  • Summary: At first brakes were making noise so I went to replace them after getting parts and I noticed that the brake pedal went to the floor I was able to get it on concrete pad but when I jacked it up I say big chunks of rust falling when I looked under car rear axle subframe was pretty much gone after I say that I decided to order the replacement subframe but when it come in and I was getting ready to do it I body mount where it is bolted also needs replaced I was trying to find them when I come across a factory recall about this issue when I contacted them and the dealer about this issue dealer said it couldn't be done because there was nothing left and he refused to put on a lift because he said the rear subframe would fall on ground but manufacturer denied to repair or make any resolutions for it even though they had in past and they new about the problem I have found over 1000 issues listed and they have repaired a bunch of the same vehicles for the same issue I told them I never received anything about the issue and they said it was my responsibility not there's so not only did they not do or even try to do what they have on recall but they refused to do anything for me and I was glad I didn't try driving after I heard noise because I could of caused a major accident and been severely injured in process not to mention someone else due to rear frame and brakes falling and falling out of car

NEXT THING I KNOW, MY CAR ACCELERATED OUT OF NOWHERE AND WAS ALMOST LIKE DRIVING ITSELF AT 20MPH (THE SPEED IT WAS STUCK ON EVEN AFTER SLOWING DOWN). ALSO WHILE ON THE HIGH WAY IT DID THE SAME THING-- ACCELERATED ON ITS OWN AND JERKED TO THE RIGHT. I HAD TO PRETTY MUCH HURRY AND CATCH THE WHEEL BEFORE SLAMMING INTO ANOTHER CAR WHILE ON A TURN AND GOING ABOUT 55MPH. AT RANDOM TIMES IT WILL ACCELERATE AND PRETTY MUCH DRIVE ITSELF WHILE I AM DRIVING. I TYPICALLY HAVE TO APPLY PLENTY OF PRESSURE TO THE BRAKES TO KEEP IT FROM ROLLING WHILE I AM STOPPED. ALSO I AM HAVING AN ISSUE WITH OVERHEATING. IF I IDLE TOO LONG THE CAR WILL OVERHEAT, EVEN THOUGH THE TANK IS FULL. EVEN WITH ADDING MORE IN, THE TANK STAYS WHERE IT IS, IT DOESN'T OVERFLOW. IT'S ALMOST AS IF THE CAR IS JUST DRINKING IT BUT IT'S NOT FILTERING THROUGH THE HOSE IF THAT MAKES SENSE. The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) has issued 5 recalls for different components of the 2006 Hyundai Tucson.

  • Summary: Hyundai Motor Company (Hyundai) is recalling certain model year 2006-2009 Accent, model year 2007-2011 Azera, Sonata and Sante Fe,2006-2011 Tucson, 2009-2011 Elantra Touring, 2007-2010 Elantra, 2008-2011 Veracruz, 2009-2011 Genesis, 2010-2011 Genesis Coupe, 2007-2008 Entourage, and 2006-2008 Tiburon vehicles. Originally, in April 2013, Hyundai recalled 1,059,824 model year 2007-2009 Accent and Tucson, model year 2007-2010 Elantra, model year 2007-2011 Santa Fe, model year 2008-2009 Veracruz, model year 2010-2011 Genesis Coupe, and model year 2011 Sonata vehicles. In September 2013, Hyundai informed the agency that it was adding more vehicles to this campaign, representing an additional 652,512 units. The total number of vehicles being recalled is now 1,712,336. In the affected vehicles, the stop lamp switch may malfunction. A malfunctioning stop lamp switch may cause the brake lights to not illuminate when the brake pedal is depressed or may cause an inability to deactivate the cruise control by depressing the brake pedal. Additionally, a malfunctioning stop lamp switch may also result in intermittent operation of the push-button start feature, affect the operation of the brake transmission shift interlock feature, preventing the shifter from being moved out of the PARK position and cause the Electronic Stability Control (ESC) malfunction light to illuminate.
  • Consequence: Failure to illuminate the stop lamps during braking or inability to disengage the cruise control could increase the risk of a crash. Additionally, when the ignition is in the 'ON' position, the transmission shifter may be able to be moved out of Park without first applying the brake. This may lead to unintentional movement of the car which may increase the risk of a crash.
  • Remedy: Hyundai will notify owners, and dealers will replace the stop lamp switch, free of charge. The safety recall began on April 22, 2013. Owners may contact Hyundai at 1-800-633-5151. Hyundai's recall campaign number is 110.

    We purchased a 2006 Hyundai Tucson GLS 2.7L 4 speed Automatic in the fall of 2006 and have taken great care of it, ensuring it is maintained every 3000 miles or 3 months. However, after 3 years and approximately 30,000 miles, we experienced significant issues with the 4WD, transmission, and power steering. Unfortunately, it has been at the dealer for a month now waiting for a rebuilt transmission and rear struts that recently started leaking. Despite this, we remain hopeful that the dealer will resolve the issues soon. While we have had some challenges with this vehicle, we appreciate the time we have had with it and are now considering a RAV4 as a replacement SUV. Thank you for your understanding.

