ELECTRICAL SYSTEM PROBLEM

  • Date Of Incident: 2010-08-21
  • VIN: 2C3HD46J8XH
  • Components: ELECTRICAL SYSTEM
  • Summary: SINCE 2010, THE CAR HAS HAD MANY ELECTRICAL ISSUES THAT HAVE RESULTED IN OVER 5,000 DOLLARS IN REPAIRS AND THE PROBLEMS CONTINUE TO PERSIST. IN 2010, THE CAR BEGAN HAVING INTERMITTENT LIGHTING ISSUES AND FAILURE OF THE TRUNK LATCH OPENING MECHANISM. IN AUG 2010, THE BCM WAS FIXED/REPLACED. SINCE THEN, THE A/C HAS BECOME THE PROBLEM THAT HAS LED TO THOUSAND OF DOLLARS OF REPAIRS. THE PROBLEM IS THAT INTERMITTENTLY THE A/C WILL NOT RESPOND TO CHANGES IN THE TEMPERATURE CONTROLS AND ONLY 180 DEGREE AIR COMES OUT. THE DEALER HAS REPLACED ALMOST ALL MECHANICAL PARTS OF THE A/C AND THE ELECTRICAL CONTROLS WITH THE EXCEPTION OF THE BCM. THE PROBLEM CONTINUES AND NOW THE SO CALL NEW BCM IS NO LONGER UNDER WARRANTY. *TR

SEATS PROBLEM

  • Date Of Incident: 2014-07-07
  • VIN: 2C3HD46JXXH
  • Components: SEATS
  • Summary: I FOUND FIVE RECALLS ON THE SAFECAR.GOV SITE, YET I HAVE NEVER BEEN NOTIFIED OF ANY OF THEM. IN APPROXIMATELY 2000-2001, I HAD A FAILURE OF THE DRIVER'S SEAT, WHILE TRYING TO MOVE THE SEAT BACK FOR MORE ROOM, WHERE THE BACK FELL ALL THE WAY DOWN TO A RECLINING POSITION. I WAS NOT ABLE TO MAKE IT STAY UP. THE DEALER AT THE TME REPAIRED IT AT AN APPROXIMATE COST OF $1,100.00. SOMETIME LATER, I READ IN THE NEWSPAPER LATER ABOUT A RECALL FOR THE SEATS, AND TOOK IT TO JOLIET DODGE, JOLIET, IL, WHO IS NOW OUT OF BUSINESS. THEY REFUSED TO DO ANYTHING, TELLING ME I HAD ALREADY HAD IT FIXED, AND REFUSING TO REIMBURSE ME FOR THE COST TO REPAIR. FAST FORWARD TO JULY 2014. WHEN TRYING TO MOVE THE SEAT BACK BY USING THE LEVER FOR THAT AND PUSHING BACK WITH MY BODY, THE SEAT BACK TOTALLY FAILED AGAIN. IT GOES ALL THE WAY DOWN, AND WILL NOT STAY UP. BECAUSE OF THE AGE OF THE CAR, AND THE FACT THAT I AM A RETIREE ON ONLY SOCIAL SECURITY FOR A VERY LIMITED INCOME, AND NOT BEING ABLE TO AFFORD THE COST TO REPAIR, I DID A HOME MADE FIX BY PUTTING MY LARGE PLASTIC COOLER ON THE FLOOR IN BACK OF THE SEAT TO HOLD IT UP. I AM LUCKY THIS HAPPENED WHILE THE CAR WAS IN PARK, NOT MOVING, ELSE I MIGHT HAVE HAD A TERRIBLE ACCIDENT. THE FIRST TIME IT OCCURRED, I WAS DRIVING, BUT HAD NO ACCIDENT.

