Common Jaguar Xf 2010 problems
The Jaguar XF, introduced in 2010, is known for its luxurious design and advanced electronics. However, like any vehicle, it has its share of common problems. Here are some of the most frequently reported issues by owners:
- Absence of oil level dipstick: Many Jaguar XF engines, particularly the 3.0L V6 and 5.0L V8, do not have an oil level dipstick. Instead, they rely on an electronic oil level sensor, which can be less accurate and more prone to failure.
- Central locking issues: Some owners have reported problems with the central locking system, which may require replacement of the affected components.
- Timing chain, tensioners, and guides: The 3.0L supercharged V6 and 5.0L V8 engines in the XF are known to have issues with timing chain tensioners and guides. These components can wear out over time, causing the timing chain to jump or fail, potentially leading to expensive engine repairs.
- Water pump failure: The water pumps in 5.0L V8 and 3.0L supercharged V6 engines are prone to failure, often due to coolant getting inside the bearing housing and corroding the water pump bearing. This can result in a low coolant level warning message and traces of a coolant leak around the water pump pulley.
- Gear selector stuck down: The gear selector dial in the XF can sometimes get stuck down in the console, preventing the car from being shifted out of park. This issue can be resolved by fitting and programming a new selector unit.
- Dashboard vents not rotating open: The air vents in the XF's dashboard are designed to rotate out when the ignition is switched on, but they can sometimes fail to do so due to worn-out stepper motor clutches. Jaguar now offers a replacement clutch at a lower cost, which involves partial disassembly of the dashboard fascia.
- TPMS sensor failure: The tyre pressure monitoring system (TPMS) in the XF is known to have sensitive electronics, causing the sensors to fail more frequently than in other vehicles. Replacing the faulty sensor is the most common solution.
These issues are not exhaustive and other problems may arise in the Jaguar XF. It is essential to perform thorough inspections and maintenance checks to ensure the vehicle's longevity and reliability.
What is the problem with the 2010 Jaguar XF?
JAGUAR IS RECALLING CERTAIN MODEL YEAR 2010 VEHICLES. THE FUEL TRANSFER PIPE IN THE FUEL TANK MAY BE KINKED. THIS MAY RESTRICTS FUEL BEING TRANSFERRED FROM ONE SIDE OF THE FUEL TANK TO THE FUEL PUMP CAUSING FUEL STARVATION AT LOW FUEL LEVELS.
Do Jaguar XF have problems?
Reliability Survey, the XF finished 20th out of 24 cars in the executive car class, with a score of 88.7%. Check the full list here. Bodywork, brakes and sat-nav issues were the most common problems with the 28% of XFs that went wrong.
Is the 2010 Jaguar XF a good car?
Around corners, the XF has considerable grip and surprisingly high limits. The steering is a little light and numb, but the XF is still more fun to drive than many competitors. Acceleration from the base V8 is swift and smooth; from the new naturally aspirated 5.0-liter V8, even more so.
How many miles does a 2010 Jaguar XF last?
Most Jaguar vehicles will last for at least 150,000 miles, but there's a lot that a driver can do to push this number much higher. With regular oil replacement, belt changes, spark plug replacement, and other basic maintenance services, you can ensure that your Jaguar lasts for 200,000 miles or more.