    Hi there! I hope you're doing well. I wanted to share my experience with my Tucson, which I purchased back in May 05. Unfortunately, I've had a few problems with it since hitting the 30k mile mark. I've found that the dealership isn't the best when it comes to repairs. Additionally, I've noticed that this car seems to be built somewhat poorly. For example, I have a small 'swipe dent' below the door frame that would cost around $4,000 to replace by taking off the whole side paneling. Parts are also quite expensive. For instance, just to have my bumper replaced after a small fender bender was about $1500, compared to other cars that cost no more than $800 for a bumper. I've also found that the interior isn't as roomy or comfortable as I would like. Unusual things have been breaking like crazy, such as the armrest panel, shifter, and steering wheel. Like others have said, I've found that it's quite noisy and the gas mileage isn't great. All in all, I wouldn't recommend buying a Hyundai. Let me know if you have any questions!

    Since my purchase, I have experienced a few minor problems with this vehicle. Unfortunately, the dealer seems surprised by any issues that arise. Currently, I am experiencing an electrical problem where the battery goes dead after 3 days of not running the vehicle. The dealer has replaced the battery, but the problem still persists. Despite my inquiries about solutions to the problem, I have not received any response from Jenkins or Hyundai USA. I want to assure you that this problem does exist and I will not rest until it is resolved.

    I purchased my 2006 Tucson new and had high expectations for it. Unfortunately, I have experienced several issues with the vehicle. The rotors warped at 300 miles and again at 14,500, and I have had to replace the radio due to battery drainage on two occasions. Additionally, the moonroof whistles and the interior is prone to marking and difficult to clean. Despite being rated for 19 and 24, the best gas mileage I have achieved is 21.7. Overall, my experience with the vehicle has been disappointing and I would not consider purchasing another Hyundai. The alarm system also seems to be confusing.

    The brakes went out under warranty, but unfortunately, they failed again at 58000 miles. We had the ESC and ABS lights and system recall taken care of, but four years later, we encountered the same problem. We had to pay over $600 for a new brake light switch and a new G-force sensor, which required the entire dashboard to be pulled out. Additionally, we had to spend over $2000 on fluids change, belts, and a bad water pump. A few years ago, the lower control arms needed to be replaced, which was quite a challenge, but we managed to do it ourselves. Fortunately, the battery was covered under warranty. Despite wheel balance and alignment, the car vibrates under normal driving conditions. We have been keeping up with the rust, which has prevented the underside from rusting through. Currently, the drive timing rings are showing signs of wear and may need to be replaced soon.

    This vehicle is a joy to drive, especially with shiftronics. I also appreciate the 4-wheel drive lock mode, which I can use in slippery conditions instead of waiting for the 'real-time' mode that many other SUVs use. It's a great looking vehicle that always receives compliments wherever I go. I test drove several SUVs, including the CR-V, and this one is the best looking and best performing of them all. It also has many features, including a 100,000 mile warranty. For example, it has a front passenger seat that automatically turns off the airbag if the passenger is less than 100lb, airbags in the back for side impacts, and heated wipers, among other things.

It's a mainly city SUV that can also handle my ski equipment in snowy Canadian winters and camping gear in muddy summers. The Tucson is a reliable, spacious, and comfortable car that has almost everything I need. It comes with 4WD, V6, stability control, shiftronic, front/side/roof airbags, leather seats, moon roof, mp3 player, roof racks, fog lights, alloy wheels, and much more. For a compact SUV, it's hard to ask for more. The build quality of the Tucson is exceptional and can compete with many other cars from more recognized brands. I would highly recommend it to anyone.

Despite moderate driving, I have yet to reach even 19 mpg, which is below the rated 19-24 mpg. Even on the highway, I only get 18 mpg, which bothers me. Other than the mpg, it's been a fun car to drive.

    I bought my car at the end of the '06 model year and I have loved it ever since. It has been over four years now and it has not had a single issue. The V-6 engine is very powerful and quick, which makes the performance stellar. The only problem I have encountered with the '06 model is the ESC computer and braking when it's in the manual shift position. It will go into ABS mode even when panic braking on perfectly dry ground and it can be quite scary. However, in standard drive mode it works perfectly. Overall, I think it's a great car and I am considering buying another Hyundai for my next car.

With only 25k miles on it, I still have 2 years of factory warranty left, which is pretty sweet! It drives great, has nice standard equipment, and is comfortable and spacious enough for a family of 4 and a dog. I was a bit worried after reading reviews of this car getting around 16 mpg, but I seem to be averaging 21 and am thrilled!
