensive depending on the shop rate and how much the owner can do themselves.
The L322 Range Rover has a complex suspension set up, which makes it inevitable that there will be issues now and then. From air springs to compressors to height sensors, the air suspension is an over-engineered system capable of constantly adjusting itself to make sure everything is level. However, this also means that it will fail at some point in its life, usually multiple times
In summary, the Land Rover Range Rover 2007 is a luxury SUV with several common problems that owners have reported. These issues include front differential failure, air suspension failures, automatic gearbox failures, and brake pad wear. It's essential to check the service history and address these issues promptly to ensure the car remains in good condition.
Is a 2007 Land Rover reliable?
Very reliable
I never got stuck anywhere. It just did what it was designed to do. I took it off-road several times. The Range Rover took everything in stride from dirt to snow to ice off-roading.
What is the common problem with Range Rover?
Range Rover Sport problems span a wide range of areas, centring on the suspension, engine, engine electrics, air conditioning, sat-nav, car electrics, gearbox, drivetrain and bodywork. Leaks from the engine, sunroof and around the tailgate are also known issues.
How many miles will a 2007 Range Rover last?
With detailed maintenance, routine servicing, and good driving habits, a Range Rover can last between 150,000 and 200,000 miles. This works out to be about ten to thirteen years of service before it requires repairs or breaks down.
Is the Land Rover Range Rover a reliable car?

VEHICLE SPEED CONTROL,SERVICE BRAKES PROBLEM
- Date Of Incident: 2016-02-19
- Number Of Injuries: 3
- Crash: 1
- VIN: SALMF15427A
- Components: VEHICLE SPEED CONTROL,SERVICE BRAKES
- Summary: I WAS DRIVING AT A SPEED OF ABOUT 25MPH ON A CITY STREET AND BEGAN TO BRAKE GENTLY AS I WAS APPROACHING A RED LIGHT. THE DISTANCE BETWEEN MY CAR AND THE CAR IN FRONT OF ME AT THE TIME I BEGAN BRAKING WAS OVER 3-CARS-LENGTH, BUT NOT MORE THAN 4. THIS WAS NOT AN ABRUPT STOP. AS I APPLIED THE BRAKE I COULD FEEL IT BEGAN TO SHUDDER AND THE CAR WAS NOT SLOWING DOWN. I PRESSED THE BRAKE MORE FIRMLY AND WHILE IT DID RESPOND MORE SO THAN BEFORE, THE CAR WAS BY NO MEANS SLOWING DOWN AT A FAST ENOUGH RATE CONSIDERING HOW LONG I HAD BEEN APPLYING THE BRAKE AND THE FACT THAT I WAS ONLY TRAVELING AT 25MPH TO BEGIN WITH. I FELT A PULSATING THAT BECAME INCREASINGLY PRONOUNCED AND EVENTUALLY THE BRAKE FELT AS THOUGH IT WAS LOCKED IN PLACE AND UNRESPONSIVE TO MY APPLICATION OF FURTHER PRESSURE. THE CAR WAS SLOWING DOWN BUT IT WAS NOT DOING SO AT THE NORMAL RATE. IT WOULD HAVE LIKELY REQUIRED 2-3 TIMES THE NORMAL DISTANCE TO COME TO A COMPLETE STOP. HOWEVER, THE BRAKES WERE TOO INEFFECTIVE TO HAVE REASONABLY ANTICIPATED (BY A LONG SHOT) AND I REAR ENDED THE CAR IN FRONT OF ME THAT HAD COME TO NEARLY A COMPLETE STOP AT THAT POINT. AT THE TIME OF IMPACT MY CAR HAD ONLY SLOWED DOWN BY AT THE MOST 70%. BOTH MY CAR AND THE CAR I REAR ENDED WERE TOTALED. AT NO TIME PRIOR TO OR UPON IMPACT DID ANY WARNING LIGHT OR INDICATOR APPEAR ON THE CAR. NOTHING FOREWARNED ME THAT MY BRAKES WERE AT ALL COMPROMISED. THE CAR WAS TOTALED AND DMV RECORDS WILL SHOW ALL OF THAT INFO. THIS IS A SERIOUS PROBLEM THAT COULD BE CATASTROPHIC IF NOT INVESTIGATED. RANGE ROVERS ARE EXTREMELY HEAVY VEHICLES WHICH MAKES A BREAKING SYSTEM FAILURE EVEN MORE DANGEROUS THAN IT ALREADY IS. LAND ROVER HAS DENIED ANY DEFECTS OR OTHER MANUFACTURER FAULTS. I WAS INJURED WITH PERMANENT NECK PAIN LIKELY AS A RESULT OF THE AIRBAGS FAILURE TO DEPLOY. AND THE PASSENGERS IN THE IMPACTED VEHICLE SUSTAINED NOTABLE INJURIES AS WELL.

