Common Jaguar Xf problems
Based on complaints from owners of Jaguar XF cars, common problems with these vehicles include:
- Transmission Problems: Jaguar XF cars are known to experience early transmission failure, which can lead to significant issues with the vehicle's performance. Detecting transmission problems early through comprehensive diagnostics is crucial to prevent further damage and ensure proper functioning.
- Ignition Coil Issues: The ignition coils in Jaguar XF cars are essential for creating sparks to ignite fuel. Failure of these coils can result in inadequate engine performance, sometimes without triggering the check engine light. Intermittent issues with ignition coils can impact the overall running of the engine.
- Coolant & Engine Difficulties: Coolant loss is a common problem in some Jaguar XF models, often due to leaks in the coolant reservoir. If left unaddressed, coolant leaks can lead to engine overheating, causing extensive damage. Monitoring coolant levels and addressing leaks promptly is crucial to prevent engine issues.
- Brake Failure: The brake pressure accumulator, a component of the antilock brake system in Jaguar XF cars, is prone to failure. When this part malfunctions, it can cause the brake pedal to stiffen, making it challenging to slow down or stop the vehicle. Unusual noises from the front brakes may indicate a need for brake system inspection.
- Engine Issues: Jaguar XF cars have been reported to face problems with the timing chain and engine overheating. Noises during engine startup or idling could signal issues with the timing chain tensioner. Overheating engines can lead to damage to cylinder bores and excessive oil consumption. Timely detection and resolution of engine issues are essential to maintain the vehicle's performance.
These common problems highlight the importance of regular maintenance and prompt attention to any signs of malfunction in Jaguar XF cars to ensure optimal performance and longevity of the vehicle.

- Date Of Incident: 2024-02-02
- Date Complaint: 2024-02-04
- VIN: SAJWA0FB1BL
- Components: FUEL/PROPULSION SYSTEM
- Summary: I just recently purchased the car from a dealer here in Salt Lake City. But suddenly began to smell fuel mostly in the backseat area inside the car. I decided to investigate and found there is a leak underneath the rear passenger side of the car which appears to be fuel looks like it may be mixed with the little oil hard to say it's a pretty steady drip especially if I'm parked uphill. This is definitely a safety hazard being that it is fuel and could easily cause a fire putting me my family and others at risk. I noticed there was a recall on these vehicles it is a Jaguar XF 2011 but it looks like it has been closed from what I can tell. I'm hoping that that's not the case and we can get this fixed with minimum or no charge thing it was a recall

Jaguar Xf 2013
- Date Of Incident: 2023-05-19
- Date Complaint: 2023-05-19
- VIN: SAJWA0ES6DP
- Components: ELECTRICAL SYSTEM,EXTERIOR LIGHTING,VISIBILITY/WIPER
- Summary: To the best of my ability id like to explain why my car does not operate . i have taken my car to two jaguar dealership and have talked to Rocco' s European car repair shop as well and the all say that what is defective with my car is the central junction box. When I asked them all as to why this does not function they all said its a known problem with the car specifically due to "water ingress" leaking from the windshield wiper pump and on to the underside of the Central junction box and my wires are corroded and cause electrical failure as the say water and electricity are not a safe combination. with this malfunction my car no longer starts . Yes of course my car is available for inspection and it has been confirmed by both Hennessey Jaguar of Atlanta and Jaguar south Atlanta both have provided documentation as to the necessity to change the central junction box and both dealership's are not privately owned and not connected to one another yet they state the same reason as to why my car will not function. Yes my 2013 jaguar is a dangerous vehicle to drive as the car doors spontaneously opened and closed on their own the interior lights turned on and off and some other malfunctions engaged even when not engaged to do so i believe the breaking system also flashed traction control turns on even though i didn't ask it to be turned on. i am afraid that my car with water in the junction box could lead to an electrical fire as told to me by numerous mechanics Yes my car was inspected by both dealerships in Atlanta and both diagnosed the problem and being the "CJB." The symptoms initially started with my doors mysteriously locking and unlocking and then other electrical problems occurred after that. These symptoms first appeared in 2021 and there were messages that flashed on the dash message especially one that said see owners handbook i may not be sure of the wording but that's essentially the message . this is my best assessment of the problems.
Jaguar Xf 2022

- Date Complaint: 2023-04-12
- VIN: SAJBL4GX6NC
- Components: POWER TRAIN,ENGINE
- Summary: Car stalls and jumps out of gear at takeoff leaving us in the middle of the intersection having to turn the car off and restarting it as cars are trying to go around, also car accelerates too high rpm when taking off at low speed
Jaguar Xf 2013
- Date Of Incident: 2016-02-01
- Date Complaint: 2023-03-24
- VIN: SAJWJ0EF5D8
- Components: ENGINE
- Summary: The car employs a start/stop system to shut the engine when stopped. When it restarts the engine, the idle speed drops to about 400 RPM (half normal idle) and surges when it recovers. It has also stalled several times. I've asked the dealership to fix this, but when at the dealer, the system would not shut the engine so they have not verified the issue. The first safety issue happens if the driver is not expecting the surge resulting in sudden acceleration. The second issue happened when the car stalled at an intersection with other cars trying to get by. This has happened many times since I purchased the car in 2015. The stop/start function stopped working for a period of time when the primary battery was older and weak. Since replacing the batter, this is happening more frequently now. I did find this issue on KBB's website, but not on yours https://www.kbb.com/jaguar/xf/2013/recall/

I could have lost my life that day with that car doing this and someone else can lose their life if this happen to them if you all don't make Jaguar fixed this problem, if it already hasn't happen to someone. I reported this problem to Jaguar today and they sound like they weren't interested in what I was telling them. They said they would open and case and they will close it. Do that make sense to you to open a case and close it?