THEY ARE NOT PRESENT IN THE VEHICLE AND I HAVE 2 SMALL CHILDREN I TRANSPORT DAILY. ALMOST DAILY, THE ENGINE WILL STALL OR LAG AND I CAN HEAR WHINING COMING FROM THE REAR PASSENGER BACK SEAT WHERE THE FUEL PUMP IS. I'M AFRAID THAT THE SMELL OF GASOLINE AND THAT SOUND MEANS I HAVE A FAULTY FUEL PUMP. IT STALLS WHEN RUNNING AND WHEN SITTING IDLE. IT'S WORSE AT AN IDLE. IT STALLS OR STUTTERS DAILY. WHEELS PROBLEM
- Date Of Incident: 2017-04-25
- VIN: SAJWA0HE8AM
- Components: WHEELS
- Summary: THE WHEELS ON A RANGE OF JAGUAR MODELS ARE PRONE TO THE RIMS CRACKING WHERE THE TIRE BEAD SEALS TO THE INNER LIP OF THE RIM. I HAVE HAD ALL (4) 20" SELENA STYLE OEM WHEELS CRACK MULTIPLE TIMES PER RIM. THIS ISSUE HAS BEEN REPORTED IN JAGUAR FORUMS BY MANY OTHER OWNERS AND THE SAME RIM HAS SAFETY RECALLS ASSOCIATED WITH IT BUT FOR SOME REASON DON'T COVER THIS MODEL EVEN THOUGH ITS THE SAME EXACT RIM. THE ALUMINUM ALLOY REACHES ITS FATIGUE LIMIT AS EARLY AS 40K MILES OF USE. ONCE CRACKS OCCUR, THE RIM WILL CONTINUE TO CRACK IN NEW LOCATIONS WITHOUT REQUIRING IMPACTING A POTHOLE OR OTHER OBSTRUCTION AS IS EVIDENT THAT NO DAMAGE HAS BEEN OBSERVED TO ANY OF THE TIRES DURING A RIM CRACK EVENT SUCH AS BUBBLES OR SIDEWALL DAMAGE. THE OWNER IS LEFT WITH ONLY ONE SOLUTION, BUY NEW OEM WHEELS AND HOPE TO SELL THE CAR BEFORE THE RIMS AGAIN REACH THEIR FATIGUE LIFE LIMIT. THIS MAY EITHER BE A POOR CHOICE OF ALLOY, MANUFACTURING DEFECT OR DESIGN DEFECT SUCH AS STRUCTURAL DESIGN OR TOO THIN OF A WALL THICKNESS OF THE RIM. THE 20" SELENA STYLE OEM WHEELS APPEAR TO BE AFFECTED THE MOST BY THE ISSUE OF RANDOM RIM CRACKING. THIS IS UNRELATED TO THE CRACKING AROUND THE WHEEL STUD DUE TO IMPROPER LUG NUT TORQUE. THE REAR WHEELS (9.5" WIDE) START CRACKING FIRST AROUND 50K MILES FOLLOWED LATER BY THE FRONT WHEELS (8.5" WIDE). I HAVE EXPERIENCED FLAT TIRES DUE TO THE RIMS CRACKING ABOUT 10 TIMES IN TOTAL. I HAVE WORN OUT TWO SPARE TIRES BECAUSE OF THIS PROBLEM. THE CRACKS WILL MANIFEST AS A SLOW LEAK AND WILL PROGRESS TO A FASTER LEAK AS THE CRACK PROPAGATES FURTHER. WELDING THE CRACK IS NOT AN APPROPRIATE REPAIR OPTION AND SHOULD NOT BE CONSIDERED.
UNKNOWN OR OTHER PROBLEM
- Date Of Incident: 2016-06-17
- VIN: SAJWA0GB9AL
- Components: UNKNOWN OR OTHER
- Summary: TAKATA RECALL.DASH BOARD IS COMEING APART DUE TO BUBBLING CAR IS IN GARAGE YEAR ROUND. 2010 XF JAGUAR.
FUEL/PROPULSION SYSTEM PROBLEM
- Date Of Incident: 2017-10-01
- VIN: SAJWA0FAXAH
- Components: FUEL/PROPULSION SYSTEM
- Summary: I PURCHASED MY JAGUAR USED AND NOTICED A FUEL SMELL AFTER DRIVING IT A COUPLE OF WEEKS. THE DEALERSHIP REPLACED THE FUEL RAIL WHICH HAS NOT CORRECTED THE PROBLEM. AFTER THE RAIL WAS REPLACED, I CONTINUED TO SMELL GAS AND NOTICED FUEL LEAKING UNDER THE REAR PASSENGER AREA OF MY CAR WHEN IT'S SITTING STATIONARY, AFTER BEING DRIVEN. THE DEALERSHIP HAS AGREED IT'S DUE TO A FAULTY (PT# C2Z10550) FUEL TANK OUTLET FLANGE WHICH IS A KNOWN DEFECT/RECALL FOR THIS TYPE OF VEHICLE (J059), HOWEVER THE DEALERSHIP SAYS IT DOESN'T AFFECT MY VEHICLE AS IT WASN'T MANUFACTURED WHERE THE VEHICLE ISSUE ORIGINATED. ALL RESOURCES I HAVE LOCATED SUGGEST MOST OF THE VEHICLES WERE ASSEMBLED IN BROMWICH UK, BUT NOT ALL. I'M SURE MY ISSUE IS RELATED BECAUSE IT EXACTLY MATCHES THE ISSUE DESCRIBED IN THE RECALL AND I NEED HELP GETTING THIS FAULTY PART AND LABOR COVERED BY THE DEALERSHIP. I HAVE ALREADY PAID THOUSANDS ON THE FUEL RAIL REPLACEMENT WHICH MUST NOT HAVE BEEN THE PROBLEM TO BEGIN WITH, SINCE THE SAME PROBLEM STILL EXISTS TODAY. THIS IS A FIRE RISK AND SAFETY ISSUES THAT NEEDS ADDRESSED.