AIR BAGS PROBLEM
- Date Of Incident: 2016-07-29
- VIN: SALMF13467A
- Components: AIR BAGS
- Summary: TAKATA RECALL. THIS CAR IS KEPT IN SAN BERNARDINO COUNTY, CALIFORNIA, WHERE THERE ARE LARGE FLUCTUATIONS OF TEMPERATURE AND PERIODS OF HIGH HUMIDITY IN BOTH SUMMER AND WINTER. THE CAR IS TEN YEARS OLD. THE DEADLINE FOR RECEIPT OF NEW, NON-DEFECTIVE AIRBAG KEEPS GETTING PUSHED BACK. THE LATEST IS "MAYBE THIS YEAR" (PER RANGE ROVER REPRESENTATIVE KATHLEEN VACCARRO, 201 818 8080). WHEN PRESSED, VACCARRO CONCEDES THAT WHAT IT BOILS DOWN TO IS THAT RANGE ROVER HAS MADE THE JUDGMENT THAT IT IS OK FOR ITS CUSTOMERS TO BE DRIVING A VEHICLE WITH A DEFECTIVE AIRBAG FOR AN INDEFINITE PERIOD OF TIME. WHEN PRESSED, SHE CONCEDES (AS ANYONE HAS TO CONCEDE) THAT NO-ONE KNOWS THE POINT AT WHICH THE INFLATOR WILL HAVE DEGRADED AND WILL EXPLODE. IF I WANTED TO GO SKYDIVING AND TRUST THAT THE PARACHUTE USUALLY OPENS, THEN THAT IS MY DECISION. WHAT RANGE ROVER IS DOING IS MAKING THAT DECISION FOR ME, AGAINST MY WILL. WHAT IS NHTSA DOING ABOUT THIS? THIS APPEARS TO BE ABOUT MONEY. HOWEVER, "MONEY" IS NOT IN YOUR NAME. "SAFETY" IS IN YOUR NAME. SO WHERE IS THE SAFETY?

SUSPENSION,ENGINE AND ENGINE COOLING PROBLEM
- Date Of Incident: 2015-02-26
- VIN: SALMF15447A
- Components: SUSPENSION,ENGINE AND ENGINE COOLING
- Summary: TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2007 LAND ROVER RANGE ROVER. WHILE DRIVING AT 45 MPH, THE VEHICLE WAS ABNORMALLY CLOSER TO THE GROUND ON THE PASSENGER SIDE. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO A DEALER WHERE THE COMPRESSOR KIT, THE MACPHERSON STRUT, AND THE RADIATOR TANK WERE REPLACED. THE FAILURE RECURRED ON THE DRIVER SIDE OF THE VEHICLE APPROXIMATELY ONE MONTH AFTER THE INITIAL REPAIRS. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED BACK TO THE DEALER, WHO STATED THAT THE PARTS THAT WERE PREVIOUSLY REPLACED WERE DEFECTIVE AGAIN. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED, BUT THE FAILURE RECURRED APPROXIMATELY THREE MONTHS LATER. AS A RESULT, THE ELECTRICAL FUNCTIONS ON THE PASSENGER SIDE OF THE VEHICLE FAILED TO OPERATE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 94,000.
ENGINE PROBLEM
- Date Of Incident: 2015-01-14
- VIN: SALMF15497A
- Components: ENGINE
- Summary: ABOUT TWO MONTHS AGO I STARTED THE SUV AND ATTEMPTED TO DRIVE TO A NEAR BY STORE. AFTER PULLING OUT OF MY SMALL SUBDIVISION, I NOTICED THE CAR WOULDN'T ACCELERATE AND WAS MAKING AN AWFUL METAL-TICKING TYPE SOUND (LIKE METAL-ON-METAL). I THEN NOTICED SMOKE POURING OUT FROM UNDERNEATH THE FRONT OF THE CAR. I COULD NOT SEE WHAT COLOR IT WAS SINCE IT WAS DARK OUT. I THEN IMMEDIATELY TURNED AROUND, DROVE HOME, AND TURNED THE CAR OF. TOTAL TRIP TIME WAS APPROXIMATELY 5 MINUTES, TOTAL DISTANCE WAS APPROXIMATELY 1 MILE. WHEN I GOT HOME AND GOT OUT OF THE CAR, I NOTICED A DARK LIQUID POURING OUT OF THE BOTTOM-CENTER PART OF THE ENGINE COMPARTMENT. I ALSO SAW A TRAIL OF DARK LIQUID FROM MY DRIVE HOME UPON RE-ENTERING MY SUBDIVISION. THE NEXT DAY, I HAD THE CAR TOWED TO THE LAST INDEPENDENT MECHANIC SHOP THAT WORKED ON THE CAR (IN CASE IT WAS THEIR FAULT), AND WHEN THE CAR WAS HOISTED ONTO THE FLAT-BED, TONS OF OIL POURED OUT FROM THAT SAME AREA, IN THE BOTTOM-CENTER REGION OF THE ENGINE COMPARTMENT. WHEN THE MECHANICS GOT AROUND TO INSPECTING THE CAR, THEY SAID THAT A CONNECTING ROD HAD BROKEN INSIDE THE MOTOR AND PUNCHED A HOLE THROUGH THE BOTTOM-SIDE OF THE BLOCK, WHICH IS PROBABLY WHY I HEARD THAT METAL-TICKING NOISE AND ALSO WHY LIQUID, OR MOTOR OIL, BEGAN SPILLING OUT THE BOTTOM OF THE ENGINE. THE MECHANICS SAID THAT THIS TYPE OF ISSUE COULD BE CAUSE BY NOT HAVING ENOUGH OIL IN THE MOTOR AND CAN ALSO BE DUE TO THE ENGINE'S AGE. THEY INSISTED THAT, THOUGH IT'S VERY ODD THIS INCIDENT OCCURRED LESS THAN 800 MILES AFTER THEY CHANGED THE OIL, THEY WERE EXTREMELY THOROUGH AND CAREFUL, AND EXPLAINED TO ME THEIR OIL CHANGING PROCEDURES, WHICH WAS MORE COMPLEX THAN I WOULD HAVE IMAGINED (REMOVING OLD OIL AND FILTER, ADDING NEW OIL AND FILTER, STARTING CAR TO WARM UP, DRIVING CAR, CHECKING OIL LEVEL AGAIN, ETC.). *TR

