2022 Jaguar I-pace problems

The Jaguar I-Pace (stylised as I-PACE) is a battery-electric crossover SUV produced by Jaguar Land Rover (JLR) under their Jaguar marque. The I-Pace was announced in March 2018, European deliveries began in June 2018 and North American deliveries started in October 2018. Amid slowing sales and a change in corporate vision, Jaguar has announced that the I-Pace will be discontinued by 2025.
Development
The Jaguar I-Pace was designed by Ian Callum. The concept version of the car, described as a five-seater sports car, was unveiled by JLR at the 2016 Los Angeles Motor Show and shown on-road in London in March 2017.
The I-Pace is built by contract manufacturer Magna Steyr in Graz, Austria, and the production version of the I-Pace was revealed in Graz on 1 March 2018.
Some of the electric drive technology has come out of the Jaguar I-Type electric Formula E racing car programme, and the concentric motors were developed by JLR engineer Dr. Alex Michaelides.

Why is the I-Pace not selling?
Jaguar has confirmed the I-Pace will be discontinued alongside all the brand's internal combustion engine (ICE) models in 2025, when the brand is re-launched. Speaking to Autocar, JLR CEO Adrian Mardell confirmed the car would be retired to give Jaguar a completely fresh start.

- Summary: The contact owns a 2022 Jaguar I-Pace. The contact stated that the vehicle was taken to the dealer because the vehicle failed to charge as needed. The contact then received a recall notification of NHTSA Campaign Number: 23V369000 (Electrical System). The vehicle was towed to the dealer where the recall was completed; however, the contact stated that while charging the vehicle, the garage and the vehicle overheated. The contact stated that the vehicle was extremely hot near the high-voltage battery area. The contact was concerned that the issue could cause a fire. No warning lights were illuminated. The vehicle was taken to the dealer however, the failure could not be duplicated. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure and the contact was provided a case number. No further assistance was provided. The failure mileage was approximately 27,000.

- Summary: While driving a 2022 Jaguar I-Pace for 60 miles, the car came to a stop sign near its destination. At this point, the car would stutter and shake when attempting to accelerate, simultaneously the car would roll back since there was a slight decline in the road. Brakes were full functional throughout this time. However, no warnings were shown during the occurrence and by the time the driver was able to apply the brakes, the car had already rolled back approximately 2 feet. After this time, the car accelerated but the issue repeated itself at the next stop sign and again at the destination. While approaching a drive way at the destination with a 10-15% grade, the vehicle completely cut power halfway up the drive way. At this time the car rolled back into the street, approximately 6 feet, before the driver could react and apply brakes. Had there been someone standing or walking on the side walk at the end of the driveway, it would have resulted in severe injuries or even death. At the time, no vehicles were on the road, however if there were, the vehicle would have rolled into traffic before the driver is able to react. Power was regained approximately 10 seconds after rolling backwards. The vehicle was then parked curbside for approximately 4 hours. Upon starting and driving the vehicle again, the same issues with stuttering/shaking when accelerating from a standstill and sudden loss of power with any incline continued. The next day, the vehicle had to be towed to a Jaguar Land Rover dealer for investigation. No previous repair work or modifications have been done to the vehicle. All care and maintenance had been done according to the manual. Battery was also charged to 80% as recommended by the manual for optimal battery life. At the time the issues had started, the vehicle showed 48% battery life remaining. No previous issues or problems had occurred with the vehicle, no recalls or TSB in place as of 9/12/22 for the 2022 model year.