EXTERIOR LIGHTING,STRUCTURE PROBLEM

  • Date Of Incident: 2013-09-03
  • Crash: 1
  • VIN: 2C3HD46J9XH
  • Components: EXTERIOR LIGHTING,STRUCTURE
  • Summary: I WAS PARKING ON A PARKING LOT AND LOT HAD A STRUCTURED SMALL POST ON THE DRIVER SIDE; DUE TO VISIBILITY THAT THE VEHICLE LAMP OMITTED TO LIGHT PROPERLY, I DAMAGED THE FRONT RIGHT CORNER BUMPER. I HAVE NOTICED THAT THE CORNER LAMP ASSEMBLIES HAVE A PROBLEM WITH THE REFLECTORS. THIS LAMP DOESN'T HAVE THE REQUIRED AMBER SIDE REFLECTORS DON'T WORK WELL CAUSE I CAN BARELY SEE (NOT LIKE MY OTHER CARS). THERE IS A RECALL SET ALREADY FOR PART NUMBER CS114-U0BJ2 WHICH IS A COMBINATION CORNER AND LAMP ASSEMBLY FOR THIS VEHICLE. I AM ASKED TO CONTACT SABERSPORT WHO IS DOING THE RECALL (RECALL ID#09E012000 EXTERIOR LIGHTING); HOWEVER, THEIR NUMBER IS DISCONNECTED AND THEIR ONLINE CONTACT NUMBER IS A WRONG NUMBER. AT THIS POINT, I DON'T THINK ITS RIGHT THAT I HAVE TO PAY FOR THESE REPAIRS. EVEN UPON REPAIRS,I NEED THE VEHICLE WITH CORRECT LAMP ASSEMBLY SO IT DOESN'T HAPPEN AGAIN. NEXT TIME, COULD BE A WORSE ACCIDENT. [XXX] INFORMATION REDACTED PURSUANT TO THE FREEDOM OF INFORMATION ACT (FOIA), 5 U.S.C. 552(B)(6). *TR

STRUCTURE,ELECTRONIC STABILITY CONTROL (ESC) PROBLEM

  • Date Of Incident: 2013-09-18
  • Number Of Injuries: 1
  • VIN: 2C3HD46J9XH
  • Components: STRUCTURE,ELECTRONIC STABILITY CONTROL (ESC)
  • Summary: YESTERDAY I HAD TO GO TO THE HOSPITAL BECAUSE THE TRUNK LID FELL ON MY NECK WHEN I WAS UNLOADING MY TRUNK. THIS CAR HAS AN ELECTRICAL TRUNK THAT OPENS AND THE TRUNK ALSO, HAS A SPRING AIR ROD THAT CONTROLS THE HOLD OF THE OPEN TRUNK. I KNOW THIS FAILED BECAUSE THE TRUNK JUST LOST ITS HOLD ALL OF A SUDDEN AND LANDED ON MY NECK. AS I TRIED TO LIFT IT FROM ABOVE ME (ITS VERY HEAVY- BIG TRUNK), MY LEFT HAND INDEX FINGER BROKE AND MY LEFT ARM AND HAND ARE IN PAIN. NOT TO MENTION, THE SEVERE PAIN I AM UNDERGOING WITH MY NECK. I ALSO BLED A LOT AND IMMEDIATELY WENT TO THE EMERGENCY ROOM. I BELIEVE THIS CAN BE A MANUFACTURING DEFECT DUE TO THE EXCESSIVE WEIGHT OF THIS TRUNK DOOR AND THE DEVICE BEING RELIED ON FOR THE CONTROL OF TRUNK. *TR

STRUCTURE,VISIBILITY/WIPER PROBLEM

  • Date Of Incident: 2013-08-08
  • VIN: 2C3HD46J9XH
  • Components: STRUCTURE,VISIBILITY/WIPER
  • Summary: THE MOLDING BETWEEN THE HOOD AND THE WINDSHIELD FLEW OFF AS I WAS DRIVING IN THE FREEWAY. I WAS DRIVING LIKE I NORMALLY DO ( APPROX. 65MPH), WHEN FWY IS CLEAR OF CARS; THIS IS NOT REASON ENOUGH FOR THIS CAR PART TO FLY OFF. LUCKILY, FWY WAS CLEAR, IF NOT, I COULD OF HAD AN ACCIDENT SINCE IT AFFECTED MY VISIBILITY WHILE DRIVING. ONCE I REPLACE THIS, I WONDER IF NEXT TIME... WILL I HAVE AN ACCIDENT? HOW TO ASK THEY INSTALL IT SO IT DOESN'T FLY OFF? DEALER SAYS THEY MUST INSTALL IT PER MANUFACTURER REQUIREMENTS BUT THE NORMAL WAY IT COMES FROM MANUFACTURER DOESN'T WORK CAUSE IT EVENTUALLY FLIES OFF. I NOTICED THERE ARE COUNTLESS COMPLAINTS REGARDING SAME ISSUE WITH NHTSA. HOW MANY COMPLAINTS ARE NECESSARY FOR IT TO BE RECALLED? *TR