SUSPENSION PROBLEM
- Date Of Incident: 2007-01-12
- VIN: SALSH23427A
- Components: SUSPENSION
- Summary: LAND ROVER'S RANGE ROVER SPORT SUPERCHARGED WAS DESIGNED WITH A HYDRAULIC SUSPSENSION SYSTEM THAT BREAKS DOWN AFTER OR AROUND JUST 1000 MILES. AFTER A CUSTOMER HAS PURCHASED A NEW SPORT FROM LAND ROVER, LAND ROVER IS STIFFING ALL OF IT'S CUSTOMERS WITH THESE CARS AND CALLING THE KNOCKING AND CLUNKING "NORMAL". THIS IS TOTALLY AND UTTERLY OFFENSIVE, I HAVE ALREADY LEMON LAWED MY FIRST 2006 SPORT. OUT OF GOOD WILL AND APPRECIATION FOR THE BRAND, I PURCHASED A 2007 SPORT SUPERCHARGED THE VERY SAME DAY I TURNED IN MY 2006 IN HOPES THAT THEY HAD CORRECTED THE ISSUE AND/OR MY ISSUE WITH MY 2006 WAS JUST A FLUKE. I WAS WRONG, LAND ROVER HAS GIVEN MY ATTORNEY AND I THE COLD SHOULDER, THEY HAVE SPECIFICALLY TOLD MY LOCAL REPAIR CENTER NOT TO REPAIR MY CAR!!! I AM DISGUSTED BY THIS COMPANIES BUSINESS AND CUSTOMER RELATIONS PRACTICES AND AM LOOKING INTO FILING A JOINT CLASS ACTION LAWSUIT AGAINST LAND ROVER. THE PARTS OF THE CAR THAT ARE DEFECTIVE ARE CALLED THE DYNAMIC RESPONSE SYSTEM. MY 2007 SPORT HAD IT'S ENTIRE SUSPENSION SYSTEM REPLACED AT JUST 3 WEEKS AFTER OWNERSHIP AT 1000 MILES YET IT STILL CONTINUES TO GIVE ME TROUBLE. I HAVE NOT HAD THE CAR FOR 13 MONTHS AND LAND ROVER HAS MADE TO EFFORT TO DO RIGHT BY ONE OF THEIR YOUNG AND LOYAL CUSTOMERS. I AM FILING THIS COMPLAINT WITH THE NHTSA BECAUSE THIS CAR DOES NOT SOUND OR FEEL SAFE TO DRIVE. I HAVE ALREADY BEEN IN A HIGHWAY SPEED ACCIDENT WHEN I WAS MUCH YOUNGER AND DO NOT WANT TO RISK EVER HAVING TO GO THROUGH THAT AGAIN. I HAVE EMAILED LAND ROVER CLIPS OF MY CAR MAKING THE LOUND CLUNKING NOISE, I HAVE ALSO DEMONSTRATED THE CLUNKING TO A LAND ROVER REPRESENTATIVE. LAND ROVER HAS DECIDED THAT A RECALL WOULD COST THEM TOO MUCH MONEY AND ARE STIFFING THEIR CUSTOMERS WHO SHELL OUT CLOSE TO $100K FOR THIS CAR. *CN

Everyone looks at you differently than if you were driving a Lexus (ho-hum, been there done that). This is the best looking large SUV ever made, with gorgeous color combinations. I averaged 22 hwy when in cruise control. The navigation system is simple and the sound system is amazing, with a Harmon Kardon 715 watts and Logic 7. Stop it!!!