UPDATE: I am still loving this car at 11000 miles with no major issues. It is the best EV and car on the market. The I-Pace is fast, stylish, cutting edge, comfortable, and efficient. It is awesome in every single way. The Edmunds reviewers needed to put the car into high-regen mode to get one-pedal driving and smooth braking. The car cuts through traffic like a shark on steroids. You will hit 105 without even realizing it. At that speed, the I-Pace is rock steady, quiet, and just plain delicious. The self-driving feature takes the strain off traffic and long-distance travel while still keeping you alert. The long wheelbase and short length mean tons of interior space and an excellent ride. The air suspension lifts so you can hop the curb in the urban battlefield or ford a stream as you see fit. Then it can lower to let grandma in easily. The only downside is that it's expensive, but it's worth every penny. This is the best car I've ever driven or owned. BMW and Mercedes can't compete with this Jag. Tesla? Go read the horror stories on Tesla Motors Club. There are several new ones every single day, and they keep getting worse. The only coming competitor is the Taycan, and that not only will be more expensive, it won't have the versatility of a crossover. EQC? EQSlower and smaller inside, because it's a GLC, not a bespoke EV platform. The same goes for the Audi eTron. If you can afford an I-Pace, you can afford plane tickets. Charging is not an issue, you plug it in at night and it's full the next day. Don't be a fool sitting at a Supercharger, bragging about how you saved $10 by spending 60 minutes in a parking lot. This is the BEST. CAR. EVER!

We are thrilled with our new electric crossover! Although we have only driven 500 miles so far, we are thoroughly enjoying the comfortable ride, excellent handling, and beautiful design both inside and out. It's also super quiet with no rattles at all. While there are a few things we wish were different, such as having fully automatic steering wheel adjustment and more legroom in the rear, they are not deal-breakers. We would also love to have a Tesla-like network of charging locations, but until then, we'll use our SL Mercedes for road trips. We did have a minor issue with the charging handle staying locked into its socket, but we were able to resolve it using the under-hood release. We hope it doesn't happen again. Overall, we are very happy with our purchase and would recommend the I-Pace to others. Nice ride!Hello! I hope this message finds you well. I wanted to share our experience with the HSE I-Pace. A few months ago, we purchased this vehicle and I must say, we absolutely love it! As a retired couple who have owned multiple cars over the years, we can confidently say that the I-Pace is one of our favorite vehicles, if not our all-time favorite. We have had very few problems with it, and all except one were minor. The one issue we had was a failed 12V battery, but it was quickly replaced under warranty. I purchased my I Pace in October. Throughout my years, I have owned many incredible cars, including the Audi S8, BMW M5, and various other Mercedes, Audi, and BMW models. However, the I Pace is my favorite vehicle I have ever owned. The interior is stunning and surpasses the other cars I mentioned by a level or two. Driving this car is an absolute joy, and the electric acceleration is truly unbelievable until you have experienced it yourself. Lastly, this car is a real head-turner, and I am constantly stopped by people admiring it. I absolutely love it!

Edmunds is mistaken in their review of the regenerative braking system. In 'HIGH REGEN MODE', the system provides instant, powerful braking with smooth, non-jerky, one-pedal driving. It's plain and simple! It would be great if Edmunds could correct this inaccurate aspect of their review of the 2019 I Pace EV400/AWD vehicle. My I PACE performs perfectly, and when driving in ECO mode, I'm averaging a driving range of 224-239 miles. In fact, Jaguar has increased the driving range from 237 miles to 267 miles, with another increase to approximately 297 miles coming in the future. This puts the I PACE at comparative ranges with Tesla. The car has given us no problems and is a dream ride! I want to point out once again that Edmunds was incorrect in their initial review of the braking system, stating that it was 'grabby and jerky' using the regenerative braking system. The test driver had the car dialed in to the wrong setting (LOW) instead of the HIGH setting. When correctly set in the HIGH regen mode, the car is faultless at 'One Pedal Driving'. I'll probably get 100K miles before needing brakes. I still love my I PACE! The styling is unique and a mix of 'muscle' and elegance. People are constantly looking at the car and asking about it. It beats Tesla in many ways: easy to adjust settings without having to adjust Tesla's ONE SCREEN digital touch screen, which is dangerous while trying to make adjustments while staring at the screen and driving (I owned one); the interior trims: leather Reco racing seats; the glass roof doesn't overheat the cab like Tesla, and the handling is tighter than the Tesla on curves, etc. When the lease is up, I'm going to buy out the residual and keep the car.

