The fifth generation ES used body styling marketed by Lexus as L-finesse and debuted in early 2006 as a 2007 model. The sixth generation ES debuted in the first half of 2012 as a 2013 model, and features increased cabin dimensions due to a longer wheelbase which is shared with the full-size XX40 series Avalon.
Lexus has positioned the ES in the comfort luxury segment, with an emphasis on interior amenities, quietness, and ride quality, in contrast with more firm-riding sport sedans. I purchased my Lexus almost a year ago and it has been a beautiful ride. I have been able to average over 46 mpg, which is fantastic. I drive my car very carefully and do not accelerate quickly at all. I have found that I get my best mileage around town. I live in a small town in Maine and it's been a great car to drive around. To maximize mileage, it takes a little getting used to getting up to speed with the gas engine and then maintaining with the battery to use it as efficiently as possible. The ride is very smooth and comfortable and with the 4 cylinder engine, there is plenty of power, though I rarely use it. One of the big reasons I purchased my ES 300h was the great resale value. An old friend from years ago told me you have to look at resale value when looking at cars. Also, dependability is critically important and the Lexus reputation is so good. The car came with the top of the line stereo which is incredible. I would normally never pay this much for a stereo system but the sound is perfect. I would absolutely get another Lexus, but would also consider the ES 350 with the 6 cylinder engine. I love the mileage in my ES 300h and recommend it to anyone looking for a dependable ride, safe car, and great resale value. My previous car was an Audi Q5 TDI which I absolutely loved as well. They are very different cars.

I bought a car with the expectation of getting 44/43 mpg, but after 6+ months of use, the best mpg I have achieved is around 38. When I took it to be inspected, I was informed that 37/38 mpg is considered acceptable. I am disappointed as I was told to expect better, especially since it is a LEXUS. :(

I recently traded in my 2019 RX FSport 450 Hybrid for the 2021 ES 300h with the Luxury package. Although I have no major complaints, I do wish it had a touchscreen. I must say, the power for a hybrid is truly impressive and the ride is incredibly smooth and quiet!

I leased the car on May 30, 2021 in Seattle because I had heard great things about Lexus vehicles being comfortable. However, I have been experiencing some issues with the car. The registration plates arrived, but unfortunately, the screws to attach them were missing. Additionally, I have been having trouble adjusting the seat to a comfortable level, as I keep sliding forward and have to constantly readjust. The seat itself is also quite hard and uncomfortable. I have noticed that the road noise in the cab is quite loud, even with all the windows up, which is surprising for a Lexus. I can even feel the tire rolling on the pavement through my feet. Lastly, the car does not lock on its own when I leave it, which is a bit inconvenient. Overall, I have been disappointed with the ES300h and I am currently exploring options to break my lease. I would not recommend this car to anyone.
