2004 Hyundai Xg350 problems

The Hyundai Grandeur (Korean: 현대 그랜저) is an executive sedan manufactured and marketed by the South Korean manufacturer Hyundai since 1986, over five generations.
From 1986 to 1996, the Grandeur was the flagship for Hyundai's South Korean range before the Hyundai Dynasty was introduced. It is marketed globally as the Hyundai Azera. As the Azera, it was the flagship of Hyundai's US and Canadian lineup until the arrival of the Genesis sedan. After the launch of the separate Genesis brand, the Grandeur/Azera resumed its place as the company's flagship.
As of the 2017 model year, the Azera is no longer marketed in the United States and Canada. The sedan continued to be available in South Korea and the Middle East.

Common 2004 Hyundai Xg350 problems
The Hyundai XG350, introduced in 2004, is known for its reliability and affordability. However, some common problems have been reported by owners, including:
- Rough Idle Due to Faulty EGR Switching Valve: The EGR (Exhaust Gas Recirculation) system in the Hyundai XG350 helps reduce harmful emissions by recirculating a portion of the exhaust gas back into the engine. A faulty EGR switching valve can cause a rough idle, which is when the engine shakes or vibrates excessively when idling. This issue can be resolved by replacing the faulty EGR switching valve.
- Steering Wheel Squeak: Some owners have reported an annoying squeak in the steering wheel, which is present whenever the wheel is turned. The dealer has reportedly mentioned that this is a common problem in all XG350s, and there is nothing they can do to fix it. This issue can be frustrating, especially during long drives.
- CD Player Failure: Some owners have reported that their CD player stopped working shortly after the warranty expired. This can be an inconvenience for those who enjoy listening to CDs during their commute.
- Water Pump Issues: Some owners have reported issues with the water pump, which can cause the car to overheat and potentially lead to engine damage. Regular maintenance and timely replacement of the water pump can help prevent this issue.
- AM Radio Static: Some owners have reported that the AM radio channels have a lot of static, making it difficult to listen to AM radio stations. This issue can be caused by various factors, including interference from other electronic devices or a faulty antenna.
It's important to note that these issues are not universal, and many Hyundai XG350 owners have reported having no major problems with their vehicles. Regular maintenance and timely repairs can help prevent these issues and ensure the longevity of the vehicle.
Is a Hyundai XG350 a good car?
The ride is comfortable and steadier than past Hyundai models, and handling is fairly responsive. The 263-hp, 3.8-liter V6 has good power but only fair fuel economy. Owners should use the manual parking brake until they can get a free recall fix. If you're looking for a new car, these models might be worth the wait.
How many miles does a 2004 Hyundai XG350 last?
All the standards for your maintenance are in your owners manual. Engines today can easily make it to 200k miles with no major defects, just stay on top of the maintenance. Hyundai has been putting out very quality engines lately and you could expect even more miles than that!
What is the engine capacity of Hyundai XG350?
3.5-liter V6
Hyundai's flagship sedan comes in two trim levels: XG350 ($24,399) and XG350L ($25,999). XG350 is powered by a 3.5-liter V6, which drives the front wheels through a five-speed automatic transmission with the company's dual-gate, Shiftronic manual override system.

I traded in my 2000 Cadillac Seville for a 2004 XG350L and I must say, the Cadillac was not up to par. Before the Cadillac, I owned a Lincoln Town Car. Both cars ran and rode fine, but I found that American cars lose their value once they turn 5 years old and exceed 100,000 miles. This is frustrating considering the initial cost. I chose Hyundai for the warranty, but I was pleasantly surprised by the level of luxury and comfort that the XG350 provided. It exceeded my expectations!

I traded my 05 Chevy C1500 to my sister for this car. My wife is the main driver and she absolutely loves it. The ride is smooth and it feels solid, not tinny like some smaller cars. It has decent power (although I'm used to V8 cars with manual transmissions) and can out run most similar cars. It has almost every option you can think of, except for HID lights and navigation. It currently has 45,000 miles on it and the only warranty work needed was a replacement sensor for the emissions system on the gas tank. The brakes are good and there have been no problems with warpage of the rotors, even when driving down mountains every day. The radio is decent and gets the job done, but it's not a DB drag winner. In my opinion, it's the best car for the money in its price range. I highly recommend checking it out first when looking at cars.

Purchased new in 2004, my XG has been a reliable and trustworthy car. Despite its weight, it provides a smooth and stable ride even on rough roads. With many features of more expensive cars, it has exceeded my expectations. I currently have 80k miles on it and will have it paid off in a month. While this would normally mean deciding on a new car, I have decided to keep this one. I fully expect to get another 80k miles out of it before considering selling.

In general, I am quite pleased with my Hyundai GX350. However, one thing that is troublesome is the poor gas mileage. Additionally, the lighting on the temperature gauge is impossible to read. Despite these issues, it is a fun car to drive and it gives a very smooth ride. I highly recommend this car.

I looked at all cars in this price range and found that none of the American cars, Honda or Nissan could come close. However, I am very happy with my new car and not worried about its 100,000 mile warranty. I have been driving it for almost three months now and recently stopped by the dealership to say hello and let them know how much I am enjoying the car. I also informed the service department that everything is in order.

This mid-sized luxury sedan is a true gem! It's beautiful to look at and a joy to drive. The ride is smooth, and the handling is very good. The car comes with an excellent list of standard equipment, including up-to-date safety features and excellent brakes. Every time I open the door and see the interior, it makes me smile. I keep smiling as I drive away, thinking of the superb car I got for so little money. It has the look and feel of a much more expensive car. The warranty is $1000 better than most factory warranties, making it an even better value. Our new 2005 XG350L is absolutely amazing for under $19k + ttl price paid. For that kind of money, it's a perfect 10! Drive and compare, and you'll see why you should buy one too!

My goal was to find a reliable and spacious car for my wife. I ruled out domestic cars due to their history of disappointing buyers. While Japanese cars were an option, I was looking for something more. That's when I discovered the Korean cars, which are quickly gaining popularity. Ultimately, I chose the XG 350 and we couldn't be happier with it. While it may not be a Maybach, it doesn't try to be anything it's not.

I purchased my first car on January 24th, 2004. Unfortunately, I experienced severe electrical problems with it. However, the dealer was kind enough to replace the car on January 30th, 2004. The replacement car has been in the shop twice for transmission shifting problems, with a clank and rough shift from 1st gear to 2nd and 2nd to 3rd. I asked the dealer to buy back the car, but he offered us $9000 less than what we had paid, despite having put only 1400 miles on the car. Additionally, the windshield wipers are quite noisy and I feel a sense of tip-over when driving on curves. I am not happy with this car or the way the dealer has handled the situation, but I suppose I am stuck with it. My advice would be to avoid purchasing this car.