I absolutely loved driving the s/c V8 beast after having driven diesel landrovers for 3 years. The acceleration is phenomenal and it's easy to exceed national speed limits without even realizing it. While going around corners fast in such a large vehicle can be quite an experience, the stopping power is really good (thank goodness). The fuel consumption is quite high, with a maximum overall of 15 mpg and a town drive of around 11 mpg. The best I ever got was 22 on a motorway. But hey, the overall drive is just fantastic! Sometimes I just pull away flat out just to listen to the V8. I even pulled a coach off the road once, which surprised me too. The performance is supreme, and if you can afford one, I highly recommend going for it!

The moment you get behind the wheel, you'll know this is the vehicle made for you. The style, both interior and exterior, is superb. It drives like a luxury sedan and is quick like a sports car. It's one of the most fun cars you'll ever own. You'll feel extraordinarily safe driving in the recent torrential rainstorms in your area. It handles extremely well in bad weather.

Congratulations on your 3rd Land Rover! It's great to hear that you've owned a Discovery I, a 2000 Range, and now this one, and that you love them all. It's amazing how they never cease to amaze you. You must feel like royalty driving this SUV, as it handles like a sedan on the road and can go anywhere off-road. The classic design of the Range Rover is timeless, with no overabundance of plastic parts like some Asian SUVs and no crazy body lines to take away from the Land Rover look. The new Jag engine is plenty fast, and the 6-speed transmission helps out, especially compared to your 2000 4.6 Range. While there may be some reliability issues, it's clear that they are worth it to drive this car. And did I mention that you feel like a king in this SUV? Enjoy the ride!

I love the look of the Range Rover and its off-road capabilities are impressive. However, my personal experience with this car has been frustrating due to its unreliability. Unfortunately, I have been informed by my service advisors that there are known electrical problems that cannot be fixed. Despite this, I appreciate the car's strengths and will continue to enjoy it as much as possible.

It looks like the transmission slips quite dramatically to 3rd at 60 mph and the engine light came on at 1000 miles due to a mass airflow issue. Could you please help me understand what might be wrong with this vehicle? I noticed that the 300 horsepower claim for the HSE model seems like a blatant lie when compared to the BMW X3. Do you think there might be a recall for this issue?

I bought a 2006 RR with 135K miles in mint condition, 2 owners, and proper maintenance. I did this because my 17-year-old daughter is a car lover like her dad, but I was aware that RR's were known for their poor quality and reliability, and were very expensive to work on. Within the first 2 weeks, one of the front air suspension struts blew out, which cost $800 to repair. The basic oil change was $150. The front brakes needed replacement, but the British mechanic said that the RR rotors could not be turned, so only new ones were available. I became suspicious of this mechanic and took it to my regular mechanic, who simply put on aftermarket brake pads, which still cost way less (still $250) than the $800 the Owned an 86 Bentley Mulsanne for a year just for fun but just after one minor repair it costs $2000, so got that out of my car loving system. English make some beautiful cars but some of the most unreliable and expensive to work on. Got disgusted with American cars as well despite trying to Sold the RR within 3 weeks just to save my money and sanity! It pays to make smart choices and I'm glad I did. I got her a 2007 Infiniti FX35 which is also a great car, and even better than the RR in some ways, except for the view height of sitting high in the RR.

My husband bought this car as a gift, but unfortunately, it turned out to be a lemon. The engine kept cutting off, and we were told it was due to altitude problems, so they added a chip. The navigation system went insane, but thankfully, they were able to fix it by adding another chip. The radio also got stuck on a single station and wouldn't turn off, but it was eventually fixed. Unfortunately, the computer system was changing commands by itself, and the car spent more time at the shop than with us. We were finally able to get a new car through trade assist, and we've had this one for 3 weeks now. The engine light came on the other day, but they assured us it was nothing. We'll see...

The Range Rover was designed to address the issues of its predecessors, but unfortunately, my personal experience has not been satisfactory. Despite purchasing a new vehicle, I have encountered repeated problems such as the 'check coolant' light, an oil service reminder that would not reset, and a persistent 'Suspension System Fault' that has yet to be resolved. While my dealer has been great, it is clear that Land Rover has some build problems to address. Although the car is well-designed and enjoyable to drive, its reliability falls short of expectations for a vehicle in this price range. As a result, I have decided to move on from Land Rover, as this is the second time I have experienced such issues in just three model years.