My fourth Jag and undoubtedly the most thrilling to drive. The Leaper emblem may be fitting for the XJ series, but it appears out of place on this model. This car handles like a true sports sedan and boasts a superior appearance compared to BMW, Benz, and Audi models. Although the initial quality for the first 70 days has been disappointing, the dealer has been prompt on repairs. Despite a few hiccups, Jaguars are like beloved children - we always end up forgiving them.

I really enjoy driving my XF-R, but I have had some issues with the tires. Unfortunately, I have experienced two tire problems in less than a year of owning the car. The first issue was a chunk of missing tire on my back driver side, which was surprising since I am the only driver and nothing had hit the car. The dealership recommended a new tire, which cost over $600. I was disappointed, but I understand that these things can happen. However, just three months later, I noticed a couple of bulges in the sidewall of the front passenger tire. When I took it to the dealership, they suggested that I had hit a pot hole, but I am certain that I had not. I felt like the dealership did not believe me and it was frustrating. They explained that the tires are

I recently purchased my XFR and I absolutely love it! When the XF was first released, I test drove it and knew it was the car for me. However, when I heard that Jaguar was releasing the XFR, I decided to wait for it and I'm so glad I did. The car is not only stylish and comfortable, but it also handles exceptionally well. During my test drive, I accidentally drove over retired railroad tracks and didn't even notice until I was on my way back to the dealership. Despite having a 510 HP engine, the fuel economy is decent. I've even had people look at me in awe as I pass them and I've left Mustang GTs at the light three times! It's safe to say that this car is a real head-turner. Oh, and gentlemen, trust me on this one - it's a real hit with the ladies!

Awesome! The ride, handling, and performance are fantastic. It looks great and is also very functional. The trunk is huge, the seats fold down, and it's all very useful. It's great to see that fast doesn't have to mean useless. Plus, it's not like you see one on every corner. Nice!

After one week of owning my new car, I'm absolutely loving its looks and power! I previously owned a 2005 Acura RL, which was a great car with a beautiful interior, but its exterior was a bit unexciting. I have no complaints about it though! I'm hoping that my new Jag will be just as reliable, despite some past reputation issues. I purchased my car from Alpine, the largest dealership in the country, and I must say that the experience was fantastic from start to finish. I highly recommend them!

I bought my 2010 XF Supercharged a year ago with 90k miles (in 2021). Unfortunately, I have had a few issues with it, such as cracked wheels, brakes, blown water pump, 5 coolant leaks, blown fuel pump, and rear suspension that had to be completely redone. Despite these setbacks, I am still hopeful that my car will be back to its best soon. Recently, I had to replace the parking brake sensors and both key fobs, which was a bit pricey, but I am glad that it is all sorted now. I just got it out of the shop again, and there is another coolant leak, but I am confident that it will be fixed soon. Although I have spent more on the car in the shop than what I paid for it, I am still optimistic that it will be worth it in the end. While it is true that the car is fast and only gets about 16 mpg, I still enjoy driving it. I am looking forward to taking it on more adventures in the future.
