The Infiniti G Line is a series of compact executive cars manufactured and marketed by Infiniti, a luxury division of Nissan, for the 1991–1996 and 1999–2016 model years — across four generations.

The first two generations of the Infiniti G (P10 and P11) were sedans based on the Nissan Primera. Beginning with its third generation (V35), the Infiniti G have been rebadged versions of the Nissan Skyline line of sedans and coupes that were exported to the United States and Canada. The fourth generation (V36) introduced the hardtop coupe convertible. The Nissan FM platform, used with the third and fourth generations (V35 and V36) of the Infiniti G, also underpins the Nissan 370Z and has shared components with the Infiniti M, Infiniti EX, and Infiniti FX.

Infiniti established a new naming convention beginning with the 2014 model year; all passenger cars are designated by the letter "Q," while sport-utility model names begin with "QX." The Infiniti G was to have been replaced by the Infiniti Q50, but the G37 was revived as the Q40 beginning with the 2015 model year.

I've had an '09 G37x and now a '13 G37xS, and can verify with my other pro mechanics that the G37 is one of the most reliable autos ever produced anywhere by anybody. Simply disconnecting the battery can damage the module, which then causes the airbag malfunction light on the instrument cluster to turn on. It is unclear weather or not the airbag will function when this occurs. Presumably, it will not. The dealer solution for this is to replace the module, at a cost of over $1000. Fortunately, it is possible to remove the module and send it to a 3rd party who can reflash a chip. However, doing this every time a random electrical glitch (common ) causes the warning system to trip is dangerous.

THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER (MOSSY NISSAN KEARNY MESA 8118 CLAIREMONT MESA BLVD, SAN DIEGO, CA 92111 (858) 201-6606) WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THERE WAS A FAILURE IN THE OCCUPANT CLASSIFICATION SYSTEM CONTROL UNIT AND IT NEEDED TO BE REPLACED ALONG WITH THE FRONT PASSENGER SEAT CUSHION. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE CONTACT RESEARCHED ONLINE AND FOUND NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER: 08V521000 (AIR BAGS, ELECTRICAL SYSTEM). I HAVE BEEN TOLD THAT MY VEHICLE WITH LESS THAN 50K MILES WAS NOT ON THE RECALL LIST. THIS IS A SAFETY ISSUE WHICH WILL BE VERY EXPENSIVE TO REPAIR AND SHOULD BE TAKEN CARE OF BY INFINITI AS PART OF THEIR RECALL. I DO NOT UNDERSTANDING WHY THIS SAME ISSUE DOES NOT INCLUDE MY VIN NUMBER BUT WAS APPLICABLE TO OTHER SAME MAKE, MODEL AND YEAR CARS AS MINE. ARE THERE ANY OTHER AVENUES I CAN PURSUE TO FIGHT THIS?

  • Summary: NISSAN IS RECALLING 204,361 MY 2007-2008 ALTIMA, ALTIMA HYBRID, 350Z, 350Z ROADSTER, MY 2008 ALTIMA COUPE, ROGUE, MY 2009 MURANO, AND INFINITI MY 2007-2008 G35 SEDAN, MY 2008 G37 COUPE AND EX35 PASSENGER VEHICLES EQUIPPED WITH CONTINENTAL AUTOMOTIVE SYSTEMS' OCCUPANT CLASSIFICATION SYSTEM (OCS) CONTROL UNITS. A VARISTOR IN THE OCS CONTROL UNIT LOCATED IN THE PASSENGER SEAT CUSHION MAY HAVE BEEN MANUFACTURED OUT OF SPECIFICATION. UNDER CERTAIN CONDITIONS, THIS COULD CAUSE AN INTERRUPTION OF SIGNAL BETWEEN THE OCS AND THE AIR BAG CONTROL UNIT (ACU).
  • Consequence: THIS COULD RESULT IN THE PASSENGER AIR BAG BEING SUPPRESSED WHICH COULD FAIL TO PROVIDE ADEQUATE PROTECTION IN THE EVENT OF A CRASH.
  • Remedy: DEALERS WILL TEST THE SIGNAL BETWEEN THE OCS AND ACU SYSTEMS USING A SPECIAL TOOL TO CHECK THAT IT IS FUNCTIONING AS DESIGNED. IF NECESSARY, THE SEAT CUSHION (CONTAINING OCS HARDWARE) WILL BE REPLACED WITH A NEW ONE MANUFACTURED TO SPECIFICATION. THE RECALL BEGAN ON NOVEMBER 4, 2008. OWNERS MAY CONTACT NISSAN AT 1-800-647-7261 OR INFINITI AT 1-800-662-6200.

    I have experience with a 2002 BMW M3 SMG and a 2008 Audi A4 6-Speed (GIAC chipped), and I found the G37S to be slower than both, perhaps only slightly faster than my A4 (again GIAC chipped). Additionally, the steering did not feel as tight as it did in my previous cars. At 28k miles, I noticed a lot of abnormal wear on the plastics and leather. Unfortunately, the built quality inside the car is comparable to that of a Honda Civic. While I had hoped to like this car, I believe that the 335i (which is often compared to the G37S) is a better car overall.

    This car may not be the best option if you need to transport passengers in the backseat, especially if they are on the larger side. However, it is a reliable 2008 model that still performs well and has effective safety features. The driving experience is enjoyable, with excellent handling even in wet conditions, and the front seats are incredibly comfortable. Personally, I have owned two of these cars and have enjoyed them thoroughly. Although, for my next vehicle, I am considering a small SUV to accommodate my need for more space to transport both people and belongings.

    I bought the 6MT version with the manual 6 speed, nav, prem, tech, all wheel steering. I'm so happy with everything about the car! The handling is unbelievable and the acceleration is fantastic. The Bose system is great and it's wonderful to be able to store CDs on a hard drive and not carry them in the car. Just a friendly reminder, don't buy this car and complain about the MPG.

    This 2008 model is even better than its predecessor. After three weeks of driving, I can confidently say that this car, with all its options, is almost everything I had hoped for. As someone who has driven Mustang GTs for many years, I can attest that this car is much more refined and luxurious. The sound system and navigation are excellent, and even at high speeds (100MPH) on the highway, the car is well-controlled and surprisingly quiet in terms of both road and wind noise. While the power band on this engine doesn't come alive until you get above 3000 RPM, revving it up beyond 4000 will definitely give you a nice push. Overall, I'm very impressed with this car and would highly recommend it to anyone looking for a stylish and comfortable ride.

    This car is truly impressive for a luxury vehicle. It offers a thrilling and enjoyable driving experience while still maintaining the sophisticated feel of a luxury car. I appreciate that with just the Premium Package, you can get all the features you want and still keep the price around $37K. There are only a few RWD luxury sport coupes available with a stick shift for under $50K, and this one is definitely the best value. I found it to be just as good as a BMW (I test drove both several times) but for about $10K less.

    I've driven all sorts of sports cars. I was looking for an all-around sports car that could handle winter conditions as well. This car delivers. While it may not beat many other sports cars off the line, the mid powerband in the car is wonderful, providing steady and constant power throughout the large band. One thing I don't particularly like is that the clutch seems a bit mushy. Overall, though, this car is much sexier than a 335 by BMW. With the blend of luxury and performance, there really isn't anything out there in this price point that competes with it well.
