The Hyundai Tucson (/ˈtuːsɒn/; Korean: 현대 투싼) is a compact crossover SUV produced by the South Korean manufacturer Hyundai. It is named after the city of Tucson, Arizona. It was originally known as the Hyundai JM when it was introduced in Japan in 2004.

The second-generation model was marketed as the Hyundai ix35 in several markets, including Europe, Australia and China, before reverting to Tucson for the third generation. Since its first generation, the Tucson has been developed alongside the Kia Sportage, sharing platforms and engines.

The Tucson is the best-selling Hyundai SUV model, with more than 7 million units sold globally since it launched in 2004. Of these, 1.4 million units have been sold in Europe.

The fourth-generation model marked the switch to a mid-size car platform using the N3 platform which is shared with another three corporate siblings, the Hyundai Santa Cruz, the Hyundai Mufasa and the fourth-generation Kia Sorento. As of 2022, the Tucson is positioned between the Kona or Creta and the three-row Santa Fe in Hyundai's crossover SUV lineup.

Vehicle ran fine then it started doing this maybe 3 months into this approx a week ago it started making noises coming from the motor. To see if it's a issue I'm expected to pay the dealership to evaluate this issue which is unfair to me You can clearly hear and see the issue is there. ELECTRICAL SYSTEM,SEATS,SERVICE BRAKES PROBLEM

  • Date Of Incident: 2023-11-14
  • VIN: KM8JUCAC7CU
  • Components: ELECTRICAL SYSTEM,SEATS,SERVICE BRAKES
  • Summary: Campaign #[XXX] I was notified and contacted Hyundai multiple times - 11/14, 15 and 16.There were multiple other times as well. I contacted both Broadway and Bergstrom Hyundai in both Appleton and Green Bay on multiple occasions as well to ask for a rental while awaiting the remedy as you are advised not to park near structures and outside. I live in an area where this is not possible and rent a duplex with a shared driveway-meaning that if a fire would occur, an explosion would most likely occur and lives would be lost. This also means that going to run errands while parked near other vehicles could cause multiple fatalities, as an explosion would most likely occur and more lives would be lost. If I were at any location and the vehicle started on fire, there would certainly be fatalities. To date, I have contacted Hyundai again and the representative was extremely unhelpful and unfriendly. At one point I was promised a rental but then was turned away. No warning lights came on but if there is a fluid leak, who is to say that the wires that would transmit a signal to turn on an ABS light would not be disabled as well?Brake fluid has certain components that could render wires useless. I have not had my vehicle inspected by a dealer because the recall was sent to me by Hyundai. I also have had other problems with this vehicle including seats not being stable and seatbelt indicators not working which questions whether I need to worry about the passengers safety. This campaign has been ongoing since I received this letter in November of 2023. Hyundai has yet to do a thing about this recall. I am asking for a complete refund for this vehicle due to multiple recalls. Today-[XXX] I was on hold for 50 minutes, without an agent-so I am also questioning how seriously you are taking these issues. I have always looked on your website prior to purchasing vehicles, but now I am uncertain as to how much I should take your websites advice. ELECTRICAL SYSTEM,SERVICE BRAKES,ENGINE PROBLEM

  • Date Of Incident: 2023-12-28
  • Fire: 1
  • VIN: KM8JU3AC7CU
  • Components: ELECTRICAL SYSTEM,SERVICE BRAKES,ENGINE
  • Summary: Our [XXX] daughter was driving the vehicle from our home to work in Richmond Heights (approx. 19 miles) on [XXX] on {XXX]. At approximately [XXX] and before the [XXX] exit ([XXX] area), the vehicle made a load bang/popping noise, began to lose power, and the interior began to fill with smoke. She was driving in one of the center lanes and luckily made it over to the right shoulder without incident despite traffic and the smoke impairing her view and use of the rear and side mirrors. She immediately got out and called 911. Luckily there was no accident involved and she was not trapped in the vehicle. She was not injured, just very shaken. The vehicle was on fire under the hood and eventually burst into flames. The Kirkwood City Police Officer called the Kirkwood Fire Department and Terry's Towing. The fire was put out, but not before causing the vehicle to be totaled (see photos). Terry's Towing towed the vehicle to its lot, where it is currently stored. The vehicle is a total loss. As we purchased the vehicle from a family member earlier in 2023 as a spare car for our 16yo son and 20yo daughter (when she's home on break from college) for local and short drives, we only carried liability insurance on it with Progressive. We were not aware of Hyundai Recall 251 / NHTSA Recall # 23V651000 until after this happened to our daughter. We have filed a case with Hyundai. The vehicle has not yet been inspected by them or anyone else. The vehicle was running fine. The ABS light had come on sometime prior to this incident. The vehicle was going in for an oil change and system check after the holidays. In the process of obtaining the fire department report. Negative 2012 Hyundai Tucson car reviews

  1. Morgan Boehm 2025-01-06

My Tucson occasionally experiences an electrical malfunction where the key gets stuck in the ignition, the blinkers fail to work, the locks won't work, and the lights won't turn off. Despite numerous attempts by both Hyundai and the dealership, the issue remains unresolved. It is disappointing to have experienced this with my first Hyundai, especially since I was looking forward to having a reliable vehicle with AWD and good gas mileage at a good value. I have noticed that the testing manager of Inside Line had the same issue with the 2011 Sonata being reviewed, which leads me to believe that this may be a Hyundai issue rather than an isolated problem with just my vehicle. Based on my experience, I cannot recommend purchasing a Hyundai at this time.

