2013 Infiniti G37 problems
The Infiniti G Line is a series of compact executive cars manufactured and marketed by Infiniti, a luxury division of Nissan, for the 1991–1996 and 1999–2016 model years — across four generations.
The first two generations of the Infiniti G (P10 and P11) were sedans based on the Nissan Primera. Beginning with its third generation (V35), the Infiniti G have been rebadged versions of the Nissan Skyline line of sedans and coupes that were exported to the United States and Canada. The fourth generation (V36) introduced the hardtop coupe convertible. The Nissan FM platform, used with the third and fourth generations (V35 and V36) of the Infiniti G, also underpins the Nissan 370Z and has shared components with the Infiniti M, Infiniti EX, and Infiniti FX.
Infiniti established a new naming convention beginning with the 2014 model year; all passenger cars are designated by the letter "Q," while sport-utility model names begin with "QX." The Infiniti G was to have been replaced by the Infiniti Q50, but the G37 was revived as the Q40 beginning with the 2015 model year.

Is the 2013 Infiniti G37 reliable?
The 2013 G37 has a reliability score of 4.5 out of five from J.D. Power. That's among the best scores in the entire industry.
What is the best year for INFINITI G37?
I'd say the 2011 G37. The coupe and convertible models are well designed two door cars with great performance and handling similar to a BMW M3. These models were aimed at drivers looking for a mature car with a sporty touch. The coupe has a lower, wider stance and gets more curve lines than its predecessor.
Does INFINITI G37 have transmission problems?
If you don't routinely and consistently change your fluids at least every 30,000 miles or so, you may find that your INFINITI G37 transmission will swiftly slip. Check your car's owner's manual for more advice on the specific mileage intervals in which your transmission needs the fluid changed.
Why does G37 go into limp mode?
When one of the signals is abnormal, the car will revert to limp mode to prevent further damage. Problems which cause signals like this are usually faulty engine sensors/components/wiring, transmission issues, dysfunctional brakes and clutch, or even low fluid levels.

STRUCTURE PROBLEM
- Date Of Incident: 2023-06-17
- VIN: JN1CV6AR3DM
- Components: STRUCTURE
- Summary: 2013 G37 with only 58K in miles. The passenger interior was flooded after some rainstorms. The dealer has provided me an estimate of $3,000 to repair the sunroof drain and the water damage to the body control module (BCM). Infiniti Consumer Affairs has been zero help. They just gave me the run around. There are tons of videos and posts regarding the defect with the sunroof drain.
AIR BAGS PROBLEM
- Date Of Incident: 2023-07-14
- VIN: JN1CV6FE4DM
- Components: AIR BAGS
- Summary: The air bag sensor and lights indicated that the passenger side air bag was not operating. We took the vehicle to the Infiniti Dealer and they did a diagnostic test and determined that the sensor in the passenger seat was not working. We were told that in the event of a collision that the air bags in the entire car would not deploy if the passenger air bag was not replaced. In order to have operating air bags the passenger seat would need to be replaced. The cost of the seat was 7,452.84 and the labor was 525.00. This repair was completed on 12/13/2021. It is now 7/18/23 and the passenger air bag light is now illuminated again. This repair is past the one year warranty. My wife is the only driver of this vehicle and rarely has anyone using the front passenger seat. There was a recall (number 08v522100) for this same issue fir 2007/08 G models. Please investigate this safety issue before someone is seriously injured due to this failure.
STEERING PROBLEM