I've been considering an EV for some time, and as my Jaguar XF lease was coming to an end, I was fortunate enough to find a 2019 HSE spec demo model at a nicely discounted price. I believe the best deals can be found on 2019 gently used models from a Jaguar dealership, where you can still take advantage of the Federal Tax credit of $7500, and have the option to lease or purchase. The I-Pace is truly one of the most stunning cars I have ever driven. The fit, finish, and technology are far superior to the 2017 XF. The HSE trim level provides you with almost everything you need and want in a luxury vehicle. The best thing about this car is how it drives! It's a joy to drive, with a great combination of power and handling. The compact size makes it easy to maneuver, while still providing me with just as much, if not more, room than the XF sedan. However, it's important to manage your expectations. Before you buy or lease, make sure you research and understand what you're getting into. The range and charging times may not be ideal for long road trips, and the range may decrease in cold weather or with more aggressive driving, which could lead to range anxiety. It's also important to note that owning this car without a home 240V charger may be difficult. I recommend calling a few electricians for quotes, as it could save you hundreds of dollars compared to going with the Jag recommended installers. Additionally, the vehicle doesn't come with a spare tire, so you may want to consider purchasing a tire inflation repair kit (about $50). While you can buy a spare from Jaguar, it takes up space in the back and there's no place to store it. Finally, if you're looking at reviews and comparisons, there will be endless options, particularly comparisons with other EVs like Tesla, Audi, and the upcoming Mercedes. The two things that sold me on the I-PACE were the beautiful design and the handling/drivability. If you're considering a vehicle in this segment, I highly recommend it as an option. Update (July 2022): I've owned this vehicle for 2 years now and it's still a joy to drive.After owning this vehicle for 5 years, I have unfortunately had to downgrade my rating from two stars to one star. While it still drives and performs well, it has spent a lot of time at the dealer due to significant electrical problems. As an EV owner, I would not recommend leasing or purchasing this vehicle again. Even after a diagnostic assessment, the dealer was unable to solve the problem and provided the same fix that did not work before. If you are considering buying the 2019 model, I would advise staying away from it.

Hi there! I leased my I-Pace back in December 2019 and, due to the pandemic, I haven't been able to drive it as much as I would have liked. Unfortunately, I've had a few issues with the car and have had to make a few warranty claims. The car has even had to be towed twice to the dealership due to some important failures. The most recent failure happened over three weeks ago and the car is still at the dealership for repairs. The dealership has informed me that there are some issues with the harness/gearbox and that parts had to be ordered. I've been in touch with Jaguar Corporate by email and phone at least twice a week since the incident, but I haven't received any reply back from them (except for an email indicating my case number). It's been a bit frustrating, especially since I'm paying for an expensive lease for an EV and have had to drive a lower cost, high fuel consumption vehicle that the dealership lent me. Not exactly what I was hoping for, but I'm hopeful that everything will be resolved soon.

I purchased a 2019 I-Pace because I was looking for a luxury EV. I was impressed with the design and the sales reps at my local dealership. In fact, I was so impressed that I purchased a second vehicle, a F-Type that same week. However, I did experience some issues with the I-Pace within two months of purchase. The car began to shake, not turn on even with a full battery, stall, brakes malfunctioning, and every warning light being illuminated. Despite four separate visits to the service department, Jaguar could not find the problem. They even recommended I lemon law it. It was frustrating to read reviews and discover that even Jaguar had severe concerns that the quality of their vehicles was sub par. To this date, I am still having issues and my lemon law claim is still pending. I hope Jaguar can address these issues and improve their product.

My 2019 I-Pace had some issues with the battery, which unfortunately led to a fire. Despite my complaints and several visits to the shop, the issue was not resolved. Jaguar International did contact me after the incident, but their response was not helpful. It is important for buyers to be aware of potential battery issues before purchasing a Jaguar. However, I can confidently say that Tesla stands behind their product and addresses any issues promptly.