  2. German Wiza 2024-11-11

Aside from the poor power and noisy interior, it wasn't a bad car. Unfortunately, the engine spun a bearing at 120,000 km (75,000 miles), which was quite disappointing. However, we understand that these things can happen and we hope to find a better solution in the future.

  3. Armand Hermiston 2024-10-23

I love my Tucson! It's super comfortable and has so many features. Plus, it's really easy to control the iPod, radio, and other functions. The gas mileage isn't quite as good as I expected, averaging around 22 MPG, but that's mostly because I do a lot of highway driving.

  4. Jamey Marvin 2024-10-11

I have extensive experience driving this vehicle, having purchased it new and driven it for over 3 years. During this time, I have noticed several areas for improvement. The ride can be bouncy, particularly in the second row seating, and the fuel economy MPG numbers fall short of the advertised figures. Additionally, the small 13-gallon fuel tank limits the vehicle's range. There have also been some maintenance issues, such as an annoying rattle noise from the trunk, noisy shocks, and a failed low-pressure tire sensor. The AC fan required replacement at just 17k miles due to a high-pitched noise. Finally, the fan speed choices are limited, and the driver and passenger seats are too narrow for my liking.

  5. Mikel Dach 2024-09-05

Hi there! I hope you're doing well. I noticed that you mentioned having 58,000 KM on your limited, and I wanted to share my thoughts. First of all, I completely agree that the styling is beautiful - both inside and out! It's great to see that Hyundai has really stepped up their game to appeal to a wider base. However, I can understand your frustration with the mileage. It seems to be consistently between 11.6L/100km to 12.7 L/100km, which isn't ideal. I'm glad to hear that the fan issue was fixed by the dealer, but it's a shame that you're still experiencing some other problems like the sunshade and trunk rattle. As for the Bluetooth, it's unfortunate that the receiving party is hearing muffled sounds. Have you tried any troubleshooting steps? Lastly, I can see why you might be surprised by the oil change frequency - every 6000 km does seem quite frequent! Overall, I hope things start looking up for you and your vehicle. Let me know if there's anything else I can do to help!

Congratulations on your new purchase! It's great to hear that you found a car that meets your needs. The 2011 Tucson GLS in Chai Bronze sounds like a fantastic choice, especially with the added benefit of a great warranty. It's always important to have peace of mind when it comes to your vehicle. The GLS interior sounds like a real standout feature, with its high-end leatherette and cloth inserts. The soft touch surfaces are a nice touch and add to the overall luxurious feel. With the popular equipment package, it's great to hear that you're enjoying the bluetooth and satellite radio features. And the fuel efficiency is really impressive, especially with only 2200 miles on the car. Thanks for sharing your experience with us!

Congratulations on your first new car purchase! It sounds like you made a wise choice with the AWD option, especially living in Michigan where winters can be unpredictable. It's great to hear that you're getting good gas mileage on the highway, and even better when you're cruising at a comfortable speed. The fold down cargo space is definitely a plus, although it's understandable that the trunk space may not be as roomy as some would prefer. It's reassuring to know that you haven't had any issues with the car so far, and we look forward to hearing your thoughts when you reach 60,000 miles. Thank you for sharing your experience with us!

We bought our 2011 Tucson brand new, with all the bells and whistles. It's a great little car and we like almost everything about it. However, there's one problem that's been driving us nuts: the CD player makes a cracking/scratching sound at various intervals of use. We enjoy listening to audiobooks, but after 20-30 minutes of listening, the CD starts making noises. We turn it off and can turn it back on to use again after 5-10 minutes, until it happens again. This is so disruptive! Hyundai has supposedly replaced it three times, but we continue to have the same problem. Our CDs are new and have never been used.

Hi there! I hope you're doing well. I just wanted to share my experience with this car. We bought it almost exactly a year ago and have driven almost 13,000 miles with no major problems. The only issue we had was a loose screw in the visor, but it was quickly replaced under warranty. It has great power and we're averaging 24 mpg in the city, which is fantastic for a car of this size. We did have a minor issue with the alarm and electrical system, but I was able to fix it myself by replacing the main fuse. It's been working perfectly ever since (and it's only happened once, so I haven't bothered telling the dealer yet). Overall, I absolutely love this car! It was a great deal, rides smoothly, and looks fantastic. Thanks for listening!

Your Black/Saddle int. 2011 Tucson Limited is just under 3 months old and you've already put 7k miles on it! That's impressive! The ride and steering are firm and a tad bouncy, but it's great to hear that you love that about it. It's always tough to switch from a gas guzzling car, but it's fantastic that your gas mileage is significantly better than your Jeep was. Although it's not quite the 22/31 on the sticker, averaging between 18.5-20 mpg in the city and 26 mpg on hwy trips from Dallas to Austin is still pretty impressive! It's understandable that you drive the vehicle quite hard, especially since you're used to the power of your Grand Cherokee. I'm glad to hear that you're very satisfied with your purchase overall!
