The first- through fourth generation sedans shared body styling elements with Japan-market Toyota sedans, and a domestic market equivalent, the Toyota Windom (Japanese: トヨタ・ウィンダム, Toyota Windamu), was sold until the launch of the fifth generation ES in 2006. The word "Windom" is a combination of "win" and the suffix "dom" expresses a state of perpetual victory. The fifth generation ES used body styling marketed by Lexus as L-finesse and debuted in early 2006 as a 2007 model. The sixth generation ES debuted in the first half of 2012 as a 2013 model, and features increased cabin dimensions due to a longer wheelbase which is shared with the full-size XX40 series Avalon.
Lexus has positioned the ES in the comfort luxury segment, with an emphasis on interior amenities, quietness, and ride quality, in contrast with more firm-riding sport sedans. - Summary: I was driving down the highway coming up on a traffic jam put on the brakes and several warning. Lights came on the dash and my power brakes failed. I was barely able to stop the car without hitting someone. From that point forward the brakes did not work properly, the regenerative braking system did not function. also, the cruise control stopped functioning. I took the car to the Lexus dealer, they tested the car and stated it need a new brake booster brake assembly and that there was a safety warranty issue that was extended out 10 years and up to 150,000 miles and although my car only had 79,000 miles on it was three months past the warranty date and the refused. They reset the car brakes apparently and I was able to drive the car for several days while I spoke with Lexus, and then the car brakes failed again.

- Summary: On my 2013 Lexus ES 350, three out of the four doors do not function properly and will not lock or lock with the key fob. my driver’s side front door, my driver’s side rear door, and my passenger’s side front door does not work. The doors also will not lock or unlock with the interior lock/unlock button. When the all the doors are locked, I must go to the passenger’s rear door to unlock the driver’s side front door with my cane. The manual door lock from the key fob does not work and will break if I continue turning it. The door locks will not automatically lock when the car goes in motion. These are safety issues trying to get a child or pet out of the car in case of an emergency such as a fire, an accident, or robbery. The power locks are extremely helpful for me. I am a combat disabled veteran who runs the risk of reinjuring myself using the only door that works attempting to open the door with my cane. I have had some of these power locks replaced before. Lexus says this is a mechanical issue associated with the actuators rather than a safety issue. I really believe this is a serious safety and security issue rather than a mechanical issue.

- Components: FORWARD COLLISION AVOIDANCE: CRASH IMMINENT BRAKING
- Summary: Toyota Motor Engineering & Manufacturing (Toyota) is recalling certain model year 2013-2015 Avalon and Avalon Hybrid vehicles manufactured October 19, 2012 to October 27, 2015 and 2013-2015 Lexus ES350 and ES300h vehicles manufactured June 18, 2012 to July 6, 2015. The affected vehicles are equipped with a Pre-Collision System (PCS) as optional equipment. In these vehicles, the PCS may unexpectedly activate and apply the brakes when the radar detects a steel joint or plate in the roadway as an object.
- Consequence: A vehicle that unexpectedly brakes increases the risk of a crash.
- Remedy: Toyota will notify owners, and dealers will replace certain PCS components, free of charge. The recall began on July 28, 2016. Owners may contact Toyota at 1-888-270-9371. Toyota's numbers for this campaign are F1V and F2E.

My wife and I recently purchased this car and we've already put nearly 1000 miles on it. Overall, we're really happy with it! The front and rear seats have plenty of room, and it's impressively quiet. The ride is excellent and the handling is capable. We're expecting the fuel mileage to be in the 40 range once we stop playing with it, but for now, we're getting 36MPH in mixed driving. The controls are well thought out, although we're still getting used to the Lexus Enform and Navigation Tech. Hopefully, they'll update the software with some better navigation of the menus. But the Tech is still very cool. The Hybrid system is amazing! It changes from motor to battery with hardly a notice! We're definitely keeping this car!