AIR BAGS PROBLEM
- Date Of Incident: 2023-04-29
- Number Of Injuries: 1
- Crash: 1
- VIN: JN1CV6FE0DM
- Components: AIR BAGS
- Summary: My son was driving the car and someone failed to yield in a roundabout and hit him. The passenger side curtain airbag deployed and popped. Now he has ringing in his ear and possible ear drum damage. Doctors appointment is scheduled to confirm that.
ELECTRICAL SYSTEM PROBLEM
- Date Of Incident: 2023-03-23
- VIN: JN1CV6APXDM
- Components: ELECTRICAL SYSTEM
- Summary: Immediately when I started driving, the sensors on my dashboard started lighting up. First the air pressure sensor, then the Tire serve sensor, and finally the key sensor. My turn signals were malfunctioning. They would go on and off without me triggering them. Then every time I came to a stop and accelerated again, my car would jerk back. I eventually pulled over and my car wouldn’t even turn off. I had to put the key fob in the key slot to get the car to turn off. Then, the car would not start back up. I had to have the car towed to the Dealership. When I arrived at the Dealership, they told me that there were two other cars there having similar issues caused by rain water getting into the electrical. Here is the diagnosis they gave me: UPON INSPECTION AND SITTING IN VEHICLE CAN SMELL AND FEEL DAMPNESS FROM CARPET. FURTHER INSPECTION FOUND WATER FROM SUNROOF DRAIN TUBES LEAKING WATER INTO THE BODY CONTROL COMPUTER AND CAUSED ELECTRICAL SHORT CIRCUIT WITH INTELLIGENT KEY SYSTEM AND IGNITION SYSTEM. PERFORMED ELECTRICAL TEST AND TRACED SOURCE OF FAILURE TO THE BODY CONTROL UNIT. (THE BODY CONTROL MODULE CONTROLS KEYS, DOOR LOCKS, VEHICLE IGNITION START, AND TURN SIGNALS), AND VEHICLE LIGHTS). INSPECTION FOUND THERE IS A SHORT IN THE BODY CONTROL UNIT COMPUTER DUE TO WATER INTRUSION. REMOVED BODY CONTROL COMPUTER UNIT AND FOUND WATER INSIDE THE CONNECTOR PLUGS. BODY CONTROL MODULE COMPUTER SHORT CIRCUIT AND IS COMPROMISED. NEED TO REPLACE SUN ROOF DRAIN TUBES TO ELIMINATE WATER INTRUSION INTO THE CABIN AREA AND ALSO TO REPLACE BODY CONTROL UNIT COMPUTER. It’s highly unlikely that there would be 3 cars with similar issues at one dealership on any given day if this was NOT a manufacturers issue. Please help me get reimbursed and start a recall for this dangerous issue. Thank you
AIR BAGS PROBLEM
- Date Of Incident: 2022-06-10
- VIN: JN1CV6EL4DM
- Components: AIR BAGS
- Summary: Brought my car in to fix a/c auto amp behind radio cause fuel gauge was not giving correct readings.. 2 days after receiving vehicle my airbag light turned on and is blinking and Infiniti won’t take responsibility and saying they have to fix diag sensor in center console which is 2400 dollars and if that don’t fix issue they have to replace passenger seat cushion which is 5000 dollars which is on back order and may not even be able to get part at all cause they don’t make part anymore. so I have a vehicle that I’m still paying on that will never pass inspection and it’s very upsetting that I have to take such a huge loss like this and don’t know how Infiniti is getting away with this when it should be recall.. I looked up on forums and seen dozens of complaints from ppl about the same exact issue specially after having the a/c auto amp fixed.. I also contact state and recall and they said that’s not right but they needs more complaints to do basic investigation..I really hope something gets done about this
ELECTRICAL SYSTEM PROBLEM
- Date Of Incident: 2023-01-07
- VIN: JN1CV6AP4DM
- Components: ELECTRICAL SYSTEM
- Summary: My vehicle fuel gauge reading recently started malfunctioning. It showed 1/8 tank and 40 miles left before I needed gas. The gas warning light came on. However within a minute, it showed 1/4 tank and 80 miles left before I ran out of gas. So I thought I was OK because I was on the freeway and I was getting better mileage, so I could travel further. I drove about 10 more miles and all of a sudden the warning light came on and said I only had about 2 miles of gas left. My car started sputtering and I ran out of gas on the freeway. I was VERY lucky I was able to coast (no power) onto the emergency shoulder. I called AAA to bring me gas. I felt very unsafe being on the side of the freeway in Los Angeles, cars were passing me at 70+ mph, and several cars swerved to avoid me, even with my emergency blinkers on. I thought it might have been a glitch that only happened once, so I have been very careful about filling my gas well before I think it needs it. But then it happened again the other day. My gauge showed 1/4 tank with about 75 miles left but then a few minutes later it showed 1/2 tank with around 150 miles left. I stopped for gas and it took nearly 15 gallons (it only holds 17 gallons). This is extremely dangerous, and many other G35/G37 owners have this problem. (I have seen the exact same issues with fuel gauge readings in Infiniti G37 forums). My cluster is working (I ran the cluster diagnostic and all gauges are functioning) so I believe it must be either the fuel sensor, the float arm or possibly an AC Amp (a part that controls all the information sent to the gauge cluster, found near the radio?) I also saw that Nissan/Infiniti had a recall almost identical to this. Recall 10V074000. THIS COULD CAUSE THE VEHICLE TO RUN OUT OF GAS AND STALL ON THE HIGHWAY, WHICH COULD CAUSE A CRASH. Please advise if this can be investigated as a potential safety hazard and recall for my vehicle. Thank you!
ELECTRICAL SYSTEM,STRUCTURE,VISIBILITY/WIPER PROBLEM
- Date Of Incident: 2023-01-07
- VIN: JN1CV6AP9DM
- Components: ELECTRICAL SYSTEM,STRUCTURE,VISIBILITY/WIPER
- Summary: Sunroof drain failure causing rain water from the outside of the vehicle to enter the interior flooding the passenger side going from the front seats to the back seats. Due to the sunroof drain defect, the flooding of the interior causes the water to get into the body control module impacting the electronics which can result in numerous failures in the vehicle making it dangerous to drive. There are numerous videos on YouTube and posts on online forums describing this very issue which is extremely common with the G37. Infiniti dealer confirms the issue, but takes absolutely no responsibility. The cost of the repairs to the sunroof drain and body control module are completely placed on the consumer.

