Common 2018 Jaguar Xf problems
The 2018 Jaguar XF has faced several issues, primarily related to electrical systems, fuel leaks, and engine problems.
- Fuel leaks: There have been two separate fuel leak issues in the 2018 Jaguar XF. The first one affects cars manufactured from 1 November 2016 and 6 April 2017, where fuel lines can chafe and potentially cause a fuel leak.
- Engine problems: Some 2018 Jaguar XF owners have reported that the engine may cut out and fail to restart, caused by the low-pressure fuel line falling off on cars built between 1 April 2015 and 25 February 2016.
- Inner sill cracking: A small number of 2018 Jaguar XFs built between 8 December 2016 and 14 December 2016 may have a cracked left side inner sill. If the dealer inspects the car and finds cracks, the manufacturer is to repurchase the car and supply a replacement.
- CO2 levels: Certain XF models produced between 1 September 2016 and 5 July 2018 might have a problem emitting the correct levels of CO2. A software update to the engine should rectify this.
- Instrument cluster blanking: A software issue on vehicles made between 1 September 2016 and 17 August 2017 can lead to the instrument cluster going blank intermittently. Affected vehicles will need a software update to sort this issue.
- Occupancy detection mat: The front passenger seat of some XFs made between 14 February 2017 and 11 April 2017 didn't have an occupancy mat fitted to warn the driver of an unbuckled passenger. Affected vehicles should have this mat fitted by a Jaguar dealer.
The 2018 Jaguar XF has an average annual repair cost of $1,066, which is considered poor for luxury midsize cars, and its reliability rating is 3.0 out of 5.0, ranking it 22nd out of 31 for luxury midsize cars.

Nearly 400 HP in a station wagon, AWD, luxurious interior, all the bells and whistles. Amazing!

It's really beautiful and luxurious, accelerates really well, and is fun to drive. It has great details, but it's worth noting that the steel calipers may rust a bit if you live in the Midwest.

Great Car

The computer takes a while to load navigation and audio, and the Auto Start/Stop feature can feel a bit like the car has stalled. It would be great if this feature could be disabled by the user permanently, rather than just per trip. Additionally, it would be helpful if there was a locking mechanism to secure the fuel door (in the United States) to prevent gas siphoning or contamination. The music can take a minute or more to start, and entering an address into the navigation can take several minutes. Lastly, the backup camera has a warning banner on the screen that can block the view for a moment when backing out of driveways or parking spaces. Despite these issues, the car is beautiful and drives nicely, with plenty of power. However, I have yet to achieve the minimum listed gas mileage.

I would give this car a solid 4+ stars, except for one thing I just can't overlook. Especially since it's almost caused me some minor accidents. There is a mandatory idle engine stall built in, which I assume someone thought would save gas mileage. Unfortunately, it seems that it's always on upon starting the engine and is ultra-sensitive, stalling the engine almost immediately upon coming to a stop at a light or even a stop sign. Aside from it being ridiculously annoying and continually adding strain on systems such as oil pressure issues upon engine starting and such, it has also proven to be a safety hazard. It turns itself off while you are navigating into a tight parking spot! So, I would advise against buying a late model Jaguar if you live in a big city where parallel parking is required. Several times now, I have used the parking sensors to carefully guide myself into a tight spot, gradually inching a little closer and closer to the other vehicle in front of me, and voila - the darn engine shuts off right in the middle! You have to fully remove your foot from the brake to get it to restart, only now the frontal parking sensor has turned off, and as the car auto restarts, it can jump forward a bit, bumping you right into the car in front of you that you were carefully inching close to. It would be great if they could provide a way to optionally turn and keep it off for the sake of safety (not to mention the extreme annoyance it brings). This, in itself, is reason enough for me not to buy a Jaguar until they fix this.

I've had my Jaguar SF S for just over a year now. Unfortunately, I've had to take it to Jaguar Fort Lauderdale on five separate occasions for the same issue. Whenever it rains heavily, my rear door retains about a gallon of water, and despite leaving my car in the shop for longer periods, the problem has never been fully resolved. On the second occasion, they even drilled a hole in the interior of the door, which has never been patched up. Whenever I call corporate to ask what can be done, I'm informed that they'll do their best to fix it within the terms of my warranty, and that I have no other recourse. I'm disappointed that the issue hasn't been resolved within the first four attempts. However, I must say that Ken Serra has been an excellent help to me each time I've visited. If it wasn't for him, I would have sold my car and gone to a different dealer/make a long time ago. I'm hoping that the fifth time will be the charm, as missing work to drop off my car is becoming tiresome.