ENGINE AND ENGINE COOLING PROBLEM

  • Date Of Incident: 2008-09-11
  • VIN: 2C3HD46R1XH
  • Components: ENGINE AND ENGINE COOLING
  • Summary: HERE IS A COPY OF OUR SALES TICKET THAT EXPLAINS ALL OF THE UPDATES THAT WE PERFORM ON THIS ENGINE. HOPEFULLY THIS WILL HELP YOU. IF YOU HAVE ANY FURTHER QUESTIONS FEEL FREE TO CONTACT OUR CUSTOMER SERVICE DEPARTMENT AT 1-800-827-7450. --OIL STARVATION IS A PROBLEM WITH THIS ENGINE, SO JASPER INSTALLS THE NEWEST DESIGN OIL LINE WHICH HAS A LARGER DIAMETER PIPE TO ALLOW MORE OIL FLOW AND BETTER LUBRICATION. THE NEWER DESIGN PIPE HAS ONE GENTLE BEND OPPOSED TO THE ORIGINAL WHICH HAD TWO 90-DEGREE BENDS WHICH TENDS TO RESTRICT TO OIL FLOW. --TO PREVENT BEARING FAILURE JASPER INSTALLS ALUMINUM ROD & MAIN BEARINGS INSTEAD OF TRI-METAL BEARINGS. THE ALUMINUM BEARINGS CONFORM TO THE MATING SURFACE MORE COMPLETELY, WHICH PROVIDES MORE EXACT CLEARANCES. THE ALUMINUM BEARINGS ARE ALSO MORE CORROSION RESISTANT. THE ORIGINAL TRI-METAL BEARINGS WERE PRONE TO NOT CONFORM WELL, WHICH LED TO DIRT AND DEBRIS BECOMING LODGED IN THE BEARING DUE TO EXCESSIVE BEARING CLEARANCES. --WATER PUMPS ON THIS ENGINE HAVE BEEN KNOWN TO LEAK OR FAIL. ONE OF THE ISSUES LEADING UP TO THIS WAS DUE TO THE TIMING CHAIN TENSIONER. IT WOULD APPLY MORE TENSION TO THE CHAIN THEN WAS NEEDED, CAUSING STRESS ON THE WATER PUMP. JASPER INSTALLS A LATER DESIGN TENSIONER, WHICH APPLIES THE RIGHT AMOUNT OF TENSION ON THE TIMING CHAIN AND REDUCES THE STRESS ON THE WATER PUMP. JASPER INSTALLS THE NEWEST DESIGN OE WATER PUMP & WATER PUMP GASKET WHICH WILL SEAL TO THE BLOCK BETTER THAN THE ORIGINAL OE DESIGN. --WITH THE USE OF AN MLS GASKET, THE STANDARDS FOR MACHINING ON THE HEAD AND BLOCK HAVE BEEN INCREASED TO INSURE THAT THE GASKET CAN SEAL PROPERLY. THIS IS TO HELP PREVENT COOLANT FROM ENTERING THE OIL CAVITIES CAUSING DAMAGE TO THE ENGINE. ----JASPER DOES NOT INSTALL THE CAM GEAR BALANCER DUE TO A BULLETIN FROM CHRYSLER EFFECTIVE 12/14/01 STATING IT IS NOT NEEDED AND NOT SERVICED FROM THIS TIME FORWARD. --DO NOT REMOVE FROM CORE AND INSTALL ON JASPER'S ENGINE. --LIVE RUN TESTED OIL. *TR

Negative 1999 Chrysler Concorde car reviews

Although the car is gorgeous and comes with many extras, it has had many problems. Unfortunately, I had to go for 3 months in a row without having some major repair. If you really want this car, factor in monthly repairs that will rival or beat your monthly payments. I believe I have replaced nearly every mechanical part within the last 3 years.