- Summary: My 2013 Infiniti G37 convertible has under 30,000 miles. The seat belt light/airbag warning light started flashing and did not turn off after seat belts were fastened. I called the Mobile, AL Infiniti dealer to get an appointment. They suggested because this was a saftey issue and they were so backed up that I take the vehicle to a Nissan dealer, which I did. The service department informed me that the sensor in the lower seat assemble was bad ad needed to be replaced (part number 87300JJ84A). They then told me they did not have the labor cost yet but the part was over $8300. I started researching this problem on the internet and found this was common problem with many of the Nissan products.

The contact was able to drive the vehicle to a dealer where they replaced the transmission valve battery. Soon after the repair, the contact stated that the vehicle would hesitate without warning upon depression of the accelerator pedal. The contact took the vehicle back to dealer and was informed that the control valve assembly and the speed sensor also needed to be replaced. The contact drove the vehicle home and replaced the control valve assembly himself. After the repair, the contact stated that while driving up an incline, the vehicle would hesitate upon depression of the accelerator without warning. The vehicle had yet to be repaired. AIR BAGS PROBLEM
- Date Of Incident: 2021-01-04
- VIN: JN1CV6FE1DM
- Components: AIR BAGS
- Summary: The air bag warning light for the passenger air bag on my 2013 Infiniti G37 is constantly flashing on my dash and the passenger air bag off message is always on in my vehicle, even when my wife is sitting in the seat, and I have not had an accident. The light just started flashing on its own approximately 6 months ago. This would seem to me to be a legitimate safety issue. If I were in an accident, regardless of whose fault, and my wife was in the passenger's seat, she could sustain serious injuries due to the fact that the passenger air bag did not deploy due to a faulty sensor.
AIR BAGS PROBLEM
- Date Of Incident: 2021-04-05
- VIN: JN1CV6FE1DM
- Components: AIR BAGS
- Summary: Approximately 2 months ago, the air bag warning light on the dash started flashing along with the icon on the front display warning about the passenger side airbag being off. There was no person sitting in the seat, nor was there any small items on the passenger seat. I looked up online how to reset the dash warning light and this worked up until about one week ago. Also, when someone now sits in the passenger seat, the warning light starts flashing along with the front display warning of the passenger side airbag being off. This would seem like a manufacturer defect and a safety hazard for any front passenger in my vehicle.
AIR BAGS PROBLEM
- Date Of Incident: 2021-06-07
- VIN: jn1cv6ap1dm
- Components: AIR BAGS
- Summary: The airbag light on the dash was flashing. The airbag light that indicates the passenger airbag is not on stays on even if a person is sitting in the passenger seat. This means that the airbag is not active when there is someone sitting in the passenger seat. If I got into an accident and the passenger airbag did not deploy, it could cause serious bodily injury to the passenger. The cost to repair is more than half of what the car is worth. In the picture, you can see the second item in the list is to replace the passenger seat sensor.

