The 1979 series III saloons received a redesigned greenhouse (upper body) and bumpers. The 6-cylinder series III models were replaced by the second generation Jaguar XJ in 1987, but the V12 models not until 1992.

UPDATE: Hi there! Just wanted to share that this is still my absolute favorite car out of all the ones I've owned. It's incredibly reliable, super quiet at cruise speeds, and handles corners like a dream. The only downside has been the dealer service, which has been a bit inept - I've had to return 4 times just to reset the service indicator warning. But overall, it's simply the best car I've ever owned! I've owned many Mercedes in the past, but I grew tired of their mundane interiors and lately their Rube Goldberg exterior styling. The interior of this car is so much more luxurious and inviting than any Mercedes I've owned. The doors close with a solid 'thunk', which really reflects the quality of the car. The instrumentation is straightforward, and the audio quality is far beyond anything we've heard from Mercedes. Despite the negative reviews of the audio/navigation system, we've found this system to be much more user-friendly and easier to program than Mercedes' clunky system.

I hope you're doing well! I just wanted to share my experience with my 2017 XJ with a 6 cylinder engine. I've driven it for almost 40,000 miles and have been very happy with it. I've always made sure to take good care of it, even before the recommended service dates, and I'm happy to report that I haven't had any problems or issues with it. So far, it's been an excellent car!

Just wanted to share that I recently paid $3,746.37 to fix a coolant leak repair, but I decided not to go to the Jaguar dealer, which would have probably charged me twice as much. Despite that, I absolutely love driving my car every second. The Meridian sound system is simply the best and the car is very spacious. I receive a lot of compliments from many people. I bought it when it was 3 years old with 27,000 miles for $44,000.

I've owned this 2016 XJ for 10 months and I absolutely love it! It drives like a sports car and has great fuel economy. While there may be more practical luxury sedans out there, I don't think any of them look as good as this one. I was a little nervous about buying a Jaguar because of poor press on older models, but this car has exceeded all of my expectations. For context, I've owned Mercedes, Cadillacs, and even Corvettes, but this is by far my favorite car ever!

If you're searching for the unique features of the 2005 - 2008 XJL models, unfortunately, you won't find them in the newer models. I had a 2005 XJ8L, with an all-black interior and exterior, tinted windows, and I affectionately called her 'Betsy.' I was the proud owner of this car for 10.5 years, during which time I put 117,300 miles on her. I received compliments on her every week, until my wife unfortunately totaled her while she was parked in 11/2017. State Farm insurance gave me a very fair payout for the car. I replaced 'Betsy' with a 2014 XJL AWD Portfolio, Rhodium Silver, which had all the bells and whistles of the AWD 'Portfolio,' including a panoramic roof. However, the class and distinction of my 2005 model is missing, not to mention the iconic 'Leaper' hood ornament. Initially, I wasn't interested in the newly styled Jaguar XJ, but at the end of the day, no other vehicle in my price range could match the distinction of the Jaguar XJ. I don't have any major complaints about the car, except that the earlier model XJs had a more distinguished and classy appearance. Additionally, the mileage on the newer model doesn't seem to be as good.

I purchased my dream car at the end of August. Unfortunately, the check fuel cap light came on about 3 times before I reported it. Maintenance assured me that I was the culprit. Then, in November, the check engine light came on. I took it to the shop on December 7th and they replaced the gas cap. However, since then, the light comes on almost every day. To make matters worse, the information screen went black yesterday. I have scheduled to take it back to the shop on January 3rd, 2018. Although I love the design and comfort of the car, the electronics have been spoiling my experience. On the bright side, it has great fuel economy for a luxury car.

I've had my 2016 XJL Portfolio for a year now and while I love the car's luxurious look and driving performance, I have to admit that the infotainment system is not up to par with other luxury car brands like Mercedes, Audi, and BMW. Unfortunately, the Bluetooth and hands-free system have never worked properly since day one and are completely unreliable. I've also had trouble playing music from my phone. Dealing with these electronic glitches has been a hassle and getting assistance from Jaguar and the dealer has been difficult. Despite my disappointment with these issues, I still appreciate the car's luxury and performance. However, I would not recommend this car unless you have a lot of patience.

This car is undoubtedly one of the most comfortable and beautiful vehicles I have ever owned. However, the infotainment system has been a source of frustration due to its unreliability. Despite its impressive Meridian Sound, the system has exhibited odd behaviors such as the clock resetting to military time and sensors randomly turning off. While the system has required frequent firmware upgrades, the fixes have only been temporary. Given the high price point of $80,000, it is unacceptable to endure such daily frustration. The slow service at Jaguar of Marin has only added to the disappointment. Overall, the car's potential is hindered by the unreliable infotainment system and lackluster service experience.

The XJ's performance in rain and snow is subpar, despite being equipped with AWD. It is worth noting that the heated windshield may cause glare for those who wear eyeglasses, as reported by some users on Google. Unfortunately, when attempting to exchange the vehicle after three months and 2400 miles, we were informed that its value had decreased by $30,000 from the original purchase price. However, we are fortunate that it is a lease and we eagerly anticipate the end of the term.