This car is a great choice for those who prioritize comfort and fuel efficiency. Despite having to replace the trunk lid stabilizers twice, the car has been reliable for many years. However, with only 54,000 miles, it started experiencing electrical problems, which required the replacement of the Powertrain Computer Module. Although the repairs were expensive, I was fortunate to have purchased an extended warranty. Overall, this car has served me well and I would recommend it to others who are looking for a comfortable and efficient vehicle.

I bought this car in a hurry when the transmission on my old car gave out. Unfortunately, I didn't take enough time to look around and ended up regretting my decision. The first few months were tough as the cow on the hood flew off on the highway, but thankfully no one was hurt. Additionally, the back seat windows stopped working and the engine and transmission light come on every other week, requiring me to put fluid in it all the time. Both front door handles are broken off and the top overhead lights don't work. The CD player also stopped working a year after I bought it. And just last week, my window got off track for the second time, and the glass shattered all over me. I would advise against buying a Chrysler based on my experience.

Hi there! Just wanted to let you know that there's a new short block available at 31,000 miles. Unfortunately, there's a known oil circulation issue with the 2.7 engine, but the good news is that it's covered under warranty and can be fixed within 21 days for just $3500. Additionally, the timing belt tensioner may need to be replaced at 52,000 miles, which costs $650 if it's not covered by warranty. Over the past 3 years, I've had to replace 5 window motors, 1 power door lock, 1 door seal, 1 CD player, and 2 trunk lid pistons. Also, almost all of the exterior plastic parts have crazed and cracked. Let me know if you have any questions!

It seems like there have been a few issues with the car. In the past 3 years, 2 window motors have been replaced, the rear window glass had to be replaced when the defogger stopped working, and 4 trunk lid pistons have been replaced. Unfortunately, the headlight gaskets won't stay on, the driver's window retainer clip is broken and falls off track, and the door panels are loose on the driver's and left rear side. Additionally, the hood trim moulding flew off on the highway, the radiator fan motor quit at 48K, and the speed sensor went bad at 59K, which had to be towed in. Lastly, the fuel gauge sensor went bad at 60K and the A/C has been intermittent since day 1, with the evaporator core now needing a $1200 repair. However, we are here to help and will do our best to get everything sorted for you!

I'm so glad you decided to go with the 2.7 liter option! Even though it's a smaller engine, it still packs a punch with 200 hp and can handle 95% of traffic situations with ease. Plus, the handling is fantastic - especially after upgrading the rear struts to the performance package for even better cornering.

I purchased my car on January 1 2001. I had a bad wheel alignment when i bought the car. The right wheel bearing let go about 1 month after. A few months later i was backing out of my driveway and the reverse let go, no reverse. Lucky I had a warranty. A garage rebuilt the transmission and it cost about $2300. Three years later the transmission let go but now the drive gear, back to the garage i go. They said that they had to rebuild it again another $2300, but i said forget it. Then the right and left power widows let go. The muffler had a small leak and that was $800 dollars because it's a one piece stainless steel. I traded it for a new car, its worth $50 bucks now. scrap.

I have to say, I've never driven a car that was as comfortable and enjoyable to drive on the interstate as this 'Highway Hog'! Even with the A/C on, it still manages to get great gas mileage, with 21 city and 32 highway. The only downside I've experienced is having to replace the transmission sensors twice (the input and output sensors, each costing around $110), but other than that, I have no complaints. It can even seat up to 7 people comfortably (3 in the front and 4 in the back). Overall, it's a great car, but if I were to get another one, I would buy it new, lease it for 3 years, and then trade it in, as Chrysler transmissions tend to have issues once they're over 3 years old.

Nothing but good driving pleasure. This car has been extremely reliable.

Hi there! I hope you're doing well. I just wanted to share my experience with this car that I purchased back in 2000. I've put 82,000 miles on it and it's been performing really well. I'm really impressed with the fuel economy, especially for such a large car. It gets around 28 to 29 mpg, which is comparable to a Honda Accord. I've only had to make a couple of repairs, one for a faulty sensor and another for a bad cooling fan. The only minor issues I've had are with the headlight covers discoloring and the rear windows sticking a bit. Overall, I'm really happy with this car and would definitely recommend it to others.