MY DEALER COULD NOT PROVIDE THE DOT SERIAL NUMBERS BECAUSE THE TIRES WERE REPLACED WITH NEW ONES. I CALLED COOPER TIRE CONSUMER RELATIONS AND WAS TOLD THEY CANNOT PROVIDE A REMEDY IF I DO NOT HAVE THE TIRES WITH THE DOT NUMBERS. I BELIEVE I HAVE BEEN PENALIZED BECAUSE I HAD A SAFETY PROBLEM WITH THE TIRES THAT CAUSED ME TO REPLACE THEM AND CAN THEREFORE NOT PROVIDE THE REQUIRED DOCUMENTATION. - Date Of Incident: 2020-12-07
- Crash: 1
- VIN: JN1CV6FE1DM
- Components: SERVICE BRAKES,ENGINE,FUEL/PROPULSION SYSTEM
- Summary: ON THE SUNNY AND DRY MORNING OF DECEMBER 9, 2020, I PROCEEDED TO ALPINE CEMETERY, PERTH AMBOY, NJ TO HONOR MY MOTHER'S GRAVE SITE AND HER ANNIVERSARY. AS I PASSED THE GATE ENTRANCE TO THE CEMETERY, I TURNED RIGHT; AS I HAVE ALWAYS DONE IN PREVIOUS YEARS. ONCE I TURNED TO THE RIGHT I NOTICED THAT THERE WAS A BURIAL PROCESSION, WITH THE FUNERAL HEARSE OBSTRUCTING THE ENTIRE VEHICLE PATH. SINCE I COULD NOT DRIVE FORWARD, THE ONLY RECOURSE I HAD WAS TO TURN AROUND AND FIND ANOTHER VEHICLE PATH. ONCE I HAD TAKEN THE NEW PATH, WHICH I BELIEVE WOULD LEAD ME TO MY MOTHER'S GRAVE SITE, I REALIZED THAT I COULD NOT REACH HER GRAVE SITE SINCE IT WAS FURTHER UP THE NEW PATH. ONCE I TURNED THE VEHICLE TO THE LEFT; THE VEHICLE WENT AUTOMATICALLY BACKWARDS THEN FORWARDS WITH THE SENSATION OF TAKING OFF THE GROUND LIKE AN AIRPLANE. I HAD NO CONTROL OF THE VEHICLE AND THE VEHICLE PROCEEDED AUTOMATICALLY HITTING NUMEROUS TOMB STONES UNTIL ONE TOMB STONE STOPPED THE VEHICLE. THIS FAILURE OCCURRED NUMEROUS TIMES UNTIL A 3FT TOMB STONE STOPPED THE VEHICLE. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE CAR REPAIR SHOP, INSTRUCTED BY NJM INSURANCE; VNF AUTO BODY 732-321-6919, 20 PROSPECT STREET, METUCHEN NJ 08840.
AIR BAGS,UNKNOWN OR OTHER PROBLEM

- VIN: JN1CV6FE0DM
- Components: AIR BAGS,UNKNOWN OR OTHER
- Summary: PASSENGER AIRBAG SENSOR FAILED AND RESULTS IN A $7000 FIX. THEIR SOLUTION TO THE PROBLEM IS A BRAND NEW SEAT. MY SON EXITED THE VEHICLE AND THE AIRBAG LIGHT STARTED BLINKING AND NOW DOESN'T STOP, WHICH MEANS THE AIRBAG ISN'T ON. ALSO, ONE OF THE MOTORS RESPONSIBLE FOR A FLAP WHICH FOLDS THE TOP DOWN HAS FAILED, MAKING THE TOP STOP HALFWAY DOWN. THE CONVERTIBLE TOP HAS FOUR MOTORS (ONE FOR EACH FLAP). AND IT'S NEARLY $2000 PER MOTOR. THE PART IS BACK ORDERED, SO IT MAKES ME THINK IT IS A COMMON PROBLEM. BOTH OF THESE ISSUES ARE COMMONLY REPORTED BY G37 OWNERS ON THE INTERNET.
UNKNOWN OR OTHER PROBLEM
- Date Of Incident: 2020-09-14
- VIN: JN1CV6AR6DM

I AM CONCERNED THAT THAT MY ELECTRONICS AND WIRING UNDER THE CARPET MAY BE DAMAGED AS WELL AS CAUSE MOLD AND MILDEW. PLUS IT WILL CAUSE ME FINANCIAL DIFFICULTIES BUT NOT BECAUSE OF MY NEGLECT BUT BECAUSE OF SOME FAULT WITH THE CAR'S MANUFACTURING. THE VEHICLE WAS STATIONARY IN MY DRIVEWAY WHEN MY WIFE TOLD ME THAT HER SIDE THE PASSENGER SIDE WAS WET.