This is my 5th Jaguar - and I love it. I was a bit hesitant going from an XKR to an XF - but the ride is excellent, great acceleration, and very good handling. I'm so glad I chose the XF!

I have owned many cars in my life, ranging from luxury sedans to exotics. In my experience, the XFR is the best balanced automobile I have ever driven. My first test drive was on a track with professional drivers, and I was immediately hooked. Jaguar has certainly made a statement about their desire to re-establish themselves as a quality brand. We had a deposit on the Panamera, but after experiencing the XFR, there was no way that car was worth 30k more. Additionally, the XFR comes fully loaded, so no options are necessary. I would put it up against anything up to 120k.

I hope you're doing well! I just wanted to share my experience with my 2011 XF Supercharged. I purchased it in June 2011 and I have absolutely no regrets. It has been such a reliable car that I have only had to take it in for its annual checkup at 10K miles. I have not experienced any mechanical or electrical issues at all. The car has more power than I can use 99% of the time, but I always look forward to that 1% when I can give it all she's got. The powerhouse 470HP Supercharged V8 is truly impressive. I wasn't even planning on buying a new car, but when the dealer parked it and kept it running, I couldn't resist the temptation of that purr from the quad exhaust. Thank you for letting me share my experience with you!

I researched luxury cars in the 50-60K range, including models from MB, BMW, Lexus, Audi, Jaguar, and more. After test driving the Jag and the Audi, I found the Jag to be truly exceptional. As one automotive reviewer put it, this car is like the beautiful cheerleader with a naughty side. When you step on the gas, it just goes and goes and keeps going. Plus, everywhere I go, people have to do a double take because it's such a stunning car. I was pleasantly surprised to find that this car already has everything I need, and more. In my opinion, the German counterparts could learn a thing or two from the Brits. When I priced out a BMW and MB that started around 50K, by the time I added all the extras (which was just about everything), the car was well over 60K.

I always dreamed of owning a Jaguar since I was a little kid. However, I have been quite disappointed with my recent purchase. Unfortunately, the brakes squeak all day long, which can be quite annoying. Additionally, the cost of replacing them every 10k miles can be quite expensive, ranging from $600 to $1,000. The electronics are also not up to par, and it can be frustrating to deal with. Although it's hard to give specifics, it feels like it's running on an old version of Windows 98. Lastly, I wouldn't recommend getting satellite radio installed as it tends to go out every 3 minutes. Despite these issues, I still appreciate the sleek design of the car.

I leased this car because of its sleek looks and nice interior. However, after only a week of having it, the car broke down in the middle of the Long Island Expressway due to a faulty sensor. It was definitely a frustrating experience, but I'm grateful to be safe. Unfortunately, this has left me feeling hesitant about considering another Jaguar in the future.

Hello to all my fellow XF owners! If you've ever found yourself in a situation where your car is stuck in park or drive, I completely understand your frustration. I absolutely adore this car, but unfortunately, I've experienced this issue twice in the past 6 weeks. The dealership has been very helpful and has informed me that it's a factory recall issue. However, I can't help but wonder if it's a design flaw. I'm considering selling the car, and I would advise anyone thinking of purchasing one to think twice. Although it's an amazing ride, it's not worth being stranded on the side of the road twice in such a short period of time, especially for a $65,000 automobile. Take care!

The computer takes a while to load navigation and audio, and the Auto Start/Stop feature can feel a bit like the car has stalled. It would be great if this feature could be disabled by the user permanently, rather than just per trip. Additionally, it would be helpful if there was a locking mechanism to secure the fuel door (in the United States) to prevent gas siphoning or contamination. The music can take a minute or more to start, and entering an address into the navigation can take several minutes. Lastly, the backup camera has a warning banner on the screen that can block the view for a moment when backing out of driveways or parking spaces. Despite these issues, the car is beautiful and drives nicely, with plenty of power. However, I have yet to achieve the minimum listed gas mileage.

I bought my 2010 XF Supercharged a year ago with 90k miles (in 2021). Unfortunately, I have had a few issues with it, such as cracked wheels, brakes, blown water pump, 5 coolant leaks, blown fuel pump, and rear suspension that had to be completely redone. Despite these setbacks, I am still hopeful that my car will be back to its best soon. Recently, I have had to replace the parking brake sensors and both key fobs, which was quite expensive. I just got it out of the shop again and there is another coolant leak, but I am confident that it will be fixed soon. Although I have spent more on the car in the shop than what I paid for it, I am still optimistic that it will be worth it in the end. While it may not get the best gas mileage, it is still a fast car that I enjoy driving. I am looking forward to getting back on the road and enjoying my car again.