It's great to hear about your search for a new car! My wife and I were also in the market for a new car and we can definitely relate to wanting all the latest tech and features. We looked at a few different options like the Ford Fusion, Honda Accord, Buick Regal, and Buick Verano, but ultimately ended up test driving the ES300h and fell in love with it. Hello! I have a great deal of knowledge about high and low maintenance vehicles, having managed luxury sales departments at dealerships. In early 2017, I purchased my 2013 ES300h with 89K miles on it. Now, with 236,000 miles, I am happy to report that nothing has broken, failed, or torn. The leather seats are still in great shape, and the CV joints have never been replaced. Even the original brake pads and 12v battery are still going strong! In my opinion, this car is an unbelievable luxury vehicle that goes beyond just heated and cooled seats. It is reliable and enjoyable perfection. The only downside is that the ride quality is not as good as the previous body style. Thank you for reading!

I have owned my ES300h for 11 years and have enjoyed almost everything about the car. It has been perfect for me, except that I am getting too old to get into a low car, so unfortunately, it will have to go in the next year. The batteries have lost some power, but they are still the original ones. The GPS is terrible, and the auto lights are poor. The biggest irritation for me is the GPS - there is only one voice available, and it is not to my liking. It seldom understands my (English) accent! The auto lights-on takes too long to be used safely - I am told that is the way it is with Toyota - Bad - not safe in my humble opinion. I find the radio a challenge, and the CD player (I still have them) is not great. Otherwise, it is a nice car. I am a happy camper. Would I buy a Hybrid again? Probably not because I do not do enough mileage. I doubt I would purchase another Lexus; I would certainly look at the alternatives. Would I buy electric? NO, as I understand battery replacement will be expensive.

I understand that this may be hard to believe, but I have had a difficult experience with Lexus USA customer service. I had to do all the follow-up myself. While the car itself is fine, I have had a negative experience with the optional Mark Levinson sound system. I would not recommend purchasing this option. I have tried to be reasonable with the customer care representatives, but unfortunately, they do not seem to care. If something is not done about the sound system, this will be the last Lexus I purchase.

Firstly, I must say that the car is quite nice overall. The interior is what really sold me on it - the wooden trim, black leather, AC, heated seats, sunroof, and even an analogue clock are all lovely features. Plus, it has Bluetooth! While it may not have the same beautiful curves as the G Coupe, it still looks great on the outside. However, I do have to mention that it is a heavy car and its handling leaves something to be desired. In fact, it's one of the worst handling cars I've ever owned. Being FWD, I was hoping for RWD or AWD, but unfortunately that's not the case. I thought I could get used to driving a heavy FWD automatic car, but I find myself curbing it all the time and burning rubber when I have to accelerate. This shouldn't be happening, especially since the car is a slow commuter car with a 0-60 time of around 8 seconds (and I'm even in ECO mode when this happens). It does have a sport mode, but it's not really necessary since the car is not particularly fast. However, if you have a family, it's a great car. Unfortunately, as a 27-year-old without a family, it's not the best fit for me. If it weren't FWD, many of the car's issues would be solved. I'm not sure who thought it was a good idea to make a heavy car FWD.

I recently took delivery of this car for my wife, which makes it the third Lexus I have owned in the last 20 years. What I love about this car are the attributes that aren't typically discussed in reviews. For example, it emits a purposeful sound when driving slowly in EV mode to alert pedestrians to your presence. The stereo, even without the Mark Levinson upgrade, is impressive, especially with the whisper quiet interior. Lexus has managed to dial down outside noise levels without completely insulating us from the world. The ratcheted headrests are a nice touch, but unfortunately, the front driver's seat is the worst I've ever experienced on long trips. Surprisingly, there is a gear shift present, even though I don't see the need for it. The interior lighting is dynamic and changes depending on what you're doing. Unfortunately, I had to trade the car in early, which is something I've never done before, because the front seats were miserable for my average build. I've never experienced such a terrible backache from a driver's seat before. I'm not sure if it's because it's a hybrid and they reduced support in the seats to save weight or not. The good news is that when I traded it in, I got top dollar for it.
